Terrible counter help, He says he was a mechanic for 20 years but did not know how a torque wrench should work. Do not buy a Performance Tool torque wrench made in Taiwan. They are designed wrong and will cause you to strip threads. read more

Hands down the very best service I have ever received at any retail store. I needed a new battery for my corvette and Jay explained all the options, pros and cons to the various price points. I picked the die hard, the price was a value compared to other places that increase pricing on the island. This store can even help install for many models. On top of all this we had hurricane ETA headed right at Key West. His team was working hard and helping people. Thank you so much for having this store in Key West. Amazing team. Special shout out to Lamar - he was not even on the clock and yet when I walked in he left a conversation with another employee and came over to ask if we needed help. When James was finished with the prior customer he passed us on over. In my experience 99.9% of the time if someone is NOT on the clock they will not even acknowledge that there is a customer. WARNING: Advance Auto Parts, store #09306 in Key West Florida is selling defective batteries. I purchased an AutoCraft Powersport E 1 - 2090259 battery for $38.98 on January 29, 2015. It failed almost 1 year to the day. Normally a car / motorcycle / scooter battery lasts anywhere between 3 to 6 years before it needs replacing. This battery failed in less than 13 months. It didn't lose its charge gradually, it failed 100% instantaneously without warning. The owner of my scooter dealership said that they have seen a sudden increase in the amount of defective batteries brought into their service center. All of them had been sold at Advance Auto Parts. When I went to inquire about getting a refund (or even a partial refund) at Advance Auto Parts, the clerk informed me that they had in fact received numerous complaints regarding these batteries, and that there was nothing he could do about it since it was past its 3 month warranty. He also informed me that they were receiving complaints about batteries that had failed after only 6 months. I don't expect batteries to last forever, but 12 months? If it had lasted at least 2 and a half years, I would have dismissed it as just another cheap low quality Chinese product, but due to the fact that it lasted less than 13 months indicates that the part is defective and should have been recalled. Needless to say, I will not be making any future purchases from Advance Auto Parts in Key West. I would advise others to do the same. On vacation we had car battery issues and went to advanced auto parts for a new one. Luckily they had the battery we needed and advertised that they installed batteries for free. Apparently a GMC Tahoe is a "difficult" battery to change and takes too much effort because we were informed that they would not change it out. Just when we thought all hope was lost we decided to try the advanced auto parts in Marathon. Not only did they have a batter but they (the SAME company) offered to put it in! Darrin at the Marathon location was amazing and incredibly helpful! Avoid the Key West loaction!!! read more

I just have to say I have used these guys thru the years and they have always been great! But after being gone for 2 months I came home and my car wouldn't work. After trying to re start and offering to charge my battery overnight they got my car going! Thank you guys that were on 12/04/15 on the evening! You guys MADE my night!! read more

As of March 2019, Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever had in any auto parts store. Employees stand around chatting and never ask if customers need assistance. When you finally get their attention for a brief second to help they have zero knowledge of items that are in stock on the shelves. They're very short with you like they don't have time to help. This has happened on MULTIPLE separate visits. I'll drive a out of my way to shop elsewhere until I hear that management has changed or they've taken some sort of initiative to correct the issue! read more

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. On vacation and in need of a battery because ours had died. We called the store and said we were on our way to get this battery. The internet said they closed at 10-we arrived a few minutes before 9. The employee stated they we closed and after a discussion one of them opened the door. They eventually sell us the battery we need but refuse to install it because they are closed. My boyfriend asks for tools so he can change the battery and then after eating the dead battery out we realize it's the incorrect battery. We then go back in and have the discussion about how it's our fault they sold is the wrong battery. Finally the right battery was given to us and we were able to get the car running. Extremely disrespectful employees and lack the knowledge of how to do their job. Miserable experience. I would recommend Napa auto parts over them any day. read more

Horrible customer service. The 2 times I went in there I felt like I was putting them out just trying to check out. Didn't even ask for help to find a part I needed but not one employee made any attempt to ask if I needed anything. I was the only person in the store and the employees were in the back listening to music and screwing around with each other. The guy at the counter didn't acknowledge me coming in or even when I stood at the counter waiting to pay. I just threw the part on the counter, told him to keep it and walked out. Drove straight to NAPA on Roosevelt and haven't been back since or will I ever go back to advance. read more
