Purchasing was a difficult and confusing process. They insisted on a credit check even though I said I'd pay everything at once with a CC. They system worked for only 1 day, and then went dead. I came across Gerald, and he reassured me over and over that I would not be signing a contract. He then sent me a form, stating that it was just simply to check my credit, since I was financing the equipment. After trying to cancel, I was told that I had signed a three-year contract. I can never reach anyone to contact me back, and management has gotten my information to call me back, but no one ever calls back. I see why they have such a low rating. Had I come across these ratings before, I would have never signed up. Hey, let me say how bad your sales rep are for new homeowners! We have "No solicitors" posted, but I do appreciate the effort. However when your sales team says "So you just don't care about security" they can go F themselves. First, you know someone did not set up an appointment due to me not having my dogs away and them barking like crazy. You dont have to say it - DONT LIE TO ME. Second, if I did not want your services, don't threaten me by saying well I am going to take away your 2500 credit. I dont want it, I never wanted it, and your sales tactics are working against me ever wanting it. Additionally if you cant see into my house, but I can see out through window coating, and cameras, and my dogs are barking, those are security systems I use. Hour on the phone trying to cancel my non existing contract. horrible customer service.

I have been with ADT for over 20 years and I have seen the customer service decline over the years. Why is it so difficult to speak with an ADT rep? And, when you're connected you're in the wrong department so when you get transferred the phone hangs up on you. I recently switched from ADT Pulse to ADT Command system - I have to say it sucks! The reliability just isn't there. Tonight, the battery on the main panel is dead, which I didn't know until the other panels were saying "standby" - I try to call ADT for help... instead during the hold times I fixed it myself! I ended up pulling the battery from my Garage main panel (I have a separate ADT Command system) and it turned back on. I haven't even had the system for 6 months and the battery is dead already and the monitoring center did not receive notification that my system was down. What am I paying to be monitored then? At this point, I am completely frustrated because I have spent so much on this new system and it sucks!! In addition, the ADT customer support sucks... well, their answering phone system! I will need to call to see what my options are - if I can get my money back or switch back to the ADT Pulse system. read more

I have complained to the BBB and FTC and that's the first time in my life. But because I stuck it out through several transfers and stayed on the phone for over an hour, I got the fees waived. Horrendous Customer Service. I kept getting disconnected and passed around. We moved and I tried to relocate my service address but my poor experience lead me to cancel the service. Then I kept getting passed from department to department and disconnected. Price kept going up and service just seems to keep going down. I am absolutely appalled with the service that ADT offers to military members. First, I was lied to about my monthly bill and ended up paying double the price of what I was expecting. Secondly, after receiving military orders for out of country, I called ADT to cancel monitoring services. I was transferred to 8 different service reps before I finally talked to someone competent. The 8th person told me that if I were to cancel monitoring services, that I would have to pay the full installment amount for the equipment, which was over $2,500! They said that they could not simply turn off the monitoring services and I continue to pay monthly for the equipment. So here i am, about to pay monthly for something that will not be used by me or my renters while I am serving my country overseas. DO NOT GO WITH ADT! This is coming from a military officer with over 16 years of service. Companies like this do not deserve the business from our military members. I wanted to continue to pay monthly for the equipment, but that option was not available. Also, there is no option to simply suspend service and pick it back up upon return into country. read more

We have an ADT alarm system at my place of business. Neither I nor the previous owner have an ADT account (we use another security system) but the alarm suddenly went off during renovations. When I called to get the alarm to stop they said that I have to rip the installed panel off the wall or find a "small, tan or black, or gray, or silver box [that could be anywhere in 10,000 sq ft warehouse] and unplug it. I asked them to send someone to make sure this doesn't happen again and uninstall the equipment but they said "no, you're not a customer" which is exactly why I want the system out. I would not be forwarded to a supervisor, I could not get someone out here to turn it off, and I could not get help. Lesson learned: if you are an ADT customer but stop service, the alarm will go off one day and you will not be able to stop it without ripping a hole in your wall. read more

