It's pretty hard to describe what Adam truly is, he is not one of these typical run of the mill Acupucture places every time I leave there I feel completely transformed. Adam is my 5th acupuncturist, and the one I'll probably stay with as long as I live in the bay area. He really knows what he's doing. I originally saw Adam for burnout from overworking myself while running startups. He helped me get my energy back, and each treatment lowered my baseline stress level eventually back to a point where I could meditate again. The only reason I'm rating 4 stars is because Adam's previous location held many events and other types of practitioners. It was pretty special, and I miss it. He's in a cozy converted house, which is nice and quiet in comparison, and great for treatments. However, he now teaches QiGong in a nearby park, so no core element was really lost. Adam's combo of acupuncture, meridian massage, gemstone treatments, herbs, allergy testing, and knowledge of specific exercises to help with almost any physical or mental health condition makes him a great one-stop shop. I was looking for a new acupuncturist (my previous one was more of a "woman's" doctor), and was recommended Adam by someone I trust. I'm pretty much a western type of guy with fibromyalgia, diabetes and mood problems. I got there, and he had two students with him taking notes. He passed his hands over me looking for energy and I thought "Oh, he's one of THOSE type of doctors". Then I felt a sort of warm rolling pin over my body and I thought "Oh, he's a GOOD one of types of doctors". He's very personable with a good sense of humor. Great bedside manner and makes you feel at ease. He has an insatiable curiosity about all sorts of medicine, western and otherwise, and the curiosity extends to the patient. He's interested in you as well as your condition, and asked me all sorts of questions that no one else had. I've been telling people that Adam speaks several languages well. He speaks New Age, Taoist (spelling?), Chinese and Western. He is quite comfortable talking in whatever terms the patient seems confortable with. As I said, I'm pretty much a Western guy with a western medical doctor for a father and I'm an engineer. I also have a daughter learning chinese medicine in Boston. So he will talk to me about meridian lines and Qi, along with how the endocrine system works and getting moving so the lymph nodes get some exercise. When I talked about sleep problems, he talked to me about the latest research on "dark therapy" for sleep and mood (check it out on Google). He's fine with letting other doctors and chiropractors do their thing without hassle, though of course he wants to know what medications you are on so he doesn't interfere with their treatments. I've never felt rushed He has a degree in chinese medicine, generally has a number of students working with him, and teaches Qigong several times a week in his spacious studio across from Vasona Park. I've been seeing him once a week for several months. My wife and I just finished a weekend Qigong seminar and we'll both be going again. I have to say that Adam is one of the best health care professionals I've had the pleasure to work with. I recommend him highly. read more

This review is belated, as my family and I, have consulted Adam over the years. I've not left a review because I want to save him all for myself :-), but I realize that he'd like to run his business and I saw some negative reviews here, which made me want to defend my favorite acupuncturist/healer/therapist/herbologist in the Bay Area. The first time I consulted him was in 2013, and it was for my 7 year old son suffering from knee pains, that regular doctors kept talking about as "normal growing pains". It was frustrating to hear my kid in pain and feed him painkillers, so I wanted to try some alternative therapy. A friend gave a glowing review for Adam, so I thought I'll give him a try. So, I take my son in, and Adam puts him at ease immediately with his friendly talk. Considering he was going to stick a bunch of needles on a toddler, this is not an easy task, but he managed to do just that. I had TONS of questions which he answered patiently, and Adam even tried a foot bath for my son, made him do some yoga postures, prescribed medicines and gave a PAGE full of advice on how to handle these pains without resorting to Children's Mortrin. I was super suspicious about feeding my kid herbs that I did not know the ingredients of, and Adam silenced the skeptic in me by painstakingly explaining EACH ingredient on EACH unpronouncable medicine. I quickly realized this man is a treasure trove of knowledge. To my surprise, AFTER my sons' 1-1.5 hour appointment was over, I got a complimentary appointment!!?! Not really sure how that happened, but if you have the fortune of getting to know Adam and he doesn't have a line of people waiting(I was luckily the last appointment of the day), this may happen to you, as Adam is NOT a regular doctor AT ALL. He treats his patients with UTMOST kindness and will give you 10 hours if he could :-) I was so surprised that he started finding out about my aches and pains and diagnosing them, that I quickly came back a week or two later for my own appointment. I mean, who does that? A GP will not even let you ask another question for your family besides the patient he is treating in these days and times. The thing with Adam is, he REALLY CARES! WOW! I did not respond very well to acupuncture, I got woozy the first time, not sure why but Adam proceeded to do accupressure massages for me, and those were heavenly. Adam is NOT at all traditional in his approach, he is so knowledgeable about healing therapies that he will do what it takes to make you fit as a fiddle! He is most non-judgemental and you can talk to him about anything. Sometimes he surprises me by touching a nerve center and telling me what is troubling me in my life! He is so insightful, that it's spooky! Flash forward to 2018, and MANY of my friends and family have enjoyed visiting Adam's clinic. They all think he's a rockstar so I am not the only one! Rude and abusive. I am a patient of a therapist in the same building and today I saw a car parked in the middle of the parking lot of the building behind my car making it difficult for me to pull out. There were two men chatting in the parking lot whose cars were parked illegally. One of them was Adam's car. I asked whose car it was and he replied that it was his. I asked how can I pull out if the car is blocking my way? He screamed at me in response "YOU CAN PULL OUT USING YOUR DRIVING SKILLS!". Another man helped me pull out by pulling out his car which was in my way too. I considered this practice for acupuncture but there is no way I am going to this monster who is not only rude but also inconsiderate to others. read more

