Time to do another rating on this fabulous thrift store. Great place for odds and ends, and for me, another opportunity to meet friends. We regulars are excited to see each other and exchange info about where to find great stuff. The addition of Dee from another thrift store makes it even more fun to shop there, and she makes me feel like I'm visiting a friend. But about the Great Stuff... recently I've been checking out the books looking for inspiration to paint clothing, and I found some nice old children's books with characters painted in watercolor. Met some buyers of self help and positive thinking books for the incarcerated, and people who just enjoy leafing through the books for fun. A great selection of paperback best sellers and romance novels. Clothes are a bit expensive now, as they are at most thrift stores these days. Sad to see how inflation has hit the thrift community. But sale days are terrific at ACTs and be sure to get on the instagram and text lists for other pop up deals. (While I was writing this a Tuesday Manager's Special popped up!) Check out the tiered discounts like one color tags at 50% off and another at 75% off. I always find a treasure there, including the people who work or shop there! read more

ACTS Thrift Store - A jacket to take to The Matrix - Thrift Stores Near Me - Pomona, California

I haven't been to this thrift store in a very long time, so when we arrived and saw this I was very disappointed. First of all, parking is a nightmare. Also, what does this have anything to do with a place of business. (Picture is in photos) How would people that have family in Palestine feel if they were to come to this store to shop and they see this? It's very unprofessional. Aside from this monstrosity, their prices are somewhat unreasonable and they have a variety of fake designer things to sell so they can just rip you off. Genuinely disgusted with the services here. Front desk clerk was extremely rude with attitude towards all customers with a demeaning tone in her voice. She did not even recognize her own employee and talked down to him "oh if you work here you should've told me, well I can't help you anymore go to the next register." Earlier during my visit she was also having a smart mouth with an elderly lady about payments while she was just trying to get the right amount. read more

I don't know what's happening to the thrifts in the area, but between the terrible price jumps and item selection, i now have to worry about being ripped off by the thrifts looking to get one over on the customer's. I bought a pack of xmas ribbon for my significant other and when we were setting up gifts to wrap, realized what they actually sold me was a pack full of burlap ribbon with a little bit of xmas ribbon ontop of it to trick buyers. Absolutely pathetic, not even considering how this is a religious thrift store that wears the mask of charity and good will towards man. Is this the morals you get out of all that? A few months ago, when the world was shut down due to COVID-19, all of us who were stuck at home were looking for projects to keep busy. Some folks dabbled in delivery booze. Others started lifting weights and got jacked. Still others snacked... and packed on the curves. Me? Well, I decided that it was finally time to clean out the garage. So armed with a roll or trash bags and a "get rid of it" attitude, I loaded an entire truck's worth of stuff that normally would have gone out on the lawn for a yard sale... but with the threat of someone shedding virus in close proximity to my wifenkids, I started looking for a thrift shop to donate. I called one near my home... closed indefinitely. Then I called a second. Also shuttered due to coronavirus. A third. A fourth. OMG, was I going to have to put all that crap back in the garage!?!?! Finally, I called this ACTS, and was told they were open for donations! Fully 35 miles from my home, I decided to take the non-freeway trek (to keep things from blowing out all over the road). The process for donation was simple: pulled into the back, unloaded the truck, got a receipt, sprayed myself liberally with isopropyl alcohol, and drove home. Peeking inside, it appears that they have rack after rack and row after row of all sorts of things. Knowing that prices are dirt cheap and that proceeds support a good cause makes donating here a no-brainer. Now that things have started to reopen a little closer to home, I won't have much occasion to visit this ACTS store. But if you're in the area and have something valuable that is just sitting there collecting dust, or worse--that you're planning to just throw away-- consider donating it to this Thrift Store. They will be grateful for your donation, and you're passing along some good in the world at a time so many of us desperately need it. read more

ACTS Thrift Store is one of my favorite thrift stores. Even though it is jam-packed, it is well-organized. The store is constantly being restocked and most of the prices are reasonable. I like the coupons and other daily promotions. Dropping off donations is super easy as well. Most of the people that work there are friendly, but I have found that Sam (the young woman with the tattoos - I only mention what she looks like because there is another employee with the same name) always provides exceptional customer service. She has exceeded my expectations every time I have interacted with her. During one of my first visits, she patiently explained how the coupons work. She is always professional and engaging and she treats her customers with respect and kindness. I decided to leave this review because I just had another very positive experience yesterday at ACTS when Sam rang me up. read more

