The park is the home of the North End-Wanskuck Little League. It is also used as a recess area for Esek Hopkins Middle School. A fitness area was added in 2019, making this a very active life, athletic focused park. We have come here to see friend's kids play ball and also just to walk around the green space.

A community garden also stands across the street from the playground. The Peace and Plenty is an all-ages park with events and activities for local kids, families and adults in the Elmwood area. I have been there many times, since it's a block away from the Rhode Island Free Clinic where I volunteer. So I have taken breaks and strolls around this park. It nice to see the children using the playground and people working in the community garden. Nice and peaceful, it's great for kids that have a place to play safely.

I also love that it has like that secured entrance. It has a little walkway where there's like one gate you secure it then you walk and then there's another gate. Definitely better for safety.

I have biked around the Summit area many times and I love seeing the little ones playing in this park. It is mostly used by the neighbors in the surrounding streets, but it can get busy at times during the school year. The Park was dedicated to beloved Community organizer and former Vice-president of the Summit Neighborhood Association, Kerry Kohring in 2018. At the center of the play area sits an ornamental tree surrounded by a wrap around bench and a little free library. There's a little community garden as well.

Music and mounds…read more Burr's Hill Park is a seven and a half acre park that sits right across from the town beach. A very pleasant place with nice views of the water but this park also holds a bit of a mystery. The park has baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and a bandshell where a summer concert series is held. Other events and gatherings are also frequently conducted at the park. It's also right next to the East Bay Bike Path so it's a convenient place to use the bathrooms or get some water while biking by. One of the things that first struck me when viewing the park are the strange mounds that rise up on the perimeter of the park. If you look closely it becomes obvious that these are not natural but created by people a long time ago. These enigmatic mounds are actually the remains of a Revolutionary Fort that was built here centuries ago and long forgotten. No signs or historical plaques are around to mark the site but it's still pretty cool. I couldn't find any signs of recent archaeological activity nor any reference to any digs that have been conducted in the park so who knows what treasures lurk below the surface. Burr's Hill is a nice place that serves many of the recreational and artistic needs of the people of Warren. Interesting to realize that several centuries ago the value and function of the park served a far more martial and less pleasant purpose.

It is a small neighborhood urban space with some shade and playground equipment. When I bike around that area I see many kids playing freely here, there are no fences, so it's an open space to come in and out....Some seniors are seen often chatting and relaxing on its benches as well....You can walk a few blocks and get something to snack on from the bakeries or restaurants nearby.

The statue of Ambrose Burnside on a horse is a grand one and can't be missed; the park was named after this Civil War general and governor of Rhode Island. Fun fact: he was the first person to rock a side burn, hence the name Burnside. Both the fountain and statue were added to the park in the late 1800s and early 1900s. There were bus stops all around the park. Many people were enjoying it and walking through. Cons: I did notice that there were trash all over; some of the people using the park just trashes it. I am not sure why this was the case because I saw trash bins throughout the city. Otherwise, the park would be very beautiful, historic, and in the middle of a bustling city.

Located in the Wanskuck Historic District of Providence's North End, this 25-acre park includes a…read moretree-lined grass field, walking trails through a wooded area, and paths surrounded by a beautiful stone wall. During anytime a day you can see many people walking and enjoying the park and many bringing their dogs so they have a place to run and play. The loop path for walking is a little over a half of a mile long, starting at the entrance gates and continuing through a large grassy area with many large old trees. The path turns to the right through the wooded area for a bit. The path then continues back into the field and towards the entrance gate. The path is paved for the most part but the pavement is not in good condition so it's not the best part for strollers or wheelchair users. Wanskuck House sits on this property and is currently the home to Providence's artist-in-residence program. The land of Wanskuck Park was donated to the city of Providence in 1948 by the widow of Senator Jesse Metcalf. The land was part of their estate and informally became known as Metcalf Park. A 25-acre park, it includes an open grass field, walking trails through woods, and paths surrounded by a nice stone wall.
