Planned on doing a prime rib for a special family occasion. This popped up on Yelp with solid reviews and I can see why. I initially called if I needed to reserve for a prime rib. They said no need as they always have it. Upon entering, there is so much. You can select from what they have cut up, or choose from the refrigerated section. They had A5 Wagyu and even alligator. I didn't get to see what else, but there is tons to choose from here. I asked for a prime rib cut. They asked for how many people. They recommended 2 bones and me being me, I said let's do 3. They offered to cut the bones off and re-tie it all together. They showed me the cut before they wrapped it up, weighed and paid. The meat quality was amazing. I'll definitely come back here when we fire up the grill this summer or to get a standing rib roast for the holidays and special occasions. This is the closest butcher to our house so we decided to stop in. It's a small little shop. It was clean and organized and the service was good. We wanted to get some beef ribs. We paid about 100 dollars a for half a rack. We also got some burgers and bratwurst and hot links. This place is ok I wouldn't just regularly stop in. read more

We wanted to grab a package of hot dogs for a BBQ and decided to try Adam's meats. We have purchased other items from Adam's Meats. chicken, Italian sausage and steak all were good. Unfortunately the hot dogs were a big miss. The texture of the meat was mealy and mushy. While the flavor was decent and they were not overly salty but the texture was off putting. I was short on time today so I decided to try out Adam's. I got a tri tip with the house marinade, it looked good in the package. We grilled it up and upon eating it discovered it was SUPER salty and had no it other flavor. It was one of the worst flavored tri tips I have ever had. I'll continue to just take the extra time to drive up the hill to kings. They have a better selection, better flavors and the staff is way more friendly and helpful. read more

A colleague of mine recommended here as I was needing a prime rib roast. When I got there I could not believe the available meats. Of course I got my prime rib, but there was jerk chicken, seasoned baby back ribs, fantastic cuts of beef, traditional brats, burnt end brats, tons of varieties of sausages, seafood, etc. The staff was right there the whole time as we shopped, making sure we were taken care of. In the end we walked out with 2-3 times more than we expected, but are so glad we did. Will be going back every time I need a quality cut of meat. read more

I have tried to give this place a chance time and time again... today was the last straw. A couple years ago they messed up and didn't have my order for our turkey... fine things happen.. this 2025 thanksgiving we ordered a smoked turkey.. followed the directions to a T and it was still not cooked.. we ended up having to cook the turkey for 5 hours and not have turkey for our dinner. Then came yesterday's crap show.... I received a text that my order was ready to be picked up... so naturally I went to pick it up around 11:15... they couldn't find my order AGAIN. I asked why they couldn't find my order and they couldn't answer me. So I asked to speak to Adam (the owner). He was so incredibly dismissive and basically told me he was right and I was wrong for how I cooked the turkey and how it wasn't a problem that they didn't have my order ready. Zero customer service. Today I called them to ask how to cook the meat (because my order wasn't ready the instructions aren't printed on the packaging) and the man told me to google it... it's a joke of a business who doesn't not want to help their customers.. unbelievable. I like this shop quite a bit. They have a ton of really good stuff to choose from. Everything from a dozen different types of sausage to frozen dog food! The shop is clean as a whistle and I generally feel like that's a must when it comes to a butcher. Gotta be clean and keep everything fresh. The shop is set up with massive freezers and refrigerators against the walls, with frozen options to grab for later. The veal caught my attention and I will try some soon. In the middle, they have a good old fashioned fresh meat setup. Everything from a porterhouse steak, to marinated jerk chicken legs! I went with some skirt steak today cause it looked super fresh and was just calling my name. Literally about to grill it up right now!! The dog food options are a huge plus! Clearly, if you listen to satellite radio or watch tv, or scroll socials, fresh raw dog food is the biggest trend at the moment. Rightfully so, if you want your dogs to be healthy. I had been going there faithfully since they opened; but, the quality has gone down and they have more frozen meat. If I'm going to a butcher shop, I expect the meat to be fresh. I seldom see Adam anymore and I don't know whether it is for lack of management or just high turnover; but, the quality has deteriorated while the price has gone up. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the bread was the best ever! I bought a corn beef brisket and it was 2/3 fat. I barely had enough met left to make corn beef hash. It was almost 3 lbs and I came out with ounces! Very disappointed. it was very expensive, and the quality is sub par compared to subscription boxes that offer 100% grass fed beef. Charging 10 cents for a bag. Really. I come here a lot, but not anymore. This place used to be decent. Most of their stuff is frozen now such as skirt steak and chuck roast. Not having a lot of cuts out front fresh like you used to. Your system for points goes down and no way to get credit for next time. Needless to say this is place has become a disappointment. Going to TJ's to grab some things to bring back home for friends and fam and happened across Adam's. As hunters and people who make our own sausage, always like to try what is out there. So many varieties - different animals and flavors. Bought a bunch of sausages and a smoked pork chop for Dad. Yum. Had to get some jerky for the 10 minute drive back to our friend's house. Bacon jerky was weird. Too wet and sweet for my preference. Jalapeno Cheddar sticks were delish. I wish I grabbed more. Had a snap like Arabiki sausage and a nice flavor. read more

