Rather, Perry readily identified what would likely make sense for my home, asked incisive and poignant questions about my home security needs, and carefully listened to and thoughtfully answered all my questions. He then diligently followed up with a recommended package for my home. Perry's attention to detail, follow-up communications, and responsiveness was impeccable. And I was all the more impressed given the fact that N & D is a small team that essentially operates as a family-owned business. Installation: The installation could not have been more seamless. One of their representatives came to our house on a Friday afternoon and my wife answered the door. My wife has a hard time telling sales people "NO" - this is why I have a subscription to the Washington Times that I never read - but she told the rep that she needed to discuss any purchase with me first. He continued to pressure her, stating that they had a "special offer" and that she could just sign up and cancel if we changed our mind. Succumbing to the sales pressure, she did. Of course, when I got home I saw that she did sign a binding contract, with the option to cancel within 72 business hours per state law. I was none-to-happy about this and called the sales rep. Being a sales guy myself, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He was nice although noticeably nervous on the phone, and said he would come by the next afternoon to discuss the features of the system. All the while I had been researching ADT on the internet and saw universally poor reviews. ADT consistently ranks amongst the 10 worst companies to work for every year, and the worst in customer service. The internet is awash with stories of those who were strong-armed into signing up with ADT using fear-mongering and aggressive sales tactics. And horror stories about an utter lack of support and customer service when something goes wrong. I was not feeling comfortable about signing a 3-year agreement with them. I felt even less comfortable when the sales rep never showed. He did call that night and we spoke again about the system, but by this point I felt that he was entirely untruthful through the whole process. That, coupled with the poor reviews of ADT, made me decide to cancel. I called their offices Monday morning and to their credit, the woman on the phone was SUPER nice. I told her I felt the sales rep strong-armed my wife into signing up, and we needed some time to discuss. She said she would cancel the install and to take our time to talk it over. Still, I was uneasy and untrusting of them, so I also had the wife send in a cancellation letter, and sent to arrive the next day with signing/proof of receipt mandatory. That night, the doorbell rang in the evening. It was, of course, another ADT rep. So much for taking our time to think it over. And ever since then I've gotten ringing doorbell once a weekend from them. As a sales professional, I ABHOR these types of sales tactics. It gives us legit PROFESSIONALS a bad rap. I will NEVER do business with this company, and I recommend everyone else to do the same.

I hired Monica in December 2024 to install: 28 security cameras A sound intercom system with 18 speakers 5 access control pads integrated with the fire alarm system As for the security cameras, she agreed to install 28 after reviewing my architectural plans but only installed 16--and did so carelessly. Wires were left hanging, ceiling tiles were damaged with large holes, and I was never given access to the security system, while she retained full access and was apparently monitoring the premises without authorization. The cameras themselves were cheap, low-quality models from Amazon (under $50 each)--completely unsuitable for a commercial setting, despite charging me for a professional setup. I paid her the full contract amount for this portion, and she has yet to complete the job or give me access to recorded footage. Despite paying her half of the contract amount upfront, she never delivered or installed a single access control pad. Even worse, she had no clue how to connect them to the fire alarm system--something that should have been fundamental to her scope of work. I had to bring in my fire alarm vendor and general contractor to explain to her how to do her own job. Still, nothing got done. Regarding the sound intercom system, she was supposed to install 18 ceiling-mounted speakers. Instead, she purchased cheap desktop speakers (less than $30 each) from Amazon, dumped them on the floor, and suggested installing wall shelves to mount them near the ceiling--completely unprofessional and unusable for a public facility. Meanwhile, she continued demanding more money and delayed my entire project by over five months--from December 2024 to May 2025--causing serious disruption and financial loss. To make matters worse, she repeatedly entered the property without my knowledge or permission, even after I explicitly told her not to. She frequently asked the building's front desk for access, showing a complete lack of respect for boundaries and professionalism. Monica Escala has shown a complete lack of expertise, ethics, and professionalism. She overpromises, underdelivers, delays critical projects, uses substandard materials, and ignores basic contractual obligations. In my experience, this was nothing short of a scam.

Without an education about inspection or servicing my extinguishers, I just assumed the units would work when needed and I would know instinctively how to use them. So, 'attending to my home's extinguishers' never made it to my to-do list. After getting a brief education on youTube, I learned how critical fire extinguishers are to home safety. Since Fire Departments are so enthusiastic about smoke, carbon dioxide, and radon detectors, I was disappointed to learn that not only do they not execute recharging and inspections but the service rep had no referrals. Recommendations to homeowners regarding fire extinguisher protocols, inspection, and usage should rate the same attention as their smoke detector promotions. Workshops on when and how to use fire extinguishers should be standard in our schools, hospitals, airports, businesses, home owner insurer inspections, etc as well as part of our Fire Departments' community education programming, locally and nationwide. Think about the potential exposures to fire during and after impacts on structures by extreme weather events. Moreover, so many vehicles have recalls with warnings of spontaneous combustion while driving and/or when garaged. Even airplanes, electric vehicles, and electronic devices have increased instances of battery fires and explosions. Domestic airlines just established a mandate that all battery packs and battery-driven devices be displayed and NOT packed in cargo OR in overhead cabin luggage due to recent fires. Nonetheless, my online search turned up F&M FIRE PROTECTION with a five star rating for inspection and recharging fire extinguishers, among other services. This company should be on the Fire Department's resource list for local fire extinguisher services. Though I figured my units were too old to recharge, rather than default to an online purchase, my choice to visit in person was the right move. This location is a great value if you are in the market for fire extinguishers, inspection, and/or recharging. After shopping by browser, I found per unit rates to be same as online with the added value of receiving a full understanding of related data points you may not have considered. Though the building is tucked away in an industrial park, GPS can get you there without a hitch. Worth the side trip to be struck by the high-spirited, personable attention you get, delivered by a light-hearted team with a gallery of antiques on display.
