This place is fantastic! Upon arrival, I was greeted by smiling faces, everyone was so pleasant and seemed genuinely happy to be there. The museum is thoughtfully laid out and really details what life was like both on and off the battlefield during the time period. It was not crowded at all, I spent two hours wandering around, I could have spent another hour easily if I took my time. Admission is reasonable at just $15, I would gladly come back here with my girlfriend and recommend this place to all. read more

What an incredible place and time capsule of the early 1940s! Doesn't look like much from the outside, but definitely has a lot to offer! Half the museum shows what life was like at home during the war while the 2nd half is military artifacts and vehicles. They have discounted pricing and $1 off for triple A members. Regular adult price is under $15 and I've been other places that charge way more for less. Staff was super welcoming, friendly and informative. I obsess with all things WW2, like most people. This war has shaped the ideas of many generations, it is impossible to not know a little about it. We have United Nations because of it, as well as Israel/Palestine, technology that helps humanity and that can destroy humanity, the Space program, I mean, I could keep going. This museum honors the US troops and the wartime era in the USA. It has a very interesting historical transition of the economy, with lots of memorabilia yet nothing outstanding. It is well organized and it definitively touches on nostalgia. I specially find the graphics used in the war propaganda very significant and they contrast the post war art movement as well as the economic boom. Times were different for sure. I could go 4 stars, but I think 3 is appropriate. read more

We have visited the Wright Museum of World War II several times. The experience gets better each time. The staff and wonderful volunteers are the best. Friendly, warm, knowledgeable and always willing to help. I even asked for a restaurant suggestion and that led us to a wonderful meal in a local restaurant. The care, time and passion that went into creating and building this important museum is mind boggling. The exhibit upstairs of photographs changes and I have found each exhibit to be fascinating. I really enjoy the gift shop and the prices are very reasonable. The quality of items is top notch and we have purchased many gifts there from toys to baseball and aviator hats to postcards. So much fun and they have educational toys and books too. Something for everyone and for all ages. I'm so thankful that we can take visiting family there and also just travel to Wolfeboro for a day at the museum and a delicious lunch after. Museums are important to our family and the Wright Museum of World War II is a gem. read more

If there is a WW II museum we will go to it. We've been to big and small and everything in between. We weren't guide sure what to expect of this museum in the middle of NH but my were we pleasantly surprised! First I want to say how great all the staff were. Super friendly and very knowledgable! And just the right amount of stopping by to share a tidbit without being overbearing. We even had a great conversation with the landscaper! The museum starts out in a huge room filled with 1940s era vignettes focused primarily on the homefront. Everything from a soda fountain to a typical kitchen and living room to some interesting info on Donna Reed and the Civil Defense Corp. Then you walk thru the time tunnel. Starting in 1939 you progress year by year thru 1945 with each section giving information on what was happening in the world at that time. It was quite interesting. Then there is a section with WWII vechiles. The highlight of the day was that we just happened to be there when they ypwere changing out a display. They removed a jeep and brought in a Pershing Tank! We got to go to the parking lot area to see the tank being brought out of the garage where it had been restored and then driven into the museum! nanotechnology every day you get to see a tank in motion! There are some other areas upstairs and we especially enjoyed the displays on women in the military at the time. We ended up spending most of the day here. Highly recommend for any WWII buffs. read more

It didn't take much to convince my two boys to go into this museum with me. I mean, common, there's a WWII Sherman Tank bursting out of the brick wall facing the street! Inside, it's a fairly typical military history museum in terms of it being lots of static displays of historic artifacts and military memorabilia. There isn't much hands-on for the kids to do, but the kids enjoyed walking around and looking at the stuff for a little while. It made for a good afternoon out of the house and a nice boat ride down to Wolfeboro and back. It's actually much bigger and much nicer than I expected. My expectations were fairly low going into a place in the middle of rural NH. It's a two-story place with quite a few exhibits to see. My favorite exhibit was seeing their collection of WWII aircraft nose-art, but... uh... it's not exactly an exhibit you want to take young children to, especially if your children can READ. "Daddy, what does it mean "Give it to her?" Daddy, why is she standing there and holding herself like that? Daddy, why are her clothes so tight?" I'm not knocking the artwork by any means - I thought it was really cool to see it, but I quickly decided to move on to the next exhibit before my boys started asking too many questions I didn't want to answer. In the end, I would say it was worth the price of admission and good for an hour or so of walking around inside on a hot summer day. read more

We didn't fully know what to expect with this one because I have been to some amazing WWII museums. This one war right up there with our favorites (NOLA and Friedricksburg, TX)!!! What this one does different is gives you some great perspective as to the home front. What was the U.S. like while the war was starting; what it was like when we were dragged in by Japan and Pearl Harbor; and how did things change as we really got into the massive military armorment buildup at home and with so many being shipped off (and their eventual return). Simply put, buget at least 2 hours. I would do more if your a big fan of learning a lot both through reading/watching videos and listening to some audio. There are models, real tanks and currently there is a Associated Press exhibit on pictures throughout WWII. I don't want to build it up too much but in a week of visiting the lakes region this was def. a highlight other than the natural beauty. If you haven't been, go. If your planning a trip-budget as much time as you can if you really want to immerse yourself. read more

