My fiancé and I attended this comedy club last night and we had a great time! The host was fantastic and the comedians were hilarious! I was also impressed by the diversity in the comedians and the variety of their acts. As for the venue it is small but it makes it more of an intimate setting. And the service was nice, our waiter was kind & made sure to come by before/ during the show to get us drinks. Just be aware the tables are pretty tiny. I watched a couple order 3 food items & they were struggling to fit it all on the table haha Overall this comedy club exceeded my expectations, the comedians were phenomenal, and I had an awesome time! Definitely coming back & I encourage others to check it out!

Just a first-timer at back door comedy who now wants to bring everyone she knows to the show

$15 for 1.5 hr of good laughs, a cozy and intimidate setting, pretty good drinks, I will DEFINITELY be coming again (and with friends) Everyone (waitstaff, comedians, literally everyone I ran into) is friendly and nice Drinks were reasonably priced and my margarita was pretty good! (Strong enough to make me buzzed but also easy on the tastebuds) Come with a positive attitude and a mindset to just have fun and enjoy everyone's set, you're literally paying $15 for a rotation of funny people. Such a good time. Such a lovely way to celebrate my birthday. Thank you for a good time!! I will say though I wish the inside didn't smell like so much cigarette smoke ): but I didn't leave smelling like smoke (: and everything's else is great.

    Me enjoying the show

Love this place. Small quaint. Super nice staff, unpretentious and always a good time. Come as you are, how you are and just enjoy a night of comedy w good drinks.

Authentic standup comedy from amateurs. Real genuine kind of place where even the staff take part in the shows. It's a small place but great for date night. Plus food and drinks are not expensive.

$12 cash or pay $14 with CC per person. 2 drink minimum pp as well. Plenty of parking but the room inside isn't huge so get there 30-20 mins before show time as it gets packed really quickly! I loved the variety of comedians from all types of backgrounds they had. We had our MC and he's Indian, we had whites and blacks and even an asian talking about the asian flush they all were in their own way relatable and how we laughed so hard for two hours! I also loved the solid mix of women and men tearing it up! Really solid show tonight and definitely worth the $12 we paid! Even with the two drinks, it was so reasonable! You cant get a deal like this these days! Definitely go and enjoy yourselves!!!! I haven't laughed like this in so long! Thumbs up! Honestly, their prices are so reasonable for the amount of laughs you get and you get your choices of drinks or food with it too. I don't see how anyone can complain a our prices. They are giving us a bargain if you ask me!

This is an extremely small comedy venue that is inside the double tree hotel. A friend of mine invited me here, and I like comedy clubs. The set up is different though. They have several comedians that peform, but their set is only like 5 minutes. Some where hilarious and some were not so funny. So, it's probably a good thing that their sets weren't as long. As for the seating area, they cramp you in there! I was playing musical chairs because I couldn't get comfortable. If you go hungry, do not expect anything great, the food was below average in my opinion. A friend of mine ordered queso, it was NASTY! Other than that, it's a cool spot to go to if you want to laugh. It's $14 to get in.

Several Friday's ago we celebrated a friend's birthday here. It was about $14 to get in. The Comedy Club is located inside the Double Tree Hotel. Come in and go to the right. There's a bar that you can order drinks from, but there are also waiters that you can order from once you are seated. They serve food too, although we had already eaten so I can not comment on what they had or if it was any good. I absolutely loved the mix of comedians. We probably saw about 10 that night. Some were funnier than others, obviously. Overall it was a good time and my face hurt from laughing so much.

Tucked away inside of the DoubleTree, right next to their bar, this is a nice little comedy club if you want to try something different. I've only been to improv in Addison, but I enjoyed my time here. Normally, the cost per person is $14. However, on Thursdays, they have open mic night, which is $7/person.One of my friends decided he would give stand-up comedy a try, so a group of us came here to watch him perform. The place is a little small, so there's not a bad seat in the house. Since it was open mic night, some of the performers were funny, and some were a miss, but overall, I thought the performers did well. My only criticism of the place would be the temperature. Since it's summer, I was dressed in a t-shirt and shorts, but inside the club, the place was freezing. I'm talking about below 60 degrees. I was told that they did not have much control over the temperature. Aside from the frigid atmosphere, I think this place is worth giving a shot. Just remember you may need to bring a jacket.

My boyfriend & I went to Backdoor Comedy on a Friday night. It takes a lot to make my boyfriend laugh but not so much for myself. However, I figured why not, also adding neither one of us is from Texas & wanted to experience something new. Backdoor is located in a very small conference room in a popular hotel. It is live stand up comedy for new comedians, therefore this place would be a hit & miss on good comedians. I think we saw about 8-10 comedians & maybe 4-5 of them were actually really funny. Would I visit Backdoor again? Yes! I would consider Backdoor a good date night option.

