This place is 5 star ! Looks like a hotel with large gym and full time nursing staff . Has a beautiful dining room complete with crystal chandeliers! Physical therapists and occupational therapists are excellent to get patients back to normal quickly. Private rooms with en-suite bathroom, complete with robes! Visited a friend here who's doing some rehab after surgery. Very nice place seems comfortable. She enjoys the food and staff. Even has a salon for patients. Night I was there they showed a movie and had popcorn and root beer floats. Considered a skilled nursing/rehab facility. Hope she gets out soon! read more

I had a scheduled appointment a few weeks ago, and was waiting to hear back about the results. Nervous, and very anxious to have my thyroid biopsied.. The physician supervised the nurse who performed the biopsy..( I would have preferred knowing that ahead of time).. I did ask about the procedure, but misheard when they stated there would be one injection for the numbing.. During the procedure, I was thinking there's a lot of injections for numbing, but it was actually the biopsy.. and I was done! Results came back fairly quickly and all benign.. ! read more

Neighbor was housed here twice - the first time they took wonderful care of her (it was in Dec 2020) - she made an amazing recovery, the staff was great, PT was tremendous Fast forward to her care in March 2024... they kind of evicted her - sent her home before she could take care of herself (she lives alone - newish to the area so no network of friends or family) - she sat on the couch in the dark because she couldn't walk yet, shivering because she couldn't get up to turn on the heater - she was finally able to call 911 and get back to the hospital where they then sent her to a different rehab center. I don't care what the protocols are, they should never send somebody home where there is no care if they can't take care of themselves. So many horrible things could have happened to this lady after being released from their care before she was ready. I would never send anybody here again and I recommend you stay far far away until they learn how to take care of people and make sure it's safe to send them home instead of just looking at the bottom line - disgusting place read more

My 87 year old mom was admitted yesterday for advanced skilled nursing care after a full knee replacement surgery. She was given 1/2 a dose of pain medication and was to be on an every 4 hour schedule. She didn't receive the next dose for 7 hours !! My husband had an acute gout flare up last week and was unable to get out of bed. To make a long story short, he ended up at Advanced Health Care. I have to say that all the staff were really professional and helpful. From Serena who was the first person that I talked to when working on getting him admitted to Lisa and Chef Bill in Dietary, who took great care in making sure his diet was compliant to help his gout flare up. Hannah who is the Director of Nursing was also super helpful. He received PT and OT which were really helpful in getting home again. Also the Pharmacist that recognized that one of the meds that his Dr had prescribed could have contributed to the gout flare up. I was a patient at Advanced Health Care in Reno, NV. after a fall. I found the facility amazing and the care wonderful. I had a private room with beautiful decor that made the stay more pleasant. My therapy, both physical and occupational, could be grueling at times but enhanced my quick recovery as did the caring nursing staff. Always in demand, and often understaffed, the C.N.A.s do a remarkable job caring for the patients, changing, repositioning, showering, taking vitals, and everything else! This place along with their hospice division is literally the antithesis' of care !! Please please NEVER use this business . They literally made no attempt to notify the family or all my dad's children when he passed away . 7 of us traveled to Reno some driving as far as La Paz Mexico for Xmas and my dads 100th bday . We arrived on 12/23 ! Our father passed away 12/18 and was scheduled for cremation without notifying 5 children and 9 grandchildren and three spouses . This has been beyond gut wrenching ! Someone very dear to me has been at this facility for a few days and at first visit things seem great, she seemed happy and motivated to get better and there was a very warm and inviting atmosphere. She normally don't answer her phone when not feeling well to avoid worrying us so when I called and no answer two times and no answer to my texts, I called the number ending with 7200. I called the other night multiple times at approximately 8pm to check with a nurse to make sure she was fine. No one answered. I called back at approximately 11am the next morning and still no answer. As I was visiting I asked the lady at the front desk if the 7200 is the only number and explained that I was trying to call to speak to a nurse and no one answered. She stated that at night it's hard to get someone because she answers during the day and at night it's no one. I then asked so, if I need to talk with a nurse to check on her, I'd just have to drive or come here? I can't remember her exact words but she basically insinuated yes and the response seemed so a matter of fact. As a healthcare worker in one of the major hospitals in the area, I 100% know how staffing can play a part in daily operations but I find it hard to believe that it's no expectations set in place for answering phones at any point during the day. read more

