Absolutely wonderful! I initially stopped into China Life as I was interested in the array of teas. Mind you, I found this place by accident by heading the wrong way while looking for my London flat. This was the best wrong turn I have ever taken! As someone who travels a great deal, sits at a computer all day, and has some neck and back issues...I am always in need of a good massage. When I realized that China Life and AcuMedic were one, I immediately inquired about a massage. Ciara was so cheerful and so very helpful. After explaining my needs, without hesitation she recommended Gio for my massage. I scheduled a couple of days out and could not wait for the treatment after some long days of travel and unfamiliar beds. There are no words to describe the massage Gio gave! I knew the moment he gave me a firm handshake that this man was going to relieve my aches and pains. He asked me what problems that I have and I could see that he was visually assessing my needs as we chatted for a few minutes before the treatment. I prefer deep tissue given all of my neck and back issues, but I was in London on holiday and did not want to risk a headache or wanting only to go to bed afterwards. He understood my needs and gave me a few moments to get comfortable. This was, without a doubt, the BEST and most therapeutic massage I have ever had....and I have had many. I told Gio that I was going to have to take him back to the States with me! I have never felt so much relief the next day. He truly is a healer and I am already thinking about the next time I am in London and that an appointment (or two) with Gio will be the first thing that I plan. Based on my overall experience in China Life and AcuMedic, I would assume that all of the services are exceptional and would happily spend some time here if time allowed. Had a deep tissue massage here, was good massage though I paid for 40mins and was only massaged for 30! I had to wait to be seen and they obviously start the counter from the actual time of booking, not the time they started, which is a complete ripoff, and for that reason I wouldnt come back here again. Also, they make you wait in the china life cafe, where there were no seats and when i was called in for my appt, i was shoved by customers leaving the cafe.. A bit rude and silly layout for what is to be a relaxing and enjoybale experience (after an hour on Oxford street, the last thing i want when im going for a massage is to be shoved!) read more

Booked a consultation at £45 with Dr. Lily at Acumedic. She turned up almost an hour after my booking time with no apology and never even bothered to examine me or diagnose my chronic breast condition. Just spouted off about yin and yang, proceeding to prescribe herbs and tablets for a further £200. I was booked for another fake consultation and a course of acupuncture but did not attend as someone who doesn't bother to conduct a physical examination cannot be trusted with your health and wellbeing. Completely unprofessional and I will certainly never approach this useless woman or her company again! read more

Dr Lily was highly recommended to me. I was told the first consultation would be £65. This consisted of my notes being taken and an acupuncture session by a colleague of hers, followed by a consultation with the doctor herself. I thought this was very reasonable. After my consultation with Dr Lily, she gave me a prescription for herbs and other tinctures and directed me to the pharmacy downstairs to have them made up. I was handed a carrier bag of stuff and a bill for a total of £276. This was for two weeks' supply. I was shocked. I was expecting maybe £20 or £30. I think patients should be alerted to the fact that their medication is going to be very expensive before the consultation. I understand that the cost will vary, but some idea would be helpful. Many people cannot afford that kind of money. I only stuck with the herbs for just over a week as they made my stomach problems worse. Maybe it's intended to get worse before it gets better. If that's the case it would have been helpful to know what to expect! read more

