Just that Research shows that there is a link to stress as well as a hereditary About three months ago, I started seeing Michael Eugene Brownand Shanti Ma at Abundant Heaven Integrative Acupuncture, I received an acupuncture treatment and Craniosacral therapy treatment from Shanti Ma. Through talking with her and the treatment I feel like I gained a better understanding of how I hold stress in my body. While receiving the treatment I had a memory of my father from childhood and a way that he held his body when he was concentrating that my sister and I used to laugh about. I realized, in that moment that I had the exact same stress holding patterns as my father. I think that after this treatment I have had better access to noticing when these neuro pathways are activated and being able to "hit the reset button " which usually involves slowing down and taking some deep breaths. Shanti has an online class called vagas nerve deep dive that I have started that is amazing so far. This class includes exercises that give you access to the parasympathetic nervous system. Michael prescribed some Chinese herbs. after a month of taking them my bloodwork is finally revealing signs of remission allowing me to wean off of other medication. Had acupuncture and cupping for the first time this evening for chronic migraines. The office lobby…read morewas warm and inviting when I walked in. There was no one at the desk at first, but one of the acupuncturists soon came out and checked me in. She showed me where the restrooms were, asked me to take a seat and said my acupuncturist would soon be with me. My acupuncturist asked me some health questions in the private room where I was to have my treatment. She listened and didn't dismiss anything I said like my regular doctor often does. Then she explained where she would be inserting the needles and why. She also went into detail about what I could expect during the session, which I appreciated. Most of the needle insertions were painless, but a few hurt a bit. The pain went away quickly. The acupuncturist turned out the lights and left the room as I laid on my back on the table with the needles in me. I couldn't feel them as long as I didn't move. I'm not sure how long I laid there, but it was very warm and relaxing with gentle music playing. I almost fell asleep. I had a button I could press if I needed help and the acupuncturist checked on me a couple times. She removed the needles and then had me rollover on to my stomach for cupping on my upper back to help with pain relief in my neck and shoulders. After the session my migraine was gone and my neck and shoulder pain had decreased. I made several more appointments and look forward to them.
