As an avid thrifter, I've gone to many, many thrift stores here in California. However, Red White & Blue Thrift Store is arguably one of the best in Covina. I have found so many treasures and great items here at this store--I even included some photos of my recent finds below! Unlike so many other thrift stores, this one actually has reasonable and sometimes even ridiculously low prices. I've found items such as great quality Lululemon clothing for under $10, and even recently found a Coach Bag for under $15. Additionally, the store is usually very organized--there are no piles of clothes on the floor or random items strewn around. Overall, this is one of my favorite thrift stores in Covina. This was my third trip there this summer and it has yet to disappoint. It's busy! The parking lot is full, but it's a big lot, so eventually you will find parking. Each visit I have come away with a few treasures to resell and this trip was no exception. I found a really cool Honda racing jacket which would have been perfect for my son if it was in his size and a new with tags LA Clippers jacket. Jessica was absolutely amazing! She was friendly, helpful, patient, and treated me with the kind of customer service you hope to receive every time you shop. I honestly wish all of the cashiers were like Jessica. Unfortunately, some of the other cashiers have been very rude, snotty, and unwelcoming, which can really affect a customer's experience. I think management should pay closer attention to how customers are being treated and recognize employees like Jessica who set the standard for excellent customer service. At the end of the day, customers are the ones making purchases and supporting the store, especially when so much of the merchandise is donated. Yesterday, 8/20 at around 3 PM , I walked into the Community Thrift outlet store. I grabbed a cart and began filling it with clothes. One of the cashiers, a woman with glasses and black hair, seemed rude and made me feel like she thought I was going to take the cart and leave. Shortly after, she went on her lunch break and another worker took over her position. At the end of this interaction, another lady walked in and recognized the cashier with glasses; she said, "be careful," and the worker responded, "I will." I shop at this store frequently and have always had positive experiences, which is why this visit stood out to me. Yesterday was especially difficult for me, as it was the day of my grandmother's funeral. For the past two months, I had been staying at the hospital with very little sleep--at most two hours at a time--and I came in hoping to relax and take my mind off everything. I've always appreciated the great prices here and often recommend this store to others. I've found brands like Lululemon and Free People for under $4, which is amazing. I also try to be a considerate customer. At checkout, I sorted through my items to make things easier instead of handing over a large pile and deciding what I didn't want at the register. I also removed hangers from items, as I have experience working in customer service and understand how helpful that can be. After purchasing my items, I went to the main store. Not even ten minutes later, I accidentally stood in the way of a worker while browsing. She said "excuse me" so she could place a hat on the rack, and I immediately apologized, as I hadn't realized I was in her way. I believe simple manners are important, especially when working in customer service. Overall, this experience felt very different from my usual visits. I wanted to share this feedback because I value this store and hope future visits reflect the positive environment I've come to expect. read more

While shopping, my girlfriend found a pair of pants and a polo shirt that we wanted to buy, so we put them in our cart. We continued looking around and accidentally left our cart unattended for a little while. We completely understand that if a cart is left behind, staff may collect it and return the items to the racks. When we went back to look for our cart, we saw two employees putting our items away. We politely explained that the cart was ours and asked if we could have our items back. Instead of returning everything, one employee took the pants without even asking if we still wanted them. She set them aside because she was planning to buy them herself after her shift. At first we were confused and thought she was just holding them while sorting things out. So we were just standing and waiting there confused. Then we went and asked another employee and she told us that the girl was about to clock out and intended to purchase the pants herself. That was honestly shocking. As an employee, you should prioritize helping the customer before trying to buy an item the customer had already picked. We later spoke to the manager and explained the situation. While we were talking, the employee came over and immediately became defensive. She raised her voice and kept insisting that the pants were never in our cart and were just on the sales rack, which simply wasn't true. Instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally, she argued with us. To make things even worse, she looked at my girlfriend and said, "Do you really want these pants that badly?" That comment was completely unnecessary, disrespectful, and showed a terrible attitude toward customers. The manager seemed to understand what had happened, but he did not really solve anything. This review isn't really about losing a pair of thrift store pants. It's just that the situation was really unfair. No customer should have to argue with an employee who is trying to buy an item that the customer had already selected. Mind you, she was still wearing a store uniform when we found the pants back. I hope management takes this seriously. The employee's behavior was unprofessional from start to finish, and someone with that kind of attitude should not be representing the store. Came back here for the first time since I was a kid. It truly brought back so much nostalgia. They've since then changed names and (I'm sure) owners. The selection was decent. Prices are kind of expensive for a thrift store. It was really busy people were fighting over parking spots. The cashier who helped us, named Melody, was a lovely lady who made my friend's and my evening. The proof: the parking lot was full when we arrived in the afternoon and the store was brimming with shoppers looking for a good deal. And there will still ones to be had. Large variety of clothes, home goods, and accessories. Things are organized by type of item, color, and lastly size, making things easy to find. Items were of good quality and priced decently (unlike some other thrift stores that think to price like eBay, IYKYK). Wait at the registers was quick, and the staff was friendly. Disturbing, Improper Handling of Currency and Customer Treatment Today I visited this location with my mother, whom I rarely get to see. Spending time together is important to me, and one of her favorite activities is thrift shopping. Earlier that same day, we had an excellent experience at one of your sister locations--clean store, friendly staff, and outstanding customer service from the cashier Melody. Based on that positive experience, we decided to visit this location as well. Unfortunately, the experience here was profoundly disappointing and concerning. We entered the store approximately ten minutes before closing. While we were not greeted, I understood it was near closing time. However, the environment quickly became uncomfortable due to repeated and abrupt announcements such as, "You all have five minutes," followed by "Two minutes, you better be up here." The tone was unnecessarily aggressive and not consistent with respectful customer service standards. At checkout, the two cashiers--identified as Irma and Fritzy--were speaking among themselves, avoiding eye contact with customers, and making comments about "getting people out." It was also at this point that I realized the store operates on a cash-only basis. My total came to $14.93, and I tendered a $20 bill. This was an older bill that I keep for sentimental reasons, as it was the first tip I received when I opened my first business. I currently own two businesses and am in the process of opening a third, and I work with cash transactions daily. The cashier immediately stated that the bill was counterfeit and refused to return it, stating that the police would need to be called. I calmly explained that it was simply an older bill and requested that it be returned to me. At this point, proper protocol for suspected counterfeit currency was not followed. A counterfeit detection pen was used and did not indicate the bill was counterfeit. Despite this, hand sanitizer was poured directly onto the bill and aggressively rubbed, nearly tearing it, yet nothing transferred or supported the claim that the bill was fake. Despite the lack of evidence, I was told, "I don't trust it," and the bill continued to be withheld. The cashier then instructed the other employee to photograph the bill--after it had already been shown not to fail standard counterfeit checks. For clarity: * Employees are not law enforcement and do not have authority to confiscate U.S. currency without proof. * If a bill is suspected, best practice is to decline the transaction and return the currency--not retain it, photograph it, or publicly accuse the customer. * Withholding personal property without cause or proof may constitute improper detention of property. To de-escalate the situation, my brother paid for the purchase. The entire interaction was humiliating and deeply upsetting. I felt publicly accused, judged, and profiled in front of my family and other customers--over a $20 bill, after having already spent several hundred dollars at your stores earlier that same day. The implication that we would attempt fraud over such a small amount was insulting. When I later called the store to request the name of the manager on duty, I was initially refused that information. I was eventually told that Irma, the same individual involved in the incident, was the acting manager at the time--raising serious concerns about accountability and misuse of supervisory authority. This experience raises significant concerns regarding: * Improper handling of suspected counterfeit currency * Lack of de-escalation training * Potential customer profiling * Failure to follow respectful and lawful customer service protocols I left the store shaken, embarrassed, and saddened--not just for myself, but for others who may have been treated similarly. This situation could have been handled discreetly, professionally, and respectfully. Instead, it resulted in unnecessary humiliation. I hope this review prompts serious internal review and corrective action. No customer should ever leave a store feeling degraded or judged based on assumptions or appearance. read more

