I am so disappointed with ADT! After 30 years of being a customer through my home security system, they refuse to help me resolve my issue. I upgraded to be able to use an app on my phone to set our alarm as well as bought outdoor cameras and a door bell. (Over $600.00) When the tech came out, he could not figure out how to hook Up my old system to the new app. He talked us into a new system (another $165.00) I had to leave for a funeral while he was installing. When I returned home. I found a hole in my wall and paint exposed from the previous system being there. I have spent hours on the phone with them trying to get this fixed. Today a made 12 phone calls to them and nothing except for if I cancel they'll charge me a fee. Seriously, you never got it right to begin with! I am so mad and would never recommend wish anyone to go through this see pictures

Buyer beware of ADT long contracts!!!! ADT ropes you into long three year contracts and when your request to cancel because you have no need of using their service, they require you to buyout your contract for over $900 read more

I signed up with these crooks 2 years ago, the installer said it was a one year contract and pushed an iPad in front of me to sigh. I know, I should have read the small print. I called adt a year later and was told i signed a 24 month contact and if I didn't pay there'd sue me. So I waited another year. I called adt today and now they say my contact was 36 months. I told them to prove it and so far they can't. If they don't make it right I'll have to sue them. Don't go near these lying crooks read more

I wish I could give them a zero rating! They are the worst company to deal with ever!!!! They way overcharged me for my system (this according to one of their own regional managers) then have overcharged me for years for the monitoring. They force you into these contracts that go on for years so you are stuck. I can't get service on my system even though I pay an extra monthly fee to have all the components covered. I have on numerous occasions had to send them copies of my contract so they can see that the components are covered. Thank God there are now alternatives to ADT like Ring and Simplisafe!! As soon as I can get out of my contract I will never have anything to do with ADT again. Save yourselves much heartache and unnecessary expense and just avoid ADT completely. read more

Can I give less than one star? Seriously ADT. Cancelled my service 10 years ago, got a past due invoice from them 3years ago. Spoke with a representative that apologized and informed me that they actually owe me money. Two months later I start getting collection letters. Can't get a response from any emails. Decided to just pay it to get them off my back and they thanked me for my payment and then billed me again!!! read more

Moved to a home that previously had ADT set up so decided to cancel Guardian security and go with ADT. Worst decision ever. They couldn't get the contract right, ended up having to sign 3 contracts and pay 3 different contract fees! (I got my money back for the first 2 contracts but the out of pocket was costly) the first contract they made as commercial not residential I guess, I don't know what was wrong with the second contract. The first technician they sent out could not find my house, something about the address, then about it being marked as a commercial property, then the equipment listed was not correct so he ended up not doing anything. Second tech sent out was asking me if I knew where things were, considering I just moved in I'm sure I wasn't much of a help... During the time of our contract we had frequent issues with the cameras going offline at night and the few times we set off the fire alarm we got NO response from ADT, at least with Guardian they would call to see if we needed emergency services but nothing from ADT, I guess we need to pay extra for that. Then come the end of our contract. Apparently you need to call 30 days BEFORE the END of your contract to confirm cancelation otherwise they assume you want to continue and will just keep taking your money. Even if you call to verify your contract is ending and that you're good no money is due they'll say yeah then proceed to take money from your account. Suggest canceling all you're cards, maybe going off the grid until you can be sure they can't find you or steal your money. Recommend avoiding ADT! read more

At about 8:30am on 12/21/19, I had ADT come to my home to learn more about their security system and share equipment and plan options. I previously met with other security company's as I was shopping around. Upon arrival, Bryan was helpful and shared info about packages and equipment. He then mentioned that his "Pulse system" was down so unfortunately, he couldn't demo the system with me unless he proceeded to install it (Red Flag Number 1). I told him that I was still shopping around and was a bit uncomfortable proceeding, but he insured me that the install wouldn't take long, and we didn't like it, everything would be undone- no questions asked. Throughout the installation process, Bryan seemed to have a very hard time with the equipment and was constantly running into problems. He mentioned that he did not have all equipment needed to install and would have to call a coworker in the area to bring him some equipment needed. Even after obtaining more equipment, he and his trainee did not leave my home until a little after 7:00pm, with promises to come back and finish the job at a later date. I will also note that Bryan's trainee was great and seemed to be more knowledgeable than he. At that time, my wife and I were preparing for a holiday party so in the midst of him needing my assistance for different problems he would run into, I was trying to help her prepare for our friends and family that were to come. As time kept passing, I had to leave my wife at home, while I grabbed some last-minute items for the party. Bryan asked me if my wife could sign the contract for the services. We were hesitant on signing the contract due to the conversation Bryan and I had originally (I just wanted to demo the system/see if it would meet our needs) and the job/install was still not completed. We wanted to ensure we had enough time (3days, per the 3 Day Cancellation Policy) to determine if ADT was a good fit for us. Bryan, promised us, that due to the installation not being complete, we would not have to worry about the 3-Day cancellation policy. He then provided his managers Chris name and said that he was aware and onboard. Bryan pleaded to us that he would not get paid on time if we did not sign the contract that day (Another Red Flag). We trusted Bryan, as he sounded confident in that the 3-Day Policy would not apply to us, since our installation was not complete. With it being around the Holiday's, and considering the fact that he spent the day at our house, I ultimately gave my wife the go-ahead to sign so that his pay wouldn't be affected. Things we needed for our job to be complete: 1. Sensors working properly on wall windows and doors (the system kept reading open window when the window was indeed closed, garage door sensor problems, sliding door sensor problems....) 2. Installation of cameras and functioning outdoor cameras (he couldn't get the cameras to feed) 3. Our home to be armed. 4. User access to the PulseApp Later that night, around 11:50pm (while our friends were over), I received a frantic call from Bryan stating that the system did not log properly. I told him that we had company and reminded him that it was almost midnight. He apologized and begged to come back, pleading that what he had to do wouldn't take long and that his pay depended on it. Again, feeling bad, I gave him the okay to come back. He arrived about 40mins later and was able to do what he needed (replace the backdoor sensor). However, what he also did was park directly in front of our neighbor's driveway, completely blocking them from entering/existing it. Our neighbor was very upset as they thought it was a member of our gathering that did it. I was extremely upset as well. I still have no clue why he parked there, especially since we live on an open street with plenty of parking AND he was just over my house a few hours ago. Bryan returned the following Monday to complete services rendered. He was only able to ensure our home was armed. We still did not have functioning cameras. He returned after Christmas to install the cameras and showed my wife how to use the app. As my wife and I were exploring through the apps and cameras, we discovered that ADT only records for 30 seconds once movement is detected and will not record again until 4 minutes has passed. This was horrifying for my wife and I as we would like the cameras to record consistently. If something were to happen to my wife after 30 seconds passed, we would have no record of it, unless the incident last for 4 WHOLE minutes! What led us to this discovery was after a neighbor that lived a few doors down from us was robbed at gun point- which is something that never happens in our neighborhood. I just knew our cameras picked up the car/info but was very sadly surprised to learn that my cameras captured absolutely nothing and were pretty much useless (after spending thousands on them). I asked Bryan about this and he advised that we could change the recording setting i read more

