I was the only customer in line waiting to be checked out and there was no one being rang up at the time. Three employees were behind the counter: one on a computer looking for a part, and two others in the back chatting. After waiting for a few minutes, I didn't know if the woman on the computer noticed me waiting. I asked if anyone was available to check me out and she responds "I can check you out since you can't wait." I was shocked at how rude she was!! I was only asking because I had been waiting and was hoping one of the three employees could ring me up so that I could be on my way. Very disappointed and will not be coming back.

It was a blown engine (rod, cylinder, bearing, who knows the cause at this point). Spoke with the owner Charles who was fantastic and filled with integrity. The mechanic Gareth replaced the engine and had the car back in a week (there were other issues as a result of shrapnel shooting out of the block). 600 miles on the 76k used engine and so far no issues. Mr. Hoover (Charles) also let me know, and I trust him, if there's an issue he will make it right. I did consult a couple of other mechanics and they said that the work was being done at a very reasonable price (one said it was cheaper than he could do, especially the price of the engine). Most people need to realize cars a crap shoot. Quality integrity and workmanship is a skill though.

I always like to support local business but will never take a car here again. I was given different prices, the owner attempted to charge me multiple times for the same services, including towing. Even upon completion he stated I could have the car towed home. After well over $2,000 in repairs I refuse to have to tow a car that should be working properly when it leave the repair shop. I do not wish to go back and forward with the owner via social media but have all my receipts, including all estimates from the Hoover & Sons that I am more than happy to post if there is any denial by the owner. This post is to give potential customers all the information so they can make their own informed decision before doing business with Charles "Chuck". I have not lived in Michigan in over 10 years but my mom does and I was hoping to still be able to support local business for the care of her 1959 Ford Fairlane. Again, this is not to go back and forward with Chuck. I paid every dime you charged me and am not happy with your service that's all. You have questionable business ethics, poor customer relations and inflate your costs once you get the customer. Started out great. Randy came to remove damaged awning and agreed to repair awning from storm…read moredamage. Then according to Randy my roof also was damaged so my insurance company also covered that. I chose to upgrade roof and paid all around directly for that. Went south after that as Randy agreed to fix a laundry list of things wrong in my camper that I have been hoping to find someone who would come repair onsite in rural area of UP. So I went thru old emails and notes from working with manufacturer and dealer for travel trailer. When they arrived I went thru all the items with Randy including a non working toilet he guided me into disconnecting to stop the leak. I had a broken recliner and while I was standing in front of it Randy released it and bruised and cut my leg. I ran down the list of items and left for home with confidence these two would repaid all the items on my list and I would pay directly for those. I gave them the insurance check and basically never heard from them again. I kept calling Randy, I'd get a text saying he's super busy, it's the weekend, he's backed up etc Finally after weeks of this the partner calls and tells me he knew nothing of all these other repairs that was all Randy. Well Randy never called or responded. The partner promised Randy would call multiple times. Never happened. I demanded info on the roof so I could register it for warranty and was sent some pics by the partner and a link to register my roof. Then I said I planned to write a review and was sent this lovely text... So in a nutshell I'm not sure why they had me make a list, get manufactures info a huge waste of time if they only planned to do insurance work and leave me with a bunch of minor items broken including the toilet. Very confusing that they seemed so great at first and then just ghost you once they had their insurance checks. All they had to say is I don't do all that other stuff But to assure me that would all be handled and then just ghost a person is lousy. I'd look elsewhere for repair folks if I were you...
