The only way to travel from Cancun! The price is right and they are super reliable, affordable, and comfortable. I advise buying your ticket online when heading back to airport.

Inside the bus, lots of space and they played the movie arrival.

We bought tickets through their app ADO. then went to the depot waited 20 mins then took a bus to Valladolid. We went the day after hurricane Grace. The ride was a little bumpy but that's because of the hurricane and many trees, road signs, power lines were knocked down. But the driver did well for what the situation and took time to not rush and make it a rough ride. I think it should also be known that the more Spanish you know the better and to try to be nice. I have seen a lot of posts on here where there would be less issues if people follow what I suggest you will have a much easier time.

Ado is super efficient and 190 MXN from Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen. No wifi to speak of, like other posters have pointed out, but they do advertise it. A great experience, I don't know why you'd go another way to PDC unless your resort comes to get you. You buy your ticket in the Cancun airport at the Red ADO kiosk as you are about to leave the terminal. It's after baggage claim and after the famed shark tank walk through the time share sales people. Once outside walk all the way to the very right, far out to where the charterbl busses pull in and out.

Ticket is for specified day and not bound to a specific travel time.

Awful. I bought my tickets online and when I arrived at the airport, they said my ticket was for the wrong time so I couldn't use it. Mind you, my ticket SPECIFICALLY said that it wasn't bound to a time, just to the day. I showed them that it said that and they still wouldn't let me on. Even if this isnt their policy, they could've honored what was clearly printed on my ticket. I was just standing at the counter trying to figure out what to do and they were helping everyone around me and not even attempting to assist. Finally, I said I would just buy new tickets and it wasn't until then that they tried to help by changing the time of my ticket. (By this time, multiple buses had come and gone and I was still stuck at the airport). They asked what time my returning ticket needed to be and I told them 8:40am. Fast forward to today, my returning trip..and they wouldn't let me on the bus because my ticket said PM and not AM. Granted, I should've caught this...but given that I specifically spoke to the woman at the airport about 8:40am, I didn't think to check it. Especially because I was rushing as to not miss ANOTHER bus. The guy at the station was extremely rude about my ticket being for PM and not AM and how I needed to get a new ticket if I wanted to get on the bus. Normally I would've, but his attitude was enough for me to just walk outside and hail a cab.

Love ADO buses. Why pay an expensive taxi ride from the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen when you can go by bus? As I was exiting the Cancun airport I stopped by the ADO (Autobuses de Oriente) counter to buy a PDC ticket. It was around $10 and the bus was leaving in five minutes. The bus is comfortable and air conditioned. The price to return to Cancun from PDC is the same. You can either leave from the Quinta Avenida or the Downtown station. It doesn't matter as buses pick up passengers at both stations with about a 10-minute interval. I bought the return ticket when I arrived at the station and there were plenty of seats; however, if you don't want to take chances, go to Ado's website to check schedules and to see how many seats remain. You can buy your ticket online.

The ticket taker at Cancun wouldn't let me buy a ticket with credit card but proceeded to offer the machine to everyone White and Hispanice after me. The ticket taker at PDC wouldn't service me in line. As soon as I got out of the line, she came back to her window. Also saw a bus driver being rude to another Black couple. They clearly do not want the service of Black individuals so if you are, then its best to find another bus service.

We then headed to a different location to switch vans (for some reason). The first van ride was a terrible experience. The driver was absolutely awful at driving--and was paying no mind to the fact that it was heavily raining. He was flying over speed bumps and going around corners at dangerous speeds, especially since the conditions were so poor. Everyone in the van seemed very worried about his reckless driving throughout the ride. When we got to the next van, the roof was leaking all over our shoulders and clothing, which then collected in a puddle on the floor of the van. It also looked like it had been in some sort of front collision. The ride to Coba was awful, however the tour guide was fairly interactive which somewhat made up for the terrible van. The ruins were great, I only wish that we got to learn more about them from the tour guide. It felt like we mostly just biked around the whole time and occasionally hopped off to look at a ruin. We then went to the cenote, which was nice, and then lunch, which was fine. Afterward, we went to switch vans AGAIN (for some reason). This one, thankfully, was not leaking, though its windshield was nearly shattered. We made it back to the hotel fine, but are very disappointed with the tour overall.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the half day trip and would recommend it to anyone. Limbert was a very knowledgeable guide and told us a lot about the history of Mexico on the drive down. Both were quite close to Playa Del Carmen/ Playacar so the longest drive was around thirty minutes. I got some great photos and at the end of the trip we were sent a Google Drive of the photos that Limbert had taken.
