    Halo Halo
    Christ K.

I came here last minute last week because I was sick of American food in the area. Walked in and met with a manager lady (sorry I didn't get your name). Super humble and welcoming. I only bought a halo halo because I had to do a lot of traveling that day but man the food looked so authentic and amazing. Halo halo was off the chain and perfect for the humid weather. You can tell it was made with love . The lady said they had been open 2.5 years and the vibes inside make you feel at home. The next time I come through I'm gonna go all out!

There arent a lot of options in this part of Georgia for delicious filipino fare. We had bulalo which was perfection! Also lumpia for app, also perfection. Combine that with our kind host Rachel, and you feel like royalty. Long live Adobo Queens!!!

If you enjoy delicious Filipino food and kind, incredible service, you'll love Adobo Queens. The outside of the building is off putting but open the door and it's homey and welcoming. There are 4 - 4 tops and 3 - 2 top tables. The menu covers classic dishes and I picked Lechon Kawali, Beef Adobo and Lumpia. Each was excellent and flavorful. Now comes the cherry on top! I asked about a dish from a Filipino place in JAX Beach that closed. Big chunks of pork in coconut milk that was kind of spicy and I couldn't remember the veggies. It was crazy good. I described the dish to both ladies and they told me they would be happy to make it for me. It's called Bicol Express. Because that place has these peppers and coconut milk produced right there. They whipped up a version of the dish based on what they had and didn't even charge me! You NEED to go here and give them your business. I know I will! Thank you Adobo Queens - I'm very grateful!!!

So happy to have tried this on my recent visit to the area. The service was excellent and May was friendly and helpful. I tried the lumpia, pork skewers, adobo chicken, and pork sinagong. The lumpia was so flavorful and perfectly fried. Crispy outside with flavorful moist pork filling. I would come back just have these again. The pork skewers were great. Tender and delicious. The adobo chicken was a great flavor bomb! The pork sinagong was a delicious tangy soup filled with pork belly, eggplant, okra, and other veggies. It was some of the best soup I've ever had. I will definitely come back here if my travels bring me back to the area.

The only Filipino joint and Brunswick and they should be the only one because it was so delicious. The pork bbq was good and the sauce was very unique to the Filipino cuisine so it's a definite must try! And their halo halo desert was very good!!! It wasn't too sweet just the right amount and reminds you of the islands! Will definitely come back and try again.

Diamond in the rough. Small place. Good but limited menu options, which makes sense due to location so it makes sense. Friendly service. Had some of the Chicken/Pork Adobo, some of the skewers, lumpia, and a special, Lechon Kawali. Definitely get the Lechon if its available. Chicken and Pork are a different recipe/cut of meat than I'm used to so its user preference. Skewers are great, lumpia is great. They have specials written on a little white board on the counter along with boba drinks. When I was there, the white board also had bangsilog, tapsilog, and longsilog listed for brunch/lunch.

I have been coming to Brunswick since 2014 and I am so glad there are more Asian restaurants other than Chinese food. This is the first Filipino restaurant I've been anywhere around here. I know there's a lot of people from around the country that stay for months in Brunswick and if you're like me (from California), you can crave some diverse fare and this is the place to get it. Being Filipino and growing up and eating the food my mom used to cook, I can honestly tell you that Adobo Queens is legit! I've had the pork adobo, sisig, and lumpia and all were really good and hit the spot. There's so many more dishes I want to try, but my stomach can only hold so much. Adobo Queens is pretty new (at the time of this post) and I hope they are very successful. And if it's judged by the food... it will be highly successful. This is definitely a place that you'll want to get delicious Filipino food from when you're "visiting" Brunswick.

I am so happy I found this place! I placed my phone order and my order was ready when I got there. The ladies are so nice and friendly. I was most excited about the lumpia. And they were hot as they just took them out of the fryer.. the lumpia was flavorful and a crispy piece of heaven. We also got the bbq pork skewers...so yummy and tender. And the chicken pancit....just perfect. I highly recommend Adobo Queens! And I will be back!

I really wanted to like this place but it was mediocre at best. I could have gotten better at the frozen food section in a grocery store. They used popcorn shrimp in my pandit, the noodles were overcooked, and the lumpia was decent. I will say that the service was very friendly. If I had to go back I would order the lumpia only.

