Alamo used to be my SPOT when I had all the time in the world to go to the movies. We especially loved the Lake Highlands location best. We recently visited to watch the Odyssey and since it's a three hour film, we figured it be good to go somewhere with food. The ordering process was very different. I heard they changed it after some management updates at Alamo but I do miss the experience of more human interactions with the staff. We ended up just sticking to refillable popcorn and sodas which was fine for a matinee. Oh and the Odyssey? RUNNN to watch it in theaters!! The movie theatre is still good to watch with nice reclined seats but it's not the same as when it first opened. The food has kind of gone down drastically. The pizzas are trash. It used to be really good! Bottomless pop corn aren't bad. Milkshakes were alright. I'm disappointed in the pizza mostly. Ordered the mushroom pizza and added bacon and pepperoni. The picture showed there was arugula. The description said there was arugula. There was none. I wanted some. Also, no shishito peppers. The online menu (not the qr code) said they had them. they also switched to mobile ordering. I don't mind the mobile ordering but service has kind of gone down. It's still a good place to watch movies but I do worry this place may be out of business given how let down it's gotten. It's really a good theatre that's close to me. read more

Went with family to see Hail Mary about a 3 hour film. Ordered a couple craft beer's from extensive beer menu which is impressive! Nice to be able to get Lakewood on tap! Theater was clean and audience was respectful. Had orders of chicken tenders and other food items that were excellent and devoured by our party. The Alamo Drafthouse is a groovy little theater located in Richardson. They have a bar and restaurant where you can go hangout or you can indulge in a meal and a drink while watching a show on one of their big screens. We recently saw Project Hail Mary here on a Tuesday night. My husband bought the tickets in advance on Fandango so he could reserve our seats. He said it was surprisingly cheap, and my husband NEVER says that! LOL! The strip mall has a lot of parking, so you are bound to find something close. Check-in is just inside the door. The different screening rooms wrap around the hall. The aisles are wide so that you and a server can get through without bumping into the recliner chairs. The chairs are decently comfortable, but the middle seats get used a bit more than others, so you might notice that they aren't as supportive nowadays. There is a swing table with a QR code to access the menu. WiFi is free. ADH is really strict about phone use during movies and with unnecessary talking. They will not hesitate to boot you, but they have softened their stance a bit now that the menus are accessible by phone. I ordered everything online. The process was super easy to add drinks and food. I didn't like having to pull out my credit card and try to enter that in the dark. I really wish they had offered payments through PayPal and Apple Pay. We had margaritas, bottomless popcorn, and a pizza, but NO NAPKINS! My popcorn was given to the guy next to me, but he was nice and said, "This must be yours.". I handed it to my husband. The servers cane and went several times bringing food and drinks to various people. The movie started and still no pizza. I was not happy about this. We got there early so I wouldn't have to eat in the dark. It finally arrived, but I was not impressed. I ordered the Margherita. It was soggy, so the crust didn't hold the ingredients. I had to fold each slice NY style to prevent myself from wearing it. The mozzarella rounds on top were not really melted. They were still thick circle slices. I would not order this again. The popcorn was good, but I wasn't sure how to get seconds for our bottomless order. The QR code did have something that said seconds, but I didn't dare turn on my phone to put in a request during the film for fear of being booted. Maybe next time I will just get a standard popcorn. It's cheaper. Film was loud! Too loud for my hubby. He had his fingers in his ears the entire time. I was okay with it, but you definitely wouldn't want to make a habit of coming to see films here and risk your hearing longterm. ADH has some fun old films that they show each month. These special events often include props related to the film. It looks like fun. We will have to check it out eventually. We usually come here for new screenings that aren't available on streaming yet. They also have a monthly membership that allows you to see multiple films each month without the hassle of paying each time. When I go to the movies, my preference is definitely Alamo Drafthouse! The environment is vintage, quirky, and very friendly. I love seeing all the retro commercials or movie clips of the actors or the theme of the movie prior to the movie. Some of those old clips are down right funny, and often I have never seen them before. And the food is the best! I look forward to going to the movie not only to see my feature but also to eat. That's not something I say when going to other theaters. And I haven't had anything I didn't thoroughly enjoy. read more

