Joey and her staff are amazing! I completely trust her judgement on what I could, should do to help me age gracefully!

WHY I DO NOT RECOMMEND Against my better judgement I…read morefollowed my Dermatologists recommendation (Dr. Anderson in New Braunfels TX) to have a very small bump on my nose removed through Mohs surgery by Dr. Michael Sorace in April of 2022. I had the small bump for years and was not noticeable. I should have reconsidered after my first consultation with Dr. Sorace when he tried to use some sort of fear factor and said "you need to get this done as soon as possible as your nose may fall off". I kid you not. I just looked incredulously at him and called him on that announcement, and he just chuckled. Anyway, after several weeks passed, I made an appointment for the procedure on a Friday as that was the only day he spent in New Braunfels. What I thought was going to happen and what took place were two different things. Instead of removing the small bump they laid open my entire nose. No one explained exactly what would take place beforehand or would have canceled the entire procedure! I could elaborate more but after almost two years my nose has never been the same and continues to weep!! Make sure you ask all the right questions and are satisfied that you know Exactly what is being done. I also agree with most of the other posts on this site concerning this practice.

I have been treated by this dermatologist for both basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. the care…read moreI received was appropriate in my opinion, BUT beware of these issues. The staff does all the local injections for the doctor. the doctor who does the actual cutting and diagnosing in the Mohs procedure was not the doctor closing the wound. the initial office visit for screening and biopsy of the area I brought to his attention. A phone call days later to schedule a surgery time. Then, a surgery date with first come, first served on that surgery day with all patients for surgery showing up at the same time, 8AM. the waiting room was very crowded with people standing at times because there were not enough chairs. after cutting away the lesion, I was sent back to the waiting area until a diagnosis was finished, and next step determined. after several rounds of this, I was finally free of the cancer, and called back to the exam room where another doctor introduced himself and closed the wound. the billing came for the intial office visit, the second visit for surgery, closure, and a second office visit for the second doctor. the insurance I presented to them for Blue Cross and Medicare was not appropriately billed. When I attempted to call and write to the billing department, they answered my call on the first attempt and left a message, but no subsequent attempts to communicate after repeat phone messages left with them and letters mailed mailed to them with their invoices. I have paid them, but my insurance was not billed properly. and I'm out of pocket because of their incompetence, arrogance, and threats to go to collection. Paul V., boerne, tx
