Beware! This company has low trained employees that have no idea what they are doing. The doctors are not much better. Five years ago, my husband was diagnosed with glaucoma by this people. Every 6 months he went in for check ups. Each time he was told how horrible his problem was. Since we are on a limited income, we never searched for a second opinion. He had to put drops in his eyes twice a day. These drops stung his eyes. Today we went to a different eye doctor with a very reputable country wide company. He not only was told that he didn't have glaucoma but that in fact, for a 84 year old man, His eyes were in very condition. It does not stop there..... I had my glasses done by Aquity. They were never right and I still had trouble seeing - even after going back for two years. When I went t to this new doctor, lo and behold - my prescription was clear glass from Aquity. My dilemma is how do these people stay in business?!?! read more

This optometrist office is uterly atrocious, the surprise will be on them, I have tried severall times to reach anyone in their office, different times of the day, various days, to speak with somone, anyone, to no avail. However there is 1-professional at the Palm Springs office and her name is Airam, I have no polite words for the others. Their employees are not only ill mannered, but flat out lazy. They are better suited as a greeter at Wal-mart. The unprofessional in the contact lens area would not even pick up a calculator to tell me how many boxes of contact lenses my insurance would cover, attitude, she is so rude. I am not very happy with acuity Eye Group. The folks that took care of me were grand. But I had an infection in my left eye that needed to be checked. The nurse. That took care of me said I was there for a yearly check on my eye pressure. I would not see a physician but they would send my results in to one. along with a Rx for eye gtts If needed. So I left without anything for my R eye infection. Will I be charged for a Drz.s visit.?? Isn't it strange to go to an eye Dr. with a possible infection and nobody saw it? Just saying! read more

My right eye's IOL was detached after 22 years. I saw MD Vitaliy Zak at the Palm Desert Aquity Eye Care. He proposed a Vitriectomy, which allows the removal of the detached IOL surgically. When I obtained a copy of his exam report, I saw that he added a misdiagnosis: That I had laser surgeries for Diabetic Retinopathy, which I never had. Dr. Zak is specialized in Diabetic Retinopathy surgeries. Apparently, when he would do the Vitriectomy, he would have a great opportunity to damage my retina, so he would expand the surgery to Diabetic Retina surgery, as he already lied on the record when falsely diagnosing me with Diabetic Retinopathy. Up his alley, and more money.... He knew that I don't have Diabetic Retinopathy. I explained to him in detail that the laser surgeries I had were for "halo symptom corrections" after IOL implant surgery. Yet, he lied on the record, alleging the laser surgeries were for Diabetic Retinopathy, so he would get away with injuring my retina to "justify" a Diabeti Retina surgery down the line. For days I am emailing him and Acuity Eye Group to correct his misdiagnosis, but they don''t answer. Needless to say I won't have anything done at Acuity. They attach wrong diagnosis to patients to route patients to needless surgeries. CROOKS ! PS: Dr. Zak says he is Russion. His Ophtalmology is from Donezk / Ukraine. Don't walk, RUN AWAY ! read more

I went to Dr. Fish, to have upgraded mult-ifolcal lens replacment, I was told that I would have perfect vision. From the moment I opened my eyes, my vision was blurred. The upgraded lens was suppose to offer both near and far site. I now cannot see across the room, my experience with Dr. Fish is very simular to that of Curt H. review 8-23-22 The facility has refused to speak to me. Dr. Fish and his staff refuse to make me an appointment to discuss any corrective measures. I now see worse than I did with the cataract. I have 20/70 vision in my left eye. I can hardly see my own hands, I cannot see the television from 12 feet away. I can barely drive and even with corrective lenses I cannot make out street signs while driving a car. I later found out from Dr. Moreles that Dr. Fish intentionally adjusted my site to be near sited in my left eye. To this day I have made 17 phone calls I have reported it to my insurance company, but not heard one word from Dr. Fish or Acuity eye group. read more

