I went to the Amsterdam location a couple weeks ago for a squeaky serpentine belt. They got me right in the same day. Also I got an oil change and engine air filter. Well.. 3 days later while driving, my car lost all powering steering and battery. the pully was either bad when the belt was put on or was damaged during repair. Either way, this cost me hundreds of more dollars and days without my car. Also with the oil change they told me my car had "not a drop of oil" how it was moving is beyond me. I wasn't even at 3 months since the last change. They also told me I needed a more expensive oil change as well. Section 375 (12-a) of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law does not allow a windshield or front side windows that are dark. Dont take your car hear cant tighten bolts even in important parts like power control arms

The Gloversville location is always great. I go there regularly for maintenance, tire swaps, inspections, and brakes. Oil changes and small jobs are first come, first serve, so be ready to wait if there are a lot of cars or people in the waiting room. Other services like tires and brakes are by appointment only. If there are only 2-3 people ahead of you, you'll be in and out in 30-40 minutes. I've even been done in under 15 minutes when it's slow. I recommend going in the early afternoon, mid-week, or arriving 15 minutes before they open since the line can get long. Matt is always great and honest. I've gone in a few times thinking I knew what the problem was, only to find out I was wrong, and the fix was simple. They could have easily upsold me, but they didn't, and I really appreciate that. I'm sad to see some of these reviews as I've never had a single issue. I probably go 5-6 times a year since I started driving in 2017. They must be reviews of the Amsterdam one but I've never been so I cant speak to it. read more

Quick service, friendly staff. They didn't change the air filter because one of the was stuck but they did point that out and topped off the air in my tires and checked all the fluids. Had me in and out in a half hour or so. read more

I've come to this place for years. They were always very nice, however, I asked for the Amsterdam shop to replace my engine air filter. They instead broke the entire housing of it and then tried to seal it up with electrical tape. The pipe that brings air to the engine was somehow ripped off from the air filter box. I'm not sure why they thought tape would last. The clips shutting the "lid" were also broken and would not be placed down to how they originally were. I'm extremely disappointed. I was never told of it being broke and drove on a broken air filter housing for about a week. I talked to the owner today once I saw the tape and broken clips and he told me that they were meant to tell me of what they did, but the worker at the desk "forgot to relay the information back" to me. I don't know for certain, but I think they were never going to tell me of what they did and tried to save face when they realized I caught it. I even talked to the mechanic right after they replaced my air filter and they never said a word of it being broken. People make mistakes, but the part that hurt the most was the dishonesty. If they couldn't figure out how to open up my engine air filter, I'm surprised they just didn't let me know to see someone else. What was supposed to be a quick, 20$ 10 minute air filter replacement has turned into a 200$+ repair with another shop. Again, extremely disappointed in a shop that I used to trust for years. EDIT: they're back at it again. My roommate took his car to get his brakes and callipers fixed and it said "key battery low" he goes into Sefcu and comes out and the car will not start. Calls AAA car won't even jump. It had to be towed home. He just wanted the breaks done??? Completely unrelated to his breaks. Why won't the car start? It's a daily driver. Always worked and the breaks start grinding. I didn't know that meant your transmission would also go bad or your battery would die entirely. Why are cars being totaled after people come in to get the breaks fixed?? NEVER EVER EVER BRING YOUR CAR HERE. Who is working for this place??? Seems like they're starving for money. pic for attention lmfao I brought my car here to get my breaks fixed after wearing them out and I had to change my breaks and calipers and that's fine. I wore them out and they were bad and they quoted me a decent price but then told me they wouldn't even touch my car if I didn't put new tires on it too because I had two really bad tires. That's fine. They were bad. So all in all I pay 799 for everything. S So after I get everything done and set I get my car back and my transmission is cracked?? How did that happen??? They blamed me for hitting something and told my parents that I had to have hit something. I stop for frogs, swerve around potholes, and slow down for bumps. I know that's hard to trust on just my word but why would I do that?? This car has been in my family since 2009, my mom bought it and drove me to school in it. Then she bought a new car and gave this one to me. It was a totally good car. I always wanted that car growing up because I thought it was very nice. How can my transmission CRACK??? My car would hold no fluids at allllllll!!!!!! After this one of the main mechanics offers to buy my car because he says he has other Honda Accords and he can use the parts of my car for them. And offers me 100 dollars less than I just paid to fix it. I said "can I have 100 more? At least. I was hoping for more but whatever" and he seemed super squeamish and says he'll get back to me. And we go back and fourth for like a week and a half of me calling and either someone telling me "he'll call you back at such and such a time" or with "ehhhh I'm trying to get more money" I'm still paying for my insurance cause I'm worried if I take they plates off they'll count it as abandoned. I guess that's my fault. And I call them today and I got another "he'll call you at 3" and I call them back at 4 and he says "hey I'm not interested" and hangs up on me. Like okay, asshole. If he was even a little kinder about it I wouldn't have made this review but I've lost so much money and I'm losing so much more waiting for some assholes who don't even give a fuck about their jobs seeing as when they asked my boyfriend about stickermule they were all talking about quitting and just going there because their hours suck and they don't like their job or whatever. I would even give them a one star rating. I had an appointment at 10 to get for tire mount, balanced and put on. It is 11:30 I asked the guy he said that they still need to put balance the tire and Moant one and still have not put them in it is ridiculous. I now have to call out of work because they are not going to be done in time. Glover ville NY 12078 is the location. I have seen at least 10 people go in and out of here since I've been here. Never coming here again I would not tell any one to come here even if I hated the with a passion. read more