I haven't been to an Alamo Drafthouse in Y E A R S but just will say, this is not the environment I am looking for EVEN when I come in to simply enjoy a draft. Alex at the bar was nice. He entertained me with conversation. But the reality, the dynamic between everyone working reassured me to not come back. The man pictured offered nothing bad energy whilst standing around the bar. He demanded things. Offered rude commentary without request. And didn't seem to enjoy, in any sense, being here. Now let me get back to the food, drinks, and service. The 512 Pecan Porter treated me more than well! And the chicken cedar wrap!!! My my. Worth the price because this thing is ginormous! The food and drink are great! If you're a service person? Don't come to enjoy yourself at the bar before hand. You'll end up questioning your choice in venue. I won't be back. And it is solely because the service team wasn't together. They weren't a team. I felt the anger. I felt the frustration. I felt the resentment. I saw the pow wows around the corner where they held private dialogue about situation after situation. And it was unsettling. How does paying a 28% convenience fee for buying tickets online sound to you? This was my experience a couple nights ago when we got to the end of the checkout process. I understand companies have costs to cover. That's why they are allowed to decide what services they offer and set their own prices for their goods and services. They like to say stupid things like "this helps us offset the cost of providing the convenience of buying tickets online." So where is your air conditioning fee? What about your electricity fee? Cleaning fee? How about a silverware fee? Convenience fees are a tool used by scummy companies who want to take advantage of customers with psychology tricks. "You've gotten this far into the checkout process at a certain price, selected your seats already, probably gotten your kids excited...oh, but surprise! Here's an arbitrary, surprise fee to finalize your booking." They could bake this cost into the price of the tickets just like they do every other cost. It's not about the convenience. It's about finding another way to bilk a little more money out of customers. People might say it has to do with the cost of processing a credit card transaction, but the fee is literally 10x higher than credit card processing costs. Anything else this company might say or do that is customer friendly, any good food or service they might happen to provide some people, just remember that it's all predicated on a foundation of trying to take advantage of you. Alamo used to be great, but they seem to have gone straight downhill with their new menu ordering system. Instead of watching a movie, you have to spend time on your phone figuring out how to order, where to get a refill, how to apply your discount, can't get a to go box for leftovers bc no employee is in the theater at the end. If you want water, you have to enter your credit card number in order to get a free water. This is the most annoying, convoluted system ever! Apparently corporate doesn't believe in customer service. It's much cheaper to have you, the customer, do everything and they will just bring you your order and never check on you, help, answer questions, etc. Yeah, if you spend enough time looking at your phone, you can figure out where to go. Then you miss the movie! When you complain, the managers can't do anything. All they can say is it was corporate's decision. Corporate can F off. Go to Studio Movie Grill instead. They still have service. Zero stars. read more

I loved coming to this place back in 2018. Have been there multiple times. Decided to check it out again, and am very disappointed by how much they rip your wallet apart by "fees." Started off with the typical convinced fees to buy tickets online, so I decided to wait and get them at the door. Didn't think anything of it. Got the tickets at $15 per which is expensive but normal these days. When we sat down, the prices for food took me off guard. My milkshake was $9.25 and the loaded fries were $14. Expensive but I thought it was okay for a special occasion. Plus I always enjoyed the food before. Then the app notified me at purchase that there was an 18% service charge fee....okay. Then they texted me that if I didn't close the app after the movie finished that I would be charged a 5% tip fee. So I closed the app. Later I got emailed my receipt and noticed they charged me gratuity on top of the service fee without my authority to do so. I always tip when I go out but being forced to tip and forced to pay a high service charge is robbery. One date was easily $100+ between the two of us with 2 drinks and 2 appetizers. My experience would have been completely fine and enjoyable but it's not worth that price tag. Won't be back. read more

Our food was never brought out. When I went to complain with the manager she just offered to refund my money. Never coming to this place again. I wasn't even able to enjoy the movie as I had to come out to ask for service. They have a new system where you don't order with a server but through your phone, but they never bring out your food. Apparently this is a common theme here because many people were going out to get their drinks from the bar and another person was getting a refund for their order. Don't recommend you come here. I would have given 1 star but the strips and sauces were actually pretty good. The servers was very friendly as well. However the service was absolutely trash along with the additional fees for a "private event". I ordered my strips and fries at 7:06 my girlfriend also ordered some mozzarella sticks. Her mozzarella sticks came out in about 10 minutes. We had to ask one servers about the ETA on the strips around 7:30 and she told us the fryer was backed up. Around 7:45 I asked the other servers to just make my food togo since we would be leaving soon. A big part of the marketed Alamo Drafthouse experience is the distraction free environment-- zero tolerance for talking, phones being used during the movie, or any other kind of disruptive behavior, so it's a bummer that the biggest distractions during my screening were by theater staff. I have no complaints about the customer service, my server was pleasant, however the ensemble of staff that delivered the food and drinks during the movie kept bringing my party's food and drink to the wrong people, leaving us to try and figure out who got what in the dark theater without disturbing the people next to us. There was a lot of cross over and back and forth. What I'm assuming was my drink was served to the person sitting next to me, who I didn't know. They had to press the service request button to tell a server that it wasn't their drink, the server took it, and then a few moments later returned and put it on my tray. I assumed the drink was mine, but it was hard to tell since it was a soft drink in a standard glass, the theater was dark since the movie was playing, and I didn't want to disturb a stranger. Both the person I came to the theater with and I ordered a soft drink and a bottomless popcorn each, and she waited a significantly longer time to get her popcorn than I did. That being said, it was delicious. We should've just split a single bowl because we barely put a dent in each of ours, and she wouldn't have had to wait an extra 5-10 minutes to get hers. I know that the staff are doing their best to ensure a great moviegoing experience and to accurately serve the food and drinks, and I'm not meaning to discount the difficulty of navigating a dark theater with food and drinks to serve, but I find it a bit ironic that I've had far less distracting screenings at other theaters that don't have the same emphasis Alamo Drafthouse has on that quality. read more