A small, unassuming of the way museum. Its a small treasure in a beautiful town. The Wright Museum tells a nice story of life in hometown america and of the battlefields of WW2. A great collection of period items and a great little collection of armor and vehicles. Should be on the list for any WW2 buff or history nerd. read more

Very small museum, but very amazing museum. Incredibly organized and informative, filled with education and inspiration in photos and videos and displays and a "walk through the decades (and wars across the decades)" room by room. There are many hands on displays and interactive activities for both kids and adults. Don't let the small size of the building fool you... plan on spending an entire day (but bring a picnic lunch for outside - while there is a tiny gift shop there is no place to get a drink or bite to eat). read more

I read an article in YANKEE MAGAZINE and this museum is the main reason we went to Wolfeboro, NH. We drove 3 1/2 hours to get there. Highly recommended museum for all veterans and families to visit. ABSOLUTE MUST for any history lover within a two hour radius! Who knew you could find such a well stocked, informative museum in this little town? They have a ton of vehicles on display from the tank in the middle of the outside facade to motorcycles and airplanes (and MORE tanks) inside. This museum is a pretty good take and very infomative about all aspects of World War 2. It's nice they have a museum like this to show what life was like back in the day for the people as well as the troops. They also had an exhibit about the Korean War as well when I was there. read more

What a lovely, well-planned, and well cared for museum! We started with a five minute talk from a docent and then a short film. Then we saw what life was like during WWII, including toys, games, victory gardens, ration stamps, basically how Americans pulled together as a united nation to fight the war. After that we went through a series if six rooms called the Time Tunnel. Each room shows what life was like from 1939 to 1945. Then we saw the tanks! They had an M4 Sherman, M5 Stuart, and an M26 Pershing. They also had an armored car, a 6x6 truck, and a tractor along with four Harley Davidson motorcycles designed for the Army. My husband geeked out while I rested on a bench. Upstairs they had model aircraft carriers, exhibits about life in the military, and a rotating art exhibit -- right now it's photographs from WWII. To wrap up the visit, they had a replica soda fountain and a gift shop. The exhibits were all very well done and professionally displayed, not just thrown together like some local museums I've seen in the past. It's not just tanks, so if you're in the area and interested in life in the 40s, you should definitely go! read more

My wife and I decided to visit this museum 10-16-16.. WoW, it is very interesting about us as nation in time of sacrifice and war in the 30's to mid 1940's. This is a great take for all to see. For WWII buffs this museum in Wolfboro, NH is a must visit. Great vehicles on display. Pershing Tank (last one) from the Battle for the Remagen Bridge, looks like a recently refurbished M4A3E8 Sherman tank (HVSS Suspension), USMC Halftrack from the Pacific Theater, Jeep and much more. There is a display of the home front. Even if not a WWII buff there is much here for everyone. A must visit. Admission is about $5. read more

A wonderful museum and my favorite parts are the victory garden section, the WOMEN OF. COURAGE exhibit and the Norman Rockwell Saturday Evening Post covers which I hope can remain permanent as it so beautifully ad graphically depicts the issues of the times and the impact of the wars on everyone and how the world was changed by the experience. What a fantastic collection, not just of military memorabilia but also of items from "the homefront," art work made years later and other WW2 associated material. As an earlier reviewer said, it's all the more impressive to find this in a small town in central NH. The one thing I'd offer is that I think for most children under high school age it would likely only hold their interest for a short time unless they were particularly into WW2. But being a history buff, I could have spent hours there. read more

So it turns out the majority of the Board at the Wright Museum of World War II in Wolfeboro, NH have gone through with a gun ban on museum property. This prohibits members of the public, re-enactors, or musuem volunteers from holding or possessing guns or edged weapons real or fake all due to a false claim for better image for the museum and "safety". The good members of the board fought hard but were highly outnumbered. I myself a volunteer and re-enactor am now prohibited from doing what everyones been doing for years there as a constitutional right and as part of living history displays. Also included in this gun ban is the deactivation of all firearms in the museum collection including some valuable weapons such as the German MG-34, American M1941 Johnson rifle, and many more are at risk of destruction by means of deactivation because of a half wit policy. Please show support by making your voice heard to the museum to tell them destruction of constitutional rights and WWII history is not permissible! It agonizes me because this museum has been a place of nostalgia and fun for years for myself and many others volunteers or not. We also are prohibited from using blanks in the main guns of our tanks for events from now on as part of this ban. The director claims he respects the memory of those who fought in the war, yet by destroying artifacts and ignoring freedoms we know this to not be true. Please help us out by contacting the museum to show the executive director and the board majority that there are many of us out there that actually care about protecting freedom and history! read more

This was well worth its visit, the staff was very good and you get a picture of not only the war part, but also the efforts on the homefront. During the visit it felt like a sort of family feeling about the museum, one felt welcome and it wasn't just the display of stuff museum. This is a place that we have driven by multiple times and always wanted to stop in but we were always on the way to or from other things at the time, but when we finally did, it was great! It is a walk through museum of World War 2, the war itself but also about the home front as well. They have actual items from both theaters and at home that are hard to wrap your head around that it actually happened. You not only learn things from this place, but you also have a good time doing it. Even my teenage son enjoyed it, and that is saying something! read more
