Adelitas is a very good place to eat. I have been several times and have not been disappointed. It is located in the old Godfathers near the NE side WalMart. I love their salsa and chips. In addition, they have the best hard taco shells; I think they fry them. Prior to Adelitas opening, I would typically drive to Iowa City for El Ranchero. Their lunch specials are very reasonable and the #5 is a ton of food for the money. The quesadilla has a truckload of cheese. I recommend highly and plan to return myself regularly. read more

Lunch fajitas at a super price, and the staff are fast and friendly. A little bit of a drive for me, considering the mass number of Mexican restaurants in the area, but one of our favorites. Portions are very reasonable, and staff is attentive to our table. I have noticed that during downtimes, the service tends to fall off a bit. But most times, it is busy, and the food always comes out in timely manner. I think that this restaurant is owned by the people who also run Villa's Patio in Marion, and LaCamelia's. Yum! BEST queso AND salsa that I've had in CR! Queso is just a tad spicy, which is really nice and different than any others I've had in town. Salsa had just a touch of sweet to it. Ordered just an enchilada and soft taco Ala carte. Both were very tasty. I sat at the bar since I was by myself. While I was there, a gentleman came up and asked for the Pepsi he had ordered and not received and then two girls came to pay their bill that they had never received as well - hence the 4 and not 5 stars. I always enjoy eating here. The food is not standard Mexican-American fare. I don't usually like the rice served in such places, but here it is delicious, full of garlic. The mole sauce is very good, mildly spicy and not too sweet. The cheese sauce for dipping is rich and flavorful. Try something with cactus in it! I've never been disappointed with the food, but the service varies. Usually the staff are friendly and prompt, but occasionally we get one who seems to resent our presence. However, I recommend eating here and I will continue to do so. Four stars plus! read more

We usually go there for lunch. The past two visits have been horrible!!! Slow service, cold, soggy food. Today we had a fruit fly in an ice cube that was in a water glass. Needless to say none of us wanted to finish our drinks. We got our food just in time to leave as we had to go back to work so had to ask for a to go container. It took three attempts to get our bill (just a minute, just a minute). When i was putting my chicken chimi in the carry out container I noticed it was VERY soggy and very cold so apparently our food sat for a while before it was brought out. I normally tip 20 to 25%. Not today. The worst service EVER! We will NOT go back!! read more

I ate dinner here last night with my father. We recently moved across town to the area two months ago and are still exploring the restaurants and what's available. It was busy, but we only had to wait about five minutes, which I thought was very good for a Friday night. The menu was great: several options and it was more than the same ol' combination dishes at most Mexican restaurants. I ordered the Traditional Chimichangas and my father ordered the Enchiladas Marinas. We both loved our meals; they were hot, delicious, and very filling--I was only able to eat one of the chimichangas and brought the other home. I will definitely return again to try the other menu items. I am only giving it 4/5 stars because the entryway gets congested. The bar, waiting area, and hostess station is concentrated into such a small area; especially with servers coming and going, that small walkway was very busy. read more

If they had chunky salsa with cilantro I think I might bump it up to 5 stars. Otherwise this is the best and most interesting Mexican food I've had in Cedar Rapids. Clean, attractive and friendly atmosphere. I can't remember the name but I had Shrimp in chipotle cream sauce - yum! Our well travelled friend just had to try the oysters on the half shell. She said that while they were not your typical ones, they were very good. They were topped with sort of a Pico de Gallo with chopped shrimp. Even though I don't normally eat raw oysters, I tried a couple and I think I may be hooked. There are many interesting dishes to try on the menu. For this reason we'll be back and next time we're going to try the Ceviche. read more

I ate at the Cedar Rapids Adelitas Restaurant on 4/19/14. I was with a group of 11 people, 9 of us sat at a large table and two more people in a near by booth. We had no problem with the food or the service, both were fine. But out of the 11 people that attended, 6 of us were sick with a bronchitis type illness by Monday. The majority of us have been to the Dr at least once and some like myself have been there twice. I believe that someone employed at Adlitias has not been doing the appropriate hand washing and other steps necessary to avoid this happening. Maybe someone should have taken a sick day, not someone I saw, but I am assuming in the kitchen area. I don't think I will be going back, as I wonder what else I could be exposed to. read more

Have visited Adelitas on several occasions and it is sometimes good and sometimes not so good. Disappointed in the shrimp and crabmeat enchiladas since they should be advertised as crabmeat enchiladas. There was no shrimp. Servers don't speak much English so it is difficult to communicate with them. Have had lunch there a few times and it is a good place to go if you are in a hurry since food comes out quickly. GREAT food, GREAT staff, and reasonable prices. They have a punch card for lunches AND margaritas (yes, margaritas). I go in for lunch sometimes, and I'm always able to get in and out in a half hour. Since moving to Cedar Rapids from California I have been looking for good mexican restaurant. Food stands and trucks in California have better mexican food than every restaurant I have been to here, until I found Adelitas. Great food, good size portions, very good service. Most Mexican restaurants don't offer healthy alternatives; Adelita's ceviche is absolutely delicious! Lots of shrimp with tasty tomato, crisp cucumber, fresh avocado and a light citrusy sauce. So much healthy food for the price. I always take some home. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Adelita's traditional Mexican dishes, too. Try the Poncho Via wrap with crispy potato wedges for brunch on the weekend, one wrap is enough for two people! The Tacos Pastor was a new taste treat for me, but order early as this is soooo good they sometimes run out. If you like heat (and I do) ask for the amazing "hot" salsa to take your chips/food up a notch. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, fair prices, and plenty of food. read more

The boyfriend and I ate there last Saturday night (11-16-13) at about 10 PM. When the waitress seated us next to a very large group, I thought about asking her if we could sit elsewhere. I wish I had. We ordered the molcajete. It was very greasy and had no flavor. We shared it and were only given 3 tortillas. I asked for more and when the waitress returned she bluntly said, "There are no more tortillas." No apology or any other words of regret. All I could say was, "Nice." and I pushed my plate away. A few minutes later she did appear with 3 more tortillas and just plopped them on the table without a word. We were nearly finished with our meal when the large group next to us became loud especially the two young children. Apparently the grandpa decided this was the time and place to wrestle with the children so they would produce ear drum shattering screams. Then I watched the boy put his face on a plate and start eating like a dog. The children then started using the tables and chairs like jungle gym and chase each other around and scream some more. By this time we had enough. The meal was lousy, the service was sullen, and I had no intention of sticking around to enjoy a second beer with unruly brats screaming in my ears. This is my favorite for Mexican food, I have never had a bad meal here. The wait staff pays attention and gets drink refills quickly. The complimentary chips and salsa are good, and the heat of the salsa depend on the jalapenos in it. read more