I have rlly personal exp w/ this place so this is gna b long…read more I was practically raised in this building. My first show here was at age 11, my last at 19. In that time I'd been in so many productions I have actually lost count. If this was a real workplace it would break numerous labor laws. To start acting here you NEED to come in with little self-respect and leave with none. Actors are expected to volunteer their money, clothes, pets, children and any sign of second thought is looked on as selfishness. There are contracts for the volunteer work here which do not exist for the protection of the laborer. I'm pretty sure they're accessible from their website. You can read them yourself. You'd have to be really naive to think you weren't being taken advantage of. Dude who owns it; a man actually named Jamey J. Jameson. I spent my adolescence trying to know this man. The only conclusion I can come to is that at some point he got bitter and his heart died. He holds himself with such disdain toward everything around him. ACT has a reputation for doing shows without licensing. This is because Jamey has made an enemy of nearly every prominent licensing company he's worked with. He has consistently refused to try to make amends because doing that would require admitting fault. He could fix this problem by being an adult and owning up to the person he's become but I know he'll never do that. This stubbornness is legitimately destroying his business. I'm embarrassed to have once considered him a mentor For a long time he would punish hyperactive KIDS in his KIDS productions by giving them 'the shirt'. Which was a punishment where Jamey's often unwashed sweaty t-shirt was pulled over a kid's head and they were held against his bare, stinking, damp, hairy torso. that's a deeply fucked up thing to do to children, man. At age 14, while I was still acting here, I developed an eating disorder. The adults around me spread the rumor that I had a sexually transmitted disease because I'm queer. Jamey would routinely mock me for having rapidly lost weight. I guess he thought it was like. Unmanly or something? Because there's nothing cooler than calling a child a fag (which he also did). Made him feel big and funny. I later learned he used my recovery as a story in a bid to receive funding from the city without my knowledge or consent. I wouldn't have allowed him to do that if he asked me. Pretty scummy thing to do, man. The summer of that year I had been volunteering as a counselor for the kid's theater camps and I was called ungrateful for taking a break to eat my lunch. Which considering the eating disorder thing that he clearly knew about. Dude??? I guess the work itself was the reward for the work. Many of the ppl in this building are known sex pests who are allowed to continue to work around their victims either because they supply funding to ACT, or out of desperation for actors who are naive enough to supply hours of unpaid, unsafe manual labor on the ever-instilled belief that they have no chance of acting in any other environment. As a child I felt unsafe. As an adult I felt degraded. I've seen this building ruin lives. Rend families apart. ACT likes to sell itself as a struggling haven for outcasts but it's not. It's a little dying hole in the wall where a sad little man's dead dreams poison everything around him. I loved this place. I made and lost some of the deepest friendships I think I'll ever have here. There's so much I learned about myself here, but I REFUSE to give the art centre theatre credit for that. That was me. This place drains people of every bit of passion they bring and claims credit for the things they achieve on their own. The effort and love of performers and directors is so brightly evident! It's what draws people In, makes the shows watchable. But performers are told that they are lesser for it. That nobody else will take them. That they're annoying and broken and that they deserve to work tirelessly and thanklessly to keep a man who hates them's dying business afloat. It's manipulative and considering that this place markets itself toward like. Kids and teens, it's evil. I hope you're reading this, Jamey. I hope one day someone gives you a wake-up call that actually works and you realize that the people around you are as real as you and that each of them goes through things just as miserable as the things you go through. Kindness is a choice you can make, and one that will reward you. That you are not stuck in your position because you are the victim of the world, but because people do not like you. And they dislike you not because of some unchangeable part of you, but because of how you've chosen to treat them. If you don't change you will die miserable. I'm only writing this in a public forum because I know you care so much about reputation and I think it actually might be the only way to reach you. Take it how you will but I'm finally done with this place

I used to love checking out the plays back in college. Mainly because they were free with my student ID but also because it's live. No editing, no takes, no do-overs.. everything is live. This particular play took it one step further. The seating arrangement was basically within breathing room of the actors and actresses all around the "stage". It's really just one room and everyone's on stage. Hard to explain. Check out the play if you can. I think it's playing entire month. So what makes this venue or experience 4 stars for me is this. After the play, they served refreshments (including wine) and the cast comes out to mingle and chat with the patrons. I didn't stay too long afterwards but I got to talk to one of the actors and he's just a regular Joe working on this in his precious spare time. Of all the plays I've been to, I've never experienced this before. Good venue. I will gladly continue supporting this theater. Quick note about the play itself. Very interesting. I'm not going to give much away as you can probably read synopsis of the play online anyway. But it might not be for all ages. I would say don't bring your kids which I noticed some patrons brought children. The actresses are a bit scantily clad but it's entirely appropriate to the theme of the play though. Update: Originally I gave it 5 stars. Since the review is for the theater room itself and not the play, I felt that I couldn't do the review justice if I didn't mention this part as it pertains to the theater itself. So I have bumped it down to 4 stars but obviously I still had a good experience despite my seating location. The seating matters. It's true that the stage is pretty much the room but there is a raised area of the stage that the actors and actresses will also use during the performance. If you sit too close to this area, then your view is blocked and cannot see what's going on up there. It's general admission so good thing is you can go early and grab a good seat but just be aware of the limitation I mentioned.
