This park was formerly a soccer field, but was rededicated in 1997 to Father John Lennon, a Dominican reverend who grew up near the park and was an active community leader. Little kids enjoy the playground for 5-12 year-olds, paths to link features in the park, shade trees, and a rain garden. It is used by many as an urban park to relax and play some sports. I see many kids during school days using it as part of recess or just as a place to exercise and be active during the day.

The statue of Ambrose Burnside on a horse is a grand one and can't be missed; the park was named after this Civil War general and governor of Rhode Island. Fun fact: he was the first person to rock a side burn, hence the name Burnside. Both the fountain and statue were added to the park in the late 1800s and early 1900s. There were bus stops all around the park. Many people were enjoying it and walking through. Cons: I did notice that there were trash all over; some of the people using the park just trashes it. I am not sure why this was the case because I saw trash bins throughout the city. Otherwise, the park would be very beautiful, historic, and in the middle of a bustling city.

They have a nice selection of skateboards for sale and they also do local maintenance on them. Civil was created by Guido Silvestri and Rob Asselin in 2006. After many years of working in retail, the two founders imagined a store concept outside the realm of the traditional skate/snowboard/surf shop. The vision was realized in 2007 when the first Civil location opened in East Greenwich Rhode Island. Since then they added stores in Providence and Westerly Rhode Island.....this particular one is on Westminster St, Providence downtown. Their product mix at each one of their stores varies to suite the three distinct locations: in the city (Providence), on main street (EG), and by the beach (Westerly). Civil also has a private label collection and they have been honored to collaborate on projects with elite brands including Nike SB and SLVDR. They support local ripping skateboarders and snowboarders, including the notorious Yawgoons. Since they opened, Civil has been involved in the local skateboard and snowboard community by hosting and sponsoring contests, demos, park cleanups, video premiers, and other cultural events. The staff is young and very hip. Mostly guys in their 20s that love skateboarding, so they know their stuff when asked questions. There was good amount of shade when we were there, and plenty of benches for parents to sit while keeping an eye on the kids. The playground itself is clean, well-kept, and has equipment for both toddlers and older kids. On top of that, there's a basketball court right next to it, which is great for kids/parents who want to shoot some hoops. Parking is easy, and the area feels really family-friendly.

I celebrated my boyfriend birthday at the Graduate Hilton Hotel. We could hear the live music…read moreacross the street. We decided to check out the ice rink. The ice rink was packed with ice skaters enjoying the live DJ. I danced from the side. They also had food trucks and hot drinks for purchase.The day we left they had go- carts on the ice rink. I truly enjoyed watching the skaters. When your in Providence Rhode Island dress warm and enjoy the ice rink.

Play structures are fun for the little ones, plenty of things to climb, slide on and swing on. The parking lot is descent but on game nights I see this being filled and parking probably goes down the residents streets making it a tight drive. The play area doesn't get plowed in winter so its full of think ice making it an ice skating rink so be careful. It's also nested in a residential area so expect people outside mowing lawns, shoveling, smoking cigarettes etc. other then that the park and field is cute and a fun time anytime a year. Been twice this past summer and today playing on the swings with my little one. Enjoy!
