I've been coming here with my family for a few years now and it's always been a great experience. You need a military ID to enter since it's on the navy base just fyi. Probably one of the cheaper bowling options in San Diego. $5.25/per person/game or $25/hr. We came with a group of 10 and opted for 2 games each. This place has gone cashless so make sure to have your credit/debit cards ready. Parking: - Every time I've come here, parking has never been an issue. It wraps around the whole rec center so it's easy to find parking. Depending on what entrance you come from, it'll take you to either front or back parking lot. Service: - Not too many workers working. It's usually just the workers at the front counter, bar, and food bar. The food bar is currently under renovations so they only have hot and ready foods to go. The bar has some pretty cheap options for drinks. Since we came with a group of 10, we got 2 pitchers of beer for $46 which isn't too bad. Overall review: - If I still had an active military ID, I'd be here pretty often. Brought my Son and his friends to NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO at ADMIRAL RECREATION CENTER. We bowl at this place from time to time or at the Coronado Base. This Bowling center always has good prices with or without a daily special for the day. They were 6 players but they have a Special for 5 Players, so we just added extra payment for 1 person but still, it's a very good price. The Special package we had was : * $ 55.00 for 1 HOUR GAME for 5 BOWLERS and includes 5 SODAS and a LARGE PIZZA and their bowling shoes. BUT without PIZZA and SODAS prices are : * 4 .00 per game * 3.50 for bowling shoes We just added $4 extra for the extra person 'coz he already had his own bowling shoes . Then we just kept ordering more Pizzas and drinks when they needed more. Also in this place, half of their Facility had a lot of Billiards , Ping Pong Tables , Computers , Arcade , Bar and Food . This place is always clean , i guess they really have a good cleaners and the guy in the front desk i believe his name is AJ , doesnt smile a lot but he is super cool and very HELPFUL . My dad used to take me here all the time when I was younger & let me tell you- it has upgraded SO much since then! Prices: Very affordable! They have specials where one game, one hot dog, one drink, one shoe rental, is as cheap as $1.25 each! Lanes: 40 of them, with AUTOMATED BUMPERS! More about this later. Very clean, nice seating, sturdy ball return rack thing (I went to one place where the ball return rack was wobbly & looked like it was about to collapse), easy to find different size bowling balls. Upgrades (since I've last been here in about 5 or so years): Large, clear tv screens that show players full names, scores, cool animations, and even the speed of the bowling ball! They also have Lane Lotto where your lane might be chosen to win a prize, such as movie tickets! Also, large touch screen tablets to input player names; turn on/off automated bumpers; easily view scores of individual players; 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, etc. Very easy & convenient to use. Staff: Very friendly & helpful! A little boy in the next lane kept getting his bowling ball stuck in the gutter (and once in our lane), & a staff member came every time w/a smile on his face to retrieve it for him. No attitude like "ugh, make this kid stop." Very professional & friendly. Food: The little corner cafe in the bowling alley is PRETTY DANG GOOD. Cheap food, made fresh, not greasy. My family & I ordered burgers, fries, and wings. Burgers tasted like fresh barbecued burgers from a picnic in the park, fries were not greasy or soggy, buffalo wings (no buffalo sauce, just fried wings) were crispy on the outside, juicy & fall off the bone on the inside. This place has gone through a revamp. The screens are nicer and so are the consoles you control your game on. They have different bowling games and competitions to choose from. I like that it's not by hour, because if you're with a large group you can play an entire game no matter how long it takes. It was three of us and we paid for three games with shoes and it came out to $30. They have some tally cheap nights too, I think Monday is a big one. $1.25 per game per person I think? The shoes here are comfy and not too broken down. They have half sizes. If you forget socks, there is a vending machine where you can buy some and it comes with one free game for a person. Socks are $3.50, so either look at it as free socks or a free game. Socks are kinda silly though. They have bowling pins and a bowling ball. The guy working the desk was extremely nice and friendly. Wish the other people working here were that nice and willing to go out of their way to help the customers. When it came time to go home, we had five slices of left over pizza, I walked over to the kitchen area to ask someone for a container. No one was there, so I asked someone who I saw was wiping down the tables near the lanes. Instead of just walking over to get it herself, she sent me to someone else. Went over to the people at the bar (where she referred me) and then they gave me some other bullshit answer and referred me to someone else. I could have easily grabbed it myself, but I didn't feel comfortable going behind the registered and counter to grab it. Would've taken someone a minute to walk there and get it for me, but I just ended up getting it myself after five minutes of people redirecting me so they wouldn't have to do it themselves. Food here isn't bad. I loved the pizza -- sauce was flavorful and the crust was doughy (which is just the way I like it). If you have a military ID, or are able to get someone to bring you onto the base, this is way better than Tavern, Brunswick, or even Kearny Mesa Bowl or wherever. This alley constantly goes through improvements, whether it be for its lanes or the cafe, I notice significant business improvements every few months. For example, the cafe recently implemented those buzzers even though I never really had an issue with picking up my food or waiting for it, I realize how much easier it is to have that system going. I bought my own shoes from the pro store there because I started going there literally every weekend. I had a great time, more so because of the company rather than the actual place. We played some pool and then hung out at the bar while the game was going. The drinks are like juice! I mean seriously one strong drink can get me tipsy and three strong drinks can get me drunk... I had 5 drinks and barely felt a thing!!!! I will go ahead and admit it: I absolutely suck at bowling. My best score was only a 155. But I still enjoy it. Mainly due to the company that I am with rather than the game itself. I started bowling for the first time back in 2006 when I was at Meridian, Mississippi during my time at "A" school for the Navy. Since then, despite my mediocre scores, I've always enjoyed it. It really is a nice way to spend quality time with friends and family and just have fun. While bowling is the primary focus at this facility, they also have pool tables here, arcade games, a bingo hall, a bar to have some alcoholic drinks along with television sets, a pro shop, and a little food joint. There are lots of lanes but on Friday and Saturday nights it can be crowded. The food here is good, although it sucks that you can't have free refills with your drink. The mixed drinks at the bar are usually weak. Stick with beer. And there is a shop where you can purchase some of your outdoor goods as well as your personal bowling equipment. Not to mention they also have free wi-fi here as well. Nice place to spend a Friday or Saturday night. This is like the only place on base where you can drink so if you live on base that will spare you the risk of getting a DUI. I just wish they would have Cosmic bowling every night like they did at the bowling alley in Japan. read more

