The response time is great. The equipment on the other hand is mediocre, most notably are the doorbell cameras. It continually goes off of the wireless connection and reconnecting is a pain. I had a Ring doorbell prior to this and never had the issue I have with ADT. Also, the batteries for door sensors last minimal time. I'm not impressed with ADT so far. read more

Have an ADT home system. Starting beeping at 4 am. Went through all the procedures to turn off alarm- nothing worked. I was on customer service for over an hour before they could figure out how to turn it off. Said I should call the next day for service. Called and the agent said she could solve it with my help but it would take 20-30 minutes. I said please just send a tech. Scheduled a tech. Took day off of work. Appointment was from 12-4. Tech never showed up. Then I looked and ADT had summarily rescheduled it for 6-7 pm, without asking whether this was a good time for me. It wasn't. Now I am 20 minutes into a customer service call, just to reschedule a service call. I will let the reader decide whether this is acceptable service. read more

Would NOT recommend. Watch your bills. Check the amounts on your contract with what is actually being charged. When you move make certain that you request a receipt of cancelation because they scam you and continue to charge. It's your word against theirs. I have paid $200 a month for ADT services that were not even linked to the company. So in other words the alarm was triggered many times but ADT was actually not even connected to my system yet they want to charge for monitoring fees. This security system and ADT services are NOT TRUSTWORTHY. only given a one star because that's the lowest I can give. Contacted ADT about system. Was told that I could use all the cameras from my previous which was with a different company. Was given a price for indoor and outdoor cameras in case they couldn't get mine to work with the system. When the tech arrived, all pricing was completely different and was told that I could call the sales department and have them match the pricing. I have called for a solid week now and nobody wants to pull the conversation that supposedly was recorded between me and the sales person and also no one is willing to price match the prices they gave me in the beginning. They are now telling me if I cancel. I am gonna have a larger payment due because I've canceled. ADT didn't hold up their end of the contract therefore I won't be paying them anything. I do not recommend anyone to use ADT. We purchased equipment with them about a year ago with their monthly service plan. Our equipment stopped working including the app and it took them 2 months to fix it! I had to wait on hold multiple times and got the runaround for weeks. I wasted so much of my time to get basic service. Also it takes hours and days to connect with account management to make any changes to my account . Customer for well over 17 years in current location. "Upgraded" to Pulse 5 or so years ago. Also sold us the iPad like device - that's essentially a BRICK. App is terrible unless you are on your laptop. Control panel is woefully out of date. Changing batteries then the control panel won't reset without calling. This time they could not get it corrected. Wanted to charge $200 for a service call. Are you KIDDING me? Cameras go offline all the time, router has to be reset, etc. Offered an upgrade with a new long term contract and $$$$. HASTA LA VISTA. This is an update to previous reviews. Completely malfunctioning Pulse System. Upgraded to a completely malfunctioning Command/Control System. Techs mostly useless, one tech overly interested in the contents of my laptop computer for unknown reasons. Got tired of the massive dysfunction, even after spending $$$$. I finally figured out how to setup and troubleshoot the system myself. Command/Control system now FAR more reliable although it still suffers from the security shortcomings of a wifi/wireless system, namely spoofing/jamming. Working on your own system requires one to use a ladder to reach outdoor devices, especially during the initial setup phase. Now wondering if I would have upgraded to Command/Control had I setup and maintained the previous Pulse system? Probably, thinking the touted 'new and improved' wireless security of Command/Control would have made a difference. Knowing what I know now, I probably would have kept my previous Pulse system. Command/Control certainly has many improvements, just none that I find 'groundbreaking' enough throw away a $$$$ system for another $$$$ system. My advice: If you choose to go this route, be prepared to learn the system and maintain it yourself. The service contract is useful in that it pays for itself if a component fails - the ADT cameras are expensive. read more

