I've reach out to Addison Homes, 3 times via online contact, and 4 times via phone message. I looked up their location to physically stop in and did not find clarity via google maps. There has never been a return email or phone call. I was specifically interested in the raised slab foundation that Todd Usher posted a video about, and haven't been able to find other contractors that offer the same energy efficient foundations. read more

Extremely professional, personable, reliable and extremely patient are just a few among many favorable qualities exhibited by Addison Homes. Not only does Todd personally care about the product from start to finish but beyond as well. Well beyond the required warranties. Addison Homes builds zero energy homes which requires a whole new building process that once again he has mastered and it shows in all that he does. Our experience with Addison Homes (addison-homes.com) and Todd Usher has been overwhelmingly negative. We signed a pre-construction agreement with Todd Usher in July of 2021 to build on our lot in Pendleton, SC. Through multiple initial consultations and on his website, Todd Usher promised that he follows a "fine-tuned and streamlined" process. This turned out to be completely false. Despite early assurances, such as that Addison Homes budgets 90 days to get to a construction agreement, it took Todd Usher over nine and a half months to even produce a contract, with an increase of over a hundred thousand dollars compared to his original bid. This contract was produced for us to sign and hand over even more money even though the construction plans had yet to be finalized. The problems and delay were entirely on the Addison Homes side. This was not some sort of unusual build, nor were we introducing changes. While it's possible Todd Usher knows the technical details of building houses, he seems incapable of managing the pre-construction process or retaining employees. Communication throughout was virtually nonexistent unless we initiated contact, and glacially slow. The only thing that has gone "right" with this project was willingness to put some effort in and explore alternatives to bring costs down... after everything else had gone wrong for over nine and a half months and we were literally in tears in the Addison Homes office telling them how unhappy we were with their inability to fulfill their end of the contract. But more than two months later, a full year after our initial signing, Todd Usher was again asking us to sign a contract, still without obtaining final construction plans. We no longer believe Todd Usher is capable of completing our project, let alone turning us into satisfied customers. Despite the lack of tangible results beyond a survey, Addison Homes claims to have already spent all of our pre-construction fee/deposit. We requested multiple times for them to provide documentation of the expenses incurred, but Todd Usher refused. Per their business practices, there is no way for us to hold them accountable for their end of the contract as customers -- our choices are to continue to build with them or walk away with nothing. We could throw good money after bad to hire a lawyer to try to force Addison Homes to provide documentation, but walking away with nothing is preferable at this point. It has been that bad. Any promotion of Addison Homes is likely not based on customer satisfaction, or is based on cherry picking and hiding the customers they have disappointed. We are out a year of our lives, out tens of thousands of dollars, and have had our dreams of building a home dashed. We do not think we are alone, but if Addison home is treating only us this way it does not reflect any better on them. We would strongly recommend any customer should avoid working with Todd Usher and Addison Homes, and we worry for any subcontractor they deal with. From what they have shown us, they literally do not know how to run their business. read more

We had a home built by Addison Homes and moved in June 2020. The quality of the house is pitiful! There are too many issues to be listed here, so we are only sharing a sample: We had problems during construction and even more after we moved in. For example, the closet walls are not square (which became a tremendous problem as we attempted to install a closet system), and some kitchen floor tiles cracked without impact. We also had seven water leaks from five different sources (which finally resulted in Addison removing all the vinyl siding from two sides of our home to correct poorly installed water barrier tape to address two sources), etc. The same vinyl siding was reinstalled, and it looks heinous. We also never received an EPA Indoor airPLUS certificate or proof that any required work (per the EPA checklist) was performed. This in itself is a breach of contract. We are convinced that Addison never completed the Indoor airPLUS Version 1 Verification Checklist - we vacuumed all air ducts ourselves after moving in to remove construction debris. When some changes were made to selections (i.e., a plastic septic tank rather than concrete, as stated in the contract), Todd Usher told us there was no financial benefit; the costs were the same. Hindsight, we should have insisted on seeing all financial calculations. We are currently working with a lawyer to get some issues resolved. We highly recommend NOT using Addison Homes. read more