I love coming for Saturday night BINGO! I have been lucky a few times, not every time. $15 for the main packet, each of those 6 games have a $200 payout. (If you buy more than one packet for yourself, each packet after the first are only $5). Special games are $1 each with (I think) a 70% payout of what is bought. One of the special games is $2, but the payout is $750!!!! They do a drawing at the beginning for a free packet next time you come! There is a 'cocktail' waitress that will run and grab you food/drinks in the middle of games. This is the bowling alley on the 'dry side' of Naval Base San Diego that also functions as an arcade, a grill/cafe, and a sports bar. Reasons to go: 1) The prices are really good and the food is OK. 2) The place is convenient if you are living in the barracks nearby and do not have a ride. 3) Lots of bowling lanes even if it's crowded. 4) You have to have a military ID to get in through the base gate to get into the building. 5) There is a large auditorium room that can be reserved for command events. Reasons to avoid: 1) Like the good admiral said about the Yellow Sea, "It's full o' squids!" If you are the type of person to work next to your fellow Sailors but not be anywhere close to them in your free time, this is not the place to be. read more

My family and I love bowling here. Only people with a government if are allowed to bowl here so it's never crowded and the place is always clean! They have a new bowling system that is easy and fun to use. It takes picture of the players and turn them into fun animations for everyone to enjoy! They have little bumper leagues for kids for a cheap price. For a family of four to bowl for 2 hours we only pay 21$ that's cheap compared to other places! Go-to bowling alley located on Naval Base San Diego 32nd Street. They've upgraded the visual displays from the clunky old ones. The alley is only packed during bowling leagues and weekend. Monday's bowling price altered from $1.00 per game and pair of shoes to $1.25, not too much still a great value. Otherwise other days the price is $2.75 each if I'm not mistaken. Control desk staff is extremely friendly, especially Steve. Cafe food is good $1.25 soda and hot dogs on Monday as well. All in all great service. read more

The bowling is ok. There was a birthday party going on, and they put us in a lane right next to them, and they wouldn't switch us after asking them, before we even started our game. When asked for the bowling ramp for my 4 year old. We waited about ten minutes, and I had to ask twice for it, they forgot I asked for it. We ordered pizza there, the cashier told me it would take about 15 minutes, I waited over an hour for it. I asked about every ten minutes or so if it was done, and she kept "blowing" me off saying, it's almost done. I was there with my wife, 1 and 4 year old. I could've ordered a pizza from dominos and had it delivered to my house quicker than that. Horrible customer service. I don't plan on ever going back there. read more

We enjoy coming here to the Admiral Robinson rec center as it is the largest bowling alley we have been to (40 lanes), has newly updated bowling systems with iPads which offer easy and fun customization to your lane, the red pin coupons (get a strike on a red pin and get a 2 games for 1 coupon), billiards tables, air hockey, and much more! A bunch of the bowling balls could use an update (lots of chips and gouges) which is common with most alleys. The employees are usually pretty friendly. read more
