However, she recently moved to Santa Clarita to be closer to us and we took her to this office today. According to her, this is the nicest, most professional and friendly office staff with all the up-to date equipment. Her hearing aid stopped working. It was purchased at a different audiology department. Audiology Associates sent the hearing aid out for repairs and contacted the previous business where it was purchased to get the most up to date records. The staff communicated regularly with my mother-in-law and kept her informed during the entire process. The hearing aid was fixed a week sooner than expected. It was very easy to make the appointments. Once the new settings were dialed in they told her she could come in any time without an appointment for any type of adjustments. I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to work with such a professional and friendly business.

I got a voice mail that accused me of"falsely not giving me information"I don't even know what the heck that means. In fact I still have it.Eventually I spoke with her and explained that I didn't remember her saying all this. She was very adamant to say she explained all this and how busy she's been all day. Most professionals would've said something like,I "I apologize for the misunderstanding if I wasn't clear in my explanation "She was very quick to wrong me.It feels like I got scolded. She was defensive, reactive, curt and lacked customer service.Needless to say we'll take our $2,200 to Audiologist Ass.In addition I informed my mothers insurance as I needed them to approve the new appointment. They apologized and said it would be noted in their files.I must add the ladies at the front desk were nice.

After learning that I've lost about 30% of my hearing in both ears, Dr. John carefully explained what that meant and walked me through which hearing aids would be most beneficial for me, answering all my questions without ever making me feel rushed. I wasn't ready to order right away since I had a vacation coming up, so I waited. In the meantime I did a little research and later called the office with a few more questions. I reached a recording and didn't leave a message, planning to call back later- but within seconds of hanging up, the office called me back! That level of attentiveness really stood out to me. Everyone I spoke with was kind and helpful, and all my questions were answered clearly. I ended up ordering my hearing aids and got them a little over a week ago. Dr John helped with the App and set a couple things up. They are easy to put on and getting used to them was actually very easy. I don't wear them all the time but so far, so good. I'd definitely recommend Ascent Hearing based on my experience

The appointment scheduler started setting up a new patient profile, but midway through, I asked her to let me know what availability they had before we were added as a new patient. She said he could be seen this week, but Dr Vadapalli requires a separate hearing test before the first doctor visit, and if it's not covered by insurance, it can cost $250 to $500 in addition to the visit. I told her that makes no sense to do a hearing test before his ears were cleaned out, instead of after, because I'd want to know if his hearing was affected AFTER any wax buildup was flushed. I said I would agree to a same day hearing test, but wanted it done after the visit, because any wax should be cleaned first, and I'd want to know if we were in network prior. The policy was strict, but only with that doctor, so I asked to make an appointment with another doctor, instead, who wasn't available until next week. As she's completing the patient profile, I started reading through these reviews, so I asked to let me know if we were in network. I gave her our insurance information, and she confirmed we were in network for the doctor visit, but someone else would call me back to let me know if a hearing test would be in network. I asked her if they charged $250 instead of the insurance copayment, and she said they did not. After the new patient profile was completed, and we'd made the appointment, she said I had to give my credit card information. I told her I'd pay the copay when I arrived, but was not leaving my financial info. She said the card was needed to charge a $250 deposit, which would be refunded when insurance paid. I asked why she'd just told me they don't charge $250, only to say they actually do charge $250, and that she'd already confirmed I was in network. She said their policy is strict. I actually would be charged $250, before the visit. I cancelled the appointment. I have no idea how the doctors themselves are, but there are way too many red flags with their billing, and that required hearing test before blocked ears were cleaned.

Update: I filed a complaint with Kaiser for referring me to a place that commits fraud and they reimbursed me for the $60 this place ended up charging me for a legitimate cancelation excuse. If you were referred to this place by your medical doctor, file a grievance or complaint with them and they might be able to pay the fees, reimburse you or stop contracting with small talk therapy so they can stop charging people illegally. Life happens people need to cancel and the least that can be done, is to give people an opportunity to reschedule once without charging them any fees!