I left a review on this place on January, 25th 2017. Eight years ago and as I read current reviews with 0ne star, nothing has changed, This place is not equipped for elderly patients that have many health problems. The PT staff are the only benefit. You need to be able to care for yourself and only have an injury to rehabilitate. The treatment of my dad 8 years ago still haunts me to this day. He died one week after taking him out of this place. Google has this place rated as 4.4 stars. They even ask for your 5 star review. Yea, no. 1 star goes to the nursing staff. They are kind, caring, and though over worked, really do seem to care about the patients. Same for PT and OT! 1 star to the facilities. Clean and well appointed. 1 star for the kind staff in the kitchen and dining room 1 star for the assistant staff being helpful and kind 1 star to the head nurses trying to help us navigate. But minus 3 stars to the horrible management and doctor team. I don't know how more clear I could have made it to them the unique and confusing situation we were in with my family member being brand new to the state and not having established care yet. But the same answer of "he needs his primary care physician" then us asking how we establish that happening over and over... plus them not being authorized to administer Rx prescribed nor arranging ways to make that happen? I could go on and on. Like, discharge with no written instructions about how or when home health will begin. All I can say is I am SO glad my loved one is out so we can have the freedom to get treatments DONE. Edit: They scheduled a dr appt, which we knew about, but the details of this appt were not shared with us. They need to re-train some of their staff, this place is not connected with any hospital. We had to re-established a care plan and aftercare plan because the "doctor wasn't aware". They have poor communication skills and my grandmother was dropped on her freshly operated knee and the day before her foot was ran over while she was getting assisted in the bathroom. At first my family was very impressed by the looks everything seemed well and clean but this place in full on negligence. At first her doctor wasn't even aware that she hadn't been eating in days do to thrash in the mouth. "They eased her to the floor" not dropped. My elderly friend was admitted to this facility after having surgery. But was sent back to a hospital after a few weeks due another medical problem. After hospital stay was then sent to Lufe Care of Reno. But while at Advanced Care, part of her right side hearing aid went missing. Shesaidan aide moved it from the bed table to put it on a safe place. Since she was only there for a few weeks she then mentioned the hearing aide problem. I called but they would not address the problem because she could not remember the date or the name of the aide who put it away. They were never held accountable for the hearing aide problem. Since I was not her POA they refused to speak to me. Part of the hearing aid was stuck in her where it stayed stuck in her ear for 3 months without being noticed by Advanced Care or Life Care of Reno. read more

Where to begin... My 93 year old mom had to go to the hospital with an intestinal issue. She was then transferred to Advanced care for some Rehab. The place looked beautiful and smelled great. It seemed like a great place for her to recuperate. When in actuality they almost killed her. She still is trying to mend. They stuck her in a back room where her call button did not work. They gave her a bell to ring. However someone came in with Covid which was spread throughout the facility. My mom was one of the unlucky ones to get it. So her door had to remain shut. I arrived one day for a visit to hear her screaming for someone to come take her to the bathroom. I had to go find someone. Another day I came in to find her in her wheel chair with no bottoms on and a diaper half on half off of her. They would bring food in and put it in front of her but not help her at all. She could not get the saran wrap off the meals so she could not eat. The only time she got fed was if one of us were there to help her eat. They brought her pitchers of warm sink water that she could not drink as it tasted very bitter she said. So when one of us would go we would bring fresh cold water which she would drink and drink and drink. While transferring her to the restroom they caught her arm on a bar and ripped it open. They threw some bandages on the arm but never said anything about it. She also stated that there were several nurses that were very mean to her. When we could finally get her out of the facility she was pretty much gone. Very confused, very thin (she lost quite a bit of weight the two weeks she was there. We actually did not think she would make it but a few more hours. She went from being very very quick minded to very confused from the mal nutrition and dehydration. She is slowly coming back but still extremely weak. They were leaving her in the room to starve to death. The ones that can take care of themselves and have the strength to go to the bathroom and feed themselves are ok. But the ones that need assistance are left alone to die. Do not believe the beautiful nice smelling place to be what it appears as it is not. Be careful and lets protect the elderly from this kind of treatment. They do not deserve to be abandoned like this. read more

The Good: Nice private room with DVR. Helpful staff: Rocky (nurse), Kurt (Occupational Therapist), Brandi (Physical Therapist). Lyndsey helped us with ordering a four wheeled walker so we didn't have to deal with buying one and putting it together ourselves. It was delivered to them so my dad got it before he left. Home care offered through AHC. Beautiful lobby, looks like a hotel, comfy couches, sitting area. Nice public restroom Nice dining area, food was decent. The Bad: My dad was admitted on March 31 and he was seen by Nurse Kelly on April 4. However, Dr. Mars didn't see him until April 9. I'm not sure why there was such a delay in having the doctor see my dad. read more