I'm a landlord. that was using the blink cameras and still is using them do to my experience with ADT, I didn't expect to be left feeling like I was SCAMMED which is exactly what I experienced. a sales representative came over and I explained exactly what I was looking for security cameras that can provide the same service I was receiving from my blink system which is recording,sound ect, this sales rep pretty much told me what I wanted to hear to make his sale. the day of installation before beginning I specifically asked the installer does these cameras have sound he assured me that they had a mic so they can have sound. very next day someone gets murder in the back yard so of course the CPD wants to see the video and that's when I find out that the cameras didn't have sound let alone they weren't even recording, me not knowing the installer didn't use any studs when screwing them into the drywall which caused one to fall which stopped all from recording, I contacted the sales representative the next day which was day 3 after installation which is their policy explained my situation to him and that I would like them removed I was told that he would contact me the next da, never did so I contacted ADT themselves and they refused to provide any type of customer service and are sticking me with a $2,300 bill which makes no sense when the cameras wasn't even used for 5 days from the sales rep to the installer not installing them properly and the lack of customer service this experience was horrible and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone cause it seems like they literally took the opportunity to stick me with a bill with no type of understanding,I can understand me having to pay a cancellation fee or even labor fee but the only option these SCAMMERS had was for me to pay the bill in full, worst experience I've had while making any sort of purchase in my lif. read more

I have been an ADT customer for 13 years. How I was treated this weekend as a long time customer has not been acceptable. I had a new basement door installed March 4. I had the original door sensor from the purchase of this alarm system; needed a new door sensor. I called ADT sales dept. I had to order a new sensor via sales dept, gave my credit card, signed the docusign documents & a pending charge was present in my bank account. I was told that the sensor would be delivered within 5-7 days. Now 20 days later, no sensor. The security of my home has been jeopardized due to the bypass of the basement door. Upon contacting ADT they advised that the sales rep dropped the ball and now I can start over & order the sensor. I asked for priority shipping & was advised that that would cost me an additional $30. I requested a supervisor to contact me and after 12 hours, I have not received a return call. I am appalled at the level of customer service. Train your reps appropriately! What now? I want to cancel my service immediately! read more

Probably the worst customer service out there. I was not told about applying for a police permit. It's my fault that I should have spent the whole day reading their lengthy contract with all the fine print. I believe that something important like that should have been explained by the representative and not left to me to discover on my own later. When I called to cancel the service, the representative was rude and started giving me a lecture about the history of the company. I was told I have to pay the rest of the contract and after one month of being with them, I am forced to pay for a service I won't use from a company I can't trust. read more

My home alarm hasn't worked for 3 months and they are unable/unwilling to repair it and are still charging me. When I called they say it takes 30 days to disconnect the service even though it hasn't been working or connected for months yet they still have the nerve to keep billing me. Two stars and I am being very generous to a company who lied to me. My ADT Pulse system was installed and connected fine to my WiFi which is a satellite ISP, then suddenly the main panel would not connect any more. I called ADT and they sent a technician to my home to troubleshoot the problem. The tech had no idea what was wrong and spent more than an hour on his phone with someone else at his office; still no resolution. He then took the panel apart and replaced the battery with still no results. He then got back on his phone and told me what the other person said and I paraphrase, "ADT Pulse systems do not work with any satellite internet service." But I told him I have been using the same ISP with the Pulse system for two (2) years with ViaSat, but still insisted that was the cause of the problem and he shutdown the WiFi function on the panel. While cleaning, I accidently knocked off the cover of a window sensor which caused an alert on the main panel. While doing so I tried to connect the panel to WiFi again; it connected right away with ViaSat satellite internet. Lies, lies, lies. read more

