Seattle has its fair share of Ethiopian restaurants, and I've tried quite a few. But, this place is by far the best. I had the veggie combo. The only dish that wasn't super delicious was the Kik Alicha (yellow split peas). But, 5 out of 6 is not bad! I especially liked the Gomen (collard greens). I ordered the Adey Meat Combo from Adey Abeba Ethiopian Restaurant via UberEats while visiting Seattle, and wow--I'm so glad I did! The combo came with a beautiful spread of veggies--cabbage, greens, split peas, lentils, and beets--along with the beef wat I selected as my meat. Everything was packed with flavor, perfectly spiced, and the portion size was just right. The presentation was thoughtful even through delivery, which is not always the case with takeout. One of the best parts? They offer gluten-free injera! That made the whole experience even better. The price itself was very fair for the amount of food you get, but like most delivery apps, the UberEats fees made the total much higher than expected. Still, the quality and flavor made it worth it. I'd love to visit Adey in person to get the full experience and ambiance when I'm here again! I had a great dinner at Adey Abeba! Out of all the Ethiopian restaurants in the CD, this one has been my favorite. The meat combo was perfect to split with two people. It came with around three meat dishes and five veggie dishes, which provided a lot of variety. The waitress was very kind and the food came out quickly and was very hot. We made a reservation at a nearby "popular" restaurant, but were offered outdoor seating (it's March and it's40 degrees) - ummm no thank you. I have been so excited to try Ethiopian food in Seattle and this restaurant far exceeded any expectations I had. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with great service and it wasn't too busy. The restaurant smelled so good too and it has a very homey cozy vibe. We ordered the veggie platter and it was more than enough for 3 people. It has a wide variety of dishes to eat with the injira. While I've never had any of them before but all I know is the flavors were wonderful and spicy. I especially liked the lentils in the middle of the platter. I loved trying out this new cuisine and this was a great experience for my first time. We also got the Ethiopian coffee and my friends who are coffee connoisseurs loved it and said it had rich, dark flavors. Also, the price of $20 split among 3 for one platter is the BEST deal I've seen in this city and I can't wait to bring back more friends to this gem. I can't gush enough about this place. It's a cozy, locally owned Ethiopian spot in Central District. Incredible flavors, massive portions, great price, extremely kind staff. The Meat Combo ($22) - each component was absolutely delicious. A conglomeration of 12 different components (meat- based (chicken, lamb, beef), lentil based, vegetable based, and an amazing cheese). Overall the food was food and you get to sample different dishes that come in the plate. I'm an Ethiopian food fan and have had more than my fair share. I was excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews. I ordered the meat combo but requested the doro wat (chicken leg) in place of one of the beef dishes. This combo comes with all the veggie sides, cheese and salad. The plate that came out was huge and beautiful with enough food for at least two people. Sadly, however, the food was quite tasteless and lacking in seasoning or even just salt. The only saving grace was the doro wat which was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I combined that saw sauce with the other dishes to make them edible but I'm not sure that's enough to justify a second visit. Delicious Ethiopian food, good portions. I love supporting small businesses but only come if you have at least 3 hours to dine. The wait takes forever and the host is not experienced to run the restaurant efficiently even when it's only at half capacity. Poor dining experience. It took 30 minutes just to order the food, and another 45 minutes wait to get it. Folks that came in after us got to order and eat before us. Another couple left after they got their food (we assume it was cause they got fed up with how inefficient the restaurant was running). If they simply hire an experienced host (or get training to improve the service) who is able to observe the entire restaurant and run it efficiently, this restaurant will be able to provide customers a 5 star experience. The plate came out in about 10-15 minutes. The portion is huge, so it somewhat justifies the high price. The highlight was the green bean dish, which is rarely the highlight at Ethiopian cuisines for me. The gomen and misir wot were both average, and everything else was decent as well. 3.5/5 for quality. Service is fine, nothing special. But after peeling it off, I was able to find the goodies (: I always get the veggie combo because it comes with so many options and it's a huge portion so you can save some for the next day. SPECTACULAR! Came here on a Wednesday night with a group of friends and there was plenty of seating. The inside is beautifully decorated and incredibly inviting. We ordered the Meat Combo and Veggie Combo with Lamb Tibs on the side. It was PLENTY for the four of us and we had leftovers. The injera is absolute PERFECTION. It's sour, it's soft, and it's the perfect scooping consistency. We also ordered the Ethiopian coffee and it was plenty for the four of us to each have two cups. We had the baklava to go and it was the perfect dessert. I can't recommend this place more - the atmosphere is welcoming and the food is beyond. Adey Abeba is a small-ish corner Seattle Ethiopian restaurant with excellent prices, large servings and is simply put--delicious. The decor is simple and service is a bit slow (often expected esp with one busy waiter running all the tables) but I'd recommend against turning around as it's worth the wait. As an FYI to those unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine, all food is meant to be shared, injera (the spongy bread underneath the main servings that is also supplied to each diner) is meant to be the "vehicle/plate" for your mains, and your hands as your utensils. I don't claim to know the accurate way to eat this wonderful food, but hope this helps a bit. The eats for 7 folks (realistically can be 8-9 folks): 1. 2 servings of the meat platter - mix of veggies/salad, beef tibs (cubes of beef), beef wat (beef stew), lamb alecha (marinated lamb), crumbly cheese. *best bang for your buck 2. Lamb tibs - well seasoned and soft 3. Doro wat - spicy-ish chicken with a hard boiled egg. One of my favorites. 4. Tea - milk plus tea. Can add in the sugar if desired. 5. Ethiopian coffee - super strong and a bit bitter. Excellent finish. The damage? $25 per person with tip and tax. Unheard of for 7.