FOLLOW UP: I got in touch with a very helpful rep at ADT today who apologized profusely and said this should have and could have been handled immediately when I called and I should not have had to wait for a manager to expedite the refund and call me back, which never happened. It will still take 3 to 5 business days to receive my money back but they offered to reimburse me for any overdraft fees I may incur as a result. Please ADT, fix your system for your CA customers this is just not right! HORRIBLE experience with ADT - they are THIEVES! Called last month to cancel service as our 2 year contract was coming to an end this month and we decided to go with a different company that is cheaper, especially given ADT had recently mailed a notice that they were raising their monthly fee. The rep said I still had 1 year left in my contract and I told her no, I had my paperwork and it said 2 years. She apologized and said I was correct as California customers are limited to a 2 year contract versus 3 years in other states. She was nice and helpful and I was on the phone with her a long time. She placed me on hold a few times and explained that she was making notes everywhere she could and openly admitted she has seen many California customers get charged early termination because their contracts get mistakenly entered into the system as 3 years instead of 2 years and she made sure that wouldn't happen to us. Imagine my surprise when ADT auto debited 532 DOLLARS insread of the usual $49.99 two nights ago. I called them immediately and the man said he could do nothong and I'd have to call in the morning so I did. He did not not apologize or even care. I called in the morning and spoke with a rep who said they would have to redit my account in their system first which takes 3 to 5 days, and then put in for a reversal to my actual bank account which could take another week to go through. I told her this was unacceptable! I then asked to soeak with a manager and she put me on hold. Said manager was on anither call and would call me back before closing at 6pm. I said I would hold. She said I could not hold! This is when I got upset. I told the rep that I understood its not her fault, but did she realize the severity of the mistake they made! How am I supposed to buy groceries and pay bills, what will happen when checks I have out their bounce because tbey fleeced almost my entire checking account!? I told her nobody had apologized or is any kind of rush to fix anything and that Im calling the BBB and any other applicable organization as this is unacceptable. Only then did she tell me that the manager could possibly expedite the reversal in 24 hours but I needed to talk with her. I asked her why expediting it wouldn't be automatic protocol when it is THEIR mistake and why could she not expedite it!? She only said she couldn't and assured me a manager would call me back before closing. Its been about 36 hours. No phobe call, funds are still missing from my account. ADT I will be taking this as far as I can legally. There is NO EXCUSE! You could have called me back, alologized profusely abd started the refund process and although I would still be upset it happened I would have felt like you were a somewhat decent company. I am sorry I chose a new company for security but is tbis what you do? Unacceptable, I have never exoerienced anything like this. Apparently you do mot care about illegally taking $532 from someone's account. Don't know how that billing manager and representative can sleep at night. No concern or regard. read more

ADT is a terrible company. They are dishonest and deceptive. When the installer arrived I showed him two ADT offers I received in the mail. He called a manager named Jacob. I spoke to Jacob said I could use either of the two offers. I chose the one for $19.95/mo for the first year, then $36.99/mo in years 2 and 3 (3 year contract). When I got my bill, they were charging me $36.99/mo for all three years. I called ADT they said they know nothing about the $19.95/mo and would not honor that offer. Find someone else. There are a lot of do-it-yourself home security systems now. Hopefully they will put companies like ADT out of business. read more

I had a very bad experience with ADT, they deceive you along the way about how much equipment you need and how much it will eventually cost and you end up with a totally different number at the end. They are not professional and dishonest! and there is no END to the costs. After the equipment was installed , there was a hefty bill undisclosed to me prior , for the town's permit to install the system. I eventually got out of their contract by disputing it with the credit card company and chose Front Point security, a real decent company. read more

Do not use ADT!!! Worst customer service I have ever had! You can talk to three different people and get three completely different answers, and their policy seems to be the customer is always WRONG! I called in early December to have my services moved to a new address and had confirmed the cancellation for January 10th. Fast forward the end of January and the ADT did not set my cancellation date until Feb 2nd.... So I have now been charged for twice for the month of January, once for the old address we no longer occupy (AND HAD SCHEDULED THE MOVE WELL IN ADVANCE) and again for the new home. When I calmly explained this they told me I never called them, I called defenders (a separate "secret" company they use as a scape-goat when they don't want to fess up to a mistake. They told me multiple times that just by calling the ADT 800 number you may not be actually talking to ADT...it might be "Defenders". When I asked why that is not advertised, the response was...it was in really small letters...Ummm how do you inform me in small letters when I'm talking to you on the PHONE!!!!!!!!! Don't give this company a penny they are not here to support and protect their customers they are here to cheat lie and confuse their customers. I can't wait to get out of this 2-year contract! This company will never have my business in the future! I REALLY hope you call me for a customer satisfaction survey! read more

Do not use this company. I tried to cancel before but gave in to their high pressure sales. I cancelled again and they said it takes 30 days to cancel and they still charge you during that 30 days but don't monitor you anymore. Why am I paying for no service??? So a rep told me I was getting a refund and it would take 3-10 business days. It's been 4 business days past that so I called again. Now the refund has decreased and it's going to take another 30 days! Apparently, there are no notes from my previous call. I spoke to a manager who then told me there would be a 15 day hold and then the funds would be released into my bank account, and it sounded like even he was reading a script. I don't expect to see anything from them at all. Poor, inconsistent customer service. read more

The worst customer service and billing dept. in the industry. Buyer beware. This company will do its best to get over on you during the course of your relationship. With me, I bought its product and signed up for auto pay. Paid faithfully for seven years. Then, in June, I cancelled the contract, because I sold my home and moved on July 1. On July 17, I received a call from ADT advising that my alarm was going off. I advised that I cancelled over 1 month ago. They acknowledged the same and had no explanation why I was still in the system. Next, today, I received a bill for termination services.I called and asked why, and was told that it is the company policy to bill clients for 1 month after they cancel services. During the past seven years I have paid ADT over $16000. They have the nerve to bill me $50 for a termination fee. Next time, I will do business with a competitor. read more

My experience with ADT is just like so many others posted here. ADT installed the wrong video doorbell on my house because the technician apparently does not know the difference between a doorbell requiring AC volts or DC volts. I have 12 volts DC power supply at my doorbell and they installed a Pulse video doorbell that requires 16 volts AC even though the Pulse video doorbell states this product requires 9 to 24 volts. So my doorbell eventually died because I need 16 volts to keep it recharged and I only had 12.5 volts. I found this out when it did died and they sent the second technician out who informed me of this new information. I was provided a contract by ADT that had inaccurate information and they REFUSED to fix it and reissue an accurate contract. I have been trying to get my doorbell fixed for weeks and ADT has an uncanny way of transferring you from one department to another with each rep eventually stating " I am unable to address your concerns Mr. X I need to transfer you to this other department. On one occasion the department I was told to call they said they dont handle so they transferred me back to the Main Menu and I had to start the whole process over only to be told that last department I was talking to is in fact the department I need to talk to. And if you make the unwitting and unknowing mistake of NOT calling ADT but an ADT Authorized Dealer then that creates additional problems. There are differences apparently between ADT authorized dealers and ADT corporate and ADT has no problem bouncing you around. One of the worst experiences I have had with a company. STILL trying to resolve my issue as of this post. I should have read these reviews before I entertained the idea of going with ADT read more

