They give you a receipt for your taxes when filing and also the check. To get the car weight, they weigh the tow truck with the car then drop the car in the lot then re-weigh just the tow truck. You can see the weight at the register and on the electric billboard at the weight station. You need to bring the car title and a photo identification card. The employees were friendly and efficient. I called around all the junk yards that I found on Google in Columbus Ga to see which one would give me the best price. This place offers $6.50 per 100 pounds with free pick up. It also offers $7.50 per 100 pounds if you drop off the vehicle. However, if your junky vehicle runs, you should sell it by looking up its value on kbb.com (Kelly Blue Book) and write the price on the car and drive it around for a buyer to see instead of accepting the few $100s you will get at a scrap yard. I was told if I came in at that time it was about a 90 minute wait; so I scheduled an appointment for the following day (today) at noon. I am recovering from a major surgery and sitting for several hours to wait would be painful and exhausting. I arrived early (11:45) in case any paperwork needed to be done. At 2:45pm a staff member approached me, I thought my car was done, I was wrong. He was giving me an update that there was still one car in front of me. I have been here for 3 1/2 hours as I write this and my car still hasn't been started. They said nothing about being behind when I checked in at 11:45, or I would have rescheduled as I had other appointments this afternoon which I am now missing. I would have left but I was under the impression they were working on my car while I sat here. Incredibly unprofessional with no basic respect or courtesy for their customers. This was my first and LAST time using a pep boys. Edited to add, changing from 1 to 5 stars for their honestly after evaluating, they confirmed that my brakes are not critical as my dealership told me, still perfectly safe to drive. They could have lied to make more money by replacing them but that still would have had to be done another day.
