Botched the Toric lens replacement for one of my eyes. My vision is worse in that eye than it was prior to the surgery. Not Good!!

Dr. Steven Johnson was a recommendation from my insurance agent. He had great success so I went to…read moresee if my cataracts were ready to be removed. Dr. Johnson was great about discussing my eyes and the choices for lenses. His staff is very helpful and concerned about my well being. After all the tests, I indeed need surgery. It was scheduled by Lorraine that day and she even coordinated with Dr. Daniel Hile for checks in between surgeries. It was an amazing surgery at San Luis Surgery Center. I felt very safe and was cared for. Thank you all for a great experience.

My optometrist told me I had cataracts and recommended Dr. Johnson at Central Coast Eye. Short…read morestory: Everything went extremely well. The results exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend Dr. Johnson. If you want more details read on. My eyesight has always been problematic. The amblyopia in my right eye was not diagnosed when I was a child. As a result, I have never had binocular vision. The lens for my right eye has basically been a thick magnifying glass for the last 50+ years. On my first visit with Dr. Johnson, I was impressed with the thoroughness of the exam and friendliness of his staff. Dr. Johnson characterized my eyes as "challenging" because in addition to the amblyopia in my right eye I have a partial hole in the macula of my left eye. On top of that, I had astigmatisms in both eyes. He recommended a modified blended vision option with an intermediate focal point lens for the amblyopic eye and a monofocal distance lens for the left eye. Both lenses would be sized to increase my visual acuity to their maximum potential and thereby minimize the need for glasses - except for reading. I was a bit hesitant and lobbied for a multi-focal lens or an extended depth of field lens for my dominant left eye since that is what many in my peer group had successfully received. He carefully explained why that would produce a poor outcome for me. I heeded his advice. I had the two cataract surgeries a week a part. My world is now brighter and clearer than I ever remember. I want to thank Dr. Johnson for his patience in understanding my individual situation and providing the type of seasoned advice that you would expect from an experienced medical professional.

From the first call to his office to the completesion was fine. No problems whatsoever. I found him to be very personable and though. Then the doctor told her he would not do any more treatment to help her. She asked for her medical records to go to a different specialist and they told her "No" and then after much fuss told her she could have her records for $25. Now mind you my friend is in her mid-70s and on a fixed income and they know this. They were so rude and didn't care about my friend. They told her they had the best specialists and there was nothing else left for her to do except go blind. After some deep research and prayer we got my friend an appointment with the chief surgeon at the Shiley Eye Institute in San Diego, Dr. Weinreb. They didn't even need her records and did all of their own testing and did surgery the next week! She didn't go blind and her eyesight is improving weekly! A miracle! If you have a glaucoma and want to be treated with dignity do not go to Dr. Lymberg. I originally posted this review in March 2016 and my friend still has her eyesight!

This causes stress to the patient and whomever gives the patient rides to and from surgery. I NEVER have high blood pressure, but I had it before surgery because of the stress for days of logistics of unknown appointment time. They are apparently trying to squeeze appointments together as cancellations come in to save themselves staff wages? Because of this squeezing, one's appointment can then also easily be delayed by mishaps, including people's surgery being delayed because of their high blood pressure caused by the abusive failure to give patients a firm appointment time until less than a day before surgery. They just did my first cataract surgery right in one of the several assembly line bays for people prepping for surgery. I believe they were SUPPOSED (by law?) to do this surgery in the fully equipped surgery room where they did my second cataract surgery. I bet they did it in the bay rather than take the time to move me to the proper surgery room. They obviously don't care about treating patients and patients' family and friends well. Maybe they can be motivated in their own self interests, because they shoot themselves in their own foot when surgeries are delayed because of high blood pressure that they have stupidly caused erroneously thinking that whipsawing patients' appointment times will save the center time. There was also a gentleman freaking out in the waiting room. His family members told me he was having anxiety attack because of how they had whipsawed his appointment time. One of the staff told me high blood pressure delays happen a lot there--that is is normal anxiety about surgery--I beg to differ--much is surely caused by their abusive handling of patients.