I honestly really like coming here because they have a wide selection of different items like shoes, clothes, books, etc. Every time I've came, I've usually found something new to take home with me. Sometimes it's a bit busy so lots of people in the same aisle & in line to pay. It's a big thrift store compared to most which is what I like most about it. The staff are usually nice & do their job properly. The prices I think are fair but in some cases it might be overpriced for used items. read more

Stock is constantly being put out, everything's organized, the staff are kind, and the store is clean. But in all honesty, the resellers ruin it. It's the same group of men in the back every time.They're loud, disruptive, using vulgar and obscene language -- including racist and sexual remarks, camping entire aisles, and hovering over the women restocking racks like vultures. It's uncomfortable to watch and makes the space feel tense and competitive instead of enjoyable. Amazing store, terrible atmosphere in the back because nothing is being done about them. If management addressed that issue, this place would easily be 5 stars. read more

This is the best thrift store I've ever been too! I visit about every other week and NEVER leave emptyhanded. There is a huge selection of items, with the main store housing clothing, bags, jewelry, books, toys, trinkets, collectibles, and large furniture. There are two smaller stores on the side as well. One has electronics, sports equipment, and smaller furniture and the other has super discounted clearance clothing. Prices have gone up a little since Covid, but it is still fair and cheaper than Goodwill or buying new. Items are priced individually. Nicer & designer items can be priced higher, but most things range $1-8. The only annoyance is that they have recently changed the colors of the tags, some of which are very similar, making it hard to identify the color and therefore the price. There are individual men and women bathrooms with single stalls and a key. They're not the nicest, but they are usually clean. If you have big bags and backpacks you may be asked to put them in your car or behind the counter. There' is a security guard up front too. read more

This used to be one of my favorite spots for quite some time but the prices are absolutely ridiculous these days. The items that are being sold are used and given to the business for free and the up charged prices and nothing close to reasonable. Thrifting is no longer what it used to be here. Most of the time I can find a good piece or two but I don't think the price is worth returning. The staff here is also very rude especially the stocking staff. As a previous supervisor to retail employees, guest connections are valuable. This place however does not see that. If you have trouble stocking during store hours, I suggest having staff stock before or after opening hours. Moving through racks the staff with shove you and shove the hangers you are near to put in an item. Now I understand this may be the way they are told to do things and in a quick manner but it definitely doesn't encourage people to return. I was also looking through racks and felt as if I was being watched and it was one of the cashiers staring, as I made eye contact with the lady she gave me the most unexpected dirty look. There is so much stuff here! Everything is color-coordinated and nothing is by sizes. I can't sit there for hours and look for a size. I get that they were trying to be organized but color coordination is just not where it's at! Please organize by sizes and not color. Looking for anything is a complete nightmare here. It's essentially organized chaos to me. If I'm a certain size I want to go and look on a rack for that size. I think that would be better than just color coordination!
