We are all familiar with TV program, the A Team. But how many of us have met any of them personally. Well I have been very fortunate to meet the true AAAA Team at Metric Motors. This opportunity have been extremely rewarding for me. I once own a Mercedes, It took me two years to find a repair shop that could service my car without trying to scam me. That Also include dealers throughout the Bay Area. I finally found one repair shop near my home that I was happy with. Parked in front of my house my car was hit, a total lost. I purchase a BMW. I needed the car to be checked, my repairman politely inform me that their shop only specialize in Mercedes and Porsche. Here I go again looking for a shop that could be trusted. I try all the others and including dealers, same story. Schemer's only interest in taking you for what they can get. Searching the internet I came across Metric Motors. I could not believe what I was reading. I drop by the shop and the first person I met was Rob, I began to tell him of my problems and experience with other shops. If I was him I would have kicked me out. Cause I was so impolite. Rob, the front guy was very polite in explaining what they do. I could not believe what I was hearing. He was so understanding of my problems and what my car needed and assured me that everything would be taken care of. I share with him that the dealer where I purchase the car was playing games concerning the warranty, so I might have to pay for the service, he told me not to worry he would handle that also. Told me when I was to bring it in and when it would be ready. On time he called, my car was ready. He did exactly what he said, the dealer paid for the repair, everything he said was true. And what my car would need later on. This guy taught me about true customer service and hospitality, he has been very informative and attentive to all my auto needs. This is the best and true only auto shop I've ever been to. Rob and the other team members could teach other shops throughout the bay area what technician, knowledge, and professionalism is all about. Its clear they want lifetime clients. Well Rob, and the other AAAA team members you got me. Wherever you guys go I go. Oh! since my wonderful experience with Rob and the A team I have sent my other family members to Metric Motors. Here's my story: I used to take my BMW to Metric Motors but stopped based on an experience I had there a couple of years ago. My car over heated a yesterday (Sunday) and knowing it would tough finding a shop open, I called a couple different places only to get their answering machines. I looked up Metric Motors on my iPhone and couldn't believe the reviews they were getting. I called (remember this was a Sunday afternoon), and someone actually answered. They too were not open, but Raul (the service manager) said no worries and that someone would meet me at the shop. I limped my car to the shop and Tom was there to receive my car. Tom apparently is the new owner and I began to tell him my story on why I hadn't been back. He was sympathetic and he told me his story about leaving corporate life and how he bought the shop from the old owner and the things he's done to change the business to become better at serving his customers. He locked up my car and then drove me home! At that point, I did believe the reviews I read. I'm just getting back from picking up my car. Turns out a cooling hose burst and needed to be replaced. They fixed my car, washed it, got it back to me in less than a day and bill was 66 bucks! I was really worried and thought it might be hundreds of dollars, but was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly pleased with the service I received. Way to go Tom! Metric Motors is a breath of fresh air, as far as mechanical shops are concerned. Being female, I've always wondered if I was being taken advantage of when it came time to have my car serviced. Not so with Metric Motors. Referred by my neighbor I called to make an appointment because there was a weird noise coming from under my car and I wanted to get it checked out without going to the Audi Dealer and having to wait for days to get it back and then to pay through the nose for whatever they found wrong. Raul, the guy at the counter was quite friendly and offered to take a quick spin with me in the car so that I could point out what I was hearing. No other mechanic has ever done that for me. We drove around the block and he motioned that it sounded like it might be an exhaust component that was loose or something. I left the car and agreed to an inspection/diagnostic fee of around $62., and that he would call me with his assessment in a few hours. Less than an hour went by and he called to let me know that one of the muffler mounts was broken and needed to be replaced for a charge of $18. I agreed. When I picked up the car he waived the inspection fee because he said it was very obvious and took less than a minute to make sure that was the issue. I am so happy with my experience at Metric Motors. I highly recommend them. Trustworthy, no-nonsense but friendly attitude will keep me coming back. Thanks Metric Motors! read more

IF you have a German car (heck ..if you have a CAR), this is the place you should be going. Metric Motors, the owner Tom, and the frontman guy Raul, ... these guys are running a shop reminiscent of what you might see in a small town in the 50's. I had an issue with my car and took it into Royal Motor Sales (big mistake). After Royal had broken several things on the car, I started calling around and was in need of someone who could fix a broken passenger window. I was in a huge hurry since I was supposed to be heading to Yosemite the next morning. Raul totally squeezed me into the schedule and got me going again by 10:00 the next morning. I won't elaborate too much for the sake of wordiness (b/c I want people to actually READ how great these guys are).... but lets just say that these guys go above and beyond. I felt like a real human being with specific issues with my car and I wasn't just a credit card. That's totally unheard of in today's nature of business. These guys are a breath of fresh air in a world where you are only as worthy as the bottom line on your bank statement. The guys at Royal Motors barely even looked at me when talking to me... but yet I feel like Tom and the guys at Metric are now people I could go have drinks with and call friends. Metric Motors has won me over. I've got a Mercedes Benz ML350 that I'm very picky about. I'd been taking my car to the dealer and one other shop in San Francisco, but I never got the attention I thought I deserved for spending my hard earned money. I began to search for a new mechanic when I read some nice reviews about Metric Motors. I called to check on the price for a 70K mile service and it was cheaper than the dealer. I don't through money around, but I don't want the "cheapest" job either, so I was a little leery at first. I called my old shop and there price was cheaper than Metric Motors, but I just wasn't completely satisfied with there service, so I may an appointed with Metric Motors. I was impressed right off the bat. Raul was very attentive and made me feel comfortable. They called a cab for me - that was nice because I hate taking MUNI. When I returned to pick up the car, it was sparkling clean and ready to go. Raul listed out a few items that needed to be addressed in the future, but was not pushy about it like my old shop. I received a courtesy call 3 days later. That is great customer service. Glad to have found this shop and glad to recommend them. read more