ADT's billing practicies are reprehensible. I had ADT install a wireless mobile network based alarm system 3 years ago. I had no issues with the monitoring, that was fine, but after about a year my bill suddenly increased by several dollars per month. I didn't really notice for a couple of months because I have the monthly bill deducted from my account automatically. When I realized they had changed the amount I called them up to complain. They told me that I hadn't "opted out" of the price increase. I was seriously annoyed by this and after running me around through two or three customer support drones finally agreed to charge me less for a couple of months to make up for the additional charges and to then return the bill to the original contracted amount. Who the hell does business like this? I found the alarm more of an aggravation than anything else and stopped setting it around 18 months into the term. I really didn't want it anymore but I had signed a contract, so I let the thing ride for the full 3 years. Never missed a payment. 3 full years. A month before the contract was due to expire I called to cancel the service. They ran me around to a couple of people, in the interim making me listen to a long tedious spiel about how wonderful their service was, spouting statistics about crime in homes with alarms vs homes without alarms, yada, yada, yada until finally the other customer service person came on. When I told him what I wanted to do I was told that I should call back to cancel the following month when the contract expired. I was annoyed by this because I didn't want to forget to do it and get charged an extra month, but I believed what they told me, so I waited. I called again the following month and got the exact same run around. The first person I finally reached went through the routine, taking all the account information about my account and when I told him I wanted to cancel had to route me to another person. I went through the whole 10 minute routine again, listening to the same tedious spiel, until finally another person came on. I had to give them the same information all over again and go through the verify process all over again (don't these people know how to pass information about an account from one person to another?) only to have this person tell me that "company policy" was that a 30 day notice was required to cancel service. I knew then I was being jerked around. One rep says "call back in a month" and the other says "there's a thirty day notice required". I don't really like confrontations, and I don't like being rude to people, but this kind of dishonesty really grinds my gears. I told her I don't want to pay for another month, that their own customer service rep had told me to call back when I tried to cancel the month before. She told me that I had already been charged for the month and that would be the last charge. I said, okay, that's fine, I just don't want to have to pay for another month. But, of course, they charged me again at the beginning of the next month. I called again and went through the same - now infuriating - routine, explaining everything to the first person who finally answered, only to be passed along to another person after another aggravating 10 minutes of listening to the same insipid company propaganda. The customer service rep refused to take the charge off the account, giving me some horseshit about there being 9 monitoring centers and the cancellation having to work its way through them, as though they are sending someone around to all the call centers on horseback with a hand-written note saying to cease monitoring at this address. I'm in IT, I know BS about computers when I hear it. It's just so infuriating to have them steal another month after I faithfully honored the contract I signed, paying them for three full years for a service I really didn't use for half that time - buyer beware, right? But then to basically have their customer service reps outright lie to me to gouge me for another month. If you're thinking about dealing with these people, don't. Their service is NOT worth the cost. They are not honorable, their reps will lie, and if they can steal a few extra bucks from you, they will. Find someone else, maybe a local service or some other reputable company that doesn't rope you into contracts, or lie, or steal. Search the internet, better companies really do exist out there. read more

If I could give lower than a 1 star I would. Purchased me an alarm system, ended up moving after a year to a new house, the contract at this point was nearly over. Upon moving to the new house, they wrote it down as a new contract and signed me up for another three years. (I specifically requested to transfer my current contract over, and not resign). And of course, to cancel, I would need to pay out the remaining contract (IE 3 years of monthly fees). read more

I have been an ADT customer for about 4 or 5 years. In the past year they wanted me to upgrade my camera system because I bought through Protection 1 and they are not familiar with the system. The camera system was almost 5k. I have had close to 15 service calls half we no call no show or techs that don't do CCTV in the past 4 months. still not working. Today I had a service call on my Alarm system that has a lot of automation and color touch screens this was about 6k with full fire. The tech here was told to tell me to upgrade when I could hear the conversation and the Honeywell customer service person said you will have to take the SD cards and update the firm wear. This should take care of it. Why am I being told to update everything if there is a no cost solution? The tech said he does not do the updates. They have a tech that still works there that installed everything here and the refuse to send him to my house. When talking to him he says it is a simple fix. Why can I not get this tech to my house? So I am stuck here paying for 2 systems that do not work and there only solution is to upgrade. After spending 10k about 4 to 5 years ago. My parents have an ADT system that is 23 years old how can this one be out of date in 4 to 5 years. I also know a number of friends in other parts of the country that have the same system as me and have referred me here and there's are working fine?????? Something here does not add up.... read more

I dont even know were to start. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I will NEVER use this company EVER again. They can eat a bag of shit. First representative I contacted said I would get the equipment for free as long as I signed a three year contract. Said They would cover 8 doors/ windows. I said, no I would rather have all the windows and doors covered, think I will pass, and look into another company (wish I would of done that in hindsight). He tells me, ok we can cover every door and window if you sign for 3 years. I told him ok. My mistake was not having this in writing and not having the person I talked to name. Installer shows up. First thing he does is hook up key pad, then decides it is time to talk about the package. Only getting 8 windows/ doors protected he says. I told him about talking to the person who sent him stating I would get every door/ window protected. He tells me I have the best deal they give for what I ordered. At this point he already had the key pad hooked up, and I needed an alarm system since My neighbors were a bunch of crackheads and we have had problems in the neighborhood with thieving. I have a wife and daughter, so I told him to just hook up the rest. I work and dont have time for a bunch of BS. Fast forward about a month or so. One of the sensors quits working right. So I call and they tell me I have to call a separate company, that they sub contract the installation out. (Would of been nice to know this prior to install / contract signing). They proceed to tell me they can schedule someone to come out and look at it so I dont have to call other company. NO ONE showed up. So for over 3 years I have had to punch in BY PASS codes. about 2 years into it my garage door sensor took a shit. Called several times stating my disgust, and they acted like they didn't care. Wrote a review that they sent me, let them know I was NOT happy, and would be cancelling when my contract ended. Didn't hear from anyone. When contract ended, I called to cancel, and of coarse they are "CONCERNED" at this point and "CARE" about me as a customer. All I heard was blah blah blah at this point. So I cancel, and of coarse they charge my card again for following month. I call to see what is going on, they say they have a 30 day cancellation policy. Would be nice to know that in advance also. Just another way to SCREW you out of more $$$$$$$. I can almost GUARANTEE they will try and charge my card next month also. Will have to wait and see. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT waste your time with this company. Nothing but broken promises , failing equipment and a good bye screwing out of more money. I will always tell EVERYONE I associate with how HORRIBLE they are. read more

Oh how I wish I had read the previous Yelp reviews, before selecting ADT to install our home security system. Their marketing team must be superb, as their media ads and recommendations from neighbors are the reasons I selected ADT. I called and scheduled an appointment. The salesman, Nery Peralta, actually arrived significantly early on the date of the initial sales call. I was at work; he called me and asked whether I could meet him at my home two hours earlier than the scheduled time. I told him that wouldn't be possible, as I had meetings to attend and I was 45 minutes away. When I arrived home, he was waiting there in his vehicle. I guess I should be thankful that he showed up, right? The initial sales meeting went well. Nery was not an overpowering salesman, trying to sell things I didn't want or need. When I agreed to the ADT installation, he scheduled the installation for Friday, May 13, 2011, with a time frame of 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. I agreed and took the time off from work. On the Wednesday prior to the installation, ADT called to confirm the appointment and reiterated the statement on their contract that, "Customer agrees to give ADT 24 hours notice to reschedule the installation or incur a $50 charge." I stated that I understood that policy and would be present between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011. This was on a recorded call. Friday, May 13, 2011 arrived. I worked a couple of hours and made sure that I allowed enough time to be home promptly at 12:00 noon. I waited and waited until 3:40 p.m. and no ADT installers appeared. I finally called and the customer service representative offered to reschedule the installation. I told her that was not acceptable and she transferred me to a manager. The manager had the installer call me. The installer said that a lot of people had called in sick that day and it was doubtful that my installation would take place. I told him that was not my problem and that they need to keep the appointment or I will charge them for my time. He seemed unwilling or unable to rectify the situation, so I again called ADT and told them that if they did not send an installer out, I would bill them for my time. ADT had Nery call me back. He assured me that this was not their normal practice and said that he would try to get an installer out. A few hours later, Nery called to say that they would send two installers out. Again, I waited and waited. FINALLY, at 7:00 p.m. one installer came. He had a very negative attitude and stated that he didn't know whether he could install the system I had requested. The second installer arrived about 20 minutes later and together they were able to install the system. By the time they were completed, it was after 9:00 p.m. The installers said that they were out of ADT signage for my front yard and advised that I should call Nery. I called Nery two weeks ago and he stated that he would bring a sign the next day. I also told him about the entire incident and the inconvenience it had caused me and he said that he would speak to his manager and call me back. That did not happen either. In fact, at this writing, it has been 2 1/2 weeks and I have not heard word one from Nery. In fact, my good friend happened to be having an alarm system installed by ADT the following week, so I asked her to ask her installer for a yard sign. I don't think I should've had to do that, since the sign was supposed to be included with the package I purchased. I called ADT to rectify the situation. I had to repeat my story multiple times and was transferred to several different parties. ADT has done absolutely NOTHING! It's basically, once they have your money, they run! I was given the telephone number to a Robin, who supposedly manages the sales representatives. I have left voicemail messages for her, but my calls have not been returned. Instead, I have received multiple calls from customer services representatives, who put the problem back to square one - no resolution. I really wish that there was a way to assign no stars to this company. I was treated horribly and wasted nearly an entire day on the date of the installation. I am completely appalled that a company that invests so much money on advertising treats its customers this way. They should perhaps use their advertising funds to hire better customer service representatives or teach their current staff better customer service skills. I wish I had selected another home security company. After all that has transpired and the lack of customer support I have received from ADT, I do not even have much faith in their equipment. read more

