The Alamo Drafthouse is a groovy little theater located in Richardson. They have a bar and restaurant where you can go hangout or you can indulge in a meal and a drink while watching a show on one of their big screens. We recently saw Project Hail Mary here on a Tuesday night. My husband bought the tickets in advance on Fandango so he could reserve our seats. He said it was surprisingly cheap, and my husband NEVER says that! LOL! The strip mall has a lot of parking, so you are bound to find something close. Check-in is just inside the door. The different screening rooms wrap around the hall. The aisles are wide so that you and a server can get through without bumping into the recliner chairs. The chairs are decently comfortable, but the middle seats get used a bit more than others, so you might notice that they aren't as supportive nowadays. There is a swing table with a QR code to access the menu. WiFi is free. ADH is really strict about phone use during movies and with unnecessary talking. They will not hesitate to boot you, but they have softened their stance a bit now that the menus are accessible by phone. I ordered everything online. The process was super easy to add drinks and food. I didn't like having to pull out my credit card and try to enter that in the dark. I really wish they had offered payments through PayPal and Apple Pay. We had margaritas, bottomless popcorn, and a pizza, but NO NAPKINS! My popcorn was given to the guy next to me, but he was nice and said, "This must be yours.". I handed it to my husband. The servers cane and went several times bringing food and drinks to various people. The movie started and still no pizza. I was not happy about this. We got there early so I wouldn't have to eat in the dark. It finally arrived, but I was not impressed. I ordered the Margherita. It was soggy, so the crust didn't hold the ingredients. I had to fold each slice NY style to prevent myself from wearing it. The mozzarella rounds on top were not really melted. They were still thick circle slices. I would not order this again. The popcorn was good, but I wasn't sure how to get seconds for our bottomless order. The QR code did have something that said seconds, but I didn't dare turn on my phone to put in a request during the film for fear of being booted. Maybe next time I will just get a standard popcorn. It's cheaper. Film was loud! Too loud for my hubby. He had his fingers in his ears the entire time. I was okay with it, but you definitely wouldn't want to make a habit of coming to see films here and risk your hearing longterm. ADH has some fun old films that they show each month. These special events often include props related to the film. It looks like fun. We will have to check it out eventually. We usually come here for new screenings that aren't available on streaming yet. They also have a monthly membership that allows you to see multiple films each month without the hassle of paying each time. That's a great idea for the movie aficionado or someone who likes to go out regularly. I do love the movie experience and try to support this local film house whenever I get a chance.

When I go to the movies, my preference is definitely Alamo Drafthouse! The environment is vintage, quirky, and very friendly. I love seeing all the retro commercials or movie clips of the actors or the theme of the movie prior to the movie. Some of those old clips are down right funny, and often I have never seen them before. And the food is the best! I look forward to going to the movie not only to see my feature but also to eat. That's not something I say when going to other theaters. And I haven't had anything I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

First time here. The theatre is nice! Clean. Staff is friendly. We ordered fried pickle spears. The best! Ordered the Watermelon margarita, so tasty! Seating reclines & is comfortable! Great experience!

I haven't been to an Alamo Drafthouse in Y E A R S but just will say, this is not the environment I am looking for EVEN when I come in to simply enjoy a draft. Alex at the bar was nice. He entertained me with conversation. But the reality, the dynamic between everyone working reassured me to not come back. The man pictured offered nothing bad energy whilst standing around the bar. He demanded things. Offered rude commentary without request. And didn't seem to enjoy, in any sense, being here. Now let me get back to the food, drinks, and service. The 512 Pecan Porter treated me more than well! And the chicken cedar wrap!!! My my. Worth the price because this thing is ginormous! The food and drink are great! If you're a service person? Don't come to enjoy yourself at the bar before hand. You'll end up questioning your choice in venue. I won't be back. And it is solely because the service team wasn't together. They weren't a team. I felt the anger. I felt the frustration. I felt the resentment. I saw the pow wows around the corner where they held private dialogue about situation after situation. And it was unsettling. Thanks for a great beer and tasty wrap! And good luck keeping people coming back. The team work is there. But it's clear that it is provided with resentment. Why would anyone want to feel that? Not me after a 10 hour shift looking for good eats and a cold beer.

This location is very clean and comfortable. The only con was as great as the service was for my neighbors it seemed almost a one star Rating for our order. It was overlooked during our entire film service, and we were even brought others orders 2x. Thankfully, the service at the bar was exceptional!

    Empty promises at Alamo.

Showed up early to a special movie for a great party movie & bam waiter is too much. Speaks too fast, makes one suggestion on beer & shoves menu at us. Says look. Fine, no problem but just rude. Literally only 2 other tables on a Tuesday. Love the Alamo Drafthouse hated this experience.

    Hallway to the theaters.

Ask the Community - Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Richardson

How much does a ticket cost?

For an adult evening showing, online purchase is 11.50 plus 1.59 convenience fee. Matinee is $6.50 and then I think Tuesdays are $5 all day. I think convenience fee applies to all, not sure if that's just online purchases or in person purchases.

We had ordered the tickets in advance and you pre-select your seats. We ordered popcorn before the show. The lady at the concession stand was very nice and she provided extra bowls so it was easy to share the popcorn. The popcorn was delicious! Sadly, a few of our reclining seats did not recline. We probably could have moved since there was an abundance of empty seats. There couldn't have been more than 10 other patrons at our showing. We decided to just stay in our pre-selected seats. The restrooms were deplorable! In all, we enjoyed the movie and our time together, but this theater is in desperate need of renovations.

