Went in to get one of my two front teeth fixed. Mind you, the other front tooth had already been chipped and fixed. The other now chipped for the first time. The dentist shaved down a bottom tooth even when I mentioned this was not the reason for the tooth chipping. Completely disregarded anything I had to say and spoke to me as if I was an uneducated child that couldn't comprehend the sorcery he was about to perform. Now, the shaved tooth is razor sharp. Having the other front tooth previously chip, the respective bottom tooth was not shaved down. My bottom teeth are uneven and the tooth is significantly smaller (both at the top and in the front, compliments of the "minor adjustment"), even though I was reassured it wouldn't be. The top tooth has once again chipped no more than a week later. The dentist stated he would be more "aggressive" if this were to happen. Since I went in with one tooth issue and left with two, I'm going to have to respectfully pass on this "aggressive" procedure. I was told the previous was minor so aggressive makes me fear what that procedure would hold in store for me. Stating this would have been the course of other dentists begs to question why my other tooth is still holding strong and the unnecessary requirement to shave down the bottom. Nearly identical scenarios, different dentists. I now have two issues plaguing me daily as a result of this visit. As I was trying to gather myself in my car, upset about my uneven and smaller bottom tooth, along with the top. The dentist knocked on my window, having followed me to my car to only again state that I probably couldn't understand what was done. It was very uncomfortable to have him follow me into the parking lot and confront me. Demeaning to say the least and insulting to my intelligence. Maybe, I don't fully understand his profession but to speak to someone as if they are ignorant or brainless was very unprofessional. I would not want to step foot in there again. Passive aggressive comments about people's intelligence compared to your superior intellect is not cool. Lastly, it took several calls before the office got back to me. @ read more

Fantastic. I haven't seen him in over 2 years and you know pandemic and all, went there today in the grayslake office on Washington street, I don't know if another one, unless you're working from home now? it looks like they moved out but they still have the phone number and name etching on the main door. They couldn't have left long ago. Just a note for FedEx and no change address indication. I left a call for an emergency, we'll see if they get back to me (they did last year around July, i needed some paperwork). The last review here is from December of 2020, so am a bit worried. Dr. Martinez is an incredible dentist! I have been a patient for a few years now and transferred care when I needed a dental implant/tooth placement in one of my front teeth. I have been a patient of Dr. Martinez since 1992! He has always been kind, thorough, and a master of his profession. He makes your crown while you are waiting which eliminates multiple trips and temporary crowns. Dr. Martinez is an artisan of the tooth. He creates his own crowns on the same visit. He is extremely thorough. I trust that he has the knowledge and skill to deliver a cutting edge tooth experience. He travels around the globe learning new techniques and training other dentists. He is kind and gentle. Stephanie is the office manager and is compassionate, knowledgeable and detail oriented. I am always greeted with enthusiasm, do not wait for more than a few minutes and when I have had emergencies, chipped tooth, pain, etc, they fit me in. I went to Rey Martinez only once, was going to start as a new patient there but I didn't care for the front desk at all, that's a story in itself. The point is I most certainly made the correct decision. I went to him because an old crown had fallen out, he re-cemented it back in & said it should be fine. I have had problems on & off with that side of my mouth, pain if I would eat anything you have to chew at all, etc a couple years later & I finally found an amazing dentist office & I mention to this dentist I'm having trouble over on that side even more & I didn't realize it was with that same tooth, I wasn't sure which tooth exactly was causing the trouble. My new dds said tooth #3 the crown is placed wrong (yep that is the tooth Rey Martinez put back in! Come to find out when my dentist went to replace the crown with a new one the gum was growing under the crown!! My dentist said he had to cut gum away to make it fit right & I will be sore for a couple weeks, and I am alright! I cannot believe this dentist doesn't know how to re cement a crown, now I suffer the consequences & thank goodness my dentist found this. Stay far away, I warned you! read more
