They itemized all sorts of small charges on the bill for things like lube that would be normally be included with the shop labor rates. So it's labor plus a bunch of little charges that eventually add up plus the parts. My recommendation would be to specifically ask if they need to install the "premium" parts or if there is a good quality substitute for the extra expensive premium parts. They installed all premium parts without asking or anything (smart on their part, I don't blame them) so at the end it was much more pricey than expected. I am definitely satisfied with the quality of the work, but it cost me a pretty penny. If money wasn't an issue for me at all, this shop would definitely be my go to for everything from routine to big problems. What I can say is that when you have no idea what's wrong with your car and it's making awful noises, they can quickly pinpoint the issue and get you back on the road in no time. So if a higher price point isn't an issue, and the priority is to fix the issue and fix it RIGHT, Whalen is definitely a great choice.

Needed gas today, having come up to spend the day running Uber rides all over Albany (as an Uber…read moreDriver coming from Dutchess County), and when I noticed this Sunoco within a half block of the drop-off point of one of my rides near 1pm today, I had to get gas. I would have liked to have gotten gas at the Stewarts near where I picked up the rider, but when I noticed this place, I chose to get it here anyways. Heck, I was coming here with my GasBuddy card in hand (using this card gets me 5 cents off per gallon) and when you couple that with cheaper price per gallon than those nearer me, this doesn't depress me at all. (Knowing of a problem with running GasBuddy card transactions inside, I knew that using the card at the pump was a good transaction). I really don't know why people see this place as being that bad. Seeing it from the outside, didn't show it as too bad. I mean, it wasn't too clean, but from what I needed it for, it got the job done. If I had had my family members Price Chopper card with me, what could I have saved on top of my 5 cents per gallon from my GasBuddy card? Seriously? Can customers be able to answer an alternate ID with a phone number at the pump instead if they don't have their card with them? I could have answered that and saved myself duly here, but no: not yet is this in place.
