Though it did take 3 months to get a new patient appointment (for just an annual physical, nothing urgent), I'm happy I waited - the staff was lovely and the location was very convenient. I was brought into the room right away, only had to wait a few minutes for my doctor, received the recommended vaccinations from the nurse as soon as my time with the doctor ended, and had blood drawn immediately after that. I received the results within a few days, and the prescription refills and referral that I needed were sent off immediately. My only complaint was that I needed a form filled out for work once my bloodwork results were available, and they wouldn't hold onto the form for me - they said I needed to bring it to the Acton location myself because they don't have a medical secretary on-site, though I think they're looking for one now!

Then the nurse practitioner you're scheduled with is given 15 min with you (well, that's what one said when bolting in the middle of a conversation yesterday). The front desk staff varies from indifferent to acting bothered by you. The nurses mostly seem nice. The nurse practitioners seem hurried, and lately, I get the impression they've decided what's going on before seeing my kids. Not good. Too bad... they used to be better... WAY better.

When you call, you get a familiar voice that knows your family. Dr Bakshi is a lactation educator as well and was incredibly supportive and helpful on my breastfeeding journey with my first baby. If you're looking for a doctor who not only understands the challenges of nursing and pumping but will cheer you on and educate you, you found her. Their office is also in network with Children's Hospital. When my daughter had issues that required additional specialist support, we were able to see the best of the best in Boston and notes were shared seamlessly with Dr Bakshi's team. Their on call support over nights and weekends is also phenomenal. With a newborn I used the service a few times and always got immediate compassionate care. I can't recommend Dr B and her team enough. My first inclination is to gatekeep this amazing office because it is so small! But every family and child deserves great care.

I prefer a holistic approach to health as I think good nutrition, sleep, exercise are as important as medical intervention, if not more, and the doctors here seem to agree. I do not believe in the flu shot (for anyone) and while they advise to get it annually, they have never made it an issue. They have Saturday morning hours for sick child visits. When I have called outside of office hours the doctor-on-call has always returned my call well within a half hour. Have never had an issue with any kind of billing problems. Some of the wonderful Drs there 13 years ago have since retired, but the replacements are all top notch. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Frankly, as someone who has worked on the other side of a…read moremedical office counter, I think it's a bit silly for folks to expect to be seen immediately as if other patients aren't also due time and attention when their concerns or questions might run long, for doctors not to book out in advance, and to not have some patience with customer service folks. People are difficult to deal with, and these folks have to deal with many people who are not feeling well, who are often navigating a tangle of insurance and stressed out, and who are probably snapping at the CSR because of it. I always give the benefit of the doubt with customer service folks, especially in healthcare - it is NOT an easy job! And in my experience, I most often get what I give as far as how I am treated. As for my medical experiences, I've been an Acton Medical patient for almost my entire life, and I have had very solid experiences with them throughout - especially of late. Dr. Natalie Cohen has developed a solid and trusting doctor-patient relationship with me, making meaningful notes about our conversations so she can follow up next time, never making me feel like she is in a rush, asking about and making suggestions for the health of my whole self, and truly listening and making me feel like she is honestly invested in my well being. She's a rare breed these days when many other doctors have made me feel like they just needed to check off the boxes and get into the next exam room.
