This restaurant was recommended to me by a local Silverton resident, but I was disappointed with the food. The restaurant is large and very attractive, but I found the food pretty lackluster. Not very spicy. There was more of a black pepper flavor in my enchiladas than chile pepper. The waitress was very impatient by special dietary requests from my dining partners to the point of rudeness. Unlikely to return. read more

It could be really fantastic, but could use a solid paint job and scrub down cleaning with some TLC. +++Located in a quiet mountain town, this is honestly one of the most reasonable places you can stay in this touristy area. But it's a hostel located inside a mexican restaurant, and let me tell you, you will crave some chips and salsa. Everything smells like mexican food, which I love, but not in my bedroom. Bathrooms are shared with the restaurant... I don't know who would find it more odd, the tourist showering in the restaurant bathroom, or the restaurant guest? We showered after 9pm to avoid that, but it's something to keep in mind. +++Nice outdoor seating area, picnic table on the patio can be used by guests, but no ice and overall very dirty. I took the comforter off the bed immediately, and there are cob webs and dust everywhere. For a little over $65 a night for a two bedroom (bunk bed style beds) it was ok, but definitely not great. I won't be back here, but if you are looking for a cheap place and aren't too picky this place will be fine for you! read more

We stopped in a few nights ago and had dinner. The setting was gorgeous and after reading the Yelp reviews we were excited about our dinner. The Great: + The corn casserole was amazing. The A-OK: o The cheese enchilada was nice, but the rojo sauce was pretty sedate. o Salsa. I really wanted to like this salsa, but it was quite watery and didn't pack the punch I was hoping for. Very fresh though, which was nice. o A mix of corn and wheat fried tortilla chips made for a greasy foil to the watery salsa. Good flavor, but they packed a caloric punch that just wasn't worth it (to me). o The refried beans had a great texture but were a bit bland. The Poor: - The chile relleno was pretty disappointing. It was extremely small and was dominated by the flavor of the deep fried shell/dough wrapper. - The apathy of the server and bartender. They didn't seem to really care too much about what was going on. Overall I was pretty bummed out I didn't have a better experience. While still A-OK, I was really expecting more. Perhaps it was just an off night, and I'd give them another shot if I was in the area again. read more

I am not too picky on places but I most say I would not stay here again. It is in dire need of a paint job and new carpet and new beds. The bathroom which you share with the restaurant customers consisted of 2 sinks and a tiny fiberglass shower. Very loud - so is you like to go to sleep any time before 11:00 better have ear plugs. Close to a 5 star establishment, this local joint serves up some of the best chips and salsa I've had anywhere and we are definitely not even close to the border. By your second margarita you'll wish you had some fireworks to set off outside. Fan-freakin-tastic! The only thing that threw me off was you're obviously more of a dive then an upscale restaurant and all of your entrees were $16. That's quite a steep slope for the common man coming in probably expecting the menu to be somewhere in the range of $8-10. But good combo on the hostel and Mexican restaurant! Adios! Super fun place! We stayed at their "Inn". There's a few rooms in the back...nothing fancy, but clean rooms and dog friendly. OK the food: Great Mexican food--and I love Mexican food! Everything was homemade--the salsa, the chips (flour and corn). The beans and corn casserole were wonderful as well...made w/ love. Usually these types of sides at a dive Mexican joint are more filler than appetizing. Heck, even the side salad that my wife ordered was awesome...great dressing, cauliflower, seeds, etc. I chose the tostada that was full of beans, cheese, guac and lettuce. It was awesome. Now onto the entree: I got a combination w/a chile relleno and beef enchilada. The relleno was very crispy, but not too hard...and melted on the inside. The shredded beef was great and the sauces that topped them were wonderful. Much like a New Mexico style. Some have complained about the price. $16 might be a bit high, but there was SO much food. Each entree comes w/ chips/salsa (no extra charge), salad or tostada (both are big and tasty), and the main course w/ two sides (beans and corn). Highly recommended--and if you're traveling through--rooms are cheap too! ($65). read more

Went to Adobe Inn for dinner this evening. The service was very nice - from the hostess to the server to the person that brought out our food, everyone was was professional and polite. The food was great. I had the chimichanga - it was huge and filling. The tostada that came with it was amazing. The salsa was great - one of the best I've had. The atmosphere was great - I liked the look of the place, very southeastern US/Mexico styled. read more

