First, making an appointment was super simple. The shop was easy to get to, and Asim was extremely knowledgeable and professional. I got a low brake fluid warning on my dashboard while parked and again while driving downhill, so I brought my car in to have it checked. I am severely delinquent in writing this review but I still wanted to write it. I went to Just Brakes because I was having an issue and my regular mechanic was closed. He inspected my brakes and showed me how the issue I was having was related to an issue with the brake job done on my car and suggested I go back to my mechanic to fix it. I did that and mechanic did it without additional cost. Had I not gone here first, my mechanic wouldn't have taken responsibility for the problem. I've had the brake pads and rotors for my 10 year old Toyota changed here. Asim is a one man show. He's very accommodating, and I've been able to get an appointment for the very next day whenever I've called. Probably most importantly though (especially if you're a woman like me -- who doesn't know a whole lot about cars), he is honest, and that is more than reason enough to give him your business. When my rear brakes had been squeaking for a week, I brought my car in to him for a free inspection. I thought maybe my rotors needed to be changed? He took a look and he determined that my rear rotors were fine, and my brake pads didn't need changing. He told me the squeaking was likely due to the iffy quality of my brake pads though. I told him I'd like to have the brake pads changed just so I could actually tell when something was wrong rather than being unsure if a squeak was innocuous. He then described to me what a squeak indicative of necessary repair/replacement would sound like; when, in the braking motion, the sound would occur; and the sounds length of duration. Great knowledge for the future. Afterwards he asked if I was sure I wanted my brake pads changed. I opted to have them changed cuz the squeaking was driving me crazy. Anyway, he's a speedy worker (done in an hour), did a great job, and my ears were grateful that he stopped the squeaking. TL;DR: honest, knowledgeable man who does good, fast work. I was looking for a second opinion on my brakes after the dealership I usually take our car to for maintenance gave me some crazy quote. I'd see so many highly positive reviews of Just Brakes and decided to give them a call and check it out. I'm really glad I did. I have a 2023 cx5 and the dealer suggested for two front brake pad change & quoted me more than $600. I wanted a second opinion and went to Just Brakes b/c they have a great online review. The mechanic (Asim) was very transparent and honest. He showed me the status of the brake pads and told me I don't need to change them now, the pads are good for additional 5K -7K miles and after doing all this he didn't charge me anything. Also he quoted me less than half of the dealer for future repair. He is the most transparent and honest mechanic I ever seen. The guy working was AWESOME. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. PARTICULARLY FOR WOMEN, because, generally, when it comes to vehicles, we get screwed. He isn't gonna screw you, ladies. He'll treat you like you are a human, which, let's be honest--is all we're asking for. I had heard some weird metallic stuffs happening on my way back to the bay from Clearlake (a drive that I am currently doing at least 2-3x monthly, now), and knew that I hadn't replaced my brakes since I bought my used vehicle, so assumed that was my problem. Called at 9:03 on SUPERBOWL SUNDAY, and he suggested that I bring my vehicle down to have it looked at. Got my car up, took all the tires off, and brought me back to show me that my rear brakes still had plenty of life (but, my drivers' sideways slightly more worn than passenger side), but my front end def needed replacement and explained the weird metallic sound that I heard (which wasn't the normal grinding sound you would expect from brakes, but more of a clanging sound). Quoted me a SUPER FAIR price (what you would expect for parts, plus an incredibly reasonable labor fee), and said it would take 45min-hour. He had it done in 30 minutes. I'm a female. I do know A BIT about cars.... Generally enough to know when I'm being dicked around. There was no dicking around here. I REALLY APPRECIATED the fact that he wanted to show me what was going on.....why my back brakes were fine, and my front brakes were not. I had my brakes done at another place years ago, and I knew as soon as I started to drive away, that the brakes needed to be bled. I didn't even get out the parking lot, and knew it. Reparked, told them as much, and the owner informed me that he had PERSONALLY test driven my car, and it was fine....so I had to (terrified, mind you. The brakes DESPERATELY needed to be blsd, and it was ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE to drive if as it was) drive to mechanic friend of mine, so he could test drive it, and verify that, yes, THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE BLED, so that I could then drive BACK and insist that it be done. This was a completely different experience. He didn't care where my knowledge was. He didn't care that I was a chick. He wanted to make sure I knew what I needed and why. And if I had had any questions or concerns, I believe he would have have listened and addressed them. read more

There is a reason this business has 5 stars. The owner is honest and extremely knowledgeable. My brakes were squeaking in the mornings so I took it in. He looked at my brakes and said the pads were fine, that I would receive a notice when my break pads needed replacing, and my car just squeaks when it is warming up. I noticed this was the case. He said he could replace them if it was really bothering me but I would probably hear if after they were replaced. I thanked him and told him I would be back when they need to be replaced.
