I was in the mood for some Ethiopian cuisine and came across this location!…read more I was greeted and able to choose a table of my picking. I dined in during the afternoon (lunch time). The restaurant seemed very empty, as I was the only one dining in. I did see a'lot of people ordering takeout, so my guess is that business ramps up in the evening. The ambiance was relaxed with dim lighting. Now, onto the cuisine! I ordered a Kala and a Beef Sambusa as appetizers. The kala was very delicious! A jalapeño pepper stuffed with minced jalapeño, tomatoes, and peppers! It was the perfect mixture of both spicy and savory. The beef sambusa was oh so smooth! The beef was nice and seasoned, and the shell was nice and crispy too! For my main meal, the lamb for the awaze tibs was seasoned extremely well and tender!!! The spicy red lentils were oh so dreamy, and the collard greens hit my spirit with a powerful medley of flavor!

I had been remiss and hadn't been to Tabor in all these years of living in Baltimore. I'm glad I…read morefinally rectified that oversight. First of all, the service is incredible. On the phone or in person, the staff here is delightfully pleasant. The restaurant is clean and I was transfered by the Ethiopan music videos that they play in the background. The star of the show is the food. I'm not an Ethiopian food connoisseur (in fact, my prior experiences had been lackluster) but Tabor was a revelation. The beef was tender and flavorful and the spicy chicken had just enough kick to pick you up but no so much as to be overwhelming. The lentils were outstanding and, to my surprise, the pickled beets were sooo addictive. I will definitely be back.

This is an "international," restaurant in the old Arco's spot that's mostly Eritrean food, which is…read morebasically the same food as Ethiopian. The Arco's sign is still up, and when you enter, it looks exactly the same as the old Arco's and there's a very local white guy, Bob, the bartender, who greets you. (Bob, and the rest of the crew are fantastic, btw.) I was initially confused if I was in the right place. And, since it's exactly like Arco's, there's a back patio as well as ample indoor seating. The menu is also a bit disorienting since it covers everything from bagels to linguini to kitfo and tibs. We stuck to the Eritrean side of the menu, and were delighted with our food. For three people, we had the veggie platter, which had beets, so good they tasted like candy; the excellent lamb tibs, and the kitfo that Daniel, the Mexican manager/cook steered us away from ordering raw as we had done in Ethiopian restaurants. At around 7:30 on a Friday evening, we were the only ones eating, although there was a group of Eritrean young men on the patio and a few women at the bar. We talked with Solomon, the owner, about his country. We talked with Daniel about Mexico City. We talked with Bob about East Baltimore. Patsy Cline was playing on the jukebox in the bar. It was all a wonderful, very urban mishmash. Highly recommended for both the food and the atmosphere!

I've only had the Ethiopian/Eritrean food here, but it's been great. Super reasonably priced,…read moreexcellent portion size, and delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I've ordered the vegetarian platter a number of times (all sizes), and it's pretty standard Ethiopian fare, lentils, chickpeas, yellow peas etc., but they make it well and plentiful. My boyfriend has tried the lamb tibs (the awaze and the regular I think) and he loved the regular tibs. They have ample seating and a nice patio in the back, but I haven't seen that many people in there yet. I would definitely recommend Dahlak and I hope more people enjoy it so I can continue to have this food in my neighborhood!

Silver Spring has no shortage of great Ethiopian restaurants, but I had Enatye in Herndon…read morebookmarked for a while after hearing so many good things. When we finally found ourselves in the area, I was excited to see if it lived up to the hype. We ordered the veggie combo, and it was flavorful and satisfying. What really made this place stand out, though, was the customer service. We ordered takeout, and after getting home about 40 minutes later, we realized part of our order was wrong. I called expecting the usual response--either that I should've checked the bag before leaving or that I'd need to drive back for a replacement. Instead, I got a genuine apology and an offer for a full refund. Since we still had food to eat, I didn't feel right accepting it. They insisted on making it up to us the next time we were in the area. True to their word, on our next visit they treated us to the same veggie combo on the house. You don't see that level of follow-through very often, and it really left an impression. That's how you earn loyal customers. Big shoutout to Emmanuel for taking such great care of us. We're looking forward to coming back.
