Went to see Pablo Francisco recently and the show was hilarious and couldnt stop laughing. Atmosphere was great and next door is a great piano bar for pregame or after show ends. Perfect way to end the night. Will come back to this location soon. read more

Went to the Improv Sat night to see...err...I have no idea the guy's name. He has cerebal palsy though, so a lot of his show is talking about his physical limitations etc. Annnnyway, this is the first time I have been here after almost 10 years in Dallas. We had to wait in the hallway (which was smoky...and I don't mind smoky) while the hostess wandered around looking for what was supposed to be our table. Apparently our table was no longer available. We ended up being seated dead in front of the stage with a large group of people that were all together. Upgrade. The comics were pretty funny, I had a good view, and overall it was ok even though people are packed in all sardine like in there. Service was fast, our guy was on the ball and he split the tickets without being asked. That's good since it would have been awkward trying to split our tickets with those people we didn't know hehe I didn't eat here because that just doesn't seem like a good idea, but the drinks were fine and there seemed to be some alcohol in them. Afterwards the valet situation outside was a little crazy, but we managed to get our car pretty fast and since it was cold I was very glad about that. Overall I thought it was pretty ok to see some live comedy, so if someone I knew was going to be there I would totally go again. read more

I'm a huge stand-up fan but I absolutely detest the comedy club setup. Here is how it works at all comedy clubs nationwide. You either pay a basic cover for a bunch of unknowns or buy tickets for a known act. Be careful of the free tickets that are given out at any comedy club because they aren't free at all. Once you arrive you are seated and then the con begins; you are held to a (usually) two drink per person minimum. I've seen other places where you are also required to buy food. The selection of food is basically cheap overpriced bar food and outrageously priced drinks. The gratuity is already figured into your bill when you receive it and - at my recent trip to the Addison Improv - an additional $1.85 "delivery fee." Absurd. But, that's the racket and to enjoy good comedy outside of a theater that's what you have to go through. Coming from Oklahoma we really don't have a viable comedy venue of note. Oh, we have a couple, but they never book any known acts so I go to the Addison Improv quite a bit. The last show I saw at the Improv was Jim Norton. It ended up being more pricy than seeing him at say a theater as tickets were $45.00 each BEFORE the comedy club con began. With a few drinks, tips and the "delivery fee" it was well over $140. I've spent much more on far less and that is just the way it goes at comedy clubs and Norton was fantastic as always. Whoever came up with this system should be euthanized. I do have to give the Addison Improv and the rest of the Improv chain 4 stars based on talent bookings alone. Either at the Addison or the Kansas City location I've seen Jim Norton, Jim Jeffries, Jay Mohr, Louis CK before he was too big for the club circuit, Patrice O'Neal (RIP), Doug Stanhope, and Andrew Dice Clay amongst others. The facilities are first class, there's really not a bad seat in the house. Every performance is intimate and there's always a chance for a photo op afterwards if you so choose. I just absolutely hate this comedy club system. There has to be a better way! But until then whether you are at Carolines or the Comedy Cellar in NYC or the Comedy Store in LA this is how they all operate from coast to coast. The best way to enjoy a comedy show is to enjoy your two drink minimum and do not eat the food - it is universally bad and the price will leave a bad taste in your mouth literally and figuratively. read more

I was very excited to come see one of my favorite comedians and he didn't disappoint. Almost cried laughing. The low stars are for the venue itself. The seating arrangement makes no sense. You would think they would be smart enough to have everyone's seat facing the stage but it's all diagonal so when you are watching the show, your neck is turned causing some serious discomfort. You can't really turn your chair either since everyone is too close together. The tables are those long party tables that seat 12, so be prepared to sit next to random people who just might be loud and drunk. If the seating was changed and the ordering food policy wasn't so outrageous then this would be a 5 star place. Beware : you have to order two menu items per person or you get charged for not ordering. Even if you don't want anything to eat. It's a $4 charge per item not ordered. read more

I've been here a few times and tonight was awesome with Loni Love, Pat Brown and others... Just come here for the comedy and drink...food is bar food so don't expect anything quality. I've only ordered nachos to share and it was ok. I recommend coming no matter who is playing. There's always a few on stage so one of them (usually all of them) will make you laugh! read more