Here's the deal- Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has some great things going for it. If you want a more elevated movie going experience geared towards cinephiles, it's pretty good- think quote-a-longs, signature programming, brunch shows, etc...it's a fun experience. The disappointing part is the food. I've been here many times over the years and ordered different things off the menu, but there is a consistent thread here... It's too much. Too salty, too greasy, too heavy. It's junk food. This most recent time I had the queso and chips. It was bad. The chips are your standard over-salted chips. Not made in house-just chips saturated in salt and queso that's salty. I also ordered a Mexican Vanilla Shake and that too suffered from "too much". The culprit was too much cinnamon. I barely got through a quarter of the shake before I threw in the towel. There is no restraint here. No subtlety. The service though, has always been friendly. Another thing about this location is the icky smell of musty carpets. This site needs a deep cleaning. When you walk in, you can easily smell it, and it's an unappealing precursor to the greasy food. I want to love Alamo Drafthouse, but considering the food is too...everything and the smell of ick hangs in the air- I will probably still come here anyway because it's just what we've done from time to time. The movie selections are good, and I appreciate them having low tolerance for taking, texting ,etc...but this place needs an overhaul of the food and a deep clean. read more

I used to love this place but the last visit was disappointing. I ordered my Diet Coke and was informed that they were out. They offered Coke Zero, which was fine. About 30 minutes later, I was told they were out of that, too. It took about an hour and 2 orders to get our popcorn. No napkins came with the popcorn. Server was not very friendly when he did show up. At one point, he set a new water in front of me. I thanked him, then he picked it up and gave it to someone sitting next to me instead. Weird. I know these are first world problems, but for the prices I paid, I expected better. I'm really hoping this was just one bad experience because I used to love this place. read more

They serve generous amounts of popcorn too much to finish alone. The burger was juicy & fresh. They also curate little premovie shows based on the movie & it was funny. The theater seating is smaller than your other chains, but it makes a huge difference in service & quality. They also have a nice bar & cocktail menu. read more

It's nice to take a break from our general theatre's and visit Alamo for a good meal. I love coming to this Alamo as their chefs are always consistent with great tasting food There is a nice variety of entrees to choose from, great appetizers and fun, adult milkshakes. The "Grasshopper" being my favorite! Additionally, all of the staff is friendly, from cashier, welcoming us at the front door to their servers and expeditors, all are professional, timely and courteous. The only bummer is, I got excited because I thought their "Grownup Grilled Cheese" was permanently back, it was pulled after COVID, but it's not I had one 10 days ago, only to order today, to no avail... I need their recipe, lol... If you want a good meal and a movie, come visit this Alamo, you won't be disappointed. read more