It looks as if they have updated and freshened up their office space with better lighting and paint so it felt bright and cheery. I was recommended to this group by my primary care physician after testing showed I had cataracts and needed cataract surgery. I attempted to schedule an appointment for two weeks, each time being connected with an automated phone bank with no options to speak to a real person and being left on hold indefinitely or until I hung up in frustration. It's my understanding the phone bank is in Pasadena yet the "local" office is in Palm Desert. How they are in business is beyond me. After doing my own research I found a very qualified ophthalmologist and will be referring anyone that asks to him. I rarely make reviews but in this case I felt it was necessary to put any future patients on notice of what to expect. To avoid two weeks of your life you will never get back find another doctor. I felt I had to share my experience. This was my first visit to this upstairs office. I had no problem with the staff or the doctor however the office was FILTHY! Okay here I go...The carpet should be replaced or at least vacuumed. There was NO air circulation and the vents in the ceiling haven't been cleaned, had black dirt on them. Also there was a strange odor, like a locker room, in one of the rooms I was placed. Everything looked like it needed a good cleaning from windows washed to mega dusting. The waiting chairs were dirty and the cushions were cracked and peeled rotten, they looked like something from a war torn country. Acuity needs to update this office and bring it up to a standard of at least a 3 world country instead of spending the money on TV commercials. Also, I choose to use the restroom downstair at the Retina Center hoping that looked better then upstair...Wrong, toilet smelled of urine and the toilet itself needed to be flushed, I waited. I had lens relacement at this office. Not only did they several times lose my records, mess up mysurgery date and mess up with my insuance information beofre the suregery day- they forgot that they called me in twice to come have the pre -op visit. Whe I went in the second time, I mentiomed this to them..instead of admitting the erro, and apologizing for making me drive there twice.... They just tried to chance the subject. Too mant receptionists, and offices...they do not comunicate with eachother well at all. Day of sugery, they ran the patients like it was a Goverment office. Some one actually said in the crowed lobby that they felt like we being treated like cows...very little perosnal warmth or service from staff what so ever. After the surgery , I had lots of probelms ( eye reddening , swelling, stabbing pain, and extreme watering) although I followed all after care instruction snad took my medicine. I called them twice and recieved no help what so ever from them. I couldnot drive my car in two differnt occasions my eye became so swollen it was unusable, and I was in severe pain -it was scary.. When I called them, first I was told very non chalentely that I might need a laser precedure as well by a receptionist...not even a doctor examing me. No appointment to see me. The second time after a scary problem on the highway on the way back for LA ..I could barely drive, eye swelled up and turned beet red, with severe pain and migrane....when I called their Emercgency line twice and left messages for a doctor on " call" I received absolutley no call back. I am trying to get my insurance company to find a different Eye Group because I need to have my other eye corrected too ..and I DO NOT TRUST THIS COMANY with y other eye. They are not doctors. They are the medical equivalent of a puppy mill. I have been a loyal patient for five years (four surgeries and two procedures) and have purchased lenses & frames 2x. I finally had my eye exam to get the prescription for new glasses after going through years of eye surgeries - 2 floater surgeries which caused me to have premature cataracts, so 2 cataract surgeries and 2 YAG procedures to clear the clouded new lenses. There were very few moments where I felt that they were decent and caring physicians, for the most part, they were squirrelly and shady. By that, I mean that questions are their Kryptonite. Every time I asked a simple question, no matter what doctor - they became nervous, didn't answer then rushed me out of there....kinda felt like I was at a free clinic. Never once, did I feel that I had adequate medical care or attention. I could not figure out what was so strange about their behavior. Today, when at the appointment that I was so looking forward to - Dr. Q was uncharacteristically "not present". He was nervous and refused to answer my standard questions regarding the lenses. He made no sense and I felt like he didn't even know who I was or had any clue about my medical history with their "practice" Then it occurred to me- he's a nice person who got into medicine to help people, but now he's a sell out. They must get paid by the volume of appointments or something like that. I believe that they were so shady and weird about answering questions because the issues that I was having were a direct result of their incompetence and they are terrified of being liable. That's the energy...greed, guilt and shame. Don't trust your eyesight to these HACKS. read more

