The gentleman behind the counter immediately offered to cut some fresh for me. That's the kind of customer service you don't see everywhere anymore. I've been to this market several times over the years and it's a go to for special occasions and every day deals! Their sausages are delicious, the cuts of meat are great and you can find specialty items such as duck, turkey breast and A5 waygu. I checked prices against Nugget Market and Pops beat them on some bone in pork chops cut thick. We asked at the counter just walking in and they cut the meat fresh for beautiful chops. My Microsoft Copilot told me this was the best place to find fresh meat in Elk Grove so I tried them. I got the Chicken Basil Garlic sausage, and it was the best I've ever had. They were not only delicious they were large enough to split making them a cheap entree. Been coming here ever since they opened. They had some struggles at the beginning, which is not uncommon for any new business, specially for a speciality business like a butcher shop, and covid didn't help the situation. But year after year they have become better than better, both in their products and service. Vast majority of the time, it is a quick in and out. Know what you want and how much. It is a killer when people come in and have no clue what they're looking for, so they hold up everyone else. It is a not a very large room, but it full of delicious cuts of meats, yummy sausages and a ton of spices. We have not been disappointed and I don't believe we will ever be. read more

Great service, I had a lot of questions and they really helped me get what I needed for a dinner for 7 people. Since it was my first time to the shop, I wanted to try a variety of the meats. I ended up getting the Mesquite marinated tri-tip, which was awesome. The bacon burgers, which were also very tasty, and two different sausages I don't remember the name. They were both good! He remembered me and suggested the ribeye without the bone. He said that we would like better than the bone in. So I told him to wrap them up. I BBQ them after putting on a little seasoning. My husband and I stopped in this afternoon to grab a tri tip for our family's Easter gathering. We were greeted by Dan who gave us a quick run down of their offerings. Ya'll they have prime AND dry-aged cuts!!!! Usually, Prime and dry-aged steaks are reserved for restaurants and are super hard to find. Most people only have choice dry-aged cuts. You usually have to request and pre-order prime dry-aged types of meat. Not here!!! This weekend, we had prime, dry aged T-Bone and bone-in rib-eye! It was so so so good. The husband sous vide the steaks and seared them to perfection on the stove. We'll be back next week for the Prime plated short ribs ad the A5 Wagyu rib eye!! This place also has pre-marinated meats, sausages, and burger patties. They also have seasonings, bbq sauce, and marinade. I noticed the small freezer also had frozen lumpias.. you know, if you need appetizers or something. Excited for the butcher shop and all the goodies!! read more

I been hearing about Pops for some months now, as a matter of fact I been trying to come into this shop since the beginning of the year! I finally made my grand entrance yesterday and boy it was everything I had hoped it would be! The store isn't super big but it's the perfect size and is SOOOOOOOO CLEAN! Customer service was wonderful!! We were greeted right away and we went straight the fridge where the marinated meats were it. They quite a selection of pre-marinated meat consisting of drums, thighs, half chicken, ribs in bags. And then behind the glass case they had marinated steak, ribs, lamb chops etc. Also they sliced bacon and fajita mix! We grabbed the a bag of pre-marinated drums n thighs. Once again Pop's came through. I only stopped by for sausage.... Again. But seeing those burgers we couldn't resist. Now I am eating for two tonight because their meat is too good. I don't think I have ever came in and not had a positive response. Whether we have picked up seasoned chicken or sausage or steaks (so good in a sous vide) or pork belly or fajitas. The list goes on. Visited this place before the registered their business on Yelp so I posted my review on FB l They have really good meat selections, the prices are awesome and the guys (brothers) are extremely nice. We bought one of each of the handmade sausages and they were hella good. The chicken basil & garlic and the pineapple habanero were my favorites. We also bought a pork chop there and it was so fat that we asked him to cut it in half and the two pieces were still fat. We don't live in Elk Grove but definitely will be buying our meat from them whenever we visit. read more

Awesome place to find Quality Meat and Sausage's for starters. This place has it all. Marinated/Non Marinated meats, a variety of Homemade sausages, and chicken including party wings and a lot more. Oh, did I Mention they also sell Dry age beef here. I also totally recommend this place if your looking for hard to find Rubs, Marinades, and sauces. The people who work here really enjoy their job and also the interaction with their customers. Also I noticed on weekends they smoke different meats that I assume are for sale. Wanted to stock up on some sausages and found this place close by. I wasn't really wow'd by the different types of sausages that I tried. The andouille sausage tasted like a generic, no-frills sausage (where were all of the good bold spices?). The beef hot link sausage was spicy alright, but it was a one-note kind of spicy; they pretty much went ham on the red pepper flakes as evident by whole flakes spilling out after each sausage slice. The bratwurst sausage did have the flavor profile that I wanted, but the meat was dry. In fact, all of the sausages that I tried were notably on the dry side. I also tried the ground chorizo in addition to the sausages. The chorizo was pretty tasty yet dry (surprise, surprise). As a silver lining though, its dryness makes it become the perfect addition to an egg scramble (don't need much grease for a scramble anyways). Add some eggs, spinach, and shredded cheese to the pan with it and you have a quick-and-easy-to-make scramble that tastes and looks like something sold for at least $10 at a bougie brunch spot. If I return to this place I'd definitely get more of the chorizo. There aren't many places in the area that sells fresh sausage so if you still want to try the sausages here (they're still much better than the pre-packaged ones you'd find at grocery stores) then go for it. As for me, it's not a place I plan to scurry to anytime soon. read more

My sister told me about this meat shop and it was super close to my house and since I was on my way home, i decided to check this place out. I ordered their mango habanero sausage and their aloha pineapple habanero sausages. I also grabbed a pack of their pre-marinated lemon herb and Cajun chicken thighs. We decided to grill the meats and sausages since it was such a nice day out. Overall, chicken was pretty good, I liked the Cajun seasoning more than the lemon herb. The sausages were both good, but I preferred the aloha sausages more. Sweet, juicy and had a nice kick to it. I will definitely be back to pick up some more aloha sausages. read more

I had the opportunity to message someone on Facebook from this meat shop to answer a few questions that I had. A couple of friends and I we're heading to Tahoe for a weekend and wanted to make a special dinner. It was our plan to cook a delicious large prime rib and wanted something that had a delicious rub already on it since we were staying in a cabin. I Immediately got a response from Dan Who told me I should come in and take a look at the options that they have to offer. I told him I Was wondering how I should season it. And he recommended using a rub that they used over the holidays and said that he would place it on the prime rib for me and have it ready so that all we have to do is cook it. I am not joking when I say that this was the most flavorful, the most delicious, and juiciest prime rib I've ever had in my life. I also decided to buy a pound of bacon and some chorizo to have for breakfast the following day with some eggs and tortillas. read more

I'm so stoked to have such a great butcher shop in Elk Grove! Stumbled upon this place leaving another business in the strip mall and I'm so glad I did! This shop has everything for the carnivore in you plus so many rubs, spices and sauces and even a frozen section. We decided to splurge and bought some New York steaks because I mean if you're going to buy some steak, why not do it right?!?! We also bought some chili lime marinated chicken wings and lemon pepper chicken wings. Also was super curious about the mango habanero sausage so bought that as well. It was so hard to just stop there but I will definitely have to come back. The steaks were freaking the best and so were the chicken wings. The employees are also so helpful and friendly.
