I would rate this service zero or negative star if I could. The customer service is horrendous. My dad called twice and waited for hours on hold. When he finally got a hold of a live person, the minute he said he wanted to cancel they hung on him. Twice they did this! I then chatted with Eddie D. online and he said he could not help and for me to call. I had explained how the call was handled and that is why I was chatting online. I asked to stop the billing and he said he could not and for me to call on Monday. As I am typing this I have been on hold for 45minutes. Oh and you cannot cancel service online either. After 45mins of hold, I spoke to someone with zero energy, gave her my address, informed her I wanted to cancel. She said I called the right department and placed me on hold. Not only did I cancel, but the new owners of my prior residence signed up with them in the meantime. So now they are getting paid from the new owners and billing me every month also. I have made many phone calls to there wonderful customer service department, puke. They do not have clue what they are doing!!!!!!! Every time I call they state they will take care of it and get my account closed and make notes about our conversation. When i call back days or weeks later there are no notes on my account. Had ADT for 8 plus years. Called and cancelled in March 2021 when we were forced to move because of the February 2021 freeze in Texas and they are just canceling our service now the end of August with no explanation. They are quick to get new customers but do not act upon cancellations. read more

I had ADT installed in late December 2020. I told them I needed security for my garage. I was told no problem. When the technician came he put up 2 cameras that was supposed to cover the building and a motion detector. the detector came on when no one was there. Police also showed up. The price I was quoted on the phone was not the same as he said all in all I ended up paying $450. And still have no service. My husband said-forget this! It was easier to cancel service where the charged US 900.00 for their incompetence!!!! I am truly disappointed in the lack of customer service this company showed us when we called to protect our home and provide my family a sense of security. Defenders is a company that is an authorized provider of ADT services. ADT should really rethink their association with this company. They represent the ADT name. Sadly, they are soiling the ADT name. What you need to know are the red flags that have come to my attention when dealing with this company. They refuse to give their last names. They also refuse to give you the phone numbers of the associate that represent the company. They also do not stand behind their work. It is troubling to know that they use ADT as an excuse to solve the problems that they create. If you want a service you have to call approximately 22 out of the 30 days about your camera not working properly, then ADT is for you. Very immature and irresponsible company! I was very shocked by how they handle customers' issues. I had an issue with my ADT account. I called ADT right away; every person who answered my phone said he/she could not handle and would transfer me to another department. Then another person picked the phone up and can't do it. They kept transferring my call and saying wait on line and then the call got disconnected. This happened like over ten times. I used just two days calling and solving the very simple issue with my account. Very unprofessional.. If i knew ADT was this unprofessional and did not handle issues well/promptly, i would never choose this company. Don't ever get ADT. Forgot to put a sensor on 1 of my windows. Called & was told they will come out at no charge to resolve. Tech comes out & says $129 then said he can do it for 1/2, but not for free. Called ADT & they kept transferring me from department to department. They finally told me that a third party installed my unit because that is what they use in my area. Third parties name is Defenders & the customer service was rude & told me that they can't give me anything for free. She told me that she had to speak to a manager, she put me on hold for 2 hours & then she disconnected the phone. No resolution, cancelling with an attorney. My alarm system went down more than a week ago, I called the support and they told me they be there Monday, he did not tell me it was Monday the 16th. This really unsatisfactory, for an Alarm system to be down to weeks. ADT brags that they are number 1. Why get an alarm that is no good, no support. Worst worst worst security system. BUYER BEWARE. I've had this for over a year and stuck in a 3 year contract for 65.00 a month. I never use it. It is absolutley useless. I bought the RING security camera afterwards that costs 3.00 a month for online storage. They installed a camera and we never used it and it kept going offline and they wouldn't notify me about that so I asked for it to get it removed and the said they would. Had ADT for 8 years in Chicago -- they were at the 4.5 level; stopped using them in 2017 because I moved. Moved to Indiana this summer in 2022, and all I can say is, they sold out and totally commercialized themselves, and have become WAY more about the monthly fee (their annuity cash-flow stream) and add-on features through, as ever, their tiresome phone app, than actual service or keeping the client safe. It's IMPOSSIBLE to get a live person on the phone for service, installation questions or issues without a 30+ minute hold, while, in a guaranteed-to-drive-you-nuts move, their moronic marketing department forces you to listen to the even more moronic Property Brothers from HGTV fame (who aren't even American, give me a break) yammer on and on and on about how great ADT is -- sure it is -- for THEM. They're getting PAID to hype the brand. I, on the other hand, am NOT getting paid to LISTEN to their trite drivel, and would rather have muzak or the old 15-seconds phone beeps, than the verbal diarrhea of the property twins, every time I have to call. They also texted me about 6 or 7 times to reconfirm, yet again, their darned appointment (worse than the dentist), and brought the wrong equipment. I had hugely stressed to the sale person that I did NOT, DID NOT want a keypad that connected to the internet in any way, including via their phone app (per my brother in law enforcement), so of course, that's exactly what they brought. Turns out, they don't sell a true, plain ol' door keypad that doesn't have a "smart" (as if) chip in it -- could have saved me massive aggravation, text-responding, and time, if they'd just been honest upfront. Their quality had sunk to about 1.5 stars, and when the contract is up, I will NOT be renewing. read more

