My Macbook Pro 2020 (purchased may 2021) suddenly stopped turning on. even though i charged it, switched up which ports i was using, nothing worked. i went to my local apple store, they couldn't perform a diagnostic test since it wouldn't turn on. the employee there told me my motherboard was probably broken and it would cost $600 + tax to replace. advanced microdistribution channels was listed as an verified apple service place on apple support so i decided to try here to get a 2nd opinion. they did a 24 hour examination of my laptop, diagnosed the issue (not my motherboard fyi!), and told me it would only cost $220 for them to replace the part! however since it's an apple product, apple required them to send it to an apple factory (which is messed up btw) so it did end up being $331 instead. they notified me of this and i agreed to still have it sent out. i was still blown away by the amazing price and the customer service here! thank you! read more

Ever visit a restaurant and your food comes out much quicker than expected, leaving you to think, did they cook that in the microwave... I contacted Apple as soon as my new Mac mini 5 months) just stopped working. Deep into the pandemic, Apple informed me that it could be 5-6 weeks before they're able to return the computer back to me, without providing me a loaner. They informed me that their was an authorized repair facility, I contacted them, spoke with Alan, he informed me that they could get me in in 4 days. I was apprehensive and would have preferred that Apple take care of my device directly. However, after dropping off my computer, Alan informed me that it could be 4-5 days.... Alan called me back within 2 hours, informed me that my computer had a defective logic board, and he would try and have it repaired by tomorrow, but it could be Monday. Alan asked if I had backed up my informed, fortunately, I use iCloud. Alan called me Friday morning, informing me that the computer had been repaired and was ready to pick up. Alan and this company have been incredibly swamped during the pandemic and it's important to be understanding how much extra hours he has put in since the close of the Apple stores. In the pandemic, he has fixed my brothers MacBook that didn't turn on one day and was able to get it back to him within a day. He reloaded the OS within 24 hours; when you drop the laptop with him, he also does hardware inspection and cleans the device. I emailed them for a quote and they quickly and politely responded. Their price was decent for the repair required. I set up the appointment to drop off my machine. My wife dropped it off and they called me while she was there in order to get extra info. Super friendly people. They told me 2-5 days because they needed the part ordered. They did inform me the warp in the case may need to be addressed while they were in there and they were going to call me after they opened it. I got a call from Alan not much later and he told me the warp wasn't an issue and the original repair was all that was needed. Again super friendly and courteous. Imagine my surprise when I get a call the next day, less than 24 hours later, my computer was ready for pickup. Talk about under promise and over deliver. The one caveat I had was they needed access to the machine. I had to give them my password which is a bit a disconcerting and did not have a chance to reschedule. My 2012 MacBook crashed after downloading the latest Mac OS for work. I did not have a backup of the data and was in jeopardy of losing everything. My brother used this place of business after experiencing hard drive failure without a back-up as well a couple years ago. He urged me to contact this business. I promptly called and Alan was pleasant. I live in Long Island but drove to Edison, NJ based off of my brother's recommendation. Dropping off my laptop was seamless. I explained what happened and what I was trying to accomplish -- data retrieval. I was willing to buy a new laptop. Monday around noon Alan called me and said that the prognosis was not good since the hard drive was very old but he will try additional methods to retrieve the data and he will call me on Tuesday. Tuesday came and went and no call from Alan. I called on Wed and it seemed like my work ticket was no longer on the top of the pile. I gave my name and number and Alan said he needs to do some investigating work. He called me promptly and asked secondary questions, "What were you trying to do when your laptop crashed? Because your laptop is very fragmented and I have tried several specialized techniques to retrieve the data and was unsuccessful. You can come and pick-up your laptop." I was taken aback and felt defeated. Well I picked up my laptop and went to Mobility and Beyond in Edison, NJ (another review is pending). Guess what??? They were able to retrieve 99% of my data. It turns out my laptop had no more space on the hard drive. The computer tech was able to place all of my data on a 1TB external hard drive and installed a new SD hard drive. I suspect Alan and co are more comfortable dealing with PC issues vs Macs. Regardless, I am happy my laptop is up and running. read more

