We came in looking for a new laptop, and while the associate did ask if we needed help, the interaction went downhill from there. The laptop we were interested in was a sale item, and instead of respectfully helping us compare options, the associate made belittling comments. He insisted he would never buy an older model, since he only purchases newer ones. When I asked why manufacturers continue to produce and sell older models if they were not reliable, his response was dismissive--essentially saying that only the bigger, more expensive ones are worth buying. We always do our research before making a purchase. Sometimes you need the most powerful product, and other times a more affordable option works--especially if it comes with a warranty or trade-in program. The truth is, older models are still widely used and even bought back by the companies themselves. What ultimately made us walk away was not the product, but the poor customer service: the rudeness, the unwillingness to listen, and the pressure to spend more money based solely on his personal opinion. In today's economy, customers deserve respect, honesty, and guidance--not condescension. This experience left a very poor impression, and I strongly suggest more training for employees on professionalism, listening skills, and understanding customer needs.
