Clearly a local place but open to everyone. Food is prepared fresh, it's tasty and filling. Indeed among the best patty melts I have had anywhere in the nation. Fresh hand-made patties--cooked just right with a perfect amount of grilled onions. Homemade desserts too--the heath bar sheet cake was outstanding. You serve your own drinks--solid iced tea. Hungry for breakfast after being on the road since 4am, we made a leap for this hole in the wall place. It was WELL worth it. 2 breakfast buffets that came with a tea for only $9/each! Homemade biscuits and pancakes that were hearty and made right. Crisp bacon and a small variety of meats. FRIENDLY service in an environment where it seemed like everyone knew everyone else. Went there for lunch, typical diner fare with decent prices. They also have weekly buffet choices. Had the buffet with all the home style sides like sweet yams and yeast rolls. Advada's Diner in Carlisle, Arkansas, was a wonderful discovery. Down a side street and a bit out of the way, it looks like a big barn that's been renovated to feed the locals. But let me tell you, THEY KNOW HOW TO COOK! Monday thru Friday, they open at 5:30 a.m. and close at 2:00 p.m., and Saturdays they are open from 8 a.m. - 12 noon (serving brunch only on Saturdays or so says the cutie behind the counter). They have a hot food bar with one main meat that varies daily and plenty of hot veggie sides with melt-in-your-mouth yeast rolls. Everything was flavorful, the iced tea was nice and dark and rich without being bitter. The desserts are to die for and the decor of diner tables, chairs, signs, auto tags and more are as warm and welcoming as the people behind the counter. In addition to the great buffet, they also have numerous items made-to-order from the grill. As we traveled along I-40, we were looking for something different to try for lunch. The name Advada's just seemed to catch me attention. The parking lot was full, which is always a good sign. The staff were very friendly. The day we were there, I think we were the only ones that weren't locals. They didn't have order numbers or anything, so my wife asked how they'd find us. The lady at the register said, "I'll just tell them to look for the new faces!" Anyway, we got our food - it was all nice and hot - and delicious!!! My son ordered the burger and he said that it was likely the best one he ever had. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with plenty of RT 66 memorabilia. The prices were very reasonable, too! I give it 5 stars because it's the perfect out of the way country diner. It's kinda non descript. It's in one of a few barn like buildings next to farm land. The interior however is colorfully decorated and the establishment is one of the cleanest I have ever seen. CONS: Cash only If you want good coffee - the coffee is standard. No espresso lattes here. You can tell that the usual patrons are very local, Caucasian and God fearing; if you're anything but, then you will be noticed upon walking in. However, you should be fine. read more