I have never been so disrespected, treated rudely and verbally abused by any Healthcare Provider, At my first appt a week ago to see a Retinal Specialist, I was denied to ask any questions. the doctor told me that he would fix the problem with my left eye but he needed authorization from my Insurance for "eye drops" and I was to come back the following week. I was not allowed to voice any concerns re my "recently new" vision changes. He proceeded to inform me,(without an exam) that he has been in practice for years and I had to trust him. So I come back and go thru the same process as last week. Was never asked to sign anything then. Now a tech came with papers to have me sign a consent. When I asked what for? I was told "you have to get an injection in your eye - the doctor will explain." I was terrified and I refused to sign until he could explain his plan. The doctor came into the room just as he did on first visit. Telling him why I refrained signing a consent, he became annoyed toward me, saying, "you can leave" Is this how you treat patients? He got up furious and motioned to his tech, "Get her out of here!" I was heading toward the door to leave while still asking him why was I denied rights of informed consent. It is very frustrating when you need to get a hold of them and they will not answer the phone. Today I tried to reach my Ophthalmologist to get a refill for my glaucoma drops. Zero STARS! My mother had to have cataract surgery in July. Desert Oasis medical group referred her here. Avoid if you can! You can not get through to office as your calls get detoured to Pasadena if they do not pick up. Pasadena's call center will call their office and they are unable to get through, or you may be on hold for 45 minutes with no one picking up. We ordered her first pair of glasses on Sept. 4, this INCORRECT PAIR came in on the 18th of September. Laura apologized for her mistake. It is now October 11th and we are still waiting for her glasses to come in. Yesterday my sister and mother drove there to inquire. Laura shared they should be here this afternoon (yesterday) or tomorrow (Today 10/11/24). We have tried today and cannot get through! Their call center tried calling and they cannot get through. We have a call in to the manager, Allen Finn and he is supposed to call us back before 5 today. If you can avoid this place, DO SO! This is the worst clinic for customer service or being able to get any help on the phone. If you call them, they immediately place you on hold and never answer. If you do get through, you go to voice mail, which is almost always full and unable to take your message(s). Our scheduled surgery was cancelled and the schedule won't call is back after the numerous messengers we were able to leave when the V/M allowed, in addition to the many verbal request we had when able to speak to her. Her promises to call back go unfulfilled. Detailed messages left with the receptionist go unanswered as well. Very frustrating ~ choose another care provider. read more

I have been lucky enough to have Dr. Mao as my primary optometrist for the past couple years. I knew there was something special about the way she conducts her work the very first visit I had with her, when she was very diligent with getting my vision dialed in for my spectacles. By golly, when those glasses came in, I could finally see again after decades of trying. I cant even tell you how many places and other doctors must have been prescribing me the wrong glasses! At that time, I got my eyes dilated and she found a previously undetected medical condition. It was in it's early stages so I am lucky her attention to detail was able to pick it up and save my vision! Well that was many moons ago for this old fart, and since then I have been getting very good results with my treatment at Acuity Eye Group. Be warned, sometimes the wait can be long at this office. I see long waits at more and more offices nowadays (from the ER to other doctors' to automobile repair shops). It's a real shame, must be the labor shortages they talk about on the local news channel. read more

If I could give them no stars I would. I scheduled appointments for both my 90 wheelchair bound mother and I to get exams. They seemed pleasant on the phone and scheduled 2 appts. at the time I requested. About a week later, they called and asked to change one of the appt. I told them they have to change both. They did, this was ok as it was still a week out. Once we arrived 20 minutes early, there was no parking in their lot. I waited and waited and finally got lucky about 100 yards from the building. I walked along the walkway with my mother and saw the sign and it said not an entrance please go upstairs. We hunted for the very tiny elevator and went upstairs. The one of the two doors that was unlocked opened backwards to the elevator and was difficult to maneuver the wheelchair. We get inside only to be informed that we were in the wrong building. We had to go back downstairs and further away to the last building. We walk in and notice a fairly large waiting area with maybe 75 seats. Every single seat is full. Screaming running children, seniors etc. We check in and I specifically as if the doc is running ontime. I had my doubts. We were still 10 mins early for our appts. I was able to find a seat and my mother stayed in her chair. We site there for 30 mins and the lines of people keep growing. I finally get up to ask about the fact she told me the doc was on time. She smiles and says she only has two more patients ahead of us. I ask how long to expect that to be she says 30 to 45 more minutes. ON TIME MY A***. We walked out and I beg all of you to not go. They need to respect our time as much as the ask us to respect theirs!!! And I mean they called me no less then 6 times with voice and text to confirm that we would be on time!! Stay away!!!! Frustrating and confusing - 3 stars and declining First I would say the the cataract surgery outcome was good but, I was waiting for my insurance to begin and asked them to bill me and they told me that they would not perform the surgery unless I paid upfront which I did. I paid the full amount of the Doctor's fees and the rental of the space the morning of my surgery and since that time, I have continued to receive bills asking for much more money than they had originally quoted me and that I had paid. Furthermore, when I arrived the day of surgery, I asked if I was supposed to be on prophylactic meds prior to the surgery and the girls at the front said yes and asked if I was. I told them no and they told me to NOT tell the surgery team or they would cancel my surgery and that I would be ok if I started taking the meds immediately after. They told me that they would call in my meds immediately so they would be ready for me when I left the office. The meds were NOT ready. I can only assume that everyone was too focused on my payment for the surgery and NOT on the patient that the important issues like the patient was overlooked. Again today, I received yet another SURPRISE bill asking me to pay $5265.00. I called the billing department and the billing person listened to my explanation and told me that I need to follow up with them by monitoring my email for their explanation but, she told me NOT to worry about it being sent to collections! My confidence in Acuity Eye Group is as cloudy as my last cataract! read more