I would not recommend this facility. My dad entered Advanced Health Care SNF after hip fracture surgery. Although 3 or 4 stars would've gone out to the PT staff and 4-5 to the OT gentleman Kurt, the nursing group was a very mixed staff, some amazing & great, some just terrible, so about a 3-star rating, and the administrative staff and pretend "Doctor & P.A." get a big 0-star rating. The kitchen staff, although most were very helpful and nice people, gets a mixed review of 4 for some days and a 0 for others as he is gluten intolerant and when he was first there, for several days they brought him wheat products and made him sick even after telling them multiple times. The message apparently doesn't get passed around to shifts very quickly. Some didn't even seem to have a clue what gluten-free was. You are not allowed to tell the caregivers/nurses about food issues because they say they are completely separated from the food staff. They refer you to the CNA's, but no one knows where they are most of the time. There is a bit of a lack of consistency/comms, between shifts of both caregivers and kitchen and inconsistent food quality. Rooms were fine, it was nice to have his own room, set up pretty well for post-operative patients and the elderly, and the place "looks nice outwardly, but obviously not necessarily truly "clean" as he caught Covid there. Lack of PPE, lack of testing, and even the head administrator wouldn't take any blame for dad getting Covid and all he could say was "we follow CDC guidelines", and now there are basically no guidelines recommended because it is an "endemic" disease, the PA even referred to it as a "rampant" disease. They don't automatically do a presumptive test for Covid right away if someone has respiratory symptoms. He got Covid after they had a patient that had tested positive the week before. He caught it on the 17th day that he was there. They did not test him for 3 days after he started showing symptoms. The PA told me they send people home with Covid. He came in with a hip fracture, he was taught to walk again with a walker and cane, so time to go. People in their 80s with a recent surgery and a potentially deadly respiratory virus!? Come on!!! They have a "mechanics, not medicine" mentality at this place. Their claim to fame if you look on their website is that they discharge more quickly than other facilities. So they want to keep that track record more desperately than taking care of patients. My Dad went in to recuperate from a broken hip surgery, and came out likely very dehydrated, and with Covid. Yes, he caught it there and they forced him out (and he couldn't stand the place any longer) while he was in the middle of a bout of it. Although they tried to give him food, and encouraged him to drink, Dad said he had not eaten for 5 days when he was sent home and was barely drinking because he felt nauseated to do so. The discharge nurse said that they must discharge him and that they go by what the insurance company liaison says, the insurance company, Sr. Care Plus, says they do what the doctor says, the doctor/PA says they do what the therapists say. Disappointing bunch of finger-pointers. The PA said that he had to be discharged because the Physical Therapy staff said that he is able to walk using equipment (because he had done his PT prior to leaving and could use a cane/walker). They gave him Paxlovid for his Covid and ran him out not having eaten or drank sufficiently for days. The admins do not care about the patients here, just numbers, move them in, and move them out, as fast as possible. He went home in WAY worse shape than he went in. Shame on this place and in particular, the head administrator for being absent most of the time and not knowing what was going on with his patients, staff, and facility, and not knowing how to prevent the spread of Covid in his facility, instead disregarding logical, basic standards that anyone would use to keep diseases from spreading room to room, or between employees, and blaming some federal agency like CDC which must have an epic lack of practical guidance now since the masking and glove requirements came off around May 11, 2023. read more

I checked in to AHC one week ago Thursday and was very disappointed with my level of care. But things kicked into gear the following Monday. I began seeing very focused PTs as well as my own three-times-a-day "Homework." The level of care from top to bottom is excellent. However, I would give the food quality a generous C-, possibly lower. AHC has certainly met my goals, and I would come here again. read more

My mom had to come here for rehab from a fall and dementia related issues. This place is amazing and the staff is caring and very helpful in every aspect of their jobs. The actual facility is very warm and welcoming and the rooms are comfortable and large. They even have a salon which my mom was in need of and they did a great job on her hair. My grandfather suffered from a stoke and was referred to this facility. I called their office and asked if I could set up a tour. The lady on the phone told me there was no appointment necessary as they are available for tours all the time. I went after work and stood at the front desk for about 10 mins watching employees walk right past me. I finally asked if someone can give me information and the nurse told me to call back in the morning to set up a tour. I was annoyed but called back in the morning to find out they declined his referral and they couldn't give me a reason why! So not back to square one. read more