Excellent! We went tonight and were very impressed. The salad was fantastic. I had the Suiza Enchilada for my entree. The sauce was outstanding! I tasted the verde sauce too. It was the best I have ever had. My husband had the beef and chicken enchilada and loved them. My kids had the burrito grande and beef enchiladas. Both were great. The guacamole was very fresh and tasted amazing. We also loved the chips! They make their own using flour tortillas and corn tortillas. The corn dish that comes with the entree was incredible and so unique. The flan was also amazing. The attention to fresh food and great flavors is very evident! Well done:) read more

We pulled up to check in at the Adobe Inn as we had a reservation. The place looks not much like it appears on their website. I expected a modern, clean property. This place is really cool. The people were really nice and our room was very clean and functional. The rooms are small and unique. There are only 3 guest rooms with shared bathrooms which is not for everyone I guess. While we didnt eat in the resturaunt it was busy with locals when we checked in which is a good sign. I think the price of the room was $66 which was about the cheapest I found in Ridgeway. The rooms are small and good for a couple but would be a little crowded with kids. I would absolutely stay here again. read more

Love this place! Have staid in the hostel many times going or coming from Grand Junction & Telluride. This time an old fried was visiting from Portland. We had met in T-ride in the early days of the ski area. On 7/7/19 we spent the day in T-ride visiting old friends and places. Had a reservation at the Adobe Inn so we would be ready for the wonderful margaritas and good food, and Orvis Hot Springs the next day. I had the tostado done VEGAN. Their house made wheat tortilla shells are the best EVER! Saw more old friends from Telluride. Doug, our waiter, is always great. He has been there about 20 years. read more

I cannot believe how far this restaurant has fallen. We have been dining here for about nine years and once said it was the best Mexican restaurant around. Not so anymore. This evening, the service was horrible. It took nearly 30 minutes before the server came to ask about a drink order. A table seated 10 minutes after us was served first. Entrees took another 30 minutes. The food was mediocre, for the most part. The exception was the spinach rellenos -- the spinach was old and rancid. The food was covered with huge globs of sour cream and strange tasting sauces. Taco salad was the only palatable dish at our table. read more

I love the suiza and corn tamale its a must. No the corn casserole I always crave it! The bar and margaritas are great and they have a couple tequilas. This place is at its best when its snowy outside and packed. But if you come on a slower day it shows its age.The ambience is great they collect Native American Art, but It needs a super spring cleaning and dusting. I love that the booths are built in adobe. The decor and space are always so fun. So really all that must be done is a good cleaning and price lowering and then its five star. We paid fifty for two with drinks and I think that is high, but at least the quality is consistent. This isn't authentic mexican its more southwestern so please remember that when you stop by. read more

The food is awesome! We had heard that the food was great and the service was a bit slow, however the service was great for us. Very attentive and personal. Food and drinks( margaritas are delicious) came out quick. So only 3 servers that work there, and they have been there for years. They run 3 no matter how busy. So if you come on a mellow night quick service, on a busy night it may take longer. Bear with them and the reward is worth the wait. For sure!!! read more

Got rained/hailed out of camping up at the blue lakes, and this place was more than we could have hoped for on such short notice. Cozy room for four at an unbeatable price (~$17/person) communal men's and women's bathrooms down the hall, and great food at the restaurant (at least from a non-spice lover's perspective), the home made chips and salsa were amazing, melt in your mouth good. read more

The chips here are great!! Also the Chile Rellones are different but very good, get the tostada instead of the salad. Yummy!