We sold our home and cancelled our service in November 2019. We continued to receive bills for service despite several calls to cancel service. Each time we were told everything was taken care of but then get a new bill. After spending almost an hour on the phone with their relocation specialist, Don, we thought everything was in order. We then got a bill from a collection. When I called to follow up on the billing, I was connected with Virtuoso, Jesse Jr., who told me ADT was no longer on the line. Very disappointing experience. read more

I have been an ADT customer for 5 years. Saturday night my home was broken into and the alarm system failed to notify anyone of the occurrence. The burglar was able to rip the panel from the wall before it activated and the system did not recognize that there was a problem. The burglar was able to take as much time as he needed and took whatever he wanted. When I just spoke to ADT they told me that is just how the system works and there was nothing they could do. Why would they sell an alarm system that may not be any sort of protection at all (other than protecting the ADT executives from having to live in the same neighborhood as I do)? 5 years of monthly payments for this tough luck story?!?!? I will urge anyone and everyone to get this message out because our, if not even you or your, loved ones are not as safe as the salesman selling the system may tell you. Thank God my wife and daughter were not home at the time or who knows how this story would go read more

I have been with ADT for about 3 years. During that time i have had a few false alarms with smoke detector but no real issues that required the services of ADT. Their rates are very high for the minimal equipment that I have. Those false alarms have led to much harassment from ADT people and the system as a whole. Recently I had a smoke detector false alarm which has resulted in endless calls from ADT to reset the system. I have attempted to cancel the service and they keep calling me to ask me to up-sell me better service as if it wasn't expensive enough. Even after cancelling they continue to call me to reset the system which has been unplugged for a week. Several representatives called to send a tech over and install a new system. Suggestion is to get something with video, maybe like Ring. These guys are very unprofessional. read more

This company is a total scam. I was told that I could cancel within 6 months, which is a total lie. I have been fighting with them for months and months and months. They have refused to pull my activation call, they have refused to pull any of my calls. The Customer Service (on the phone) is absolutely the most horrible I have ever had to encounter when dealing with their third party installation company (The Defenders). They will hang up on you, they will be sarcastic and extremely rude, etc... I have asked for the corporate address so I can get an attorney involved and they have refused to provide this information. If there was one company that absolutely lies to consumers and takes advantage of them, this is that company. PLEASE do not get tied up with them. I will end up in court for probably years because of their lies and abuse. The biggest issue is that ADT will allow their vendors to lie and cheat their customers. TOTAL SCAM!!! read more

If there was a star or rating that meant "run for the hills" I would use it. This company is the worst. They are very good at responding for the first visit to collect money, but after that you will NEVER be able to get them and if you do, they will have you bouncing back and forth between corporate offices and local providers. Failed to show for installation, didn't respond to calls, were late the second time, installed the incorrect items and then failed to come back to fix it. We have made countless calls, sent letters and nothing worked. We were forced to take the loss, remove their items and pay for a second company to make the proper installation. We had to pay twice but it was worth it because BAY ALARM is the BEST. They took care of us and after hearing our story gave us a huge discount. Go BAY Alarm! DO NOT USE ADT! repeat DO NOT USE ADT read more

I work at a law firm where we receive at least 4 calls a day from ADT and every time we answer they hang up. I finally called the number back asking them to take us off their list as this was on the verge of harassment and the customer representative hung up on me. I called back and explained to the next rep I spoke with what happened and I simply want them to take our number off their list and STOP repeatedly calling our office day after day. She said our number did not come up in their list, which it clearly does or else we wouldn't be receiving 20 calls a week from them. I'm not sure what kind of "business" they're running, but to have customer representatives hang up on people is, at the least, inexcusable. read more

After purchasing our new home with an existing ADT system and getting our phone line activated we immediately got a cold call from ADT about getting our system hooked up. I was surprised to get a call considering our phone line was setup just four hours earlier. I immediately setup an appointment for a ADT rep to come to my home and discuss my options. The rep never showed up on the designated day and time, I ended up getting a phone call from a sales rep that he will be coming to my home. I told him he's about two days late but sure come on by, I should have realized that this was just the beginning of a very bad experience. The sales guy came out to my home and gave me the normal sales pitch on the service and monthly costs. I wanted to add additional sensors and he added it to the work order. I asked if I'd be able to have my alarm working that same evening or if I had to wait for the installer to come in and he said..."No problem I'll have your alarm working before I leave". I sign all the paperwork and he then begins to show me how to use my alarm and arms it. He then tries to disarm it using an special code which didn't appear to work. Note this is in the evening when my wife and kids are home and we are now trapped in my home with an armed ADT system. After fidgeting on his phone trying to look up different codes to disarm it he proceeds to tell me "we will have 30 seconds to disarm your alarm." He asks me where my plug and main junction box is which of course is in a place where it requires us to open a door that if opened will set off the alarm. We go to the area and he tries to disable my system but fails to realize the plug for the alarm is screwed into the outlet. By this time the 30 seconds has passed and I have a really loud alarm going off in my home with my children and wife covering their ears. About 12 minutes go by and this "genius" ADT salesmen finally disables the alarm. He apologizes and says to me "well I guess we'll let installer take care of this, hopefully the cops don't come" and he leaves with the signed installation contract and a ADT system with no power. My wife was pretty upset and I end up calling him after he left to cancel the contract I just signed. Luckily I had 7 days to terminate the contract, I ended up signing the termination letter then next day and sent it to the pleasanton office via USPS delivery confirmation. Looking back canceling my install was the best thing I could have done as I now see all the 1 star reviews of peoples experience with this office. I can truly say these guys aren't worth even 1 star, STAY AWAY!!!! If you ever get a cold call from ADT about getting an install and they are from the Pleasanton office...hang up and find yourself another dealer, there are better ones in the bay area. read more

Avoid this company! They will be great to get your system in, but forget it once you need any service. I booked an appt. 2 weeks ago and was given a 4(!) hour window (not even cable companies do this anymore!). Well, here I am after waiting 4 hours and my service guy isn't even on his way. AND I have spent at least 30 minutes on the phone trying to even find out if they're on their way!! And they were incredibly dismissive about me being frustrated about waiting around 4 hours. "We'll just schedule another appointment". REally? So I can waste another 4 hours of my life with no guarantee that you'll show up. And the icing on the cake? I just called the Pleasanton number asking for a manager, was put on hold for 5 minutes and then disconnected. When my contract is done I will be through with these guys. TERRIBLE customer service!!! read more

I still want to give them zero star if I can. Update: After weeks of frustration with the local office, we called the national service center to find out what was going on. One agent tried to forward my call back to the local office and I reached that familiar voice mail again. I called again another agent wanted to put me on hold so that I could talk to her supervisor but she managed to cut me off, not sure if she was intentional or not. I called again. One of the agents finally told us that according to their computer record, our contract has been cancelled. On one hand, we sighed with relief for the good riddance. On the other hand, we were mad that they canceled us without even notifying us. Since we have signed the contract, the confirmation and notification of the cancellation is very important to us. They just didn't bother to deal with us. I have read another review on Yelp that this company discriminates against minority. That accusation would explains my bad experience with them because I am Chinese. My advice is that if you disagree with white supremacy, you may get better experience elsewhere. Besides do you really want to put your own security in the hands of people who discriminates against you? AVOID THIS COMPANY! I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed we are with ADT/TYCO services. We have had them in our office for over 20 years, and now because we aren't on their "service plan" it costs hundreds of dollars to make simple fixes. Their battery stopped working, which created a situation in our office where the blasted thing just kept beeping and beeping. A couple of days later they came out and took 5 minutes to replace said battery - to the tune of almost $400!!!!! What's wrong with this picture??? Labor was almost $300 - they opened the box, put in the battery, wrote an invoice and left. The invoice took them longer, and it was already filled out! I certainly don't mind paying for valuable services, but this is simply taking advantage Avoid this company - find another company that actually wants to service your account. We're looking for a new service now - rather spend more to put in something new than work with this company. read more