Yikes... We went last night (7/1/17) and was was our least favorite visit, by far. (We've been 4 times.) This was the later of the two shows, starting at 9:30pm. D.L. Hugley was the "big" act and sadly, he was on stage... DRUNK, with another drink, in hand. Drunk like... slurring his speech, using the wall to hold himself up (during parts of the act), and making one really, horrible statement about his special needs child that make me embarrassed for D.L. and his son! The "N" word was prevalent, with each of the comedians. It was a challenge, for me, as it is incredibly offensive! The comedy club's margarita machine was not working, which left my boyfriend "less than thrilled". It wasn't all bad, though... The best of the four comedians was Clint Cooley, he was very funny. read more

This place is dingy. It's old. The chairs and tables are uncomfortable and look like something from a bingo hall. You are hitting elbows with the people behind you and next to you as well. Not to mention the "break ur neck" seating arrangement they have going on. I had a cramp in it by the end of the night. We had dinner before arriving here but when we were seated at our table the waiter Jeremy made it harshly clear that we were to each order 2 things from the menu because it was the clubs policy. He came by the table about 3 times badgering us if we were ready to order yet and when we finally did he got the order wrong. The drinks were horrible and our food never made it out. When it was time to pay our check, it was also wrong. And they also add an 18% surcharge. Your would think with the surcharge and ticket service fees and the 2 menu minimums that they could really amp this place up but no, not here. I will say that the comedians that were there that night were amazing and put on a great show with big laughs, we really enjoyed them but it's the venue/staff that ruined it for me. read more

I wasn't impressed at all. They have a lot of big names and the acts are great but the drinks are gross and the food isn't all that. I had ordered a top shelf margarita and I spit it out. The homeless men in Dallas have better tequila. It's like the put sweet and sour with a splash of gas station tequila. As for the space...it's cramped. The server almost dumped an entire tray of drinks on me because there wasn't any space to turn or move. The food was alright. Typical bar food. If you go I recommend just sticking with beer. There is a 2 drink minimum AND they add the tip. Kind of tacky for a one person check but I guess they are desperate for money. Like I said stick with beer or water and you'll be fine. One, you are packed in like sardines, two the food is terrible, three they have a two purchase minimum per person and its hard to find your waiter and then to tell him 3x and still no drink is pitiful, three the darn show was suppose to start at 7pm and after 30 mins of waiting we still waited and waited. "A Dirty Banquet Hall at Best" I was extremely disappointed that Dallas would have a crappy comedy club that on occasion have A-list comedy acts. The vibe of this place is the pits, I went from being happy and excited about seeing Gary Owens until I arrived to see the venue, I couldn't believe that A-List comics would perform here. You are packed in like sardines to cafeteria style tables. And if your lucky, you break your neck from turning to see who is on stage... The owner of this place is making a ton of money and to allow A-list comics perform there... would put a bad taste (about Dallas) in the mouths of those comics. They need to shut down, tear down, and rebuild. This comedy club is located in a upscale area, not the hood, it is a bad representation of Addison if you are visiting in my opinion. Im so disappointed! Ive come here several times and never had a problem with the place, and I'm not sure if its a new policy or what... but at the bottom of our ticket was the 18% gratuity. That's no biggy, I usually add on to that anyway, but this time they broke down what the 18% goes to: Only 11% to the waiter, some to the host, some to the busboy, some to the kitchen?? We didn't order food why would we tip out the kitchen? Not my job to pay your entire staff! We just want to tip our waiter then be done. The host just said "go find your friends"...you're not getting a dollar for that lol. The next thing was that we were ordering "Well" drinks, which we said multiple times because he kept asking which vodka or which whiskey we wanted. If they don't have wells, then maybe they should just say so rather than choosing them for us. It was a huge surprise to find out the double well vodkas were actually double Stolis, that definitely jacked the price up... Im not a cheap-skate but I am on a budget, definitely wouldn't have drank as heavy. Not saying I wont be back, but I am going to be more weary of what I order and how the tips go.... The people for the most part are always friendly and prompt about drinks and food, this time our waiter wasn't too great but I have been here plenty of times to know it's the person not the business. Had a great time at this place. It's a really positive experience to have a comedy club locally. It offers a multipurpose outing, be it with the buds or just something to do on a date. We came here and saw Sarah Colonna, writer from the Chelsea lately show and she was pretty hilarious. I know they get pretty good quality comedians coming in and they always have bogo 2 for 1 specials. I wasn't a huge fan of the food and the drinks were a bit pricey, but all-in-all it's a good place. read more