Warranty repair for new 27inch iMac: I had wasted 6 calls with Apple support to be run around the same troubleshooting and brought it in twice to the Apple Store Genius Bar working around their pathetic overloaded schedule for them to reload the OS on each repair attempt. All these prior attempts I saw that ADVANCED MICRO DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS had reasonable availability but I was hesitant because I had this idea in mind that it would be more tedious. The iMac continued to perform horribly (this is a November 2017 New iMac running basic stuff), really bad, I wanted to return it and buy a PC because I was so disappointed . My last attempt to make the repair I decided to completely avoid the phone call to Apple support and try these guys. They replaced faulty components (which Apple did not diagnose over the past 4 months) fully updated the iMac and it is running as it should. Their location and hours are convenient and they are very hospitable people. I highly recommend you completely avoid the Apple Genius Bar at Menlo Park and go directly to these guys first if you have ANY issue with an Apple device. My experience with Apple related to this iMac has been really bad with one exception, that they have Advanced Micro Distribution Channels selected as an approved warranty vendor. And by the way, sort of a side note: that is a mouthful for a business name. read more

Apple Support sent me to Advanced Micro and they turned me around in 24 hours with a completely restored drive. I recently took my Macbook Pro to this place because Apple said they were the closest IT place to me that was open for repairs during the COVID-19 pandemic. An employee named Alan was incredibly unprofessional in his communication and evidently lacked basic job knowledge. After "repairing" the Macbook, he had actually replaced it with the wrong kind of hard drive which had half the storage space of the original internal hard drive. Instead of owning up to the mistake, he became irate -- interrupting and raising his voice both over the phone and in person. The customer service experience with Alan was a horror show. In the end, he fixed the problem but still charged me an additional fee for it. While he knew that the mistake was his responsibility, he began to go on tangents and tell unrelated stories to distract from making an apology or making the matter right without an extra charge. I would never go here again and would not recommend to anyone. read more

Utterly ignorant and dismissive of coronavirus protocols, and rude about it as well. We needed a computer repair but wanted to do contactless delivery because of the virus. When I asked the guy on the phone how we might do that, he assured me that they had wiped down the front desk. I suggested that we drop it off outside and call to let them know it was there in order to avoid personal contact. The guy said "ok, I guess" as if that was something that hadn't occurred to them as a possibility. He was already a little rude, but it's by far the closest Apple repair shop to me, so I wanted this to work and remained very polite. Then he said that we still would have to fill out paperwork, so he would bring us a form that we could fill out and bring back to him. That obviously defeats the purpose of contactless delivery, so I suggested that maybe he could email the paperwork to me, and I could either send the information back by email or print it and drop it off with the computer? No, he said, you have to physically take the form from us there and fill it out, or alternatively (and I assume this passes for wit at this business), I could wait until the pandemic subsides. It's worth pointing out that other businesses, including other authorized Apple repair centers INSIST upon contactless delivery, which protects the business and its employees as well as the public. I LOST ALL MY SOFTWARE THAT WILL COST THOUSANDS TO REPLACE I dropped off my 2012 Mac, which was running slow and hot, to be fixed. I told them very specifically not to update the system software because the software (Creative Suite and Painter) were irreplaceable. The guy asked me if the data was backed up. I said I backed up the data, but the software was old and irreplaceable and wouldn't work with a new OS, so don't update the OS. He asked me if it could be reinstalled, and I told him that I did not have the installation CDs. It is written on my copy of the the receipt: "Do not update OS." Guess what- they updated the OS to Mojave which wiped the computer clean. All my software is gone, and can't be replaced without spending thousands. Alan said I told him that my data was backed up. This is true, but I also told him that the software is irreplaceable. Lots of apologies from Alan, but also a lot of interrupting and several "honeys" which I found demeaning. (I'm not his freaking "honey.") But when push came to shove, he would not get me new software, nor did he offer a refund. He also hung up on me, even though I was being very polite considering the circumstances. I don't want to make trouble. I don't want to put anyone out. I just want to be able to use my computer. My illustration and design work is on hold until I figure something out. My husband says that I should take them to small-claims court, and maybe he's right, we will see. read more