This company is unethical! I used their alarm services at my business for many years. When I knew I was selling the business, I called them with one month's notice to inform them I was cancelling the service. I later received a confirmation letter of this fact. Two months later, I receive a BILL for the time after we closed. Upon calling them again today, I am ONLY NOW told that I have an AUTOMATIC RENEWAL every year THAT CANNOT BE CANCELED without a termination fee. This was never disclosed. I had to pay a fee of $100 to terminate. EXTORTION!!!! And why wasn't I told two months ago when I first called!!!! read more

Giving a zero to this company is way too much for them. They deserve a negative 5. I have never dealt with a business that has given me so much anxiety. The worst part is that I am supposed to trust you to guard my home. Unfortunately, I have to keep my contract and I am counting down the days to leave ADT. My family and I have been dealing with an issue since September of 2021. We are now in October of 2022. After 13 months of begging someone to come/look into a "misunderstanding", we finally got in touch with someone. But they also failed to keep up with updates. My mother became a customer in 2019. She then gifted me a year of services of adt for a year in September of 2021. After the year, she asked if I could get my own bill , separate bill from hers. The moron that took the call cancelled adt services on both my home and my mother's, then adt had the audacity to hand me a $4,000 bill, charged me about $1,000 to my bank account WITHOUT ANY NOTICE! I had to file a claim with my bank so I could get the funds back. Finally after that drama was resolved , because my bank got involved..... they told us we had to follow protocols to "reinstate" the alarm System on both houses (which we never cancelled), so I said "ok fine just please resume everything because we need our home secured". They wanted to charged us, I was furious so I fought back because why should we pay for reinstalling if we never cancelled..... they agreed and saw my point. I booked the appointments for my house and and my mother's. The moron of the technician that came to "reinstall" the system in my house left the panel with low battery even though we clearly asked him to check it out. He said "I don't know why it's doing that" and left it like that. Thanks so much for nothing. Then for my mother's "reinstall" they cancelled at the last minute. I missed a whole day of work on 10/15/2022 because "the technician called out sick ". So they rescheduled for today 10/22/2022. I confirmed via phone after they cancelled. They sent me a link and i also confirmed via the link for the new appointment. We got a call this morning also saying someone was going to come. I missed another Saturday at work today to wait. Then, since Iv been so traumatized for the lack of irresponsibility from all these adt employees that I called today at 1:09pm to re-confirm what had already been confirmed 3 times already. I was told "don't worry the technician will be there". And guess what NOBODY CAME. I called, and was told that "no one was coming because we never confirmed". The schedule coordinator "Amy" cancelled it because we "didn't confirm". And all the "technicians called out because they were sick" .... Today I dealt with the irresponsible following employees (not to mention the other morons of been dealing with in the past): Ade Crossdle - manager Amy - scheduling coordinator for the area who lied and had the audacity to say "nothing was confirmed" Technician - adean Cameron - called out Technician - Nicolas Rojas - called out All of you should be ashamed of yourselves for being so irresponsible with people's home. I really want to look into filing formal complaint because the amount of stress adt has caused me for 13 months, not to mention the 3 Saturdays I'm losing from work, is a nightmare. Today I had nervous breakdown from all the 13 months of stress of dealing with ADT. Potential customers, Please do yourself a favor and do NOT get adt, go elsewhere! These people do NOT care, and you can hear it in their voices. read more

DISHONEST and UNETHICAL!! NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!! Here is a summary of my (frustrating) experience with them. 1) I was calling to get information about their plans and I clearly told them not to run a credit check. But ADT/Defender ran my credit anyway. 2) I had a security assessment and walkthrough scheduled at my home on Saturday, 09/29/2018 and the security advisors show up 40 mins late. I was also told over the phone that it is a free assessment, and I won't be charged until I install their system. But they charged me $108.16 for installation on 09/22/2018, a week before the walk through. 3) During the security assessment, I was informed by the security advisor Ike, that my first month's dues will be waived, once I sign up. But I see on my credit card that I have been charged the first month's dues of $54.76, on 10/02/2018 4) During the security assessment, the technician removed the existing AT&T security system's control panel and put in the ADT panel to test it. But he did not put back the AT&T panel correctly, and the system did not work after that, adding to the inconvenience. Calling them to fix it did not work. 5) I was under the impression that I was dealing with ADT directly, but I was never made aware that I was in fact dealing with Protect your Home, a 3rdparty dealer for ADT. I was NOT made aware of that anytime during all the phone calls with the reps/in person security assessment, and I only found out when they send the contract documents for me to e-sign (which I did not sign by the way). 6) I was told over the phone that I would get $1900 worth of equipment free when I sign the contract, but the contract document only specified $1045 worth of equipment credit. The security advisor LIED to me that I only have about $80 worth of credit left, so I must pay for any additional equipment. 7) The customer service reps did not have a clear answer on whether the length of the contract was 2 years/3 years. I got different answers every time I asked them. 8) Signing up easy over the phone, breaking up super hard: Because of all the reasons above, I was upset and decided to cancel the contract (the equipment has not been installed yet btw). When I called to cancel the contract on 10/02/2018, and again on 10/03/2018, they tell me that they sent me an email explaining the cancelation process (I never received that email). Finally, after being transferred to multiple departments, they told me that I must 'fax' my cancelation request/mail it to their Indianapolis address (apparently, I cannot simply email them, they want to make the process as hard as possible for me - who uses fax these days?). I was also told that refunds can take up to 7-14 business days. I both fax and mail the cancelation request on 10/03/2018. 9) ADT personnel picked up the equipment on 10/08/2018. I call two days later, and this other rep says it takes up to 30 business days for me to get refund! 10) All the productive time I wasted during work hours trying to deal with their customer service reps on the phone. I am still waiting for my refund. read more

The reason for 1 star is because there is no zero or minus rating. I first contacted ADT because of all of the accolades that came up on the internet. But before they would even come to my home and provide a cost estimate they wanted my DOB and the last 4 of my SSN. They said it was because they needed to run a credit check on me. I hung up and went back to the Internet and decided to call Protect America who was rated as #2. The PA representative said that they only do DIY and if I needed a technician they would refer me to Brinks. They transferred my call to (what they identified as) Brinks. The alleged Brinks rep arranged to have his tech come to my house. The tech arrived in an unmarked vehicle and had no ID but he stated that he was from Brinks. He was at my house for 2-3 hours, most of it spent on the cell phone getting instructions on how to take over my previous system. He was unable to complete the job and left with the understanding that he would do the additional work the following week. He did not give an invoice nor did he ask me to sign anything. I saw no paperwork at all! 2 to 3 hours later I received a call from a company in Texas called Onit. The rep stated that they had sent the tech and that he did not work for Brinks but that he worked for Onit. I had no idea who Onit was! After considerable discussion it was revealed that Brinks subcontracted the work to Onit. The rep stated that she needed some information from me in order to run a credit check and write up a contract (3 year). She then asked for my DOB, the last 4 of my SSN and the "routing number" for my checking account and the number of my credit or debit card. I refused to provide the banking information and told her that 1) she did not need this information to write up a contract; 2) I have not yet seen an invoice; 3) they do not need to run a credit check for an ongoing service that will be paid in advance which can be stopped at any time that the bill is not paid; 4) I was not informed that they would make such demands before allowing their tech into my home. I told them that their tech can come and take back the single piece of equipment (a cell phone) that he added to my existing system. I told them that under no circumstances am I will to give them open access to my banking. The next day they did not call back to arrange for their tech to come. I contacted a local company (upon the advice of a building contractor) who came to my home for a free inspection and estimate. He said that the cell phone which their tech had installed should not have taken more than 30 minutes. I plan on having the local company remove the cell phone that Onit attached and hand it to their tech should he return. As it turns out ADT, Brinks and Protect America are all owned by Tyco International, a Swiss owned company. The Brinks name is used only for the reputation of the name itself. Onit is one of the companies that they have sold their name to. read more

