Absolutely the best experience. Greeted warmly, the testing done by the office manager was explained perfectly, she was pleasant and we joked around. The optometry side to the visit was fun. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. I ended up not purchasing the glasses there as I was running out of time. They all were helping me choose so thank you for your patience and effort!! Love Mona Gill, always so thorough and kind for eye exams. They offer a rebate for contacts too if you order a year supply. Everyone in office is so helpful and lovely, I wish I caught the assistant with the cool nails because she is delightful. Julie the receptionist is super on it keeping in contact with me regarding my insurance prior to visit so I knew what to expect. Big thank you Diego for fixing my wonky glasses that have been falling off my face for weeks now lol. The staff was nice. The problem was a prescription that was written incorrectly it was suppose to be for left eye not the right eye. I don't know who was at fault. The pharmacy read the rx that was written by the doctor. The staff denied it was there fault. Other than that they were nice enough to take me in right away. read more

Dr Gill rushed my exam, didn't talk about my test results, and didn't disclose to me there was an extra charge for retina imaging. Staff was polite, but seemed inadequately trained. On the other hand, Diego was professional and knowledgeable. I may look for a new optometrist. read more

When I made my appointment with Dr. Gill I expressly requested an exam for eye disease, not an exam for prescription lenses. Before my appointment, the front desk assured me that I would not have to pay for exams until my Medicare and supplemental insurance paid. After numerous testing, all showed no concerns with eye disease. I then met with Dr. Gill. She said she was going to do additional exams for re-fractions. I mentioned that I just came in for eye disease exams, but she ignored me and proceeded to do the exams. Before leaving I was asked to pay for the refraction part of the exam - $56, since Medicare did not cover that exam. I was surprised and unhappy with the answers I was given. I explained that before and during my exams I was explicit that I was there only for potential eye disease exams. Again I was told that infractions are part of the exam and the front desk insisted that I make a payment of $56 to cover the infraction exam, Since Medicare did not cover it! Advanced Eyecare is a disappointment and I will be not be returning. Instead, I will visit Dr. Johnson's office for future care. He is an opthomoligist who doesn't depend on infraction exams to sell eye glasses. read more

Coming into a bright, clean and customer friendly office with an open concept is just the beginning of a great experience. Staff take the time to chat and make each customer feel they're needs are being attended. Take time to look around if someone is in front of you. They have an excellent selection of glasses with competitive prices for the frames they are selling. Quality over quantity. They have a huge selection but it's not the warehouse you get lost in at other vision centers. Everyone is friendly and personable. They explain every step and take the time with you. You don't feel rushed out pressured. I highly recommend Advanced Eyecare and it pays to support local small business! Dr. Schachter is the best eye doctor I have ever had. His eye exams are incredibly through, the equipment is new and state of the art, and his staff is friendly and professional. I always felt like my eyes were in good hands. This is not your average eye place where they give you a quick eye exam and you are on your way - they examine you not just for contacts or glasses but actually to check the health of your eyes. They use the latest technology like retinal photography (a better option then dilation - in my opinion) and they also do this wavefront refraction that can see if your eye has any aberrations. Bottom line - You always get a comprehensive eye exam. I always went to Dr. Schachter when I lived in Pismo Beach. I am now in the San Diego area and still have not found an eye doctor of his caliber. I will actually be trying a new place in San Marcos next week and I hope it will be similar to my experience with Dr. Schachter. If you are in the Pismo Beach area and need an excellent eye doctor, I highly recommend him. read more

Beautiful office, super friendly staff (every single one of 'em), good selection of frames. This place is THOROUGH. Give yourself an hour and a half for an appointment if you're a new patient. They did tests I didn't know existed, for problems I didn't know existed. As a first time customer, I was introduced to a staff member that did several tests in several different rooms, in preparation for the exam with Dr. Schachter. Everything was well explained, and they did a good job of asking probing questions. I feel as though my eyes have never gotten so much eye-doctorly attention, ever. The exam with Dr. Schachter was actually pretty quick since most of the tests had been done just prior, but he went over the test results in detail and answered all the questions I had. Also very friendly. Some of the images were pretty cool to look at. They really do have the latest and greatest state of the art digital stuff. Overall, probably the best and most inclusive "eye exam" I've ever had! read more

Had an appointment scheduled for two weeks. The day before, they text to confirm with a completely different time. When called, they say the doctors schedule changed so the appointment has to change. I scheduled my vacation around this and now I have to try to find a new doctor and appointment and I needed an eye exam tomorrow. Now I'm going to be out of luck because they don't honor their appointments. Waste of time and terribly inconvenient. Update: I told your employee I could not make the other time and she only offered a different day and explicitly said the appointment I had scheduled was not going to be honored. She did not just offer a different time. She cancelled my scheduled appointment. After leaving this review someone did call and offer my original appointment back but there's no way I would feel comfortable with a doctors office that is treating patients this way. read more

I'm very disappointed in my recent experience here. I left work early to see the optimetrist for new lenses as they were scratched. When I arrived, Sarah met me out on the floor and inspected my glasses. She told me she would order me replacement lenses and that it would take 2 weeks to come in. I asked for a receipt or documentation confirming the order; however, she said I didn't need one. Fast forward 2 weeks, I called the office to check on my lenses and was told they had no record of me coming in. Now I have to wait another two weeks. Again, I'm really disapponted. I can't believe this is how they treat their customers. I've had better service at lense crafters. At least you get your glasses in an hour. I will definitely not be going back to this office. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Schachter for years and I appreciate that he uses cutting edge technology to get incredible photographs of the eye to monitor change over time, provides high tech glaucoma testing, and cares for my dry eyes! i am sorry to write this negative review, but i just picked up new glasses that function much worse than my previous ones. my wife & i have driven close to 200 miles on two trips to your office from solvang. i have gone thru a lengthy office visit & have spent $170.00 on glasses that do not work properly. i do not think the rx, especially on the right eye is correct. worst of all is that without the double bifocal, i am unable to see to even do something as simple as combing my hair. i am unable to see clearly looking up. in fact, i can't even see my forehead clearly in a mirror. your employee told me at the time of the fitting, that i really did not need the double bifocal. i mentioned my preference for glass lenses, but the cost of glass double bifocals is not cost effective any more. as a consequence, i decided to get the plastic ones. after much time with me, your employee said that he did not think i needed the double bifocals & with the single bifocal i could get the glass lenses. i foolishly opted for the glass lenses. perhaps if dr. schachter had done both the exam & fitting things would have turned out properly. as it is, the glasses are useless to me. robert deming read more
