Dr Maxfield only wanted to focus on my previous mental health hospitalization. She stated that my affect was "constricted", a negative mental health term. Also, when she asked me about exercise, I told her that I work out every day. That is because I do workout every day. In her notes, she stated that "patient claims to work out "every day"" -complete with quotes around every day. What the heck was that supposed to mean? Insulting. read more

They say they offer after hours nursing consultation but no one picks up the phone. This is even in the early evening. Should I wait all night in the emergency room for a possible non urgent medical issue. That's what a nurse consultation is for. I need a medical provider that is there to help their patients. I do remember calling once 10 years ago and actually getting through with an answering service and getting a call back. read more

While the Dr. I saw for my annual physical was located at this location, the billing and the CEO is located at the Acton location. When I was pregnant and looking for a Pediatric doctor- someone told me about a doctor at this facility. My child has a few health issues which has always been dealt with respectfully and with care. He was even dx'd with T1D and told me the two choices I had to go to for hospitals. My child is 16 now. I have never regretted my decision in picking this facility and this particular doctor. After seeing the care that my chd receives- I switched to a doctor at this facility because other places kept losing people and I kept getting shuffled around. Being a T1D I didn't want to have to keep explaining everything. I noticed that AFM seems to keep their doctors. I've also had completely wonderful care. It's refreshing to see my doctor truly listen and care about what is happening and to follow up to ensure all is still well. This place is wonderful and the doctors are caring and attentive. Acton Medical demonstrates very little care about their community or patients. I had surfaced a concern about operating practices that violated my children's privacy and made our appointment excruciating. Rather than address the problem, Joseph Berman, an executive Advisor of Acton Medical invited me and my children to leave their practice. He took a purely defensive and cruel approach in an entity that is supposed to be focused on wellness, care and empathy. For anyone who likes to be gaslighted or abused, this is the place to go. read more

We called when my four-year-old son's heart rate was suddenly skyrocketing early one Saturday morning (they were very close to where we lived and the nearest hospital was several miles away). When we explained what was going on the absolutely clueless girl on the phone asked if we could come in on Monday morning (!!!???) This was the most incredibly stupid, clueless and totally insensitive response ever. We did complain later and they said they would address this, but what the hell? read more

On August 14th, a little after 12:00 I called Acton Medical to ask some questions and to see if I'd be able to switch to a male doctor after my old PCP switched to geriatrics. After talking to a very pleasant and kind receptionist, Nicole - she redirected me to someone in registration who normally I wouldn't fault entirely for being unhelpful if she wasn't so impatiently rude to me the phone. I have been going to acton medical my whole life and cannot believe someone so heartless and apathetic can be allowed to work in a doctor's office, when all I requested was to be checked up on by a male doctor. She did not provide her name, it sounded like she was mumbling and spoke extremely fast in a monotone voice - maybe eating a sandwich. When I asked her are there any male doctors available looking for new clients, she said "No." After the silence that followed, I asked if there are any male doctors at the other branch. She responded "What's your insurance? abruptly cutting me off." I told her my insurance and she quickly replied with "No." I then asked her if there would be a way for someone to let me know when a male doctor might be accepting patients, and she responded "I don't know, I don't know, we don't have any male doctors taking patients." More awkward silence, so I said "uh, okay" and finally I asked her about the FollowMyHealth app and having medical records transferred and she transferred the line to someone else immediately, without any "have a nice day, or goodbye, or sorry we weren't able to accommodate a male doctor." Just nothing. What a disgusting feeling to have when trying to book an appointment. I literally felt like I was wasting her time after being a lifelong patient at this facility. This is my first review on Yelp and that's how turned off I was by this. Learn from Nicole, she was a normal, decent person - a standard requirement in your field of work. Sorry for wasting your time. To be clear - the person this rude woman transferred me to was also kind and helpful like Nicole was earlier, and assisted me with the followmyhealth portal without issue. read more