Perfect customer service at this small family owned and operated Filipino Restaurant. This spot was advertised on Yelp (Thank you!) because we are from Hawaii and use to eating Filipino cuisine. Although the memo is small, it has all the favorites (see picture). They also have your favorite Tea Boba drinks made with good ingredients, not just sugar. The inside is very clean and organize. They do have a Tv for karaoke and if you can beat the older woman in there, then have at it BUT she was spot on with her lyrics! Overall, great place to dine or pick up if you want your Filipino food fix while in a small country town of Brunswick Georgia.

The waitress was also very attentive and giving us recommmendations and check back on us all the time. She also brought me chili oil because we told her I like it spicy! Our waitress service was top notch, friendly, bubbly to the right amount! Food came out pretty quick. - the chicken skewer (inehaw) was great, it was the perfect appetizer for our whole meal. - The soup (sinigang) was the perfect amount of sour and not too sour and the portion of every dishes was so generous, we all shared everything! Great family space. - The bisktek tanalog was my least favorite, the garlic rice is a bit too mushy for me. - the kare kare was our favorite, perfect amount of peanut, perfect amount of tenderness and the meat melt in our mouth! - the escabeche flounder was crispy and pair perfectly with the chili oil . It was a bit on the sweeter side though. Over all, our experience is perfect, we loved almost everything we ordered and if we have a chance to come back to Georgia again, we would deff come here again.

Lumpia - start here! They have both a chicken and vegetable option. A crispy eggroll/springroll that is simple but packs so much flavor. Same with the Chicken Inasal and the Chicken Pancit! Great portion sizes and delicious food. Both will make you leave wanting more!

But that front sign atop the shop entrance and window seems in need of a little repair! It definitely qualifies to take a star off for seeming lack of maintenance! However, Cabalen, with it's shorter store opening hours, really doesn't require lighting on the exterior and the look of it totally fits in with the other business surrounding it on the small shop strip there near the entrance to the Navy Exchange/Commissary. Why does it get 5 stars? Well, I believe it's the best true filipino cuisine I've experienced here in JAX thus far (and I do admit I have more shops to try). Whenever I go by the shop, which a friend of mine adores, I would see what appeared to be a ragged old place whose food I'd be afraid to touch! Not the case! Cabalen's appearance on the inside is pretty classic ma and pa shop in appearance. But what gives the real story away is that filipinos fill this restaurant up at lunch time! Then I knew I was into something special. I have tried Cabalen's adobo a couple of times in the past without visiting the restaurant. This time I went in. The various meal offerings were fogged up behind the glass below the top of the counter. Made me wonder if I was about to get some of what we called "mystery meat" from my Navy days :D Well we chose ginisang ampalaya and pork menudo. Looking back, I thought their adobo was very good and would certainly eat it again anytime. But this ginsisang ampalaya was the best I've ever had in a filipino restaurant. And I've eaten in a good number of them between here, San Diego, and Hawaii. (I could add Guam too!). It was freshly made, seasoned perfectly, very green in color and perfect in texture while chewing. I'd go back just to get more of this! Then there is the pork menudo. This basically was a very well-rounded filipino stew. It was meaty, had some potato and greens in it. When one of my San Diego Yelper friends saw the picture of the menudo, she commented that she had never seen a menudo without a lot of gravy! Its heartiness surprised her! It was a great observation, and I'm still waiting to see Dulce R get her Elite badge after three years of recommending her for it during my San Diego days! All in all, I had honest resistance to visiting Cabalen Restaurant for at least a year. It was my loss! I'm happy now I have a go-to filipino cuisine outlet in which I can be confident I'll get a great meal from! I will say also that their service and courtesy is solid. It's popular and I believe the prices are a good value for what they give you. I look forward to visiting again! Recommend: VERY HIGH I'm sure most would consider Abstrackt Filipino Essense the best filipino restaurant in JAX and that would be fair. However, remember that Abstrackt's cuisine in general is a fusion of creating their own variations to traditional filipino dishes. I love them too! And it's fair to call AFE the best. But if you want some among the best of traditional filipino food - go to Cabalen.
