I was referred by my primary doctor. When I arrived and finally got called I was seen by a tech instead of a doctor. I told the tech I had been having vision problems and thought I might have and infection or something. He tested my eyes with their machines and told me I would be contacted in a couple of days. It's been a couple of days and my right eye is hurting me. I am really disappointed that my referral to an ophthalmologist was not by a real doctor, but by a tech. I definitely will make sure that the next referral by my primary is questioned and that the referral is to a doctor , not a tech standing in. read more

Wanted to share the horrible experience with Acuity Eye Care PD, 2nd floor The exam resulted in a prescript which was far off from my previous ones and inaccurate. So much so the office Mgr got a refund for the exam approved. But it was never sent. Then they wanted just under $1400 for a pair of glasses with progressive lens. Tried to email the corporate offices and the first post that came up was about Acuity under investigation for Medicare fraud. Not one or two cases but TEN. Got a second exam from Costco...Professional, accurate and great value. Got a pair of glasses for less than $300. You could pay for the membership and still save over a $1,000... Be aware of Acuity eye care centers...... just my take. read more

Filthy bathrooms should have been a clue. I learned nothing from my exam so I requested. my file and doctors notes. Acuity ignored my request twice. . Now it is time to file a complaint with the state regulatory agency. This Group is unprofessional and too disorganized to trust with medical care. I will get my file with the help of the state medical board, however I would not trust these charlatans to provide any medical services. I should reduce their rating to a single star. read more

Very strange eye appointment. It was done via video chat.the techs did the pictures in the eye. When I saw something unusual and asked about it, the techs were not authorized to answer my questions. By the time the Dr came on video I couldn't remember what I wanted to ask about. read more

I believe this organization is overwhelmed with patients and this has resulted in poor follow up procedures. I had a cataract evaluation over a year ago, at that time a follow up evaluation was recommended and booked, I had that follow up (tests only, did not see an ophthalmologist) and was told I would be contacted soon with results of the evaluation, almost 2 weeks later I still have not been contacted. I finally called today - still waiting and supposedly someone will be contacting me with results. read more

We were expecting to have our annual eye exam. We were told on phone we'd have eye drops so we called for a driver to pick us up at home and after the exam. This did not happen. My eyes were tested by an assistant and was told I'd receive a phone call to make my/our next appointment. She was excellent. Not her fault we did not have a thorough exam. Doctor Q was very unprofessional when they couldn't find the insurance he came out and told me "YOU DONT HAVE INSURANCE" in front of the whole waiting room. They gave me the incorrect eye prescription too! Long waits, horrible service, I don't recommend going here. read more

I recently had a eye exam at Costco Optical but I took my prescription to Acuity because I couldn't find glasses frames I like. Once I received my glasses (2 pairs of progressive lenses, and one for reading/ computer) I tried them for a week, but felt something wasn't correct, actually I was not able to use the reading glasses and noticed the progressive glasses didn't not provide a sharper vision than my old glasses. So, I asked Acuity to perform a New eye test. And we found that the prescription provided at Costco was different than what the Acuity test showed ( it's my conclusion that Costco prescription was wrong for me). And to my surprise, Acuity is going to redo all the lenses for all the 3 frames with the correct prescription AT NO COSTS to me!!. Now, this is what I call SUPER customer service. In my opinion, not even Amazon could match this! I highly recommend you go to Acuity for all your vision needs. From the Optometrist (Dr. Ta-Nu), the Technician (Yesenia) and the two Opptician (Alexis and Allison), you will receive the best treatment and attention you deserve. New office staff that can speak fluently to the elderly. Made an appointment last week. The girl that took my appointment told me my Dr that I've been going no longer worked there. They have horrible parking out there. Most of patients are elderly and it's hard to park. HATE the off-shore, probably India-based, call center now handling general calls. The solution to the lousy call answering ability in your offices was NOT that, but training of staff and hiring of additional dedicated staff for handling calls. Especially as a Medicare Advantage vision referral, this is unacceptable with the sheer number of seniors in this area. Additionally, I should NOT have to choose English as my first interaction with your company in California. Most companies use a simple fix by having "For Spanish, choose 1" as their intro. Easily done and much more appropriate as well as efficient. read more