Don't trust them. They will tell you one thing and do something else. I signed a 2 year contract, they changed their set price half way though the contract. I called twice to check on my end of contract date, got 2 different answers both times I called. When I called to cancel my contract, then and only then did they want to negotiate better terms moving forward. They had no interest in negotiating anything until I told them I was cancelling. On top of that you can't just cancel once your contract is up, they need a 30 day notice. That's correct, contract is over, they still need a 30 day notice after that. So, an update on my experience. I have called the corporate customer support, the local area office, customer loyalty center, the account management office out in aurora CO and so far time wasted on the phone with customer support and on hold and no one's able to do anything. I even informed everyone that the terms in which I signed up under is not true and in the end I am stuck with dealing with the consequences. This day and age any company that says whatever it takes to get customers to sign up and not live up to their words should not be in business. Again, I really wish I read reviews and never signed up. Stay away from ADT, they don't care about their customers, I had disconnect my service after 12 YEARS with ADT due to a life event and ADT would not waive a early termination fee of $934.88 because I had just signed a new contract for a outside camera, I offered to pay for the camera but was told no, and was told I must pay the $934.88 in order to end my contract with them. I ask did my 12 years with them mean anything. Their reply was we are sorry there is no exceptions. I was told this by Three individuals. Again there are better companies out there. I had ADT installed the end of April 2021 and my door bell camera does work at all. Called ADT to get someone out to look at it and 2 days of calling into customer service I was told I would not be able to get a technician to my home until the middle of August. After being a client for numerous years - ADT and I negotiated a new system and contract. The contract included the installation of new equipment. The equipment was never installed however my monthly invoice amount changed. After many calls and trying to get this system upgraded - I finally decided to switch providers. They charged close to a thousand dollars for equipment that was never installed or delivered to my home. It took me a year to get the bill reversed. They also never notified me I would need to pay for the following months service upon cancellation - even though they were in breach of their contract with not providing the services they were supposed to. ADT told me that the replacement batteries would be free/included in my plan as they were difficult batteries to track down locally. ADT would randomly mail me batteries, and then would send an invoice for them, although we never would order said batteries. The only reason why I give ADT two stars is that their monitoring seemed okay. The customer service and billing was less to be desired and there were never any technicians available or close to my city that were able to repair any part of the system. read more

I had service with ADT in my New Orleans house and i moved to Houston recently when i called ADT to stop service at old house i was informed that i will have to pay about $240 for breaking the contract. I explained that i am moving out of town and should charge me for remainder of the months. ADT iinformed me that they can waive the charge if i let them installed ADT equipment in my new house i explained that the builder has already installed the equipment. They do nothing to help you once your customer they would rather let you go and have a brand new customer and pay you $100 to be brand-new when my system was nine years old and not working right I was on the phone for over 2 weeks and a manager would not even return my call and lied and said that he would. Absolutely HORRIBLE to deal with. Dont waste your time with this company! They have no idea what they are doing. 50 different departments and none communicate with the other. They double bill you for no reason and then shut off your service leaving your home or business unprotected without any regard for your safety. I had ADT for 4 years. I decided I did not need the service any longer as my three dogs (German Shepherds) do a pretty good job at notifying me if someone is at the door and they are always home. I cancelled no problem however, I received 6 follow up calls asking me if I would reconsider staying at a lower rate. After the 6th call (I've told them no all 6 times), I finally told them to stop contacting me and the rep copped an attitude and hung up on me. Absolutely worst alarm company. They have installed in my shop 2 cameras and charged me for 6. Ever since, end of May, I have been fighting with them to get my refund back. Local supervisor already promised to me few times that this will be fixed immediately and I will get my refund, yet nothing has been done. On top of that every week I am getting a phone call from their collection department telling me that I have high balance past due, while actually not only I don't owe them anything, they need to pay me back for 4 cameras.