Messy and unprofessional. The exam room is a mess. There are dishes everywhere and board games in the open closet. The room to conduct acupuncture doesn't have a location to store clothes so you have to place your items on the ground. In the treatment Adam disappears first to get water. He returns then a few minutes later a male individual appears in my treatment room. Adam asks me if said male can join him in my treatment as he is training. This is happening while I'm laying on the treatment table with treatment underway. It was very bizarre. Once all the acupunture needles are placed he closes the door, says he will be right outside and to call for him if I need anything but that in 20 minutes he will come remove the needles. I had yelled "hello" for over 5 mins as I had been left in there for ~35-40 mins and needed to leave!! It's important to note when placing some of the needles Adam intentionally moved them around or pushed them deeper to cause a trigger of pain. My left calf is still in pain from the placement of one of his needles. I was not comfortable with this at all. I'm very disappointed and would not recommend this practice. read more

However, beyond just helping alleviate the symptoms, Adam helps me move through these physical issues and experience a deeper level of emotional or spiritual growth. Unprofessional, arrogant, abusive. First, everyone at the place ignored me. Then, after I had waited 10 minutes and my appointment was supposed to start, someone gave me a long questionnaire with questions that better therapists would ask in person, including questions about about your childhood. At one point, I told the student who filled in as receptionist (she said they don't have a real receptionist) "I think I'm going to leave" and after not hearing back for another few minutes, went to the door to leave. By that point, I had been there for 30 minutes, and my appointment was supposed to start 18 minutes ago. I had carved out 90 minutes of my day, and they were ticking away without my waiting even being acknowledged. As I turned to leave, Adam Atman finally noticed my presence and came after me. He grabbed my wrist and twisted it to look at my watch. Let me repeat that: He grabbed and twisted my wrist. Zero respect for a client. At this point you should know that I was a new client, this would have been my initial appointment, no established client relationship or anything like that, we hadn't really talked before besides the appointment. And in his first interaction with me, he grabs and twists my wrist like he's dealing with a naughty child. He explained to me in a condescending tone that it's absolutely normal to wait 15-20 minutes for appointments and that he feels like he doesn't owe me an apology. I know it's surprising, but he used those exact words - that he doesn't owe me an apology. If he had said "Sorry you had to wait" at any point, or "thanks for waiting", or anything that showed some decency, I would have stayed. But this behavior, together with the grabbing, was just abusive. He then threatened that he's still going to charge me $150 for my initial consultation - for sitting on a chair for 30 minutes with nobody talking to me, and then getting abused. There was another client and a student who filled in as receptionist. They were both visibly distressed by his behavior and apologetic about it. All in all, it was a terrible experience. I had paid $60 just for the Lyft rides 30 min each way to get to his place. It's not normal to be treated like that by health and wellness professionals, so, stay away. If you make the time and shell out your hard-earned money, you deserve to be treated in a respectful manner. read more

I have been under Adam's care on and off for over 15 years and have followed him from clinic to clinic. This new center, Los Gatos Acupuncture and QiGong Clinic, is also aptly nicknamed "Adam's Place" and truly mirrors Adam's innate spiritual sensibilities and highly trained methods and modes of healing. You get a nice surprise when you enter the center as each treatment room is a unique environment capturing a single element through Feng Shui directed lighting, color and scent. Adam's acupuncture and herbal treatments help me when my life is not making sense and my body is trying to tell me something is wrong. I always get more out of my acupuncture sessions than expected. More what you might ask? More awareness, more pause for reflection, more healing; and I leave with a greater sense of peace and balance. He always starts the session with "How's your body?" I love that question. Half the time I don't know. But I want to find out. You see, Adam has an uncanny ability to unlock the connection between how my life is going and how my body is feeling by checking pulses, tuning into my body and asking a few questions. He then methodically applies acupuncture treatment, writes down the treatment and leaves me to 'rest'. Depending on my condition, he may recommend QiGong movements and or Chinese herbs to supplement acupuncture.