Today is September 14, 2024 - ADT showed up, knocking on our door at 8:00AM. AGAIN, we told them we are NOT interested. Do NOT deal with this company. We had no appointment with them. We are NOT customers. Never had their service - but they are harassing us plain and simple. This is generating from the Toledo, Ohio office of ADT. My next stop is a restraining order so the phone calls and home visits STOP. I've never seen anything like this; we originally INQUIRED about possible service a month ago and they've tried everything to try to get us as customers. As Nest Secure customers who were forced to switch to ADT due to the discontinuation of Nest Secure technology, my husband and I find that the ADT replacement is lacking in a number of areas that had driven us to select Nest Secure in the first place. 1. Door sensors with a button to pause alarm when letting the dog out - We have a pet and loved that we could press a button to momentarily pause the alarm when letting out the dog in the backyard late in the evening. ADT does not offer this feature. The only way to turn off the alarm is to walk to the opposite side of the house to deactivate it manually or to look at our phones, which we prefer not to do late at night to preserve our sleep pattern. 2. Key fob entry - We loved having fobs that could deactivate the alarm. This was much simpler than trying to create codes for when we have guests stay to look after our animals or relatives visiting for extended stays. We also are starting a family and appreciated that we could provide a simple fob to our child eventually, instead of teaching the child an access code. 3. Base station appearance - While aesthetics are a less significant concern, we did prefer the smaller size of the Nest Secure base station, especially given the space where we placed the base near our entry way. The ADT base station still fits in that space, but it is significantly taller and doesn't look as unobtrusive. Even the door sensors were a smaller design, which we preferred. 4. Sound of the system - Upon using the ADT system, we discovered that it counts down upon leaving. The Nest Secure system would just state how much time you had to leave and provide a reminder. We prefer this approach, as the gentle reminder is less anxiety-inducing than listening to a beeping sound every second that you're still in the house before exiting. This is also just an opinion, but my husband and I also prefer the single "ding" of the Nest Secure system as opposed to the triple "ding" of the ADT system. 5. Motion detection combined with the door sensors - Nest Secure had motion sensors that could sense someone walking by the door combined with the door sensor itself. It does not seem this is a feature of the ADT door sensors, despite their added bulkiness. We were given a separate motion sensor instead, but as this is something we never had with Nest Secure it felt like one more thing to place. We also are hesitant to activate it, as we do have animals and will need to play around in the app to figure out how to adjust the sensitivity so that it does not go off while the animals are moving around the house. We recognize that this system is a free replacement from Google due to the discontinuation of Nest Secure, so we have little reason to really complain, but it does feel like this is a downgrade from our previous system. We would have expected ADT to adopt some of the same features of the now defunct Nest Secure, but it seems they are just sticking with the technology that ADT has used this whole time. We will continue researching other security systems that we could purchase in the future with more of the functionality that we originally had with Nest Secure. read more