My husband passed away yesterday and I was attempting to cancel the medical alert service with ADT. Needless to say between the automated prompts, wrong phone numbers, dropped calls, & differences in account numbers (I got mine from the monthly invoice) the account remains open after two hours of total frustration. Our system never worked properly, I tried to cancel services and the lady basically would not let me cancel services , she said she had to speak with my husband even though my name is on the bill and I paid the bill and would not let me cancel services since she could not talk to him. Service was unusable for a year, called to cancel was put on hold for over an hour with no customer support. Called back but chose cancel due to moving and was helped immediately. So to get the service cancelled I had to say I was moving. It is the worst experience I've ever had to cancel a service. While the technology of their home monitoring and security system has intermittent bugs, but biggest issue is their inability to hear or address this customer's needs. I know you may think, "The guy writing this review is just having a bad day" or "The only reviews that make it onto the web are bad reviews... I am sure it cannot be as bad as all that". It is. They are. I have never experience a business with such bad customer service. Across the past month I have spent over 12 hours trying to resolve problems. They have sent 4 service techs out to resolve the problem and each time they reported the sales team had sold incompatible equipment with our system. Forget trying to get a manager or supervisor to respond as they do not exists or hide behind a switchboard maze. ADT has always been synonymous for home safety... God forbid you ever need them... All of the many negative reviews are accurate. We were an ADT patrol customer for years, but about one year ago they completely disappeared from our neighborhood, so I called to cancel. The person I spoke to said that to cancel, I had to fax my cancellation notice to the telephone number she gave me. I did so and got a recorded message that this was a suspended ADT number. Then I wrote to ADT's headquarters back east notifying it that I cancel and told them why. They responded by saying they had cancelled my account. The following month I got a bill from them for $ 85.02. I wrote them back and said I owed them nothing and they should refund to me a year's worth of charges when they had abandoned this neighborhood. Their response was to turn their $85.02 unjustified claim to a collection agency. I paid the claim to avoid the inconvenience, not because it had any validity. As a loyal customer for over 3 decades, I am beyond disappointed in ADT. I have a newer system. Faulty sensor, causing alarm to go off at 2:44 AM multiple times. Called to make an appt for a tech to come out. Of course they won't without an additional fee. However, they offer a service that a tech will call you, walk you through it over the phone and then send you a new sensor if needed at no charge. Had a scheduled time to be called that same evening, an email confirmation followed and that evening NO PHONE CALL. The next day I called because I have nothing better to do than micromanaged this company, to be told by the rep that according to her notes, I allegedly got a call when I know I absolutely did not. I asked to speak to a manager, she took my information AGAIN and said he would call me. Here we are day 3 and NO PHONE CALL. Their slogan is "ADT real protection" but that's false advertising when there's no "real person" calling you back. Do not use ADT they subcontract to safe haven security that has a class action lawsuit against them they falsely claim to be ADT, they say at your closing a credit was given by your mortgage company to get you started. Then add on to the installation to get more money out of you. Customer service is a joke if you ask to speak to a supervisor they refuse to put you through. Their techs do not know how to set up the camera features, I had an issue with the wifi and need cameras reset on the roof I'm 60yrs old with disabilities and they said pay us $85 and we will schedule a tech. Very unhappy with my ADT security system. I feel like the batteries are always going out. I am constantly trying to figure out how to replace batteries and where. The batteries are very expensive and difficult to install. My system has not been 100% online for over 6 months because I am constantly fixing and replacing items. Now the carbon monoxide detector is out and I've only had the system for a few years and they are going to charge me $100.00 to replace it and $100.00 to install it even though that is clearly going to be screwing it into a wall. The results were, almost a trip to the ER because my blood pressure was so elevated. Tried to get service on my property. The sales man said I was unable to because there was a cancelled account under my name. After 8 hours and no representative giving me any information, they would just transfer me to other reps., finally I was told there was a business account linked to my name of over 10 years ago. A business with a separate entity???? And worst off never heard of this business. And they linked it to my number?????? Then there was a third account under someone else's name in my address of over 20 years ago. On Tuesday 6-20-23 spoke with about 3 reps. The icing on the cake was SARA #212768. I asked to speak with a supervisor. Her response was, we don't have one available. You mean to tell me that ADT has only 1 supervisor and the only way to speak with them is a call back in 48 hours. This is the company that we are to put our trust in to secure our home. They transferred me to a collection company, no records. Right! because it's not mine. The rep tells me this was charged off.?????? I was under the impression when an account s charged off, your basically taking an IRS deduction as a loss. And you are still trying to collect? I requested a signed contract by me and no one can procure. I'm going to report ADT to bureau of security and investigative services and the better business bureau. Terrible customer service. Had two appointments with four hour windows. 1st time guy doesn't show up. 2nd time they show up late. Called customer service to complain and they couldn't care less. Might as well tell you just wait all day and maybe someone might show up. Switching my business account ASAP and the home account as soon as the contract runs out. Done with incompetence. Recently had new windows installed and set it up at no charge to reconnect contacts. Guy who came late in day said he didn't have enough time to do the job. Spent 4 hrs today on the phone transferred from person to person and on hold to find out they charged us for a service call and to come out to fix the contact would be discounted at $500.