This is my Moms and I, frequently visited thrift shop for over a year, we have always enjoyed coming and browsing the great selection but one employee in particular time and time out seems to always have an attitude when we get the displeasure of being rang up by her. Yesterday was the limit for myself, my mom an older women was being rang up by her and everything was going great until she finished ringing our stuff up; says there's something still in the cart and My mom "didn't give it to her",the tone was definitely implying my mom was stealing; my mom obviously became upset because you don't just imply a customer is stealing and attempt to embarrass them like they are, she told her "please count it up, I don't want you to believe I'm stealing from you guys" the lady laughs and says "well it's my job". She begins to count everything slowly, grabbing everything out the bag that she already knew we paid for and began counting it, instead of the things in the cart she mentioned we forgot to put up on the desk to be paid for, After that interaction it wasn't over, my mom asked for help carrying a Christmas tree to our car because it was going to be heavy for her so, she asked for help but the man who wears a beanie in the inside and isn't cashier, told us it's not him; it's another man who helps. My mom ended up taking the tree on her own and left me in there with my three year old, I was getting my son out the cart and getting all the things we bought and paid for together so I can go but, To my shock; she was still talking about my mom with her coworker; the man in the beanie. She was laughing with him talking about the interaction. my mom was going to come back for the receipt but since I was on my way out I was going to get it, well before I can get up to her desk for the receipt, she's still laughing loudly with her coworker on the interaction with my mom and when her coworker asked if we were going to get our receipt she just said "idk,it's their receipt" or something a long the lines of that in front of me. I told her "you could have told Me" directly to her because i was still in the store & she could have professionally told me "we were forgetting our receipts or if "we still wanted it" and not even that,she didn't hand me the receipt or say anything and because the interaction was genuinely just so uncomfortable, we ended up forgetting the trees base. Beside this interaction, I myself have heard her speaking about people to her coworkers, I've minded my business about it but; it seems like she's comfortable doing so and had no problem talking about my mom in front of me as well,I found that especially distasteful. They bullshit your community service hours and it's funny bc the owner Tony husband of manager Marissa tried to reply saying it was my fault I waited till the last minute but how when you guys don't keep the correct record of the time. You will end up having to do more hours then assigned bc they bullshit you time and time again . It is dirty. It stinks they have their MINOR children working in there because they can't find a babysitter im assuming there's homeless sleeping right all over the premises on a day-to-day basis, 24/7 7 days a week,. I can keep going on everything about this store but if your a local you know what's ups mostly all their workers are volunteers assigned from the court so majority of the money they make is profit. The store manager, Tony is a very incompetent individual who has little to no interest in satisfying his customers or running his store in a competent fashion. I have personally shopped and sourced from this store for years and spent THOUSANDS but I will gladly stop doing so. Tony should be let go posthaste. Perhaps if they promote Stephanie to be the manager on duty, the store will be run better. Incompetence cannot be rewarded with my money. No thanks. This past weekend's sales were cancelled suddenly due to power outages. That's fine! However, what is unacceptable is advertising via all communication channels that the store WAS open and the sale WAS on yet waiting until midday on Sunday to post a minuscule notice to Instagram, a page only frequented by 1000 individuals. Many people pulled up to the store confused and disgruntled, myself included had driven 30+ minutes and on Saturday in particular wasted 2 hours of my time. When I called on Monday. Then Tuesday. And then finally today, Wednesday. After leaving numerous messages that went unanswered. Finally spoke to Tony who from the start had no interest in making a happier customer out of me. He proceeded to interrupt and speak over me. Once I was sufficiently irritated I said to him blankly, "is there anything that you plan to do since your team fucked this one up?" He quickly shut me down and told me that I, a fully grown and degreed adult, cannot use such language. He actually said CANNOT. Laughable. He said that the random 50% sale on a weekday was sufficient to make up for this past weekend's failure. It's really not. Especially not after I called 3x Especially not after my last issue was the associates didn't know how the point system worked and I had to engage with Tony and he spoke to me as if I was an inferior idiot. Especially not after I've been coming here since before ACTS was even located here. Tony is a genuinely bad store manager. His employees rarely know what's going on. He shows very little empathy for his customers (a required skill for his role) and he is an overall unpleasant person to have to seek assistance from. I distinctly recall witnessing him with a customer, who was rightfully upset about losing hundreds of their points in that pointless rewards program change. He basically waved the customer off. Didn't crack a smile and in fact, talked over him as well. Maybe that's just Tony though. Nonetheless, there are many other thrift stores in the area that I'd suggest supporting instead of this one. Their sales really aren't even all that great. They just happen to be situated in an excellent location and thus have redeemable inventory. Other local thrift stores to visit: -Quality Thrift - Goodwill - Eco Thrift - 3way Thrift If the owner should see this, I'd love to talk about ways to regain myself as a customer. Also, the social media could definitely stand to be better managed. Especially if that is to be the business' emergency alert system. I can help with that as well. In conclusion if you've shopped this far, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. At least, for as long at Tony is manager and I fail to be satisfied with the handling of the power outage situation. They do not test their electronics to ensure they work before selling them. Then they won't refund you. Buyer beware. Make them test anything that plugs into power and make sure it works first. Really sad because people on a budget come here and they don't have the decency to make sure what they are selling even works. Go literally anywhere else. read more

