For months I contacted people about getting new flooring, even had guys come by and take…read moremeasurements but for whatever reason they were un-responsible with an estimate much less doing the work. And after bad experiences with the "big box" stores on major appliance and home related purchases, I wasn't giving them any more money. Of all things, my plumbing contractor recommending Dominion Floor Covering after I even complained to them about bad service, and I have to say I what a great recommendation. After my initial inquiry, Nick came by the next day, took the measurements and with 24 hours I had an estimate. After I finalized my material color selection I had the work scheduled. The day of the work the crew arrived one half hour EARLY (when does ANY contractor show up early?). The three man crew led by Steve with Ronnie and Keith worked with great diligence, and were done by 4pm. The overall finish of my new flooring is excellent, the amount of custom cutting for molding and transitions due to the layout of my home was first class, the place was cleaned up with no debris, the whole thing was just great. In all my years as a home owner, I've never seen anything like. I have additional flooring work to complete, and no doubt I'm having Dominion come back to do it. Highly recommend.

Measurements were way off. Two extra boxes of flooring and ~40 feet of 1/4 round. When asked about what to do with the 2 boxes of flooring (that we paid for), was told "you can sell it on eBay". Really? Then there was the installation crew. No one spoke English so any questions I had resulted in blank stares. These were not W-2 employees but sub-contractors. This crew stained the 1/4 round us and it wasn't even close to matching the new flooring. And then there was the damage to the new flooring during installation. The large staple gun that was used to "nail" the flooring was placed dozens of times on the previously installed flooring leaving nail head size indentations across the entire floor. And then there was the "customer service". Made appointment with Ackerman (the owner?) to inspect the damage and he never showed up, he didn't call, text, or email that he was going to make it. During one of numerous calls, asked Jessica to have Ackerman call us. She emailed me that she couldn't get him to talk to us. But to be honest, full discloser: 2nd Street is giving us $40 for the 1/4 round. Bottom-line: we will never use 2nd Street again and will never recommend them to anyone.

We were told that we would be provided with a choice of stains but we had to remind the contractor weeks after our meeting that he hadn't provided any information on the subject. We were informed that the areas would need to be pressure washed before being stained and that the cost would be between $400 and $500. When we received the proposal it mentioned that the cleaning would be provided by a company that MP painting approved. It took several weeks and many contacts to get a date for the job to be done. The pressure washing was done really well. No complaints there. The evening after we informed MP that the cleaning was completed we received a text informing us that the staining would start at 8am the next day. So less than 12 hours notice and therefore all plans for the next day had to be canceled. One worker arrived and began staining with a can of stain we provided. Shortly after 9 the owner arrived with 2 cans of an incorrect color and tried to convince my husband that the color was correct. After going back to the store to get the proper color and without anyone approving they started the deck staining by hacking away the landscaping behind the deck. We were never informed of the need to remove any of the greenery around the deck. The crew didn't realize that I was watching them on a security camera. After I discovered that they were cutting away an heirloom grapevine I rushed to a window and tried to stop them. I kept yelling no at them through the window. The crewman barked do you want the staining done? I told them to stop cutting and he barked out "it will grow back". (I have to admit that after that disrespectful response I lost it and cursed them out). Their response wasn't what a client should hear after a major portion of my grape harvest had been destroyed. At 11am we received an invoice from the pressure washer company and were informed that it wasn't going to paid for through the proposal total. The owner after weeks of being contacted by both of us by text began invoicing the cell number he mistakenly thought was my husbands number moments after the job was "finished". It was actually my phone. After being hounded by text for 3.5 hours I replied that we would inspect the job and get back to him. At that point he began texting the person that he thought was my husband about how all his trouble getting his money was "your wife's" fault. I texted back and informed him of his mistake and that he would be paid after we were able to get onto the deck to check the work. MP freaked out. He must have really needed the cash. The next morning I awoke to a threat of a mechanics lean. I've paid both bills one, the pressure washer, because their work was great and one because we were threatened. I have dozens of pictures of areas that were never stained. It will take hours for us as a couple of senior citizens to complete the process that MP was hired for. Most of the areas are under the deck railings. Maybe MP should buy a mirror to see where they should stain and don't. Maybe they didn't do the job correctly out of just laziness but they definitely showed a lack of respect for our property and wishes right from the start.

The low pressure wash did a phenomenal job. When the team came to do the outdoor painting I was amazed at the attention to detail. They re-sealed my wood stairs and all the posts and verticals. They cannot keep reliable subcontractors or designers because they treat anyone who is not related to them as the enemy vs dealing the companies issues. Throughout the six week process of picking out materials, ordering them, and install, Gerald (manager) and Jimmy (owner) were fantastic! In fact, they were so hands on, that the owner even did the majority of install himself. But what really stuck out to us, was when they ran into more damage to the subfloor than anticipated, they did not take that as an opportunity to charge us more, and instead stuck to the original estimate, despite the extra labor. They also were flexible and happily agreed to a few minor cosmetic changes that I suggested during install. The project was done perfectly, and exactly on time. We will definitely use them again for our next project!

My mother is a widow over 70 and she contracted with Bancroft Granite & Marble to do a $15,000…read morerenovation in my home. She was notified that the work was complete but when she arrived to look at it, there was building scraps and trash everywhere incluiding pieces of cut trim, stove wrapping, tools, etc. There was dirt everywhere and none of the new counters had even been wiped. They had failed to obtain the proper electrical permits to do the work. I paid $1600.00 for a custom built storage island which appeared to be pre-manufactured made from particle board --certainly not a custom built piece. They failed to install quarter round on the newly tiled floor leaving a visbable gap between the tiles and the baseboards. They installed a shelving unit but the wood did not quite fit to cover the area. When she asked habout this, she was told that they used scrap wood and that was all he had. When she notified Jim of her concerns, he cursed her and my brother out and said he was finished. She contracted with Jim in Match of 2017. He was contacted and requested to complete and finalize the job. She has not heard anything from him since May 2017. The work remains incomplete as of July 2017. I absolutely do NOT recommend using this company for any renovation or work. My mother was looking forward to moving back into her home after being away for several years. She is still unable to use the kitchen and move into her house. This company does not stand by their work; does not do a quality job; is not concerned with customer service or satisfaction.

Kelly's was not the cheapest quote, but it was far from the most expensive. It took them a little while to get to my job, but it was worth the short wait -- if they did poor work they wouldn't have a long line of customers! The sales crew, installation crew, and lady on the phone were all very patient and pleasant. I was quite impressed with how much respect the installation crew showed my home and the people in it. There was almost no mess to clean up inside. The final product looks fantastic. I love the windows, I love the the way the installation of the windows appear, and I'm satisfied that I've received a quality job. I've had a few friends in need of windows ask about my experiences with Kelly's and I've encouraged them to strongly consider using Kelly's.