Couldn't get past the rudeness on the phone. Have driven past this place many a time and thought I'll check this place out one day... So today I rang up to make an appointment as a first time customer and the receptionist/person in charge of taking my booking was very rude. I suggested a time, she then suggested a time 15 mins earlier which I couldn't do, she sighed, and then offered me another time a bit later which I agreed to, but then I was told "if you don't come on time we will refuse to see you" I simply said I'm sorry but I don't think I find your attitude acceptable but thanks anyway. I'm sorry, but this is no way to speak to first time customers and I found this really unacceptable. Luckily there are other providers in the area so I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Dr. Lily is a fraud, fraud, fraud. Avoid this place at all expenses. Dr. Lily adopts a hit and run approach to treatment, she sells you as much herbs as she can upfront knowing that when they don't work you can not return them while they've taken your money already. I saw her few times for joint pain which is not as complicated as other cases described below. My experience was very negative. Here is why: After the first consultation, she prescribed herbs for boiling and drinking each day. Each bag weighs about 150 gm, containing 15 Chinese herbs and costing 9 pounds a day. She pushed me so hard to buy three months supply, around 810 pounds .Following a Turkish Bazzar bargain and under her verbal threat that no one else can cure my condition, I accepted to buy few weeks supply, she then prescribed 2 additional pills/capsules costing 30 pounds each to take with the original herbs for two reasons; 1) to compensate for the 3 months supply, I did not buy. 2) to get red of these bottles that are sitting on the shelves , about to expire and of no use anyway. I heard other patients complaining of the nonsense of these pills. When I checked the pills content, I found that many are already in the herb tea bags she gave me. The HERBS she prescribed me to drink daily triggered very bad reaction, way more serious that my original complain, that is of sharp stomach pain followed by vomiting and other serious reaction that I don't wish to elaborate here . Rather that adjusting the original formula, something any decent TCM herbalist will do, she prescribed another 9 pound bag of herb to add to the original, mix, boil and drink both. This way she can end up selling me 18 pounds a day supply rather than amending the original 9 pounds bag day supply. She was not happy I did not buy 3 months supply and so desperate to make it up in every possible way. The second formula did not help either and when I told her she became quite irritated, and less courteous. She had no ears to listen to anything I was saying, she kept repeating that I needed to give it more time, that is to buy more and more again. I realized then that this lady had nothing to offer, she makes money buy selling in bulk, upfront as she can not do anything about it later on. I tried another herbalist at this clinic who turned out to be more desperate than Dr. Lily. He said that they can not solve health problem in few months as it takes years 5-7-10 to resolve health issues. Meaning you will be spending thousands and thousands a year on the hope that one day your condition might improve. This is the business model of this fraudulent business. The clinic is inflected with Dr. Lily's photos carrying babies; singles, twin, triplets, all shapes and sizes. as if they had some manufacturing line. Needless to say, many people desperate for a child frequent this place. I wonder how much have the pocketed out of them! During the CONSULTATION, Dr. Lily will consume the time taking about TCM theory, something you expected to be unfamiliar with. She will not explain your condition in detail, her diagnosis ( which will turn out to be wrong anyway), or her approach to resolving it and why she is prescribing this or that. The HERBAL FORMULAS she uses are available in every Chinese medicine book. she is not re-inventing the wheel. A skillful TCM herbalist should have three essentials, the right diagnoses, the right prescription/ formula and the ability to adjust the formula to your condition when needs be. In all truthfulness, I found Dr. Lily short of all three skills of a true TCM Dr. and herbalist. She is at best a very tricky sales person of Chinese herbs. The herbs she sells you are widely available and way more cheaper in Asia and online. She abuses the name and the profession of the TCM when she knows quite well that she can not deliver. Otherwise she would have been able to deliver her promise to me.That's what make her a big FRAUD, so does anyone else in this place who claims to have the skills they don't. My advise is to read the ingredients of any TCM herbal formula prescribed to you by TCM practitioner, you can find the ingredients name whether in Chinese. or English on sacredlotus.com and read about their functions and common used formulas. Prepare to ask your Chinese herbalist about his/ her diagnoses for your condition, what formula they are using and why. If it does not suit you, your body will let you know very soon. Remember a greedy doctor is not a good doctor, he/she is only after your money. they don't care about anything else. Regretfully, licencing has become so easy that anyone can have TCM shop these days. One final word. please note that many businesses today write very positive reviews on review sites. I booked an acupuncture session at the AcuMedic centre to help pain in my left shoulder. The treatment was very enjoyable (although it hasn't help yet, I probably need a few more sessions). Before the acupuncture, I was given an assessment by the doctor and was told I needed to take herbs to restore my health. I pointed out that I just wanted acupuncture for my shoulder at this stage, but the doctor was very pushy and insisted on me taking a 3 month treatment. I was never explained what the herbs were, and what they would do to improve my health. When I went down to pay my acupuncture (£65), I was told I had to pay an extra £160 for my first 20 days supply of Chinese herbs! I was shocked. The doctor never asked me whether I could afford that sort of treatment, insisting in a 3 month treatment (that would then cost about £750!), it was pure pressure selling. I paid for my acupuncture and left. I definitely won't go back there, it felt more like a scam than a medical centre unfortunately. read more

I recently landed in London after an intense two week work trip in France. I live in Australia so had asked my friend to recommend a good place for a massage. She suggested China Life (she's a weekly visitor..lucky her). I called on the off chance on a Sunday and got in for late afternoon. I opted for a Chinese Deep Tissue massage - and deep it was. I am not a fan of the softly softly approach and this masssage was perfect. Felt like the therapist was really in tune with my body. The atmosphere is relaxing but with emphasis on health and healing rather than just relaxation. Take some time to explore both the treatments on offer and the benefits of Chinese medicine. The service was terrible. I met Dr Xiao Hang Gong for a consultation. All she cares about is to sell expensive Chinese medicine. She was pushing hard for Acupuncture but I dont have problem with my body. She was rude and only interested in seeing the next customer. I never want to use Acumedic centre again. read more