GO WITH ANYTHING ELSE. RING, GERMAN SHEPPARD...ANYTHING! LETS GET A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT GOING NOW!!! EMAIL phserveralerts at g mail dot com if you have interest in a class action lawsuit. It is time for corporate accountability to some horrible business practices. The sole goal of ADT is to continue to scam customers, delay any sort of resolution, use scare tactics. Go with anything else. Ring, a German Sheppard. This is the worst company on the planet. I had service installed on Jan 14th, it is now Feburary 22nd, and service was out 3 times to attempt to fix faulty cameras. I finally had them take them away on the fourth trip. Now they say they won't refund the $400 camera they took with them. In a month I have spend 4 hours 18 minutes (mostly on hold) to try and rectify the issue. Now on the phone with them and of course the ONLY PERSON in the WHOLE ADT company I can talk to in order to get a $400 credit is not available but will call back in 48hrs. Barbie refused to provide a number to call the person directly. With all the crap going on in the country right now, you would think these people would thing about something else other than scamming victims. It is sad but typifies corporate greed an unethical behavior. They are so disjointed that corporate doesn't know and apparently doesn't care what the local ADT thieves do. Just save yourself the pain and go with any other option. And don't believe al the BS about other companies not being safe or that if your alarm goes off, the alert gets routed to India and someone in India calls the fire department or police. Yes that was what the used car salesman told me. STAY AWAY. Here is the canned response from the social media spin doctor: Hello Mark, We do apologize to learn of your frustration with the services! Upon review we do not see that you qualify for the 6 month money back guarantee as you have not met the qualifications for a release of the agreement as the system is not inoperable. ADT has offered to come and fix the issues with the system and would be unable to accommodate your request for a release from the agreement as the early termination fees of $1522.95 are valid to the account. Best Regards, Eileen L. Wray (Twining) ADT Presidential Executive Response & Resolution Social Media Specialist 4926 Kernan Blvd S | JACKSONVILLE, FL 32224 As stated ADT service was out 3 times (+ one no call no show scheduled appointment) and could not rectify the camera issues. But I did incur $60 in trip charges for them coming out. Sound fair to me right. Class action lawsuits and small claims lawsuits pending. That is the advantage of legal insurance!!! UPDATE: Even with two BBB complaints they just don't care. They refuse to do anything but want our money. As citizens we have to sue ADT out of business. Please respond to the above phonetically spelled email address if interested in joining a class action law suit. Lets sue them corporate out of their jobs!! read more

NOT TO MENTION I FOUND OUT TODAY I WAS MISLED MADE TO SIGN DOCUMENTS SAYING I WAS HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE! I WAS NEVER HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE THEY SAID IF I DID NOT SIGN THEY COULD NOT LEAVE MY HOUSE!! THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEIGN TOLD OT SIGN BECAUSE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE OR BEING FORCED TO SIGN SO THEY "CAN LEAVE THE PROPERTY"!!!! i have never been so disgusted in my life!!! this branch needs to be shut down! they need to come get their garbage equipment and give me my money back!! i am appalled at how they operate so unprofessionally and unethically!!! Imagine a company staying in business with those numbers!) saying that the service is quite likely to worst on the planet, and that I was sold the installation without being told--like so, so many other furious customers state again and again if you just scroll down the litany of similar complaints--that cancellation would mean a punitive fee of thousands of dollars. This essential info is hidden way back in the fine print of the contract they make you sign. I didn't use the security system after a couple months, because of the constant irritating alarms going off every time someone opened a door in the night. When I called to cancel, only then did they let me know that "It doesn't matter if I had been told verbally" about the cancellation fee of 75% of $70/month payments for the remaining 33 months of the three-year contract, I was on the hook for those thousands no matter what, and if I stopped payment they would call collections and destroy my credit history. And then, before I could say a word in response, they hung up on me. Twice, the same treatment. I know this message will just receive the identical auto response, or something similar, that all the others do ("We're so terribly sorry to learn of this experience you've had as a member of the ADT family! We would love to address these issues with you further. If you could please email our team directly at Alwaysthere@adt.com"). Fortunately I have never had to deal with a break in and the attending ADT incompetence associated with that, which a multitude of other enraged customers discuss in these reviews. I did not need to have anyone with a balaclava sneak into my house to rob me, I already invited the criminals in the front door when they came to install this joke of a system. And yet... and yet... When the unsuspecting potential customer Googles ADT Security the first thing that comes up is a supposed statement that "ADT is one of the most reputable and trusted home security companies in the industry, and how customers love ADT." Yes, they clearly love the company. Nothing says love like a 94% one-star rating percentage, right! =') ADT is the most overwhelmingly hated company I have ever seen on Yelp. Caveat emptor. You can expect NOTHING from these clowns except fraud, extortion, and incompetence. read more

My husband and I were new homeowners and really wanted a security system installed in our home. We had a sales person come out to the house. We presented a coupon we had received in the mail for a promotion offer. The offer was for a free device and installation. However we were told by the representative that we would be receiving sensors on all of the doors and windows. We allowed the rep to begin installations. After he completed his work he informed my husband we would be charged $1500. After weeks spent speaking with various customer service representatives (none of which were helpful) we were told we would be received a $900 refund. 4 weeks later we received a $300 refund. After months of calling again, and speaking with several "managers" we were told that for various reasons we would only receive a total refund of $700. My husband called to ask that the system be wired to our phone line (rather than wifi) and asked to have the additional sensors that in the end were not "free" removed. We were told by the person scheduling our appointment that the same representative would not be coming back to the house (as he had misled us the first time). When it came time for our appointment, the initial representative was who showed up at our door. He asked my husband why we had given him a bad review after his first visit and said he had gotten in trouble with his manager. He then proceeded to drill a hole in our newly refinished hardwood floor as he told my husband how angry he was. The hole was not in the correct spot and he had to drill another. Again, we spent months on the phone with various customer service representatives. We went them a quote to have our floors refinished for the second time. We were told we would be receiving a check from their insurance company within 30 days. Well those 30 days came and went and when we called to check on the status of the check we were told that after questioning the representative, he had told them that he never drilled that hole and our claim was denied. This company is absolutely awful. The customer service is abysmal. We have spent a total of over 200 hours on the phone with various ADT representatives trying to get our issues resolved. I have asked to cancel our services and was told it would be a fee in excess of $500 to do so. Absolutely terrible. I have several complaints filed with the BBB as well. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