I went to the Gloversville location for a NYS inspection and to have my snow tires put on my Pickup. I am a retired Certified NYS automotive technician. I have been to this Gloversville location on a few occasions and have had some issues with them before. Things like over inflation of my tires twice, trying to up sell me on filters that were recently replaced. Another time I asked them to check a bad clunking noise in my front suspension while having my oil changed and vehicle inspected. I was told they couldn't find anything wrong. Two days later I was to find out from the repair shop that I retired from in Manhattan both my upper control arms required replacement because the bushings were deteriorated which I promptly had repaired along with front and rear struts that I requested. My vehicle should have failed inspection for this. No more clunking! But this time was just unscrupulous. The technician reset my computer prior to performing the emission portion of the inspection causing it to fail for open monitors and fail me for what I was told was a little play in the right front wheel bearing. There is only a few ways for the computer to reset. A discharged battery, loose battery cable, a fault detected by the computer which will fail but not reset the computer or to manually reset with a scan tool. In order to ready the monitors you have to drive the vehicle until the are ready. When I got home I checked the monitors with my scan tool and they were ready for inspection again. I immediately checked and found no loose cables. Then I jacked up my vehicle and checked my wheel bearing to find it had minimal movement inside of a normal range. Had it been loose I could have easily tightened it in about 5 minutes because it is simply adjustable on this rear wheel drive vehicle. I downloaded the standard from the NYS DMV website, printed and highlighted the rule where it said reject a sticker for excessive wear in a list of suspension and steering components including bearings. I went back to the location presented this to the female service writer that I dealt with and even asked her to speak in private away from the other customers because like I stated I was in the industry for 46 years and didn't want to make a scene. I tried to give her the opportunity to correct the error or unscrupulous action as I see it. But she told me the manager is not there and not at the Amsterdam location so she can't do anything. I took my vehicle to another auto repair facility in which I have never been before and asked for an inspection. My vehicle was inspected 10 minutes later and passed with no issues. Stay away from this place they are unscrupulous and incompetent! I know the facility I retired from was a 10 bay facility in Manhattan with great reviews and I was the general manager. read more

My tire had a slow leak in it's I assumed it was the bead and needed to be sealed. I get there and tell them that but the kid working insisted I needed a new tire and he didn't want to seal it (to much work no doubt). They young female manager who "runs the store" she informed me said the tire was "probably" torn up on the inside because it had been driven on a flat (not true). I assured her that it wasn't and had not been but she wasn't even willing to try and drove my vehicle out of the shop. I've been a mechanic myself for over 35 years and I know the tire was torn up. I told her I wouldn't be back and I certainly wouldn't sent anyone there, her response? "Ok that's fine". I went to another garage immediately (John's on Fulton St.). The well educated mechanic there took one look at my tire and said "theres your leak, theres a nail in your tire". It took two minutes he plugged my "torn up" tire and I was on my way. The customer service at that place is non existent and the workers are completely ignorant to mechanical work and frankly lazy! The entire situation could have been avoided had he just looked at my tire! He saw what he thought was the issue and went no further. Didn't even consider what I wanted and didn't care what I wanted.