First experience at an Alamo Drafthouse, and I will have a hard time wanting to go anywhere else now! I have heard of it but was convinced by Elijah Wood in an interview. Went to see Twin Peaks: FWWM (LOVE the Lynch month!!) and realized I showed up a week early but both attendants that helped us were amazing and we ended up seeing Eraserhead. Our waiter was amazing as well, the popcorn was delicious, the drinks were good, and the prices are extremely fair, especially for a theater!! Will absolutely be back. The food is terrible. We ordered a chicken goat cheese wrap. One ordered with extra tomatoes was dry. One ordered with extra goat cheese was salty. Both flour tortillas were dry. I soooooooo sorry to see this franchise go. It was so unique. Yes... there's a million different theaters that serve food, popcorn and show movies. I like to think that Alamo was different. It was fun. The quality of the food was better. The popcorn was better (and I honestly judge a theater based on their popcorn!). The sound, quality, comfort, staff... it was all there. They had a bar area and a place to chill outside. I didn't do the trivia nights or the retro movie nights. But I'm sure that was fun. I regret that I didn't. Then I randomly saw a news report where the theaters were planning to close. My plan was to at least see one more movie before it shut down. The weekend finally gets here when I usually open the app to check the movie listings. The app doesn't work! I go online and find out the theaters a permanently closed. I moment of reality and sadness hit me. I missed my opportunity. All I have are the memories to look back on. I sincerely hope they're resurrected one day. Thank goodness there's a theater that requires no talking and no texting during the movie. I read a yelp review for somebody who was upset that they couldn't talk during the movie because they were with their girlfriend I guess. They gave the place a one star when all the theater was doing is exactly what they advertise as their differentiator: no talking or texting. I say good job ADH. If someone wants to talk why not stream/watch it at home. No one wants to listen or hear other peoples conversations during a movie. That's called ruining the movie for others. Service on this visit was very good as always in our experience. The food rating varies by menu item, but I have to say the fried chicken sandwich with Asian slaw is five stars every time. The french fries are excellent as well. Not a fan of the Margherita pizza and still wondering why they don't have the tomato basil pesto pizza anymore. The manager on duty Eric H. would not let me attend a desired movie that had a start time of 10:30am (first movie of the day). Granted I arrived at 10:46am. You can buy tix in advance online, although we did not- just showed vintage style Don't need a recliner to watch a movie- the seats are still super comfy. Love the throwback ads before the show. My dinner was sooo good- hats off for excellent vegan options. No pictures: you can't use your your devices in the theatre. #Respect. And my draft beer was so crisp, cold and fresh. The facilities are clean and well maintained. It's a wonderful night out. Alamo Drafthouse is comfy, chill, delicious eats, and a great experience. We saw a brand new release, and this location also offers classic movies. There are seven show rooms. Plus many other food options in the same plaza. read more

Love this place! Its an older/cheaper version of the so cals cineopolis. Seats are assigned with a table set in front of you. 6.50 a ticket for matinee price. Extensive menu including full bar and vegan options. The lobby has a bar attatched to it for pre drinking. Place is spotless! Servers are wonderful. I wish this was everywhere!! read more

I saw three matinees during my time in the Dallas area. I like watching movies when I am travelling. It's fun to me and it feels like a real vacation. As much as I love Cinemark, I decided to give Alamo a try after finding out that Bohemian Rhapsody was at this location. Including this visit, I have seen the flick three times. And, yes, I will likely own the DVD when it comes out. I headed over here after having lunch at Pie Tap. Don't ask me how I made it here. I couldn't tell you. I was in a pizza pie food coma. I parked close to the entrance and went in. The concession stand is where you also purchase tickets. A male staff member let a woman at the bar know that I was waiting for service. I got a ticket that cost me a grand total of $5.41. I can't complain about the price. I paid by credit card. You choose your seat. I chose one without folks in front of me. The lobby is cool. You can look at the merchandise, such as t-shirts, that you can buy. I loved the old 80's arcade machines, including Pac-Man. There are cool padded seats for you to sit there and wait for folks. How Alamo works is pretty cool. You automatically get complimentary water in the theatre. If you want to order food, menus are there for you to peruse. When you are ready, you jot down your order on a piece of paper and stand it up in the slot in front of you. A staff member comes over, takes the paper, and gets on your order. Your food then gets delivered right to you. I love it! Sadly, I could not take advantage of this service. I was so full from lunch! I did like sipping on my ice cold water throughout the movie. The menu is extensive. It even has some vegetarian options. Before the show, the theatre shows YouTube videos that are related to the movie that you are about to see. In my case, we all got to see Queen performances and folks singing along to their music. It was nice. I love Alamo's rule to not text during the movie. If you are caught, you get a warning. After that, you get kicked out of the movie. Same goes with talking during the movie. I love it all! The seats aren't as comfortable as Cinemark. However, I was fine. I was glad that I couldn't recline in my seat. I wouldn't have known how to eject myself from my seat after such a decent, carb-rich lunch! The movie quality and sounds was excellent. This theater offers food outside of just ur normal theater fair....with that's being said it hasn't been updated since the concept was introduced over 15 years ago....seats are pretty small and uncomfortable...I'm a pretty small guy weight in at 150 lbs.... I can't imagine being a bigger person and fitting in... I love the concept of dinner and a movie but needs to be updated...I seen other theater with reclining seat with and moveable seat trays to make experience more enjoyable...overall would not return....