In my extensive experience with various companies, ADT stands as a pinnacle of failure, embodying what it means to disdain its clientele. Being a patron seems to transform you into an inconvenience, an unwelcome thorn in their side. I invested over $30,000 for the installation of a CCTV and alarm system, only to be treated with less consideration than if I had stormed into a post office with hundreds of packages minutes before closing time. The online chat feature on the myADT portal is a farce, a purveyor of misinformation, and a masterclass in evasion. More times than I can count, I've been abruptly met with a "this chat has been closed" message, devoid of any semblance of courtesy or the offer of further assistance. It's akin to being shown the door with a disdainful shove. Telephonic interactions fare no better; indifference permeates the air. The sense that they are there merely to mark time, with no genuine concern for your issues or any intention to assist, is palpable and deeply frustrating. Two years ago, I opted for a 12-camera CCTV system installation. Today, it's glaringly apparent that the system is flawed. The company's casual admission that they provided substandard equipment is eclipsed only by their audacity to demand a fee for inspection. It's not the charge that galls me; it's the realization that they acknowledge selling inferior products, yet shirk any responsibility for decent after-sales support. Such service should be a given, not a begrudging afterthought. Attempting to schedule a technician has been an ongoing saga of incompetence. It's as if the company's left hand is unaware of what the right hand is doing, with each new contact contradicting the previous and shuffling blame back onto me. Despite following their instructions to the letter, I'm somehow always at fault, perpetually trapped in a Kafkaesque loop of inefficiency. Requests to escalate matters are met with the convenient excuse that every manager is invariably tied up in meetings--a laughable pretext that reeks of evasion. Promises of return calls remain unfulfilled, a clear tactic to dismiss and silence dissatisfied voices. It's evident that the company's sheer size emboldens a culture of impunity. This entire ordeal would be comical if it weren't so tragically wasteful--of both my time and financial investment. read more

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. I've been a customer for 9 years and during that time most of my experience with ADT has been nothing but frustration. I'll never get another home security system again. Quality sucks. Value sucks. Customer service sucks. We're a military family (my husband just finished active duty) and are moving to be closer to his family. We are not getting a system on our new home. After 9 years (customer since January 2015) and the fact that I've renewed our contract twice, you would think that there would be some wiggle room at the end. Not only would they not release us from the last contract we signed in 2020 (which doesn't run up until July 2025), in order to cancel they charged us the full remaining amount on the contract. No consideration for military service, the fact that we could provide multiple confirmations of my husbands military service, and his exit from the service with an honorable discharge. They just want your money. I understand they are a business, but most businesses I have found will waive or lower their cancelation fees if you can provide a DD214 or something else showing severance from the military. Further, I didn't even find this out the FIRST time I had to call them. When I called and cancelled I was told ok, no problem and that was that. The next day I got a bill for the following months service. Called to complain. "Oh, the person you spoke with told you you had to pay for the remainder of the contract." No. They didn't. You record everything. Go back and check for yourselves. "Sorry, sir, you're under contract and no other option." So I had to pay the money up front or pay for a security system in a house I no longer live in. Another issue I have with their service is that several times over the 9 years we've been with ADT, due to renovations or other considerations our system was unplugged and completely unpowered. Sometimes for several days, and once for several months. During that time I'd still get emails from ADT telling me that "My system is fully operational and responding to the network" and such. Tell me, HOW is that possible when there is no power? That was the beginning of me thinking that ADT was a joke. Now there is no doubt in my mind. DO NOT GET IT. It's little more than a scam to steal your money. read more

2023, I made what I feel is the unfortunate error of trying out ADT. From the get, I was told what my monthly payment would be and I chose to pay yearly, only to pay and realize I am not able to arm and disarm my system from my phone but my neighbor is. I called to inquire why and was then told I need to pay for that access separate; in 2023? Okay, lets say that is their business model; is there a reason why that was not disclosed before I signed on? None of their documentation says that and I went back to read through all. Fast forward to the resolution, got in touch with someone who finally waived the fee and gave the access after too many phone calls to customer service (ADT customer service is ............... Sorry to say). 2024, did not realize that after charging me for my yearly service I was billed separately for phone access again. No receipt was sent for that charge, neither was I notified; but a receipt and notification was sent for my year monitoring charge. 2025, got the same notification and receipt for my yearly monitoring charge but this time I noticed a separate fee on my credit card. I checked my email, there is no receipt and no notification but there it was, a separate charge from ADT. I called to ask what it is for only to be told it is for the phone access. Why was no notification sent? Why didn't I get a receipt for the 2024 phone access fee and why is there no receipt for this year's phone access fee as well? I paid for the system to be monitored online and I have to pay separately for online access to the same system? My understanding is that the mobile access fee was waived but for crying out loud, if ADT started billing me for that again, why not send a notification about it? Why not send a receipt for the fee after they took if from me? How can ADT be trusted? Now it is to start reviewing bank statements to be sure our friendly neighborhood security company is not taking out money without your knowledge. ADT? Where is the transparency? Did your team member not add the control app access for the life of the contract? read more

We had an installer call the board of health and lie telling them we had all our windows blacked out, he also trespassed in our back yard taking pictures of everything in our yard, we just tore down an old two car garage and still had debris, we have new building material on skids covered by tarps, we have 50 bags of concrete on skids & under tarps, shingles for garage and our home on skids & under tarps, a new large dog kennel on skids and under tarps, all the stuff the we store in old garage on skids in plastic bins & covered with tarps, a collection of old bikes on skids and under tarps, all our yard equipment including mowers and other power yard equipment on skids and under tarps, the ADT installer trespassed went passed our 6' privacy gate and into our back yard with a 6' privacy fence all the way around it and took photos and sent to health department all because we cancelled install? we was only getting because StateFarm was paying, we didn't go with them for home insurance. on 06/25/2024 we found out my husband has stomach cancer and two days later two cops and board of health is knocking on our door to inspect our property because they said ADT contacted them to complain and even trespassed into our back yard & took photos, we never gave him permission to come on our property, he called and we told him that we cancelled install, at that time he was still in his van, after that he pulled up the street got out of van, cut through empty lot next door and snuck into our back yard, we have it all on video with times of call and times of him trespassing through our yard and my neighbors yard, we have a lot to deal with right now and not sure how we want to pursue this, but here a company that's supposed to protect from trespassing actually does the trespassing, and all to cause hassle to us at the worst time in our families history. I am at a complete loss for why an ADT worker would do such a thing, he needs fired immediately. read more

Do not under any circumstance utilize ADT alarm systems. My wife and I before marriage had separate homes on 2 different houses (House A & B). When we got married we sold house B. In the process of attempting to canceling service on House B, ADT cancelled House A instead. When we noticed the error, we contacted to have it rectified only to be told that there was no possible way to reactivate House A's alarm system that was fully functioning 1 day prior, because the techs didn't know how to reactivate it. This was a system that had pre-wired door sensors in the door jam. ADT forced us to do a complete re-install on House A, bypassing the pre-wired sensors and installing ugly door sensors. Cut to 2.5 years later and my wife and I purchase had purchased a new home a year ago and installed a new ADT system at that home (House C), but kept House A's system activated for 1 year while the house was on the market and empty. In attempting to cancel House A that is now under contract to be sold, ADT is telling me I have to pay $350.00 to cancel the contract. Turns out, when they canceled the wrong house, they placed us in a new contract on a house that had been covered by them for 7 years prior instead of honoring our existing system. In trying to deal with customer service, the attitude is a real "Screw you, it is what it is and you will pay it". I was even told "well I was not the one that initially made the mistake or the tech" so you will receive a bill for $350.00). In asking to escalate to a manager, the approach is to state there are no managers available on a Thursday at 10:00 am and that they will send me a bill and request a call back that MAY happen within 48 hours. This is a terrible way of handling business with any customer, let alone one that had covered 3 homes over the course of 15 years. read more

The customer experience could not be worse at ADT alarms. If it was one negative exchange you would not be seeing this review. This has been going on for over 2 months. I have been on the phone with them 5 times now for close to an hour each time. Today I have been handed off to the "correct person" who can help me 6 different times so far currently still on hold waiting for help. Over two months ago the batteries went out in my keypad. I called them in hopes that they would send out a new battery since it is a specialized battery that you cannot get in local stores. They told me they could not order it and I needed to go online and order from their website. So I did. Not only did they send me the incorrect battery they sent me 7 of them 4 weeks later and charged me for all 7 at $40 a battery. So on the phone again I was issued a refund for the batteries and now for some reason, they were able to help me on the phone to order a new battery. The gentleman that helped me noted on the order and specified that the AAA battery pack was what is needed. They said again that it would be 3-5 business days for the order to arrive. 4 weeks later again they sent me the AA battery pack. So back to the phone. This time after being bounced around to 3-4 different people we ordered the AAA battery pack one more time. 3 weeks go by and still no battery. I call them today and have been handed off to 6 different people on the first call before the phone hung up on me during a transfer to a seventh. Currently on hold again. I hope that whoever is in charge of systems out there sees this review. I am a business owner and would never accept this service for my clients. Thanks for reading my rant. read more