Browsing some of the reviews, I see comments about it not being the greatest Mexican food. I think this misses the point. It's Mexican food with added, nontraditional touches that more often than not work out very well. I have never been disappointed here and recommend it without hesitation (unless you're looking for a very inexpensive meal, and then this is not going to fit that bill). read more

What a great find in Ridgway. This restaurant is hidden down the street - but please, go find it! Great "adobe" "native" "authentic" atmosphere and food. The food was awesome! First, was the yummy salad and corn and flour tortilla chips. then these adorable tostada/mini taco salad shells with salad and then I had a spinach/Gorgonzola relleno dish, my guys had chicken suiza's and another chicken dish....suffice it to say - all of them were yummy. A delightful surprise to find in a small town, but if we lived there--it would be on our favorite weekly visit! Our server was possibly new, but was still great. read more

I called earlier that day and made a reservation for 6:30 that night. I was told it would not be a problem. When we arrived at 6:30 the hostess told us it would be at least a 10 minute wait. We sat down. Right after that another couple came in and said they had a reservation at 6:30. She found them a table right away. I confronted her about it. She said that having a reservation was not a guarantee. Really? I guess just for some. She continued to ignore us. After about 30 min I asked again. She said she thought we left even though we were sitting in plain sight of where she was working. She came over and tried to serve us on a bench. I told her we were not going to eat there and it was not okay she didn't find us a table. As we were walking out the door she made a demeaning comment to the other customers that we must think we are more important than anyone else. It was then my husband turned and yelled back in the window that that is what a reservation is for. Not that we thought we were more important. She needs to lose her job! We have been eating at the Adobe Inn for the last 15 years. We will not go back because of the way we were treated. read more

So wanted to love this place before walking thru the door. Had heard and read mostly good things about this place and having spent 15 yrs in AZ, i've been looking for good Mexican food in CO the last 4 years. Stopped in on a Saturday night. Saw a few open tables as I walked thru to use the restroom (smallest stall I've been in in years, couldn't even close the door without straddling the toilet) and yet many parties were awkwardly sitting in the waiting area, a living room of sorts, some eating. I sat down and all this furniture was uncomfortable, small and I felt like I was going to break it (6' 3" 215 lbs). One party was told (as their bill was provided) that they don't normally serve food in the waiting area, but they're an exception. Yet I saw at least one party of 4 on the other side of the room having at least appetizers, awkwardly/uncomfortably. The "bar" is in the waiting area and is about 5' long with 4 uncomfortable stools, tiny and uninviting. Studied the menu and was surprised that all plates were $16 or more, wow. When was finally seated, it was at a table for 2 squeezed in between 2 other tables for 2. The chair was so uncomfortable and small that I don't think I could have sat there for long, which ended up being the case as I couldn't even fit my legs under the table. When I pointed that out to the hostess a few minutes later, she said that this was the only table available. We got up and left. On the way out, was offered to sit/eat in the waiting area, not a chance. read more

Came on the recommendation of a friend. Both the resturant and the chef have a good reputation around the area. With your order you get a salad or a tostada as a starter. I chose the salad and it was yummy. It was a simple romaine salad with red cabbage, sunflower seeds, celery, and gorgonzola dressed with a nice citrus vinaigrette. Also I went for the Chipotle soup which was a tomato based with corn and onion and chili. The soup was delish, but (sadly) not too spicy. Very good but I had to add tapatio to mine to achieve the desired kick. No prob! By the time my entrée came I was full from the salad and soup and (complimentary) chips and salsa. I got chicken enchiladas one with Suiza sauce and one with green sauce. They were good, the sauces were great, but the star of the dish for me was the side of corn casserole. Sorry mom your corn casserole just doesn't hold a candle to this one. Even the refried beans were yum, spiced lightly with cumin and pepper and topped with cheese and salsa. For the price ($15 entrée $5 soup) I was very very happy and I will definitely go back. The atmosphere was nice d the staff all seemed super friendly. Every time we try this restaurant, there is no one to greet you at the door. Last night was no different. We have always ended up standing there waiting for someone to appear out of the kitchen area, which usually takes a few minutes. The bar room is lovely, and the atmosphere in this place is very cool, but that's all the positive I can say. The food is mediocre, and I witnessed the waitress and the bus boy have a slight altercation right in front of us. Our servers in the past have always had a slight "I don't really want to be here" edge to them. If I were the owners of this restaurant, I would insist the staff change their attitude. I would never allow a condescending argument between staff in front of patrons, and I would always make sure someone is at the door to greet customers. I would also invite someone in to help the taste of the food to improve in all areas. If the owners can change things, it would be an awesome place to eat and hang out at the bar. As it stands, we won't be trying The Adobe again. Sorry, but truth is to help others, not to hurt them, and I have to be honest. read more