These guys are awesome. My car recently quit on me on a Sunday. Knowing that they weren't open on the weekend, I called and left them a message stating that I had left my car in front of their driveway, and that I would be there early Monday morning to deal with it. About 30 minutes after I called, Raul called to tell me that he didn't feel good about me leaving the car overnight outside the shop because it might get broken into. Tom (the owner) came over to my house that night to pick up my keys, then went to push the car into the shop with Raul. Keep in mind that this was on a Sunday night, and they didn't even let me help them move the car... My car ended up needing some pretty major surgery, but both Raul and Tom did an excellent job of informing me of my options. When I went to pick up the car, I found Tom buffing out a big scratch on the fender that I thought would take some moderate body work. He didn't charge me for it--just fixed it for me because he felt like it! I really appreciate the "above and beyond" service attitude of this shop, and will definitely stick with them! read more

I usually don't ever write reviews except for the rare occasion when I've received terrible service, particularly at restaurants. This, however, is a situation where I am more than slightly compelled to actually make the effort in writing a review for service I received. The people at Metric Motors are to be recognized, not only for their knowledge and tradesmanship in completing mechanical work, but as well for their outstanding customer service. I drive a Porsche and recently had brakes and clutch work done at Metric Motors. Not only were they less expensive than Rector Porsche, where I used to take my car, but I received customer service like I've never had before at a mechanical shop. I really like these guys. They took very good care of me and I like the fact they are full service shop. They even took me to work! They fixed the clutch in my Beetle for about what other shops were going to charge me, but I liked how courteous and friendly the guy was on the phone and that their warranty was twice as long as what anyone else's was that I called including the dealer. Now that's standing behind their work. I asked them a bunch of questions and they answered everyone and explained in great detail the condition of my car. They then called a few days after I got my car back to make sure everything was OK and that I was fully satisfied. I really appreciated that. Now that's taking good care of your customers. I will continue to have my Beetle worked on at Metric Motors and highly recommend them. read more

I've been going to Metric Motors for awhile now. Tom and his team are really great. Finding a trustworthy mechanic/technician is a daunting task, but took a chance on them based on the solid reviews on Yelp. My experience has been great so far. Tom and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional. They went the extra mile to make sure things are thoroughly explained and that I was comfortable with everything that was being work on. They let me bring my own parts in and also gave me solid prices on parts they sourced. Tom is also very budget conscious. In my case he explained to me the things that needed to be addressed immediately and other things that could wait or to keep an eye on. I VERY HIGHLY recommend Jose & Metric Motors for anyone looking for an honest, affordable and dependable service shop to go to. After a really bad experience at the dealer, I took a chance on Metric Motors to tell me like it is and give me a fair assessment of what I needed to take care of on my 2011 BMW. I take excellent care of this car and they recognized it, but also gave me a very fair price on the work that needed to be done. The initial repair work for a leak was done quickly, on time and with no other "hidden" things wrong diagnosed with the car, unlike previous experiences with other folks. Found Metric Motors on-line while checking out reviews of shops. I emailed them about a few services I needed done on my V-dub that the dealer and one other shop wanted to charge me over $1000 for. Metric Motors quoted me $790 - that's over a 20% savings with the exact same factory parts. Had the work done and I'm really happy I went with them. They did a full vehicle inspection for free and listed out a few recommendations. I appreciated knowing the condition of my car and will schedule an appointment to get the other stuff done when I get my refund check from the feds! The work done here is not bad but nothing to crow about - I had a clutch replaced and front axle on VW Paasat but it sure was atleast five hundreds more expensive and two days and I had to get another rental car for those days on my own money, maybe because I mentioned that I had saved two plus Gs on buying my car, made the repairs that much. Went to Exclusively German at Milpitas and my 10 yr old car was purring like a kitten. The repairs running into the thousands here might seem like small change if you have already brought an expensive European car like BW or Audi and have run out of warranties at the dealer but not for a lower end European car like VW Passat. read more

These guys took care of my M5 after the dealer wanted 5x more for the repair. They are friendly, fast, and know what they are talking about. Andy, the owner, walked me through the check engine light issue on my car, showed me pictures of the part that failed, and explained why the repair would take as long as it did. Owning an M car I expect any performance related parts on the car to cost big money, but Andy literally gave me an estimate that was 1/5 what SF BMW gave me, and when the job was done he knocked an additional $30 off because they only bill for the time they take to do the job. I have a 98 Porsche Boxster that developed a blinking check-engine light related problem so I brought it to Metric Motors for the first time, and I have to say all the reviews below are right-on-the-money. Tom the owner is by far the best around when it comes to customer service, and he and his guys provide quality repairs at reasonable prices. No doubt about it - these guys are great! I've been taking my Audi A4 there for couple of years now and I just had it in the garage for a brake job. Raul is so courteous and friendly. It seems every time I'm in there they educate me on my car and how best to take care of it.