Horrible Service, Unprofessional and Time-Wasting Experience I cannot begin to express how frustrating and disappointing my experience with ADT Security has been. I've wasted hours on the phone with customer service and had to deal with nothing but delays, poor communication, and a complete lack of professionalism. First, ADT insisted on a video call to troubleshoot an issue with my alarm system, despite my repeated requests for a technician to come to the property directly. The video call was completely unnecessary and a waste of time. Next, my initial appointment was completely missed. I called customer service, and they admitted they didn't even schedule it properly. When I followed up to reschedule, I was quoted $100 to fix the issue, only to find out later that the price had mysteriously jumped to over $200 because "someone forgot to schedule the service." What a complete lack of organization. Finally, when a technician did arrive, he didn't even have the correct parts needed to fix the alarm. To make matters worse, it was evident that he didn't want to be there and seemed completely disinterested in helping. After that, I had to call customer service again to sort things out and waste even more time. Months later and my security system still isn't working properly. This experience was nothing short of a nightmare. The constant delays, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior from both customer service and technicians have made me completely lose confidence in ADT. I would not recommend them to anyone for their security needs. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere. read more

These people are unbelievable. The system is absolutely nonfunctional and technical support sorely inadequate. It has been over a month trying to cancel with documented notes of my calls and then transfer to some type of management which has me waiting now 20 minutes. This is after I thought I had already canceled. Now I must talk to someone else to cancel because the person I talked to a month ago didn't tell me I had to speak to management to cancel. Now I have been transferred and on hold for now more than 20 minutes listening to their message that they respected my time and my call would be answered momentarily. My advice...stay away from ADT. Wow, now another 15 minutes for someone from the management team to ask me the same questions as the previous person that transferred me to them. She calls herself a call qualifier and now transfers me to another wait period to speak with someone to cancel the account. How many people can sit on the phone for this long although they say" we value your business and your time". I think not. They in fact are stealing your time and trying to kidnap you into staying with a dissatisfactory product. The options available do not address the inadequate technical assistance and their non-responsiveness. Still waiting.... I intend on staying on the line until I can cancel because of principle. Beware of this company. Instead of trying to provide you with a product to satisfy you and keep you engaged, they tie you up in a prolonged process to cancel. At this point, I wonder if they intend on ever connecting. Still waiting.... read more

We have a history of approximately 10 months with ADT, soon to be 11. Regrettably, our experience with their service has been exceedingly poor, marking it as one of the most regrettable decisions we've made. Despite ADT's professed dedication to integrity and security, our encounters with the local branch staff here in Arizona have revealed a starkly different reality. We were misled regarding pricing, with our signatures allegedly forged on documents altering costs drastically. We were billed for equipment priced at $700, far exceeding the actual value of over $3000. Notably, they removed higher-end cameras from our property but charged us for cameras that were never installed. The behavior of the local representative was notably disrespectful and arrogant. Despite numerous attempts to address these grievances with customer service, resolution has remained elusive. The discrepancy between the initially communicated monitoring and equipment fees of around $40 each and the subsequent separate invoices issued for these charges further exemplifies the deceitful practices we've encountered. These experiences have not only caused financial strain but have also left us feeling misled and taken advantage of. We have requested to terminate our contract due to the array of falsehoods and manipulations that have transpired, yet progress in ending our association with the company has been frustratingly slow. All we desire is to disassociate from ADT, having lost faith in their integrity and commitment to honest business practices. read more

Dear ADT Customer Service, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the process I have encountered while attempting to cancel my ADT service. In June, I contacted ADT to cancel my account due to moving. I was informed by your representative that, as my contract had ended, the cancellation would proceed smoothly. I was also advised that I would receive a final bill within 2-4 weeks and that any charges for the next month would be credited in the final bill. However, after two months, I had not received a final bill. I called customer service and spent four hours speaking with various representatives, but I was unable to get a clear response. Despite my repeated requests, I have not received any email confirmation of my cancellation. Additionally, no one has addressed the issue of the credit for the two months of charges after my account was supposed to be canceled. This experience has been extremely frustrating, and it seems that the process of canceling an account is unnecessarily difficult and inefficient. I hope you understand that promoting a culture of fear around cancellations is not a sustainable business practice. I request immediate attention to the following issues: Confirmation of the cancellation of my account. An updated final bill reflecting any credits due for the charges after my cancellation request. A clear and concise resolution to this matter. I expect a prompt and professional response to resolve these issues. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Nima Shafiee read more

Today I had an excellent experience with Lacey from customer service. When I called I was irate due to multiple dealings with this company and the issue not being resolved. We had a contractor out how to do an update and during that visit they realize that something else needed to be repaired. We set an appointment the day of the appointment after be arranged their schedules to be home for this visit we received a call saying that they needed a part for what needed to be fixed. About two weeks later we started getting calls from the actual Tech it took a couple of days to connect we set the appointment they came out once again making us rearrange our schedules to be home. When they left everything was working properly including phone to panel connection. But not long after we can no longer connect and disconnect from our phones once more. We were at our wits end we were going to leave the company and then I spoke to Lacey today she says the issue contacted her Superior and was able to help us remotely fix the issue they had been ongoing for so long!! We once again feel safe in our home no thanks to the higher-ups of this company but to your customer service representative Lacey that took the time to spite my bad attitude in the beginning to see through everything and work out the problem!! Great job today Lacey thank you again so much!! read more

We had been an ADT customer for 4 years (2 years longer than our contracted period). After numerous equipment failures and one break in that never triggered the alarm, we finally decided to change providers. We notified ADT that our contract was completed two years prior and that we were moving on. About 6 months later we received a collections notice from an outside agency for $450 in delinquency with ADT. We shared our story and we were advised to call ADT directly. We spoke to someone in customer service, who was very abrupt and did not seem to care that we had been a customer (on auto-pay) for 4 years and had cancelled this service. We were told that regardless of them missing our notification, the money was still due as THEY did not turn off the services. I am fairly, sure they could check and see that the system was not armed at any point during that time. The router they use had been disconnected when we called. ADT is not a protection company, they are in fact a collection company. They are unable to admit when they made a mistake and seem to be very concerned about extracting revenue from customers that fulfilled contracts with prompt payments. There are far better services out there. Find one - just not ADT. We still have contracts on several other business we own. When they are up - we will be migrating them. read more

I have had the worst experience possible with this alarm company. After a convicted predator was released from state prison and reappeared in my neighborhood, I called ADT and ordered a $6000 system to protect myself and my daughter. This company assured me that I would be safe. That assertion turned out to be false. From day #2, the alarm has not worked. One by one all of the covers from the windows sensors broke off the windows just by simply lifting my shades. When I tried to unsuccessfully tried to put back on which proved to be futile! Hence, I have NEVER BEEN ABLE TO SET THE ALARM. I have called and spent hours, days and my precious time trying to solve this with the ccompany, yet nothing has been resolved. I have spoken to managermanagers, account reps and others who assured me that I would not be charged until the system was running. However, that was a lie as well. The last tech came out last month and saw the problem with his own eyes but then told me that I had to pay for the batteries since they shorted out because of the broken covers. When I refused since I know that it was their problem, not mine, the tech was told by ADT to leave the premises immediately unless I agreed to pay. Now they want to sue me and for me to pay for the entire broken system. What am I supposed to do to be safe? read more