What an awesome facility to re-hab at. I felt like I was at a 5-star hotel. The staff, including day, night and therapy were the best. Their compassion and sincere caring were beyond the call of duty. The food was outstanding with variety and well balanced meals. I would highly recommend this facility to everyone. I was in Advanced Health Care for three weeks after being in an acute rehabilitation hospital for two months. AHC was my"stepping stone" to being able to go home. They did a wonderful job of preparing me for that transition and I will always be grateful for their great work. As per usual certain staff members tend to stand out; Pam in nursing, Nicole, Heidi and Michael in the CNA area, Sue in discharge. All great people along with many others, a list too long to note. The therapy department was staffed with a group of careing and dedicated employees, they made my progression while there something I looked forward to every day that I had therapy. It could be difficult at times, which was to be expected, but well worth it in the end. I will always be grateful for their care and dedication. Five stars, well earned! read more

I would have to say that most of the staff I encountered there were very good, but it only takes one to give the place a bad name. My mother was there for 4 days. The first 3 days she had an excellent nurse named Rocky, day 4...........lets just say she shouldn't have a license to practice nursing. My mother was admitted for severe back pain and was there for rehab prior to her back surgery. On day 4 I attempted to reach my mother by phone on multiple occasions in the morning. With no luck I decided to go check on her during my lunch break. What I found is her lying in the bed completely unresponsive. Her breakfast tray was across the room and had not been touched. When I asked the nurse how long my mother had been unresponsive her response was "her eyes were open this morning". WHAT!!! you are giving an elderly patient opioid narcotics and not checking on them! I have been a registered nurse for over 30 years and could not arouse my mother even with deep pain stimuli. Had to insist on them giving her Narcan and then they didn't want to give full dose. I am sorry that her being comatose is more convenient for you! Called ambulance and had her transferred out ASAP! read more

I have been a patient at AHC a few times in the past due to being bedridden for extended periods of time. I lost most of the strength in my legs and I wasn't able to get around independently. I've had success in the past with AHC. I told the admissions nurse th noat I wanted to regain the strength in my legs so I could walk with my walker. I also told her that if I4r s couldn't regain my str8ength I was open to assisted living. It took AHC 71/2 w hieeks to verify my eligibility. My first day there I was timed for 53 minutes trying to stand up on my own. All they needed was 3 minutes to see how weak I was. This was around the time that the director of nursing, Lindsay, came into the picture. She kept telling me that I needed assisted living. For the next 71/2 weeks everything I did was in a wheelchair, either a transfer to the bed or the toilet. I told Lindsay that I don't use a wheelchair at home and I don't sleep in a bed. I sleep in a lift chair. She immediately shut me up and told this was not open for discussion. Lindsay said I should be in a skilled nursing facility in case I fell down. I told her that I have a medic alert. Again I was shut up. I couldn't sleep because I felt like I was drowning in fluids in my lungs. They said I was making excuses. I went to the hospital and they said I had pneumonia. Lindsay said I should be in a skilled nursing facility in case I needed assistance. I told her this is a skilled nursing facility and I had to wait 3 hours for assistance getting into bed and 11/2 hours for pain medicine. CNAs are understaffed and overworked. This stay was a very humiliating experience. I was told they were going to make an appointment with my endocrinologist. Never happened. After 71/2 weeks I walked a measured 25 feet and the next I received a discharge notice saying that my health has improved sufficiently so I no longer need the services provided by this facility. What services? All the while I was being interviewed by group homes and Lindsay even had a psychiatrist interview me, I guess because I didn't agree with her. Between Medicare eligibility and lack of the rehab I wanted, I wasted 4 months with AHC. read more

This is a new facility, great location, friendly staff. BUT...getting staff to follow simple instructions that could be life threatening to a patient has been impossible! I've had to stay with my parent just to make sure CNA's don't cause a very life threatening screw up. No matter how many times over a two week period I've reminded, reported, and put notes all over her room no one can seem to understand the urgency in this. A severe Artirial blood clot is no laughing matter. Why do they keep trying to do blood pressure checks to that arm??? I woke up to someone taking her bloodpressure on her left arm this morning! Guess they want to see an Artirial blow up in her arm??!!! Next is diet. Who feeds a diabetic with kidney failure chocolate cake, bread pudding, shrimp scampi...sugar readings constant over 350 - 499. Frazzled. read more