When I first arrived the waiting room was full, it was 8:40am and I thought with all those patients that early in the morning it was a bad sign! But I was delighted to find that I was taken quickly into the rooms for diagnosis. I had two terrific young women perform the tests on me and in about half an hour we were done! I had a short wait for the doctor to review the results and give me her diagnosis and off I went. It all took less than an hour. The staff is friendly and well organized. Not only did we have to wait 3 hours after our appointment time but Dr. Kweku Grant was condescending and arrogant. I have never been treated the way that he treated me. The Vision Center that dispenses out the glasses has got to be the worst experience I have ever encountered when it comes to obtaining glasses. You will find out how much they don't care about you or your vision needs should anything come up that needs attention. 13 months ago, I purchased a set of Oakley sunglasses which I had my prescription filled into them. Whoever they use for filling the prescriptions into their glasses does substandard work. I have a pair of cheap Guess sunglasses and the anti glare coating that went into these is far superior to the designer prescription sunglasses I paid $800 for. I told them that and they could care less. I asked about it and they had no answer. In the 13th month, the coating is beginning to flake so I brought them back today. Their guarantee goes for 12 months. The correct answer from a customer service standpoint after a customer had paid $800 for a pair of Oakleys that I later found online, the exact same pair that I could have had my prescription filled into would have cost me only $300, so they price gouge there as well. The correct business decision would have been just to take them back and fix the shoddy workmanship instead, I was told that an email was sent to someone asking for an authorization to rework the glasses because I was in the 13th month of a 12 month guarantee. Regardless of what the outcome here is, I will never use this place to purchase glasses ever again. Read my post and all the others and you will see the pattern they have made for themselves of substandard service and shoddy work and frankly, the girl I spoke to in the glasses section was just mean and nasty. update: I received a call today from the company this place used to make their prescriptions. It turns out that the sales girl at the eye center was not honest with me and ill informed as to what is offered when she is selling glasses so protection I was led to believe that I had on these $800 glasses I do not have. The representative told me that he had heard several patients telling him the same thing I have about misinformation being given so they all know it's a problem. Ultimately, he offered me 40% off to remake the lenses. He did a lot of fast talking and when I stopped him and broke down all the things he was trying to fast talk past me, it was revealed that he was just as dishonest and the woman in the vision center is. My sister Lisa and I were very pleased with Acuity Eye Group. The manager, Ariana, spent a half an hour with us on the phone detailing the plans they have in place to protect their patients against Covid, as we are both highly immuno-compromised people. Acuity Eye Group got Lisa right in for an emergency eye appointment first thing in the morning. On the day of treatment,we had checked in at the wrong door, but Lorena was wonderful, and Acuity took our appointment anyway so that we did not have to reschedule. Dr. Samuel was very confident in knowing Lisa's eyes were OK and what kind of plan to make, and what to expect for future treatment for her eye condition. Their billing department is impossible to work with. I've been sent a bogus bill for my copay in spite of the fact that I paid it at the time of service by credit card and can prove it. Nobody will fix this for me. I have called, I have messaged, I offer proof...the pestering bills just keep coming. I am starting to get the feeling that this is part of their business model...send fraudulent bills and hope to get extra cash. It is very hard to get ahold of their billing department. Long wait times are part of the scam. I will NEVER come back to this medical group ever again. It is not worth the hassle, and they are shady with their billing. I recommend others stay away as well. If you do use this office, make sure to scrutinize your billing closely. They WILL attempt to cheat you. read more