This store has adopted a NO MASK REQUIRED POLICY. When I asked about it she rudly told me that "This store is mask optional." Not only that I was really trying to be generally nice about it when I inquired. I thought I may have been misunderstanding a Pamona health policy. This gal was very tempremental and curt! Plus I personally witnessed an altercation when she physically attacked a woman who was shoplifting while I was there. I wonder what a corporate manager would have thought of the liability? I enjoyed shopping through this store. What's most impressive is the "argument" I witnessed between a cashier (maybe a manager) and a customer. Both wanted to do the right thing and both wanted to be kind so they were going back and forth over whose kindness was going to be accepted. The fact that the cashier was trying to avoid having the customer pay more money than she already had, even though owed, was really sweet. It encapsulates the whole reason the thrift store exists, ACTS of kindness toward others. Beyond that, the store carried very nice merchandise. Many name brands, some high end (found a Yves Saint Laurent men's shirt) and tons of home goods, electronics, knick knacks, etc. I didn't have time to go through the whole store, but I'll definitely be returning. read more

My mom loves to go thrifting and we are regulars at the Pasadena location. We decided to make the drive to this location and we were surprised how big and spacious it was! We always come on Thursdays for the 40% off sale. Prices are reasonable; however, cheaper at the Pasadena location. It's a great place to find random workable household items. They always have a color of the week which is 50% off. Yelp 25% off does not apply on Thursdays. Parking is at the rear and they do have their own parking lot. Though it gets cramped on Thursdays due to the sale. Staff are very nice and helpful. read more

I used to shop here a TON when it was American Way and when I lived closer. It still resembles the old store in some ways, but the prices are def not as cheap. I used to get baby clothes and accessories for $.70 and less! Clothing for me $4 and less. Times have changed lol. However, with the changes it still isn't a bad place to stop by when in the area. I did manage to find some things for my son and the one on the way, under $10. Organization was okay, couldn't find maternity clothing. The girl at the cashier was very sweet. I would say they try to have good prices on things but the customer service here is awful. Employee turn over is probably high since I see new people all the time. The women at the counter act like they hate their jobs and when they try to be "nice" they come off as fake (trying too hard). I was helped by Gloria today and I noticed she was a lot nicer to the male customers than female ones and she was one of those "trying too hard/comes off fake" ones. I can also tell you that when you go in on a Wed., it's not a good day to ask for a price of anything because Thursdays are their sale day and when you ask for a price on an item without a tag on a Wed., you'll likely get a price double of what they would want normally. read more

Everything is overpriced. Everything in the boutique section is priced above overpriced and retail. The thrift store you took over for had better deals. I can't think of a thrift store I spent less time inside because everything was priced so high and I walked out. Example of high markups Stack of Xbox 360 games all tagged at $9.99 Some of the games in the pile go for $2-$5 after shipping on eBay. GameStop doesn't even have most of the games in the pile over $10. Don't send me a response. I won't read it. I am a lifelong thrift store lover, and this is one of the very best. It recently changed over from an American Way, and very much for the better. It's clean, well-organized, spacious, and professionally run. The staff is always so helpful and kind. They have fitting rooms, and a great furniture section. I picked up a near-new, quality wine stand for $20, and a set of awesome, vintage silver-rimmed wine glasses for $3. Don't forget to pay attention to the sales..... items tagged with the color of the day are half off! They'll also hold large items for a few days if you need to come back with a truck. It is just down the street from the mobile home parks and Crackhead Crossing, but the private parking lot in the back helps so that no one has ever bothered me. My favorite thrift store! read more

I've been at this location many years ago I was glad it was still here. Big location nothing fancy. Ac can use some work still can get pretty hot in the summer. They have manager special 40 off all store on Thursday nights. The prices are reasonable the furniture is great. As organized as it can be . Parking can get get full in the entrance is to the back of building. You get a coupon for a future trip with purchase. Will be keeping in touch. The staff is somewhat friendly. Sign up for the rewards. They do work with you if you buy furniture you can pickup within 24 hours from purchase with is helpful. No delivery. Can help with heavy items when I asked they didn't help.
