We met a couple of friends in Lumberton NC, who drove up from Myrtle Beach. Of course Lumberton is the GOAT Michael Jordan's hometown. Adelio's held up solidly for a last minute luncheon table. We all ordered a wide range of offerings, some with a crisp salad others opted for the steak house fries. Server was slightly above average as she sauntered over to our table for beverage orders. Now the feel of the restaurant approaches light industrial, or perhaps a former vaulted bank lobby. Truth be known, we managed to overstay our welcome - had to unlock the front door as we exited this spot. They did hit a home run with their Italian sausage sub smothered in a rich tomato sauce with just a perfect touch of oregano & garlic. Would I return? Sure if driving through the GOAT's hometown again! read more

This is a great spot where the investment is in the good quality. Stopped for lunch and had many great options to choose from. It's easy to eat low carb here with many excellent protein choices. First of March, Took a party of 5 adults(two in wheel chairs) and a child for dinner. We have been here numerous times in the past. And, the owner knew this. They automatically added 20% gratuity and didn't show it on signature receipt but had a spot for "tip" any way. We had our hands full getting two in wheelchairs ready to go as well as the child. * No signs about this policy * Nothing on the menu about this policy. * No comment fro the waitress on this pilicy. * No comment when they picked up the check that it had a 20% tip ON TOP of their 20% gratuity on the other sheet. We stopped by the next afternoon on way to the funeral home but they not opened yet. Talked to Adelio the owner by phone from right outside. He said found it and he would fix and call back. He never did. He apparently pocketed it. To think this man treats his customers, especially repeat of years, like this is amazing he's still in business. He might as well taken the money right out of my pocket. Nothing more than a common thief We don't leave FIFTY PERCENT tips. Of over $80. Even 20% on the "gratuity" they added automatically. In fact, the service was horrible but we always tip 20%. We had to go back in the service atea to find someone to get us plates an utensils for bread delivered and left on the table. Turns out Adelio had been seated in front if the restaurant and ignored the service mess unfolding all night. It was not particularly busy as it was past 8pm We had an opportunity to go back 3 or 4 for times in the next 7 days while in town. WE DID NOT. But Outback got our business. I'm pretty sure Adelio's is not rhat busy during the week and they woukd have liked the business of 4 additional meals with parties of 6-9 each time. We're in town 2x a year and have always gone here at least once or twice. Now, the extended family abd friends all know this baloney he pulls.. Negative experiences travel fast. Shameful behavior of this owner cist him more than the $40 he stole. Surely the waitress dod get it,... What is a shame is that the food is usually wuite good. Just not the kids hamburger entry. It eas cold and nasty. Never again. But we will be VERY HAPPY to share our experience EACH TIME we visit the area and go to different restaurants with family and friends. We had dinner here last Saturday evening while in town to visit with family. It was a nice atmosphere, nice waitress and we got to meet the owner, Adelios. He was on site and we got to spend time talking to him. He was so nice! My sister and her husband too enjoyed meeting there for dinner while there were in town too from Virginia to see local relatives. From the outside there is not much to look at but inside is a cute little restaurant. The server we had was super nice and even the bus boy was nice. I tried the Alfredo. First of all, the hostess was friendly and attentive. Our server was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is beautiful. The food was excellent. The homemade Italian dressing was great. I have no complaints. I can't wait to come back. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. I can't say enough about the food and service. We eat out a lot. It is so nice to find a gem like this restaurant. Did I say the food and service was excellent.... I can't believe it is also affordable. Geez, I am thoroughly impressed. After readng all the reviews, we were excited to have a little Italian to celebrate my birthday! I ordered the 20 oz Adam Prime Rib med raw. This looked more like a slice of overcooked rubber. This piece of meat should have some fat in it, this did not, there was no way it was a prime rib. For the price I was so disappointed. I substituted the carbs for spinach, that was the only thing that was DELICIOUS! The sauce on the eggplant parm was WAAAY to sweet and the bloomin onion knock off batter was too much- I don't know if thick or lack of flavor... not sure but but not worth it. read more