We have been with ADT for over 34 years. We are a retired couple on a fixed income. I recently installed an alarm system to try and save some money. I called to cancel, and they say I am under contract until June of next year and that we owe close to $300. Last time was talked to ADT we thought we were month to month contract. I talked to several people in billing, and none of them said they could do anything to forgive the charge. In the last 34 years, we've paid ADT over $20,000. So June 2022 my son in law had the entire house armed with window sensors and door senor alarms, and cameras because of a flight risk (run away) of his 12 yr old daughter who has issues. The house has all double hung windows, with this said the tech who installed the system put the sensor on the bottom window. Needless to say, his daughter pulled down the top window, cut the screen and ran away. The police couldn't believe the installation of the system, they kinda laughed that it was a useless system. Had it not been an escape, it could have been an entry of a burglar. ADT wants more money to correct the installation of this useless system. I am very very disappointed with ADT. I feel like I'm just throwing my money away every month and without the peace of mind that my family and home is being protected. I have been with them for years and I feel very unappreciated and unhappy with the service. My cameras don't barely record. I ordered batteries for my panel and its been over a week I haven't received them and on top of that the battery cost me 40$ and they also charged me 20$ to send the battery in two days after I called to tell them I haven't received them. They said it was still at the UPS facility that it hadn't even shipped. No one comes to rewire a couple of cameras that I need rewired unless you pay them. All they want is to take and take your money without putting effort to helping you. I'm very upset with ADT. I had a emergency once and they even contacted the wrong police department. If I could give them a ZERO I would - I was a client for 18 years - we sold our business but because we had a year left on our contract they made me pay out the balance of over $2500! Yes, we had a contract, but I was a great client that paid my bills and worked with them for 18 years. Every other company we dealt with canceled with no fee - just ADT. And when I called the first time they didn't put it in the system, so I had to call a month later and got stuck with more fees. Don't sign a contract with them! We have an issue with an upstairs window sensor for several months now, which ultimately has never been fixed by ADT. This sensor, which happens to monitor our 4 yr old daughter's window, would alarm in the middle of the night causing my wife to go into a panic. This happened multiple times. Numerous time we called ADT and they would try troubleshooting the issue over the phone, each time we would later discover didn't work. Finally they agreed to send a tech out, who let me know that the sensor in fact never actually worked (for years) and is on an adjacent bedroom window- but also linked to our daughter's window, so both not working. His supervisor agreed they could reduce the cost from $50 to $40 to fix the issue... All of this after we have literally spent thousands of dollars on the ADT system and "service" and they'd like us to continue to. They try charging us every time they send out a tech to fix their system issues. I have to bypass this sensor/both windows each time I turn on our security without constant false alarms. I have had ADT security for over 6 years, we have never had to pay for an item to be replaced. We had a big storm and it messed up on of our door sensors. ADT does NOT know a thing about Customer Service. It took quite a number of calls to have something resolved that occurred on 08/04/23. It wasn't resolved until 09/28! In one call, I spoke to at least 11 people over a 3 1/2 hour period-much of it On Hold. Each person asked me to explain the reason for my call which meant repeating the same thing 11 times. Each person also told me they would resolve it but then said I had the wrong department and transferred me to a different department where I was told the exact same thing-I had the wrong department! The very last person I spoke with on 09/28, sent me the information I needed in less than 5 minutes! This should have been done on 08/04 with one phone call speaking with at most 2 people. I have been a customer with ADT for a number of years. I moved in 2022 and installed an ATT security system in my new home. At the time I signed a contract with a verbal promise that a contract would ensure that my rate would stay the same. After about 6 to 8 moths I had a security camera go out and asked to have someone come out to fix it. I was told that i would need to trouble shoot it with a phone call. So they put me to work and I attempted to fix the camera with the help of a technician on the phone. We did not succeed and i wasted hours doing their job. The camera has been offline for the last 6 months. In the meantime over the course of the last 6 months ATT has raised my monthly rate from 68.00 to 90.00 a month (under contract). I was called by a sales person recently who wanted me to sign a new contract for 49.00 a month with a guarantee that by doing that I would stay at that rate. Really? I refused and now am trying to cancel my service, which they say I still am under contract for (a two year contract that expires in January). So now they have raised my rates and I will have to pay them the increased rate to get out of my contract. Do I have any legal recourse? What's the point of having a contract? read more

A nightmare from the date of installation. I bought 3 ADT cameras specifically for the alerts, as my 12-camera system wasn't connected to the Internet. The cameras are suppose to send alerts when a listed object crosses into the set "ground zone". However, they send alerts when any vehicle crosses its field of view, regardless if it's in the ground zone or not. Two on-line techs., 3 visits from techs. to the property and all that they ever did was adjust the ground zone on my phone and on-line. After the last visit, the ground zone had been adjusted so far back that we were missing alerts when people or vehicles entered the property. Still unresolved. Currently, I have a window sensor that has been malfunctioning. Two phone calls and a week with an unsecured home, I have been mailed a sensor for ME TO INSTALL with the help of what I was told would be a FaceTime-like call. Nope. You have to operate the call off a website (routethis.com) that states in their user agreement that they share your information with unspecified third parties. Since I don't want to use their chosen app and let ADT and whomever else know what type of devices are on my home network and those devices' signal strength while on my home network or any details on my phone's Wi-Fi, "surrounding Wi-Fi networks, channels, and Wi-Fi security type,..." and since I don't want ADT to have all that information, I have to pay a technician $59 to come out here to replace the defective sensor that is still under warrant. The Virtual Service team member grew frustrated, and short at my complaints of having the security of the information on home network and the devices connected to it ransomed for $59. She transferred/banished me to the vortex of undesirable calls and I have not received a call back. So, I have since have had to start all over. read more