I arrived at 11:11p.m. and explained what had happened, but the security guard was extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of trying to help or politely explaining the policy, he spoke to me aggressively and simply told me they were closed. I understand that theaters may have policies about admitting guests after a movie has started, but customer service still matters. The combination of the ticketing issue and the way I was treated was disappointing. Because of this experience, I won't be returning.

Saw Toy Story 5 here recently which will date this review in short fashion with time!…read more I appreciated that the theater was overall clean and well-kept. The very young employees working to let people in didn't even scan our tickets, which was not an issue, but it could prove to be a problem for the theater if they don't have someone watching this a bit more closely. The preview/ ads before the movie were a full 30 minutes, which I found a bit excessive. I know all theaters have quite a few previews and wonder how much this varies. Reclining seats were comfortable, volume was appropriate, and temperature was nice without being arctic, as some theaters could be. What I didn't love was a $2 booking fee for buying your ticket online (per ticket) with a push to join a Cinemark monthly membership club to waive this fee. Seeing a movie in theaters is already quite expensive these days, so I didn't love the additional 17% fee on matinee ticket just for it to be purchased online. At the end of the day it's of course worth it to not be in the front row or far edge, but just tricky how most everything these days incurs hidden fees that can add up when trying to do family / group activities. Overall, the quality of this theater is still strong with some minor qualms likely characteristic of the industry.

Last time it was Wuthering Heights which is on HBO now and I tried torturing him with prior to having him sit through Euphoria szn 3. I think Devil Wears Prada 2 + Euphoria was the perfect combo for him to be thrilled to be back in LA and away from me. This was our first time to this Cinemark, I'm an extremely fast learner and notes were taken immediately upon arrival. Pro tip here: bring your cozy movie blanket. I'll need to purchase a dedicated blanket for this purpose because I am the type of weirdo who wouldn't feel comfy cozy to use my sofa blankie at the theatre and then return home to use it without washing it. I'm just neurotic like that. The seats were great, recliners WITH HEATERS. I love a heated seat, not toilet seat - those creep me out but a vehicle seat and now that I've had the option, a movie seat. Popcorn was mediocre at best, soft drink was subpar and I don't drink soda so when I'm going to have one it's a disappointment if it's not great. Perhaps the syrup needed to be replaced or it was some off brand to actual Sprite which my palate will detect immediately. This theatre was great in a pinch. I purchased our seats online a few minutes before deciding we'd take in a late show. I was actually concerned a bunch of people would be dressed to the nines since it was Devil Wears Prada and I was not changing out of my loungewear for this outing so I was thrilled that the 10p Plano crowd was not "after date" show dressed up, just a totally casual Saturday evening crowd which set me at ease. Wouldn't rule out returning for other films in the future and next time with my allocated movie theatre blanket.

The woman up front who sold us our tickets was especially helpful and answered questions we didn't know we had. She showed us her screen so we could select our seats. Only 2 others tickets had been purchased. That's it! There were only four of us in our screening room. We aimed for the seats in the center. It was the best viewing. The downside is that these seats do NOT recline. They look like recliners, but apparently only the front two rows have reclining seats. That was unfortunate. The seats are also a pleather-like material, so if you wear shorts or a short skirt, your skin might stick to it. It was a little warmer than I expected in the theater, but I'm guessing they don't bother having the temperature gauge low anymore because they don't get a lot of bodies in seats heating up the place. We were given a menu by the woman at front, but there was also a QR code on the tray table at our seat. There is a big red button on the front of the seat for calling the server. Our Margherita pizza and vanilla milkshake were brought out separately. The shake was delivered long after we had eaten our pizza. Even though we had arrived well before the movie started and ordered right away, the food didn't come out until right as the movie was starting. I was actually hoping the food would be delivered sooner so we could eat before it got dark. Per usual, I ended up with food spilling on my dress. Plus, I would have liked to drank my shake while splitting the pizza with my husband. He ordered a diet Pepsi - both a big NO in my book. Overall it was a decent experience. We usually go to the SMG in our neighborhood, but this one in Plano had a start time that worked better with our schedule, so we made the drive here. We will most likely return to our local SMG where all the seats recline, the theater is cold, and all of the food and drink are delivered at the same time.

This place is huge with other fun things you can do there like an arcade/bar/bowling. I haven't had a chance to do those but maybe someday... For me the food and the service has always been great, I usually get the same thing every time which is girl dinner: Chicken Caesar salad +fries + water and then maybe sometimes a dessert. This last time made me sad because the food was just not up to its usual standard. I was missing parts of my salad which were the crunchy parm crisps that tie the whole salad together! I searched for them in the darkness but alas...there were none. My fries were lukewarm at best, still crunchy and salty, but usually they're piping hot and fresh. When I tried to order dessert, the server came to my seat and told me all you had were the churros, so I cancelled my order because I just was not feeling that. I figured it was due to the fact that they had a private party, which I suspected from the beginning as the parking was packed, which for a Tuesday night, I was surprised to see since I usually have my days off during the week and have never seen this. All in all, I prefer this theater over other major chains like Cinemark or Regal just because they have always been consistent, I feel like they have a very diverse menu, and the place is always clean with comfy recliner seats. Oscar did reach out to me when I sent in my concerns over my last experience when they asked for a review, he said he wants to make sure my next visit is an enjoyable one, which I appreciated. One bad food experience isn't going to deter me from coming back as I said, this is not the norm. Mortal Kombat 2 is out and I will be watching that with my boyfriend and hopefully this time we get to experience those cute couches and the food service that I know and love.