This is a nice restaurant where you don't expect one. We happened upon the place passing through a couple of years ago, and were very pleasantly surprised...and it became a destination for us on our way to Florida. Adelio is a NYC transplant who somehow landed in Lumberton, much to Lumberton's benefit. Ok, this isn't a fancy place. It's in a converted mill building and likely no restaurant designer or styler was involved. It's informal, with seemingly no curated wine list. But their house wines are ok and pair with this food. And you come here for good (mostly southern) Italian food. They do steak here, but on both of our visits, it was their Italian, and we're glad we did. Pasta tasted freshly made, and al dente. Their red sauce was wonderfully balanced...with the right amount of mellow (not bitter) hint of garlic, not overly sweet...again balance comes to mind. We did a one week cooking school in Umbria a few years ago, and are mostly disappointed with Italian restaurants in the US., so it's not common for us to be this pleased. We'll be back, and this place is a reason for us to choose Lumberton as a stopover on our road trip. read more

We attended a class reunion at Adelio's recently. The food presentation looked beautiful however it was cold and disappointing. When we made the staff aware of the issues at hand they were extremely rude to several of us. We had to ask for drink refills repeatedly. When you work in customer service, your attitude and the way you treat your customers should be top priority. The staff at Adelio's are disrespectful, tactless, & racist. We went on a Saturday evening. Had an early reservation for 4. Seated right away. Nice building and mood. For reference, we ordered fried zucchini appetizer, waters to drink and 1 glass of wine. Entrees: Chicken Francese w/penne pasta, teriyaki shrimp/veggies/rice, shrimp linguine and the rib eye steak. Food, overall was ok. Not bad, but nothing wowza. The problem was the service. Our waitress said she'd been sick and was in recovery mode, so I give her some grace. But holy smokes! Took forever to get salads. Then 2 forevers for our entrees. Had to chase down the glass of wine, and then the checks. I want to give this a higher review and give grace to the server. But boy, it was a long night! Let me tell you about Adelio's restaurant in LUMBERTON North Carolina I can be not so nice when it comes to these reviews, I really say it like it is. We started off with shrimp bruschetta that was totally out of this world delicious!! For my main course I had the veal piccata which was also Outstanding!! Colleen had the chicken masala which was also a delightful 10 out of 10! This is the best place you could possibly eat in Lumberton NC They open at 5 PM. If we could eat there every night we most certainly would. The wait staff are very prompt and courteous,just the type of people you want to surround yourself with for a wonderful experience Next time we go I want to try the lobster, I can only imagine how delicious it would be, but the veal piccata is so Epic that I just can't decide Pass the word- Adelio's is a must read more

Don't know how the food was. About five minutes after we were seated, we ordered drinks. They came in about five minutes. So far so good, however the waitress said she would be back shortly to take our order. She said that three more times over the next 20 minutes. We watched a couple and a table of three get seated and served before she came back and said she would be with us shortly. I said never mind, just bring the check for the drinks. Offered an apology and several excuses. We were just spending the night in Lumberton so we were probably not going back anyway. Good evening from downtown Lumberton, NC. I took the Yelp recommendation to try Adelio's. I wasn't disappointed. The menu contained a good selection of choices. I chose to start with a glass of Chianti. Then onto the soup...French Onion which was good but could have been a bit more richer in taste...a bit more onion flavor. But I consumed the whole bowl. Next was a side salad with the homemade Italian dressing. Very good! Added some parmesan cheese which topped it off. And just the right size. For my entrée I had the veal parmigiano with a side of spaghetti with marinara sauce. This was very good. Ate it all. I recommend this for the veal lovers which I am one. No dessert for me this evening just finishing off my glass of wine. Wait staff and hostess were superb. Excellent attention to the customers. What a WONDERFUL restaurant! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!! We found this place accidentally as we were staying in Lumberton for the night. We started off with the calamari. It was by far the best we have ever tasted and it's our favorite appetizer to order when we go out. It was light and flavorful and the portion was huge! The salads were fresh and flavorful. I ordered the chicken Marsala and my husband ordered the chicken parmigiana. Both entrees were wonderful and there was enough for another meal to eat when we get back home. The owner came by each table and chatted with the diners. He checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Our waitress was great and served everything in a timely manner. My only regret is that we live in Florida and won't be back until we travel north again! read more

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place before! It's worth veering off the highway and heading into the downtown! It's a great building. Very classy and gives you the feel of a big city restaurant in terms of ambience, but small Southern town hospitality. They make much of their food from scratch and I have yet to eat anything that was not delicious! They are known for their Marsala, which is quite good, but their steaks are phenomenal! The peppercorn sauce is awesome and made the already flavorful steak amazing! The bread, the salad and the sides are first rate. I had the mousse, which the waitress warned me looks weird, but is very good, and sure enough she was right! And I would absolutely order it again! There pasta dishes are excellent, too. I will miss my work trips to the area because of the nice people and this restaurant! Lumberton has a few good spots, but this is one of the two best for sure!