My wife and I have been here a few times. We have seen Tracy Morgan, Ralphy May and Aris Spears. This is a great place to see a show. The only thing that was not cool was the line to get in. If you are going to see a top notch comedian, make sure you get there super early. The line starts at the door and of you are not one of the first 20 or so people in line, then the line goes out the door and down the stair case. I hope its not cold outside if you are waiting outside in line. There is a bar/club next to the front doors but you might want someone in your party to save your spot because you wont get your spot in line back. The shows are great. We have sat up front at all of the shows we went to. There is a 2-item min. so you can get a beer and some food. The food is not all that bad. The comedians most of the time will sign autographs after the show, you just have to wait a few minutes for them to come back out. We will be back if there is someone that we would like to see. BLUF: Go for the comedy, not the food, service, or atmosphere. Enjoyed last night's comedians (especially Gary Anderson), but did not enjoy this venue. The tables are pushed together and the chairs are so tightly packed that I felt like I was sitting on the stranger's lap next to me. I received a mild concussion from the chick next to me as she brushed her hair. And forget trying to eat -- elbows everywhere. As for eating, don't bother -- the food was terrible. The menu states pickle chips -- we got spears. Bland, unseasoned spears. No, no, and no. We had to ask for plates and silverware. Oh, and they were out of some beer listed on the menu, so the server had to run down the list of what WAS available, which was a shorter list. I realize this was not Spago, but at least bring out what's advertised. Hate to be negative, so here's a positive: A bottle of water counts toward the two-item purchase requirement. read more

