After going to Autozone in Rockville (the one that now is in the space of Patio.com)... I was in search of Windshield Washer Fluid. My car was completely out. Guess why? #ThanksCicadas So I went to Autozone in Rockville and they were completely 100 percent cleared out. Then I called Autozone in Gaithersburg. They said they had some available. So I show up and realize... oops... I went to Advanced Auto Parts hahaha. Turns out, I'm not sure where the Autozone is in Gaithersburg. But while I was there I figured I might as well check if Advanced Auto Parts has some. Guess what? They did! It was right in front at the front door. There was a bunch of large orange bottles that said they were great for bug residue. Perfect! And it was on sale! 2 jugs for 6. So I take two jugs and I'm walking around and this is where the experience got 5 stars. One of the workers noticed that I had taken two of the orange and informed me that the sale was actually only on the green version. Oh! And I didn't happen to see any green at the front. She said, "Would you like me to get the green for you?" And I said, "Oh you have more in the back" And she was like "yeah I think I do" and I said, "Is it good for bugs" And she said "Yep! It's good for bugs" So she goes back and grabs me two big green jugs and rings me up. Now that's service. She knew exactly why I had taken two jugs and took the initiative to let me know that I had actually made a mistake ( probably a bit of a common one), and she helped me correct it. 5 stars! Now my Windshield Washer Fluid is FULL FULL with reserves a plenty in my car to make it through this cicada nightmare. The green fluid is good, but apparently some of the cicadas that hit my windshield on the highway and had residue baked on for a few days needed a bit of elbow grease in addition to the window washing. I came to get a free battery check and was advised by the only visible employee that she could not leave the shop, that her coworker is outside working on another car and he had the equipment to check the battery. I went outside to wait and look for the other employee. I waited for about seven minutes and still had not seen the other employee. When I returned inside to tell the same employee that I could not find her coworker to help me, she just shrugged. At this point I was angry. I left the store to do some shopping. When I returned that original employee stated that the other employee returned to the store and now he was on his break!!!!! She must have felt very sorry for me because she asked if I could bring my car to the curb and she could test the battery quickly. I thanked her for her help, even though it took the employee a long time to set the clamps... Luckily, all was good with the battery. Not the best. Not the worst. Not ideal. I needed a new rear windshield wiper for my truck. The store was out of two of the brands that I requested and I was starting to get annoyed. After selecting from the more than two-dozen options that appeared in the system, the sales associate kept coming back to me saying, "Nope we don't have that". Ok, so let's start with what you do have and pick from there. The system shows what is, and is not, in stock (which I realized after the 2nd fruitless attempt at finding me a blade). Plus, knowledge of the store's inventory makes offering suggestions a breeze and situations like this a lot less painful. Fine, I went to the other line wait another 5 mins and I was told the last battery was sold to the man in front of me. Remember I ordered the battery online 2 hours ago and their website state the order will be ready in 30 mins. I told the cashier the situation and he told me they will not reserved the parts for you because a lot of their online order were never picked up. I just stepped foot into this Advance Auto location and let me tell you, I won't be going back. Not for anything. I was met at the counter by a young lady who rolled her eyes, exhaled with extra effort, and then after looking for coworkers who might assist me asked me what I wanted. I tried to diffuse by asking her how her night was, and then added I was looking for some expert advice on some error codes I received. She snapped back without so much as making eye contact that I needed to "google the codes" "we don't give advice, we aren't mechanics here". I have been to three other locations and had pretty good experiences, even with those that were clearly brand new employees with slim to no automotive experience. I placed a pick-up order based on the recommendations from the website. Unfortunately, the item I purchased was incorrect so I headed to store to either replace or refund item. The young lady (Candace) who assisted me was rude and condescending. She told me that the part that I had was universal so I asked her to look it up in her system she had the nerve to tell me to go to a mechanic. I asked her very nicely again to look it up. She looked the item up come to find out the information she was giving me was incorrect and the part I needed was not universal. She went and got the right parts and proceeded to tell me it was very expensive. She put the parts on another counter and proceeded to help another customer. Candace needs to be retrained or find another job so that she doesn't have to deal with customers. Horrible customer service!!! read more

I just left the store very disappointed. I asked the 2 non busy counter people if they could offer any advice on how to remove a cap that covers a headlight bulb that I need to replace. It's 40 degrees here and I have been in the store twice with pictures to show them what I need and they offer no service. I am just not strong enough to grip the cap and not one of the employees standing around has offered to come out to my care and pull if off for me so I can purchase the part inside the store. They were very quick to give me the number to corporate who basically told me they would replace my windshield wipers or battery but would not do anything else. I just bought a pack of license plate screws while I was out of town and found they didn't fit. I came to this location now that I'm back home just to exchange. First of all he said they didn't have them when the computer clearly said 2 on hand. Then I just had to go find them myself. Now in the craziness of the travel I lost the receipt for the purchase of the first set of screws BUT I paid by debit card and showed on my transactions and clearly stated Advance Auto Parts with the part number, the date, and location of purchase. I had the entire packaging as well as all pieces from the package. He stated that he could have exchanged IF I had bought the original screws from his store.... Ummmm, it's Advance Auto Parts.... Visited this location to check on a red top optimum battery I bought at a different location a week prior. I had the battery tested and it was determined the battery sold wasn't a good one. I left the battery there overnight to get charged. I called the next morning and spoke w Travis who let me know that it had an even lower charge than before I brought it in. I asked that he let other staff know that id be in to pick it up after 5pm. I got there around 6pm and was helped by Christine who was not aware of my situation. Christine was so helpful and went out of her way to make sure I was assisted. She gave me a code and receipt so I could take it to another location to have the battery exchanged. I bought a ratchet and it did not fit my adapter, so I went back to the store the next day. However, they did not let me to return this ratchet because they did not accept returns of products from a specific section. It is unfair since they are the ones who suggested me to try this ratchet and did not tell me this product cannot be returned. Also, there is no statement on the receipt indicating that this is nonrefundable. In my opinion, it is the customer's right to return anything that is not usable to them. Therefore, I am going to file a complaint against the shop at the Consumer Affair Office. read more

Huge attitude displayed by the Lady cashier! I was told they did not have change for a $50 bill even though my purchase was $23. dollars. She said that they are having issues getting cash from the bank. I had to reach 3 feet from behind a waist high barrier to deposit the bill under a 4 inch opening under a plexiglass barrier. Then I looked and found just enough other money, I had 2 Tens and some ones, I had to fling them under the barrier, because it is 3 feet away and it only has a slot of about 4 inches. You have to fling the money and hope it gets through! Its sick! Well! She looked at it and asked the other guy to finish the transaction as if she was insulted by me having to flip the cash 3 feet away under a 4 inch barrier. Total arrogant attitude. Before that I asked for help on an item and they would not get up off there ass to come show me. they yelled across the room at me!! Unreal! I have been there before a bunch of times because they are close and was always wondering how they stay in business at that location. Not the first time I was unhappy with the place. Terrible place!!!!!!!!!! Bad service! Bad attitude! And no intelligence! I called several times asking about returning an item. When I got there they told me that I needed the original card from purchase to return item. Except they never told me that when I called, then when I asked to speak to a manager a girl named Christine said that she was the manager. I find it interesting that even a manager can't seem to help, has poor customer service skills and can't even think to offer another option if they could not refund my money. I had to be the one to suggest store credit. All she offered was a bad attitude. The man standing behind the counter with her was even less helpful. There were only 3 customers in the store and they both acted as if they were so overwhelmed that they couldn't even function. This location is a black eye on the entire Advanced auto parts chain.
