I had an amazing low voltage company in LA that I trusted for years, so I was hoping that we could find someone here that we could trust in the same capacity. After meeting with him and then working with him on the WIFI job, we are so happy and grateful for finding him! He is so professional, kind, communicative, knowledgable, and reliable. He is very thorough and detail oriented and his prices are very fair as well. We are now hiring him to do a full camera install on the property, and will be hiring him for any future low voltage needs. I can't say enough positive words about his work ethic, and after going through so much stress this year with losing everything, working with him has been such an easy and calm experience.

My Lorex smart doorbell stopped working: my SD cards got corrupted multiple times and the…read moremechanical chime in my house stopped ringing. I called Lorex; they said I should have an electrician come to my house. I had the electrician who installed the wiring in my house (when it was built) come; he couldn't figure out the problem. Also, I had wired security cameras built into the house, but didn't know how to connect the NVR (partly because I couldn't identify a connection to my router). For both issues, I was frustrated, and didn't know who could help. AI helped me find Smart Wires. Regarding the security cameras, Alex was able to look in my attic to identify how to connect to my router. That enabled him to set up my NVR. Helpfully, he even set up my security cameras on the Lorex app; it enabled him to demonstrate that the work was done correctly, but it also saved me a lot of time because Alex knew his was around the app much better than I do. Regarding the doorbell, after a lengthy diagnostic (checking the wiring, the transformer, the voltage, and that the wiring was able to ring the mechanical chime when the doorbell was not involved), Alex was able to confirm that my doorbell was faulty. I bought a replacement, and Smart Wires helpfully (remarkably) sent Alex back to install the doorbell at no additional charge (including, again, the app setup, saving me some additional time and inconvenience). Alex made interesting and helpful recommendations while here. He mentioned that they could connect my security cameras directly to my TV. I asked him about potentially adding an additional security camera outside: he made recommendations regarding the Lorex camera I should buy (including following up immediately with links), and proposed where to install it for enhanced security. Alex mentioned that Smart Wires has a general contracting license, if needed they punch through my dry wall to run the needed wires for the camera, and then patch everything back up good as new. I am extremely impressed and pleased with the service I received. I will proactively look to Smart Wires for any smart home type installations going forward, and would recommend them without reservations.

After all my questions and inquiries, I was able to schedule our install within a few days. I'm not a paranoid person, but I also know that sh*t can happen to anyone. I also don't want to be that person that didn't think anything would ever happen to them and then it does. I'd rather keep my home, family, pup safe and be prepared. If you've been on the fence about getting a security system, just do it. The extra $49 a month is worth the peace of mind. Make sure you ask all the questions and see if they have any specials or promotions. Also-install guy, Pat, was super friendly, professional, and fast with the install.

Recommendation: Avoid doing business w/First Alarm. Add this one star review to all the others…read moreabout this business. I don't believe I've ever written a 1-star review before. My company paid a significant upfront sum to bring in First Alarm to handle our residential security system. From the outset, there were issues with sensors not working. Any request to get these small issues, most of which should have been addressed during the initial setup, were met with "that will cost you" responses. Eventually, we needed to sell our house. As we called each service provider (e.g. Comcast, AT&T, PG&E, Cal Water, etc.) to turn off our service, all handled it seamlessly and without charge. Except First Alarm. First Alarm charged us for more than a year of unused service (over $1K) even though we were not going to be living in the house (so there would be no cost to them) and my company had paid for all the upfront work. I called and wrote asking First Alarm to reconsider in light of the situation. They said "no" at every turn and decided yet another dissatisfied customer was worth the extra revenue. Buyer beware.

No show at first appointment I moved on to AAA for same service and never looked back.read more