Dr Alanis makes you feel very comfortable, and his staff very friendly however it took me 11 calls and 1 hr and 48 mins. for someone to finally answer, always transfering me and getting the recorded message, when I finally got an answer the girl was VERY dismissive and rather rude. The acuity group are very well equipped to handle all kinds of eye surgeries and answer all questions. the work they do is truly a miracle. to lose your eyesight is a very scary experience. I didn't think I would ever see good again. contacts just didn't work anymore. I found I had cataracts, and was glad they diagnosed them. BEWARE! If they screw up you won't get your money back! I went in to get my eyes check to the El Paseo office over a couple months ago. When I first got my reading glasses back the prescription was way off and I see better just using my readers. So at that point I tried what I was told to do (that my eyes would adjust) and they did not because again.. the prescription was way off. So I decided to just go with my readers. In the meantime, I was told if I wanted sunglasses with glare protection it would cost me out of pocket. I wanted a specific Oakley frame so because of that I went ahead and said ok, I'll pay for the frames. Note: my eyes are not that bad and I can get by without any glasses at all (except for readers) but I was looking for the glare protection for night driving. Again, I can get by without anything but chose to move forward with it because I wanted a specific pair of Oakley frames. Once I came back to get those glasses the prescription was still a bit off but most importantly the glasses just fell right off my head. So, at that point they said they would have to recheck my eyes. When I came back for the second check up I was told that "none of the Oakley frames would work because the prescription flattens the frames out too much and that is why they are falling off my head. Therefore, I cannot get the frames I want". I told them I would have never coughed up the $500something to get the Oakley frames or even gotten glasses for driving if they could not be the Oakley frames. At that point I was told by the manager that I need to change which frame I wanted because their company does not do refunds, which is Ridiculous! If I can't have the frames I want I would've never gone down this path. That office has dropped the ball a number of times not to mention the reading glasses prescription that was way off. Out $500 and ZERO glasses :( read more

Completely depends on the doctor you get. If you aren't happy, demand to see another doctor. After successful cataract surgery, I had an issue with having a fog over my eyes but the doctor ( who is no longer with them ) kept telling me she didn't see anything and I was fine. After finally asking to see someone else, was told yeah, he saw it and they could fix that AND that I had macular degeneration that the original doctor had noted on my chart a year ago but never told me! After another procedure, the fog issue was fixed perfectly. Just wish it didn't take 1.5 years for someone to listen! read more

My right eye's IOL was detached after 22 years. I saw MD Vitaliy Zak at the Palm Desert Aquity Eye Care. He proposed a Vitriectomy, which allows the removal of the detached IOL surgically. When I obtained a copy of his exam report, I saw that he added a misdiagnosis: That I had laser surgeries for Diabetic Retinopathy, which I never had. Dr. Zak is specialized in Diabetic Retinopathy surgeries. Apparently, when he would do the Vitriectomy, he would have a great opportunity to damage my retina, so he would expand the surgery to Diabetic Retina surgery, as he already lied on the record when falsely diagnosing me with Diabetic Retinopathy. Up his alley, and more money.... He knew that I don't have Diabetic Retinopathy. I explained to him in detail that the laser surgeries I had were for "halo symptom corrections" after IOL implant surgery. Yet, he lied on the record, alleging the laser surgeries were for Diabetic Retinopathy, so he would get away with injuring my retina to "justify" a Diabeti Retina surgery down the line. For days I am emailing him and Acuity Eye Group to correct his misdiagnosis, but they don''t answer. Needless to say I won't have anything done at Acuity. They attach wrong diagnosis to patients to route patients to needless surgeries. CROOKS ! PS: Dr. Zak says he is Russion. His Ophtalmology is from Donezk / Ukraine. Don't walk, RUN AWAY ! read more

Beware! This company has low trained employees that have no idea what they are doing. The doctors are not much better. Five years ago, my husband was diagnosed with glaucoma by this people. Every 6 months he went in for check ups. Each time he was told how horrible his problem was. Since we are on a limited income, we never searched for a second opinion. He had to put drops in his eyes twice a day. These drops stung his eyes. Today we went to a different eye doctor with a very reputable country wide company. He not only was told that he didn't have glaucoma but that in fact, for a 84 year old man, His eyes were in very condition. It does not stop there..... I had my glasses done by Aquity. They were never right and I still had trouble seeing - even after going back for two years. When I went t to this new doctor, lo and behold - my prescription was clear glass from Aquity. My dilemma is how do these people stay in business?!?! read more