Food is overpriced and lacks any reasonable quality. Staff is RUDE and highly unprofessional. They tried to kick my friends and some others at our table out when all we were simply doing was laughing (at a comedy club, crazy I know), and their drinks are extremely overpriced and you can't taste a drop of alcohol in your $8-$15 cocktail. My first time at a comedy club, was here to see Ali Wong. I bought my ticket online with a small servicing fee that they charge. I received the "ticket" via email, so you know I thought like any other venue? If you buy it online and pay for the servicing fee, you can just show them the ticket at go in. Nope not this place!!! You have to wait in line at the box office with your ticket and your credit card, show it to them and they'll print out a receipt, wth the point of having to buy your ticket online and still have to go to the box office!!! I've come here several times for shows. The last I went to was the Russell Peters act which 2 of my friends also attended. We were seated in the wrong area, but the seater graciously moved our party to a reserved table right next to the stage, so it was a GREAT mistake on the waiters part! He definitely did his job in accommodating our needs. I can't remember anything particularly special about the food. However, I did try the "test tube baby" shot they had on their menu.....I specifically ordered it for the funny name. It was AWESOME...tasted like some sort of apple pie/ice cream concoction w a gooey substance at the bottom. It sure did resemble its name! haha! I recommend trying it if you visit. I love being on the mailing list for this place bc I get stuff for free tickets all the time. The opening acts are always good except for one guy during the Friends of Fluffy show. With the minimum order of 2 items per person, I'd normally opt for drinks but everytime I've been here, I'm the driver so I've sampled out some items from the menu. I expected greasy and cheesy but I was pleasantly surprised. The most eye appealing dish so far has been the stuffed jhelepinos. so fancy. So here is the deal. This place is great for comedy. It's always a good crowd. Famous names come through all the time. There are 2 for 1 deals. Everything is good in that department. But here is the problem, this places crams too many people into a small space. There is barely room for the waitstaff to navigate around table, feet, and chairs. I feel terrible for the waitstaff as they get yelled at for bumping into people. And I get aggravated having to move all the time. Other than that, this place does the trick. Come to find out instructor was inside the entire time, forgot to unlock the doors, sat up there until 10 am and could not figure out why no one showed up, what a joke. I really enjoyed the comedians that we saw, but the place is sort of dumpy. They have old banquet chairs, and blah laminate tables. The food is not that great, the chardonnay I had came out lukewarm, and it was all overpriced since you had to have a two item minimum. We are going to the Addison Improv for the first time tomoro. We always go to the Arlington Highlands Improv. We like the Arlington Improv because it's close to my apartment. We don't have far to drive after drinking 2 Bacardi 151 Sunrise cocktails. We enjoy the cheese sticks with marinara sauce but ask for two cause one sauce is not enough, I drove to Dallas on Sunday. There's no traffic Sundays so this is gonna be our evening to comedy club in Dallas since I have to drive 30 minutes. The Improv offers Haha tickets for $5 on Sundays when available. After I pick Luis up he drives us from Park Lane in Dallas to Addison. We're gonna avoid I-75 and 635 next time. We'll just go northbound on Hilcrest to Beltline. When we got to the Addison Improv we noticed a police officer in an SUV driving westbound on Beltline with her flashing lights on behind a car. This part of Beltline is way to congested for this. To get into the Addison Improv there is an unpleasant climb up stairs to get into the club and I mean "climb up" behind other people in high heeled shoes and tight clothes. After we got up there I popped into the restroom and one patron told me there is an elevator in the back of the complex so the club is wheelchair accessible. The restroom is clean. I mentioned while standing by the restroom, to the manager that I prefer the Arlington Improv and he said "Yes, the Arlington club was built 4 years ago as opposed to the Dallas club that was built 30 years ago". I never thought about that! I loved the food at .the Dallas Improv. I had the fried Shrimp Basket, $9.95. It had Approx 5 large flat Shrimp, Sweet Potato Fries, and Hushpuppies. I don't eat or cook a lot while I'm on a budget so this meal was right on point! The waitress gave us the option off sweet potato fries and they were crinkled! The Hushpuppies were crispy and good! This was an excellent value! Luis ordered mozzarella sticks. They're listed as chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks, but u can ask for all mozzarella sticks and they are $1 cheaper, $7.95, when u omit the chicken strips . We asked for extra sauces and we got them, but they were a little slow bringing the extra marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks. We had already had cocktails in our van, which I advise u do too at $8 a cocktail! We're on budget these days I can buy a whole 750 ml of Bacardi for $20 and mix as much as we want. I made 2 thermos of 2 oz of Bacardi 151 with 1 oz of Disarrono, lots of pineapple juice, a little OJ, and grenadine syrup...some Sunrise Cocktails! The comedian, Dov Davidoff was a big disappointment. I went to hear his relationship jokes and he didn't start those til after the checks were passed out! He should've opened with those. The crowd was bland. He didn't involve the crowd? In Arlington the comedians always involve the crowd. I laughed harder watching him on You Tube. The seating was ok. We got a 2 seater way off to the right of the stage along the wall. Luis kept yawning. Now when an artist comes to Dallas as opposed to Arlington I won't feel like I'm missing out. read more

My husband and I went our first live comedy event at the Addison Improv this past weekend and we had a really good time! The setting was intimate and ol' timesy. They have a wall by the DJ booth that showcases black and white images of comedy icons who have passed away. I thought that was pretty cool. Yes, you share tables with other people, but that ended up working out just fine since all of us went to laugh together, right!? We bought the VIP tickets and didn't mind paying the additional $5 fee because as a business owner, I know what processing fees can amount to. We went early as advised on the website and ticket information and found this to be a good tip. It gave us time to order food/drinks before the start of the event. We were seated pretty close to the stage and the drinks were on point - a little pricey, but with plenty of liquor (try the Long Island Iced Tea and the Texas Tea - my husband and I felt adventurous so we asked the waiter to have them be made with top shelf liquor for only $2 more!) With these 2 drinks, you'll cover the 2 drink minimum and call it a night! We ordered the fried catfish which came with 2 big fillets (which we split), fried, and hush puppies. The food was tasty, but we've had better fried catfish TBH. The comedy event had us in stitches even though the guy sitting behind me was pretty annoying, but that's not the venue's fault. The service was quick, friendly, and courteous (many thanks to our waiter, Ishmael!) We will be going back for more good times! read more

Comedians put on a great show. However the servers were unfriendly and at times seem annoyed. One lady stood out. She was a black women. I want to say she was either the host or the manager in charge. But she was very rude to everyone and at times talk down to people. This is the service industry they are working in.