It's not really a traditional butcher shop. Half the items are shrink wrapped. They can't order any "special" cuts, like pork jowels. The staff that helped me was as taciturn as they come, and seemed annoyed that I was there, despite buying sausages that I wasn't impressed with. As an Iowa ex-pat, I looked for good meat for a while. This is by far the best quality I have found here and only mildly more than big chain stores. The steaks are tender and flavorful. I can grill the chicken without the constant flareups like the with Safeway birds as they are lean but still tender. The marinated tri-tip even impressed my foodie friend that has eaten in many a Michelin Star restaurant. Adam's Meet is great for special occasions but practical enough for every day. read more

Recently visited for first time this business. Parking lot due to whole foods next door and Home Depot is extremely packed. Expect to walk a bit at busy times. There are two disabled parking spots directly in front of the market in case you need them. I was there to buy 1 Tri Tip. They had five on display. 1.5-1.8 lbs each. I have bought from Safeway, Smart and Final, and Wal Mart. Adam's cut on the Tri Tip is less by weight. More expensive per pound. There is no fat cap on these so by weight it's all edible meat. It is Prime, not select or choice. I smoked @235 degrees, 90 minutes, w/130 internal temp when removed. I then cranked up heat to 500. The meat was "resting" before searing for about 5 minutes. Seared each side for 4 minutes each based on visually checking this after 3 minutes. I do not like my meat rare inside more medium rare to done. Not well done. If I liked my meat rare for this cook I could have removed meat before 90 minutes. I checked inside meat temp @ 80 minutes at 235 temp consistent and inside temp was already 118-123. Please note I did not open lid during the cook. I did not mop it, nor other than put a basic dry ingredient rub coating all surfaces, which would be personal preference. Therefore the 235 temp remained consistent. In summary the outcome of cook was the best yet vs other super market meats of more of select/choice quality. The cut of meat made a difference, I believe. It held more juice and had a nice smoke ring moreso then any other meat I smoked. I have only smoked five Tri Tips so far on my Rec Tec but have a competition cook friend that gives me advice and also you tube videos for confirmation. These are pretty easy, no injection, no fancy anything and fairly quick on time. However, I may go buy another Safeway or other cut of meat and apply my same cook times, etc. to see results. I have SUCH fond memories going w my father on weekends to the local downtown butcher for the BEST beef Balogna, or the reddest (freshest) cuts of beef, or the pinkest cuts of pork! So it was Such a Great day finding Adams Meat Shop while meandering around Folsom! You walk in and are immediately greeted by the great guys working behind the counter. Very welcoming (just like I remember from the neighborhood butcher!) The meat cases to your right, and a vast selection of spices and seasonings and frozen selections to your left, everything is SPOTLESS!! I cannot believe how FRESH everything looks!! They even had a TOMAHAWK STEAK on display; I'm TELLIN you it took Everything in me NOT to get THAT little piece of heaven but this day we are on a MISSION. We are looking for a pot roast for a family dinner and then Strip Steaks for that night. Adams does Not disappoint. We purchased four beautiful NY strips, and a chuck Roast. The young guy who helped us was really cool and very helpful. Just got off the phone with a dude that sounded like he was in high school. I was calling to see if they had the southern sausage Boudin. I can't find it anywhere. Despite Adams not having this rare regional cuisine, the younger dude on the phone took his time to describe different products in their store to enjoy. OMG - we got a seasoned prime rib roast for our Christmas Eve dinner from Adams Meat Shop. It was cradle cut and already seasoned. We grilled the roast using our gas grill. It turned out perfect - very tender and perfectly seasoned. The staff that helped us with our order and later with the pick up were very helpful and provided us with guidance as to the size to order as well as answering all of our questions.