I brought my macbook to the store two years ago when my hard drive suddenly died and had to be replaced. They immediately fit me in, were able to backup and recover all of my data, and replaced it with an even better part at a very affordable rate. My Review of the experience at Advanced Micro Distribution Channels. My MacBook Pro was in great need of an Upgrade and Cleaning. I took the apple store to see what I anything could be done. The answer from Apple was that nothing could be done at their site but the would recommend a qualified and authorized company in the area that would address all my questions and concerns. The name of the company was Advanced Micro Distribution Channels. I walked in the next day and met with Alan B. I explained my problems, which he seemed to understand immediately. He then took the time to explain every aspect of how he would get to the correct diagnostic answer to my questions. He also explained that after the diagnostic was complete he would call and give the results and all possible solutions to correct the issues that were causing the problems. Alan explained that it would be three day to get back to me with all the information. He returned the call with the information in ONE DAY. This included the identification of the problems and the prices to repair the situations. He also informed me he would need three days to get it all together. MY COMPUTER WAS READY IN TWO DAYS. During that time they needed addition information regarding the use of the computer and programs that I had installed and used on a daily basis. Kim who, works in the office contacted me via phone. The professional and courtesy during these phone call was a pleasure. She had all the questions ready and waited very patiently for me to dig out the answers. The results were simple astounding. All the work I had asked for was completed perfectly. The computer is now functioning like the day I first bought it. And all the work was completed one day earlier than promised! An amazing experience with this Company and staff. I have now already recommended them to two associates and will continue to do so. Knowledgeable staff, fair pricing, and delivery of services as promised or before promised make this a truly one of a kind experience. I will return there if anything else should come up. It's so nice to meet an honest businessperson. I had an issue with my old Macbook Pro, and the Apple Store couldn't help me. So they referred me to this place, saying he could open up my laptop and diagnose the issue. A simple hard drive problem, I could fix no problem. But the Apple Store guy said he didn't think that was the issue. So I begrudgingly called up this place. I spoke with Alan on the phone, and he told me I could drop the computer off and he'd take a look. He was very nice and helpful, not at all what I was expecting. I dropped the computer off on a Friday afternoon, so he told me he'd get back to me on Monday. So I was surprised to hear from him later that day, telling me he figured out the problem and quoting me a price. Talk about low pressure, he gave me the quote and when I was surprised about the price, he told me to think about it and call him in the morning. I asked a couple people their opinion and it all came to - well this is a problem you can fix for a fraction of the price, why would you pay someone else to do it? So I called him back on Saturday and told him no thank you. He told me I could come pick it up that day, or on Monday. So I drove out to get it back (mainly so I could take out the hard drive and order a new one), not realizing he wasn't even open! He was just in the shop, doing work, and let me stop by to pick up the computer. I ALSO didn't realize the diagnosis was going to be free of charge. This place is great. Seriously. I first came here when an iPhone update wiped my phone of all data and I didn't have a back up. Apple referred me to them and am so glad they did. I paid a hefty price but they recovered all my data. They helped me again when my laptop crashed and they recovered my data. They were not able to recover data from a failed external drive but no other company has either as the drive destroyed itself. I work a second job doing online tutoring, so not having a laptop made this time tough, and I was unable to find an Apple Store nearby to help me out any time in the next few weeks. It was only a few weeks into my first semester in business school when my plastic water bottle sprung a leak inside my messenger bag which made its way to my brand new laptop. I was devastated. Where to start with this review, but to give praise where praise is due after a few misunderstandings and job well done with a happy end to a story. To cut to the chase I had AMDC work on my iMac to perform a free analysis (which they offer) to diagnose computer issues. I initially left unsatisfied, but Alan (the owner) went out of his way to meet with me to discuss the work and and have my computer fixed above and beyond my expectations. Alan takes a lot of pride in his company and making sure his clients are satisfied, he's also very upfront and honest. He also works weekends when other staff are not around and in the end runs a successful business where customers are treated fairly and properly. I work in another realm of technology myself and deal with customers all the time managing relationships, it's not easy making everyone happy but in this case AMDC did the right thing and earned a customer as well as a great job fixing my computer. I now have a 2008 iMac that runs like a 2015 iMac. I suggest you give them a chance 1st rather than going to alternate Apple/Microsoft service centers as you should get fantastic service from AMDC and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

My 7 year old MacBook Pro suddenly "died" and I took it to the Apple Store to see if the "Genius Bar" could run some magic. It was so far gone, they were not even able to run diagnostics. I asked if any of my data was salvageable. Unable to answer for sure, the kind people at the Apple Store recommended me to come HERE! They assured me that Alan and his team are amazing and sometimes even are able to recover hardware data that had been completely cleared! I called to make an appointment and Alan was immediately accommodating. I dropped off my laptop (and a new external hard drive) and crossed my fingers! We were in touch several times over the course of 3 days, as I had a tough case. My hard drive existed, but it was completely empty! Alan was able to recover many, many things that were important to me. Once he salvaged what he could, I was able to view what was recovered and was offered a very fair quote. The wonderful thing about this honest business, and honest company -- if I didn't take what was recovered and decided those files were not important to me, there would be no cost for the work they put into my computer! I was so impressed with not only how hard working they were to get something out of nothing -- but also as to how caring they were towards their customers. I can't say enough good things about my (thankfully, brief) encounter with AMDC. I had a pretty serious issue with my disc drive the night before I was to return to school. Completely panicked, I tried to get an appointment at the Genius Bar but the only appointment I could get on such short notice was at AMDC. I was there for maybe an hour tops and they diagnosed the issue and replaced the disc drive for a reasonable price.
