I took my car here for a routine service a few months ago when the dealership was quoting an arm and a leg. A few weeks ago, my car was acting up, and without hesitation, I took it straight back here. Reviews really are all that. Fair, transparent, and attentive. Service Manager (Zach) is awesome and communicated frequently and friendly while we were trying to figure out my extended warranty. Kyle is awesome. Great communication and speedy service. They really know Minis. Labor and original diagnostic is $100.00 cheaper per hour compared to Mini dealership. The shop is clean, professional and customer oriented. From now on I will go there for all my services, repairs, oil changes, and tire rotations (which are included with oil changes). They will top off your oil for free in between oil changes. I emailed all my friends with German cars and urged them to go to Advanced Autowerks when their cars were past warranty. I've been searching for a great mechanic who knows Minis and I am so grateful I found Advance Autowerks. I hate car stuff and love being able to just leave it to their care. They will send me email reminders when I need an oil change or routing service. I am a new life long customer! :) read more

My folks came to visit from the east coast and their Allroad was showing a periodic warning light. I had to take down my previous glowing review because I was paranoid about Royal Motors reading it. I had semi-dissed them and then, lo and behold, my 2001 Audi needs some random part that I can only get from them. Sigh. Bad timing, as my 2001 Audi then needed repairs Royal wanted to do. Their estimate was too high, so I said I would think about it and took it to Advanced the next day. Randy and his crew completed the repairs (which were extensive) with such amazing customer service and professionalism that I'm just going to keep it at that. Simply the best around. Hats off to Randy and the crew at Advanced! I've been taking my 1996 Jetta to this top-notch shop for years. Always professional, courteous and honest. They offer pickup and dropoff service which makes dropping off your car for service a breeze. Their prices are very reasonable and much lower than other VW repair shops in the area. On one occasion they even performed a additional complimentary service on top of what I brought my car in for. In my book, it doesn't get any better than that for an auto repair shop! read more

This was my first time here. All around helpful, thoughtful, and caring service. Pricing is a little more than a cheap shop but much less than a dealer. You get what you pay for. I had a dead battery down the street (from the mission location). They walked down with a jump box and jumped my car while alerting the dogpatch location (that does BMW) I was on the way. The took my car immediately and even paid for my uber home. They fixed it promptly at a fair price and took care of me along the way (Philz coffee AND a thorough cleaning). The speedometer issue with my Eurovan had been going on for 6 months. More than one mechanic had tried to identify and fix the issue but at the end nothing would change. Over and over again. Shane from Advanced Autowerks identified the incorrectly connected live wire from the speed sensor to the battery of the Eurovan and fixed it by correctly and properly connecting it to the right source and not to the battery. I have a 2007 Audi A3 and i am so glad i found Advanced Autowork few years ago. This is the place to go to get your car serviced, especially if you want to keep your car for a long time. They have friendly and knowledgable staff and reasonable price. My car always comes home like a brand new car after every service. Zach and his team are super detail oriented and very knowledgable with cars. they only recommend what is best for the car and the customer. Both my headlights were out on my VW. I pulled into Advanced Autowerks and within 10 minutes they were both replaced and working and they even offered to do it for free (which I refused because of how pleased I was with the service). The interior and office area was new and clean and I was offered a drink (of which there were a lot to choose from). I would def come back if I have any other issues. These guys fixed up my car after wasting hundreds of dollars on mechanics that didn't do anything. They are on the expensive side, but much cheaper than paying someone to not fix my car at all. These guys are really great. They keep our '05 Jetta TDI, now in the hands of our teen driver, going strong. Great communication, great service, taxi fare or MUNI fare to get you home or to work. They'll replace a headlight or wiper while you wait. They didn't build your stylish car (Audi, VW, Mini) that needs constant and expensive repair but they will keep it running beautifully. read more

Jason and his crew at AA are top notch. After years of bad repairs from Royal Motors I finally gave up and gave AA a try. I've never looked back and wish I'd done it sooner. They kept my '96 GTI on the road and running in great condition for years past its prime. The recent brake replacement was delivered at a fair price on time and at the price originally quoted. Customer service was excellent.

Fixed my problem car that no one else could. Randy is super friendly, mildly attractive, and even worked with me on the pricing. The most honest shop I have ever been to. They don't "over recommend" that you fix things that aren't broken and they'll even take you where you need to go. I got tired of paying ridiculous amounts for basic services at the SF VW dealer. Thankfully I came across these guys a few months back and have now visited Advanced 3 times (2 oil changes and my 20K service). These guys are honest and actually use Mobil 1 oil - which meets the standards in the VW owners manual - unlike the dealerships that use castrol ?!? Sometimes I have to wait a week for an appointment but not a big deal and definitely worth it ! read more

I have two Audis and have been going to these guys for years based on recommendations from a couple coworkers who have been going here for even more years. I've been very satisfied with the quality and straightforwardness (is that a word?) of Randy/Aaron and the crew. They want you back. They don't fix things that don't need to be fixed. And they have saved me money by sending me away. I bought a used Audi from a friend, and a couple thousand miles later, the timing belt went, taking the valves with them. Well as it turns out my friend had just had the belt replaced, but it was out of warranty on a technicality. Advanced advised me to go to the other shop and lean on them and that turned a $7000 job into a $3500 one. Yeah, it sucked big time but it could have been worse. Oh and by the way, get your timing belt changed early. You don't want a broken timing belt, believe me. (Why do they make engines with timing belts anyway? Apparently newer cars are going back to chains, wish they had done that years ago.) read more

Advanced Autowerks is awesome. I am on an around the country road trip with my VW jetta and had some lights pop up on the dash. Jason was quick to plug in his computer and give me the low down. He cleared all the fault codes and told me to drive around a few days and see if the lights come back on. They did and when I returned I was greeted with more prompt service. The only bad problem that came up was my brake lights were out. Toby had some bulbs installed in a jiffy at no charge and aired my tires and greased my squeaky doors. The latter isn't really a complaint - I will email them or call them back myself - but it's good to know what to expect. My proclivity toward Audi vehicles led me to Randy and the super awesome crew at Advanced. I have taken at least 4 vehicles to them for all of the work that they needed. Our S8 needed some serious love and was with them for a few weeks. Updates were plenty and the car came out of the shop running better than it had since we bought it (used) at a price that was very fair from what I saw doing research on forums etc. I believe there were custom parts made or modified to get it to that condition. Yes! Now with a child its no more S8 as we've moved to the other end of the spectrum and have had 2 diesel SUVs that have been cared for by Advanced. They may not be for everyone (somehow) but if you enjoy quick friendly communication, top notch honest repair and maintenance work, a super clean shop and a team of good humored friendly professionals then you should give them a call! read more
